Unlocked Fuze wont connect to data - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I have researched the site and have not found a answer for my situation.
I have an unlocked Fuze and a international sim chip from telestial with prepaid data.
http://www.telestial.com/view_product.php?PRODUCT_ID=MSIM-PPP2
The phone works fine, but I have a strange problem with the GPRS connection
When I manual connect to the GPRS, the sim connects to the pre-paid network. However, when I launch IE, Opera or any other data program, the sim disconnects and the program searches for a the pre install MEdia Net connection (which it obviously cant find) before disconnecting me and giving me the staple, "cant connect to network message".
I was told by telestial that HTC phones are sometimes "data locked".
Anyone have any ideas? I think I just need to change the connection being forced by the individual programs.

Can Kaiser have a data connection by wifi with no SIM?

This wasn't a problem on my Hermes, but for some reason, even when I have a live wifi connection my Kaiser says there is no data connection because I don't have my SIM card in.
Is there a setting I am missing?
Is there a registry entry that allows you to open up the SIM door without turning off the phone?
It seems strange that they would make data connections contingent on having a SIM card when the phone has WiFi as well.

BB Connect 4.0.0.90 for WM6Pro, HTC TyTN II, and Rogers Wireless

Hello there,
I seem to be having trouble connecting to Rogers' BB network.
To give a little background information on my Wireless Plan:
I'm originally a BB user. Currently, I have Blackberry Data Plan (NOT Blackberry Connect) attached to my plan.
I can check Email, browse the net a bit, use Jive Talk, all through EDGE (or so it says on my BB 8800).
I just got the TyTN II recently, and I want to connect my TyTN II to the Blackberry Network (I'm not quite sure whether I have to switch plans, from Blackberry Data, to Blackberry Connect?)
I've also downloaded the software for WM6Pro, I tried registering my device to the network, and.. it 'sorta' did work for a brief moment. I even received an email confirmation saying my handheld has been registered.
Moments later, I was disconnected, and I wasn't able to reconnect again.
Looking at the Status tab (while my TyTN 2 tries to register itself to the Network), I can see the status changes from: Network Available, Data Tunnel Available before it goes back to Not Connected.
Do I have to switch my plan from BB Data to BB Connect?
Do I have to release my old PIN and then re-register it with the PIN I have in my TyTN II?
(BTW, I just called Rogers to release my old BB8800 PIN and IMEI and replaced it with my TyTN II, the rep did also confirm the device type I have, "TyTn.. HTC something" his words.)
Thanks,
Evan
You would actually have to switch your plan over to PDA BlackBerry Connect...
So, I managed to be connected to HSDPA/3G/GPRS/EDGE using the BBConnect app. Using the version posted here, 4.0.0.91
The type of connection keeps on changing though.
However, browsing (with WiFi off) is such a pain.
And I'm not sure why the there seems to be a timer when I click the Connectivity Icon on the taskbar. Counting up. Blackberry (3G).
Oh, and I haven't actually switch my account to BB Connect, yet.

Live messenger - can't connect

I have this problem since a couple of days.. i cant connect to Live messenger anymore. It keeps saying: "There is a problem with the server. Please try again later."
this is already since a couple of days, yesterday i flashed Dutty's 7 RTM rom. and its still there... whats going on? the problem also exists when i try to connect with an AS connection.
What's it like with IE ? Are you able to surf the web?
Let's exclude the possibility that you don't have a internet connection at all.
Works perfectly.. i have also noticed some other people who have the same problem on a dutch forum..
I called vodafone. and they stated that microsoft might be blocking the vodafone proxy.. does anyone know how to circumvent that? but the weirdest thing.. i also get that message when i try to connect with internet via active sync... and thats without vodafone connection right?
*update* Even with WiFi it doesnt work...?
a mate of mine gets the same error. and someone from an other forum aswell... can someone check if they can connect trough their kaiser?
Friend of mine has the same problem. But if you keep retrying you will get acces.
Vodafone blocked it (They are not telling the costumers.) cause there building there own like universal IM.
On my HTC S710 I started getting the problem about a week ago, but a couple of retries got me signed in. But for the past two days I have been unable to connect at all. I get the same error connecting with WiFi.
After atempting to connect I find that if I close messenger and try to disconnect my network connection then the phone will try and connect with GPRS - I have to re-boot the phone to stop this happening.
I am however able to connect to the MSN Messenger service with another client - Mundu IM, and Windows Live is able to connect to sync my contacts.
The problem appears to be specific to the Microsoft client.
I did see a big advertisements in the dutch press about windows live being available in the Netherlands on Tuesday - same time as the problems got worse - is this related to the problem?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347234
It is now sending me round the twist. Sometimes i can sync through windows live but not very often.
same problem
j have a same probleme with orange in france
but when j m keep aout may sim card the wifi conection work well
and when j put in my trinity the sim card my conection to windows live doesnt work ?????
j think that orange and other opperator can block the port ! whith the sim card
or it s a windows live messenger probleme perhaps !!!
I appear to have the same problem. I'm on UK T-Mobile and can access the net, and synchronise with Windows Live, but cannot log in to WLMessenger.
Also having this problem using Wifi so that at least takes Vodafone out of the loop.
can any body solve this bug ????
i get this sometimes when i have just been in a bad signal area - going into flight mode and then back out again (ie turning the phone in comm manager on and off [i connect through gprs]) solves the problem for me - i think that loss of signal messes up comms between your device and the server so the server barfs and wont let you connect - i dont know of a fix, only the workaround of 'rebooting' the phone connection - it has happened to me quite a lot recently but only when ive had poor signal
One thing I can't try at the moment is to remove the sim card and try to connect using wi-fi.
Is it possible that Windows Mobile Live can detect the phone (sim card) network and then block the connection??
I'll give it a go when I am home and have a wi-fi connection.
At the weekend I disabled the Phone Radio and enabled Wi-Fi then signed in without problem. I then signed out re-enabled the radio, disabled Wi-Fi and also signed in without a problem.
Is it MS that has the problem?
Today I tried to connect with GPRS and again I am unable to sign in - but if I re-boot & disable the phone radio I can sign in
- I can however sign in to MSN with Mundu-IM.
So is vodafone/msn blocking the GPRS connection???
I am getting exactly the same problem with a THREE sim card.
I've got a vodafone 1615 flashed with the HTC Rom on THREE
Switch radio off, and can connect to live messenger via the PC on a USB cable, but the moment radio is switched on, can't connect via usb to messenger, but I can still connect to every other web page, and everything else appears to work.
I've tried the same tests with
o2, Three, Orange and T-Mobile, (don't actually have a vodafone sim) PAYG sim cards
With o2, T-mobile and orange cards, no matter whether I have their or THREE's settings for data, it connects via USB to messenger
But the moment I put a Three sim card in there, messenger will not connect even over USB!
So what on earth can putting a Three sim card in there be doing?
If I disable the phone, with the Three sim card in there, messenger connects straight away over usb., and then I can re-enable the phone and messenger will still connect via usb even closing apps with task manager
Hi .. I am having this same problem .. actually posted a new thread on this however i have stumbled across this one so i suppose my new thread is redundant. I have tried a variety of soloutions including switching the phone off, connecting over wifi and 3g, reinstalling the software and settings/passwords etc ... .. the device is on orange and has been working perfectly up until yesterday. I am now unsure as to what to do to solve this? just wondered if anyone has any ideas?
Once again using other software it connects fine to msn, it is the proprietary software which appears to have the issue. This has been downloaded from dutty's site as the CAB and as mentioned has worked perfectly to date.
There have been no other software changes to the device that could have caused it to stop working, it appears orange (the network) cant have affected this as it is still not working ove the wifi connection ... at a loss lol.
Hopefully theres someone out there who has managed to solve this one???
Cheers
D
someone have a hack or tool or registry tweak that solve this problem ??
I can conect msn messenger only when i remove my sim card.
Everytime the simcard is activated, i get an error massage that i cant conect msn messenver becouse of some conection problems....
Same problem here Sprint Touch Diamond on mine and my wifes
I have the same problem, I can connect using wifi, but not using the orange network. Does anyone else have this problem?
I also tried with ebuddy, but it also doesn't work. I thought it would be a missconfiguration, but I can surf the net without problems.
Thanks in advance
Alejandro

Tilt wifi, 3g connection problems

I connect to 3G network and PIE, Media Net works well. I disconnect 3G and connect to WiFi, open PIE which is set to Media Net home page and popup reads "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings." It will not go to Media Net home page but most other websites (ie. google, weather channel etc...) work fine. Cingular video reads "having technical difficulties, try again later". Mobile CNN reads "Cnn wireless content is restricted. You may be attempting to access us from an unauthorized mobile service provider, or it could be that your service provider is authorized but has failed to register a new gateway IP with us."
That's with PIE. With 3rd party applications like XM Radio, Windows Live Search, they work well with WiFi but not with 3G. XM pops up "A network error has occurred. Please verify your cellular or WiFi connection is active and restart the app." Live Search will open but wont download maps or get directions.
I've done searches here and in different forums with no success. This happened before and after phone calls to AT&T, HTC then online chat with AT&T tech support I got it fixed with a hard restart. Then after downloading HTC Home Plugin, KaiserTweaks and remapping the PTT button, it started having the same connection problems again.
Now aside from doing another hard restart and having to dowload/install those CABs again, does anyone know how to fix this?
I know the AT&T/Cingular browser settings by heart, but this alone wont fix the problem.
https://www.wireless.att.com/support/knowledgeBase.do?content=KB84444.html
There has to be some missing settings perhaps on Start-Settings-Connections-Connections-Advanced-Select Network : "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:".
Thanks, I appreciate any help.
I know this is an old thread but I was just having the same problem with all my 3rd party apps.
Simple solution: Edit settings for AT&T ISP so that they match the media net settings. Basically change ISP to wap in adress and user name. leave the password as it is.
Im not sure why my 3rd party apps try to connect to ISP but since i cant figure that out this does the trick.
Hopefully this helps somebody. Im using Alex V5.20 CUBE

Email Sync over WiFi/GPRS strange issue/experience

Hi all,
Got a stange issue. I have the MDAcIV (basically a diamond) on the UK T-Mobile contract.
I've setup my Gmail account to send/retrieve and over wifi it works perfectly, however if I disable my wifi connection, I expect the email to sync over GPRS, but I keep getting a sync error saying check your connections etc.
Anyway checked all my connections and it works fine over GPRS in browser, weather, and any other app requiring internet connection, just not email.
Gone through the email settings and under advanced server settings, under Network Connection it's set to "The Internet".
If I change this to "T-Mobile Internet", and then try to sync with wifi OFF, the GPRS kicks in and starts syncing.
I then stopped the GPRS connection, switched on wifi, and tried to sync again, but instead of using the connected wifi, it starts a GPRS connection.
Strange!
So in summary:
Network Connection: The Internet
WiFi OFF
GPRS ON
Sync fails over GPRS
Network Connection: T-Mobile Internet
WiFi ON
GPRS OFF
Syncs over GPRS instead of existing wifi connection
Anyone else have similar experience?
Thanks
I got a similar one:
I'm using Active Sync via HSDPA/GPRS to get my mails pushed (Exchange 2007 Server). Works like a charm and never have problems with it; used it for years with other WiMo devices.
Now, since I have my diamond (MDAc4 also) I can finally use WiFi, too. What I now experience is:
When I turn on Wifi, my cellular connection (HSDPA) stays active and when I turn it off manually via the comm manager it also turns off "PushMail" in comm manager. That basically sets active sync to "manual" instead of "when items arrive".
Though I am able to turn on push mail in comm manager again, as soon as an email arrives it starts to connect HSDPA again.
So basically I can not use wifi to save some MB of my data plan when I want to continue to get my emails. And this really sucks...
Only thing I can set up in the advanced connections in Active Sync is "Connection" where my only option is "Internet" -.- Meaning I can not differ between cellular and wifi. It kinda has to use the cellular connection...
long story short, dunno if that helps you with your problem now, sorry; but if anyone understands what I am talking about right here, maybe send me a pm or something, if you know how to fix that.

Definitely had this happen a fair few times, with the gprs failing to connect once or twice, and I've seen it on most of the roms.
I think WM doesn't set it's connection type correctly, so we don't get the seamless "use the best/cheapest/fastest connection available"
In fact, anyone know of any app that would just do that? As in try to connect to unsecured or secured wifi, followed by 3G/HSDPA, followed by GPRS?

I have exactly the same problem. If I want to get my e-mail the account setting has to be "T-Mobile Internet" unless I'm using wi-fi in which case I have to switch it to be "The Internet". Anyone know of a solution?
Is it possible that T-mobile are forcing you to use your Data connection rather than free Wifi ?
Hmmm nerf maybe?

Thanks for the reply. It could be but the phone doesn't even attempt to connect to mobile data it just pops up an error to say it can't connect with the existing data settings. Its not a T-mobile supplied handset although it did configure itself to use T-Mobile when I first put the SIM in.
Solution
After research and research I´ve finally found a solution. I´ll post some pictures of my settings so you can see yourself what you have to do.
The clou is to have only 1 connection for Wifi and GPRS/3G. WM now firstly checks if there is a Wifi connection and if not, it will connect to GPRS.
Got It
Just untick the box that says "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" in the manage t-mobile Internet connections app.
Now works over Wifi if available, if not uses GPRS/3G
