Strange sms notifications - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all,
as you know, when new sms is received on Topaz and the screen is not active, green led starts blinking. That usually happens as well on my device, but sometimes there is no sound neither blinking when message is received.
But when I activate the device, the notification of new message appears. The problem is that the message is usually hour or even more older. Anyone has the same problem? Or is it just me?

The blinking light will stop after 5 min, by default. I changed mine to flash indefinitely.
1. Go to Settings - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications
2. Select Messaging: New text message
3. For the "Flash light for ..." option, change it to "No limit"

Message received sound notification
I have the same problem when it comes to playing the message received sound notification when my phone is locked. When I receive messages I can only see the blinking light notification then after I unlock the phone the sound plays. Its really annoying. Does anyone have a solution?

same here. But not always. I think it happens when the device is not locked and the screen is in stand-by

common issue...ROM issue!!! hopefully it will be fixed with the next ROM release

Yes I'm getting this to, it seems to be intermittent... And its annoying...
I picked it up yesterday off the table turned it on and Yep the SMS sound notified me and said it had a new sms and the green led started blinking, its like it goes into some sort of sleep mode and when you pick it up to turn it on, it then lets you know you have a message..... I hope there's fix for this soon..
R..

Hi
I had this issue and fixed it.
I used Advanced Config and under the power settings changed 'Battery resuming from suspend timeout' changed this from 1 second to 10 seconds.
The problem is the device wakes up, often gets enough time to signal the LED to flash but the device suspends again too quickly for the sound to play.
Regards
Phil

The problem is that the device even does not start blinking. So it behaves like there is no new message until you press power off button and the screen becomes active. Not sure whether we are talking about the same problem

Vibration alerts

Anybody expereinced this problem with Kaiser?
My vibration alert sometimes (many times actually) did not stop until I manually press the power on/off button. I have set vibration on when I receive new email messages, etc. When a new email message came in, the device just kept vibrating (I can only stop it by pressing the power button). When it was working properly, it would emit just 3 intermittent vibrations instead of a long one.
Any advice on how to resolve this? Thanks.
I get same effect with push e-mail. After three or four e-mails it goes into infinite vibration and will not stop until I acknowledge that e-mail. Please, any suggestions really appreciated.
Yes, that's similar to what I have encountered. Anybody has any advice please?
Lol, sorry to laugh, but it reminded me of something that constantly vibrates
Any solutions for this? I have the same issue.
I've found that when the phone is on non-vibrate option but volume is turned down to min, the phone continually vibrates!
When in normal vibrate-only mode, it does the usual 3 buzzes!!!
Try it and see
I encountered the same issue with the Tilt.
Tilt Won't Stop Vibrating!!
Has anyone found a solution for this? As mail is pushed through, my tilt vibrates continuously until I hit the power button. This happens several times every day (and needless to say, it is very annoying).
Seems not much advices from the guru here .... or maybe this problem only happened to just a few of us?
For me, I still can't figure out the pattern. It just happened spontaneously so I can't really pinpoint at a specific fault or something. But I would be very interested to find out how come this problem is only bugging a few of us here .... hmmmm ...
I changed my settings when new email message received to non vibrate mode.
I'm also having this problem intermittently and it is very annoying. Please help on this one.
I am also having this issue but can't seem to track it down to a single set of circumstances.
I have the same thing - when volume is not set to mute and vibrate is on, it vibrates normally. When the volume is muted, sometimes, but not always, it vibrates continuously. I haven't found any kind of solution yet...
I have the Tilt with stock AT&T ROM.

Vibrate for text message?

I'm maybe just being stupid - but I can't get my diamond to vibrate when I get a text. I think I've set it correct, but its not working.
Using TouchFlo - I go into "Settings", then "Sound".
I press "Advanced", and then choose the "Notifications" tab.
From the "Event" drop down list I select "Messaging: new Text Message"
Then I tick the "Vibrate" box.
Is there something else I need to do?!
BTW - my ROM version is 1.37 if thats relevant
If you mean that your phone should 'wake up' and vibrate when you receive an SMS, then have a look at the 3rd point from the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
If it won't vibrate at all, and only will make a sound I don't know the answer. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately it won't vibrate at all on receiving an SMS.
Even if the phone is awake and I get a message it does nothing apart from a little green 1 appears on the messaging icon - and the directional pad light flashes.
The other thing I've noticed when testing this is that the phone takes about 5 seconds to actually start 'ringing' when getting a call!

Mmm, bummer... Just tested it with my phone. I previously used the 'wake on SMS' edit, and now selected 'vibrate' and unchecked the sound alert for Messaging: New text message. It worked like a charm.

Same here, even with my previous HTC Wizard. I guess it has to do with WM devices in general!?
Hmmm... now I've just realised that my phone doesnt chime or anything when I get a text - despite me having a tone set.
I tried a soft reset - but this did nothing. I dont really want to try a hard reset as I will lose all my proggies etc.
I've maybe give the tweak above a try!
I've tried the above tweak, but I'm still having no success.
I'm getting absolutely no alert at all when i get a text message. With the tweak, the phone comes out of standby and the screen displays the message - but it won't chime or vibrate at all.
Any ideas?
A phone that won't alert me of a text is no use as most of my communication is through texting!
Finally resorted to a hard reset - which solved the problem.
Spent the last few hours reinstalling everything!!
Now time to make a sprite backup whilst I have everything sorted!

Phone keeps popping out of suspend

The screen keeps blinking back to full brightness, every 30 seconds or so, when it is left alone and the screen dims normally. It is as if something is pressing a button or touching the screen.
When I press the power button and send it to suspend mode, the backlight goes off, and the tilt no longer responds to touch or button pressing. For some reason it pops itself out of suspend and turns back on every couple minutes. My battery life is going down extremely fast. 100% to 40% in three hours.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched the forum but never found a specific topic for this issue.

I have the same problem w
th the backlight comming on by itself & battery life depletes extremely fast. I am using HD 15 Nov with 3.29.
In addition to backlight issue my hardware keys are no longer working.
Please has anyone got any advice
i have the same problem. the only thing that seems to work is doing the keypad lock and putting it to sleep. it will occasionally blink like its trying to come back on but doesnt. another thing i did is put my phone in flight mode, locking the keypad and putting it to sleep. when i do that it doesnt blink or anything. sadly i wont receive phone calls or emails and texts. i think the blinking has something to do with phone signal and accessing the networks.
hth
also i noticed that it wakes from sleep when the keypad "unlock" screen pops up.
i think i found a fix
Ok I hope this helps for you because it seems to work for me. I first went to start/settings/sounds & notifications. Then I clicked on the notification tab and unchecked everything leaving only the ringer on for when calls come in. when I did that, for about 5 minutes (longest I tested it at) the phone did not turn on and the backlight didn’t do that weird grayish flash thing. Afterwords I at first was going to go down the list of all notifications and turn things on/off to see what wakes up my phone but i got too lazy and only checked one setting. One thing I noticed is that when I have the beam: autorecieved notification turned on for display a message on the screen I get that weird backlight flickering thing. So for now I just have sound alerts on when I receive any type of messages and a sound alert for reminders. So far so good, my phone hasn’t woken from sleep in 20 minutes.

How to stop the light from flashing when you've missed a notification?

How to stop the light from flashing when you've missed a notification?
For example, when the battery reached 10%, it gets a low battery notification. Normally, if you press Dismiss, the light on the navigation control button will not flash anymore. But if you don't press Dismiss, the light will keep on flashing. However, if you wait too long or if your device is locked, you may miss the notification and the light will keep on flashing. How do you turn this off manually after you've missed the notification? I still want the notification to be enabled for next time, I don't want it disabled permanently, I just want to know how to press "Dismiss" again so that the light will stop flashing for this time.
Thanks.
Someone please help, thanks.
my diamond had the same problem.
what's even worse, when the battery reached 10% and i pressed Dismiss, the light on the navigation control button keep on flashing about every 30 seconds until i had it rebooted.

What version of ROM are you using? I'm using the official 2.03 and as long as I pressed Dismiss, the light will not flash. The problem is, sometimes I will miss to press Dismiss. This also doesn't only apply for low battery, it's for any type of notifications, but some notifications such as missed call and SMS, I can still stop the flashing even if I missed to press Dismiss, I just have to open the missed call tab or read the SMS.
CE version 5.2.21109
rom version 2.03.109.1 CHS
radio 1.11.25.01
i'm using some kind of cooked rom from a chinese pda forum.
now i can see that this seems to be a bug from this non-official rom.
could someone be able to tell me how to solve this problem without
flashing my diamond ?

That is called BLN ( back light notification). Try to find bln control in settings and make it off.
Go into Settings -> Profiles and select the profile
you want to change (if you don't use them, just
select Default). At the bottom of this next menu,
you'll see a section called Application Groups.
For every item in this list, you can select it, and
then turn Lights Mode to Off. This will stop BLN
from lighting up the buttons.
The BLN lights consume very, very VERY little
battery. As in, lets say you got a message as
soon as you unplugged your phone and they
stayed lit for the whole day - they would use less
than 1% of the battery. So don't worry about
BLN, it's not as bad as you may think.
Brilliant, thanks for your help :good:
