not applicable is the X1 battery dumb? - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

In WM 6.5 there is tab which supposedly looks to be able to tell a lot fun things about the phone battery. Like then it was last charged etc. But then I tab on it there is no information and it says "not applicable" Is that because the X1 battery is dumb?? Meaning its not a "smart battery" ?
//Frederik

Youhave the same feature in Wm 6.1, but as well as WM6.5 it says "not applicable" to every information.
I am curious as you are to know why it is not working.

two reason either the X1 battery is dumb or there is missing a smart battery link driver. Anyone knows?

wm6 backpack?

anyone tried to get the backpack workin on wm6?
I installed the wm2003 drivers, but just like wm5... it didn't work out..
i think if wm5 dont play nicely with it nor will wm6
it dont have drivers in it for other devices then what build in
so the question is wm6 is more likely to work with 2003 drivers
then wm5 is
@Bstard have you tried if the backpack at least does add battery life?
I installed the wm2003 driver and nothing happend, the system didn't recognize the battery ;-(
didn't test if there is extended battery life with the backpack attached

hi, i tried to on my Wm6, also didnt work.
Can you upload driver?
i want to try that makes work.
I tried this morning. To my surprise the VGA output from the backpack works. Unfortunately that's the least important feature for me. I can't find a CF card and it doesn't show up in battery status.
Unfortunately there are some other good reasons to uninstall these drivers now:
-phone dialer and/or xcpuscalar keep on popping up when I close other programs
-activesync refuses to connect
I very much appreciate Asukal's offer to look into it, I tried to upload the drivers I own but I get the error message "Upload backpack.zip failed" time and time again
Update: several versions of drivers can be downloaded from this thread on buzzdev:
http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_phorum&Itemid=125&phorum_query=read,6,267,1580#msg-1580
BTW Rictec is the only person that I found so far in any forum saying he had backpack battery status running in WM5
Several people have VGA output running under WM5 and WM6
I haven't found anyone who claims to have CF card functioning
I uploaded the backpackdriver.sa.cab in the uploads/himalaya folder

HTC ROM 6.1 : the Kaiser freezes all the time !!!

Hello again, I have this big problem with my Kaiser :
since I installed the last HTC 6.1 ROM update, my device randomly freezes for 10-20 seconds.
I also noticed that my devices sometimes slow down ...
Does anyone else have this problem ?
The solution : Downgrade to WM6 !
I think I've found where the problem is :
since I stopped using "Quick Menu", the Kaiser does not freeze anymore ...
That means this is another usefull application I will have to stop using with the HTC 6.1 ROM !!!
Sorry but I don't know what is Quick menu...

If you don't know it, that means you didn't install it on your Kaiser. So your freeze problems were not coming from this application. Sorry ...
The biggest bug i've been with wm6.1 : my kaiser soft reset alone all the time ! Maybe they're drunk when they're built this rom lol ! They should have write : THE MAGIC FUNNY WM6.1 RELEASE WITH GHOST TOUCH !
I disabled Weather tab and contacts tab with HTC home customizer. It seems to work well now. I will see if problem has really gone. Thank you for your help Dizzy. You gave a direction to my searchs
You're welcome ... But I use HTC home mainly for its contact and weather application ... So it's not a solution for me.
I noticed that orange france users had problems. Perhaps it is linked with our SIM CARD...
do you really need to post two threads on this?
I thought about using HTC's rom, but instead, i used dutty's lite rom, and built it up myself with what i wanted. Its a hell of a,lot faster, i wouldnt touch another oem htc rom ever again, they are full of rubbish, and slow as my old wizard
Finally I discovered that the problem didn't come from "Quick Menu", but from "HTC home" !!!!!
HTC home does slown down my Kaiser and is responsible for randoms freezes of it !
If I disable "HTC home" on the today setup screen, then everything is faster (start menu display ...).
I re-installed Quick-menu and now my Kaiser is working fine.
I will have to replace HTC home by a clone application ...
I haven't had any issues with my Kaiser freezing with the 3.28.405.0 WWE ROM, but then I haven't used ROM that was oficially released by HTC. Instead I've been using the one that was leaked out a couple of days before the official release.
Is it possible that the official ROM image is corrupted in some way? I've noticed this post over in the Kaiser ROM Development forum, which was posted today:

I'm not the only one having trouble with 6.1. They said in the next two days there will be a "new" version available.
The file we could download now is corrupt and they will upload a non corrupt version. Supposedly the file was corrupt by uploading to ftp server
I think they will release a patched version.

I've installed the official (English) rom I got from someone in the UK (there is none for TYTN II from Hong Kong being used in the USA as of yet ) and loved the idea that all I had to do is just install ( No hard SPL ) and everything seems fine. I have a lot of apps. installed and everything is fine.
I upgraded to the leaked ROM and have had nothing but Freezing problems !!
I turned off HTC home and this seemed to do the job...for about 12 hours and then wouldnt you know it, its slow again.
I did a hard reset and turned everything off, used Kaiser tweaks to change the cache options and its still not right.
I feel badly let down by this product. I upgraded from a blackberry 8800 which ran like a dream, no problems. I've always been alittle sceptical about Windows Mobile Products. I've owned many PDAs in the past and have always felt that they were always compromised. My Dell Axim X51v was a good PDA but too bulky to carry around. I've always been someone who wasnt bothered by Windows Mobile Devices because of their windows hang ups. Seems I was proved right, though I know this isnt necessarily a Windows thing, more likely a HTC thing....it still doesnt help !
I needed a product that offered, office apps, with internet and the ability to FTP easily at high speeds either over WiFi or 3g. The Vario III had the lot including imense flexability which made me give up my Blackberry (which was a big thing, trust me as I adored my blackberry,,,it was just alittle limited).
After having purchased HTC's almost flagship model I've feel totally let down, they knowingly shipped a product that was flawed and then released a dodgy fix that affectively made the device worse (for some of us!). Freezing all the time. When it wasnt freezing it was a pleasure to use...but seriously, i'm 5 weeks into using it and I'm absolutely pee'd off. I seem to be constantly looking for fixes all the time !! my wife thinks I've become bloody addicted to it, she wont listen when i tell her I'm trying to fix it. it always seems to be in my hand !! (the kaiser that is )
That blackberry of mine is going to be taken out of the box and this paper weight will be used as just that.
gutted man
Ste
You need to remove the HardSPL application from your Kaiser in order to stop the freezes ... Take a look at this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394783
It works ... Guaranteed !
Yes, the HardSPL is your problem, not HTC.
I tried the official htc e-club 6.1 and had lots of freezing issues. It would just freez for 20 seconds or so then start working again. Drove me crazy. I off-loaded it and re-loaded dutty's 6.1 hybrid and am very happy with it. Very stable, no more freezes either. I also reloaded mobile shell and found it to work much better than with the old 6.0. The memory issues, leaks etc. I had with shell on 6.0 seem to have become almost non-existant with this rom. And did I say batt life is heaven . I'm stickin' with what works for now.
I have the problem that Activesync is automatically turned on when I start the phone and it makes alot of problems but when I turn it off it usually solves it - anyone know how to fix this?

I have the e-club 6.1 and am experiencing the same freezes. Really annoying. I think there is a pattern that when I turn off the phone, the freezes go away.

I had a similar issue where Activesync would start running on my phone every so many minutes, when looking in the task manager it would be running. I fixed that by running task manager v2.8 from Fdcsoft you can download it from here http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm with that go to notification and disable replog.exe (AppRunAfterTimeChange). This does not affect active sync working when connecting to a pc or with push email.

Problems so far .....

Having used the phone for x2 days here are a list of the problems I have noticed so far ...
1) Battery life sucks. After a full recharge overnight the phone lasts from about 8am to 5pm, and that is without using it too much. I have pushmail activated so GPRS is always on.
2) The reception is definitely not as good (c/w trinity and tytnII). I am on T-mobile in the UK. My reception at work is not usually that good, but now it is non existant.
3) At times the Touchflo 3D menu can be quick jerky/sluggish taking more than a few seconds to refresh which makes selecting the correct menu item difficult. Other times it is smooth and works well.
4) Very tempermental when answering a call. Often cuts off after a few rings or when the green button is pressed. My wav ring tone file doesn't start properly and is distorted intially, then begins to work.
5) Despite having a gprs connection the weather doesn't always update.
6) On the browser tab of the TouchFlo, it can be difficult to select one of your favorite links, it doesn't always select.
Agree with above. In addition:
1. Does not remember backlight settings in battery e.g. I would like the backlight to remain for 1 min, but it always defaults to 10 sec (I have unchecked auto light adjustment)
2. Does not remember phone view settings under MENU\VIEW. I would like it to display ALL CALLS, but it defaults to CALLS AND CONTACTS even without a reset i.e. if I exit the phone screen and return after a few minutes, it shows this behavior.
3. ROM definately slower than Athena AP4 (6.1 base) by PK.
4. I thought it had 256 ROM and 192 RAM (thats what the box says), but the memory app reports 82.81 and 133.08M respectively (waiting for Comnex, PK team to see if they can come up with a similar cracker that they did for Athena)
I definately agree with the signal strength, my touch cruise had stellar signal strength in my house, the diamond is poor.
not had chance to fully test battery.
My weather has always updated regularly and phone calls have been great on 3uk, no dropped calls at all.
Touch flow 3d is taking some getting used to but i definately think its an improvement.
All in all my moans are:
1. Signal not as good as cruise.
2. It was nice to have memory card in touch cruise (8gig) for dam fast file transfer (when taken out and used as usb drive) the 4 gig in the diamond is quite sluggish if your moving a lot of files.
Earlier this week I could have sworn you all would think I am nuts when I did my review.. I guess you are all experiencing the same problems I had!! HTC needs to fix!
The ringer is also quite soft !!!!
I'm sure a radio update, albeit not for USA, will be out and will improve reception!
If there really is a software issue thats holding back the UK release i'm sure you can expect a new rom in a matter of days.
But since all current diamonds are grey, where would you get that rom from?
Also if they are branded for a HK operator will you even be able to install the HTC rom without hard/soft spl.
Is anyone with a diamond able to register to any HTC site? UK, USA or HK?
Why are they saying they are grey?? All Diamonds are made in HongKong anyway!

Physically there's no difference of course, its just the serial number - which means HTC may not honour waranty in a different country, and possibly CID lock if its made for an operator - which means generic roms may not work.
In this case i think its just about the waranty and not being able to register to the HTC website to get ROMs.

the HTC site isnt accepting ANY diamond serial numbers yet as it has not been updated...
An update on the ROM though, HTC have identified some "undocumented features" and promise an update but will take a few months...

From what i've seen this is based on ONE guy who called HTC and says he was told that. That then got posted in various forums slightly modified, and now it seems it has turned into 'i have my sources...'
I'll wait for official confirmation thanks

then pull up a chair and get in line with everyone else, because we all know HTC are hopless when it comes to "official" confirmation.
As if ANY company will own up to "undocumented features" in ANY product.

What about the camera on the diamond ?
Is it the same as on the tytn2 and touch cruise (meaning dropping fps and lagging as hell in darker places) ?
the camera seems quicker in darker conditions, on other thing i need help on, how do you delete files in the windows folder, i need to free up some space as these vga apps kill the free storage space and i like to keep most progs installed to the main mem. The reason i ask is because there is alot of wasted space ie the opera cab file is in the windows folder at 4meg. i have resco explorer but cant unchecck "rom file". This opera browser is amazingly fast btw!

afaik you cant delete those files. to get rid of those you need your own cooked rom, where you exclude those files, before uploading the rom to your device.
there is a lot of information about rom cooking in the hermes thread and in the wiki, if you are interested.
hope that helps,

How to tell TomTom is actually using QuickGPS?

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to work out if TomTom is actually using QuickGPS data?
On my old phone (which also had QuickGPS) when I went into the GPS details immediately after loading TomTom I'd see loads of satalites listed on the histogram before I actually got a lock. Now when I do a cold start they don't show until I've got a lock. For a warm start they do show and I get a very quick lock, but I'm guessing the QuickGPS data is more for speeding up the cold starts.
Also does anyone know if it makes a difference whether I choose "Internal GPS Device" or "Othe NMEA Device"? Either seems to work
Thanks
Dan

When the HTC TyTN II WWE WM 6.1 upgrade that wasn't first came out and GPS performance fell through the floor, there was speculation that QuickGPS wasn't doing its thing and that this was (at least part of) the reason for the very poor GPS performance and extended times to get a lock. Short of timed testing to achieve a satelite lock which isn't conclusive, I'm not aware of a way to prove that the data is being used by Tomtom or any other navigation software but it might be worth reviewing/searching among some of those past threads on the topic. Theres also alot of discussion in the Raphael forum about poor GPS performance on some Touch Pro devices and some of that is at 'nuts and bolts' level.

Yes it is. Have a read of the Kaiser GPS Enhancement Guide for some general information in this field but a seach should also yield LOTS on the topic.

I had it suggested to me (by HTC) to use the latter and configure the port manually but after much trialling this, I found it didn't fix the problem of poor GPS performance and as far as I was concerned was a waste of time. Given the version of Tomtom Navigator 6.032 was a special one co-developed with HTCs assistance for their devices, I cant see why changing away from 'Internal' should be benificial. In the end my slow fix fix only came with reverting to WM 6.0 for me. I believe some later WM 6.1 ROM/Radio/SPL combinations now offer GPS performance which is much better than earlier WM 6.1 implementations but as these aren't (yet) available through HTCs UK website for my device and I know what I currently have works very well, I'm staying with the official WM 6.0 setup for now. My device is out of warranty, so one day I may try another setup for comparison (say the latest Hong Kong WWE ROM/Radio/SPL).
Thanks - I'm experimenting with radio at the moment and I have managed to get some improvement, but it's annoying not being sure if QuickGPS is really working

Have you seen this thread about Hopeless GPS after WM 6.1 update yet? Since you're in the UK I'm interested to know how your GPS under WM 6.1 with your fairly new Radio is performing. What sort of times do you get standing still out in the open to get a 'cold' satelite lock? Have you tested with that 1.71xxxx eMO Radio as well? I believe the SPL version can also make a difference to GPS performance but I don't know any more about why that is.
In the last couple of days I've tried the 1.70.19.09 and 1.70.18.02 radios. They seem to have a much better GPS performance than 1.58.25.17 which I was on before. It's only been a couple of days though so I can't be 100%

New O2 official toch HD 1.57.201.1 ROM

ok sorry folks if i missed it's already posted but i found the new German ROM at the homepage today, hope that's even the right place, but too important to keep this info
has any one tried this ROM?
Hello every body, it seems like nobody has tried that ROM yet?
Would be realy interessting to know if this one supports the HomeZone or still not?
the old one also supports the homezone...it's just not visible on the home screen...cause of the "3g o2-de" text. But it's working. The same issue have all diamond2 devices.
So I made a dump...it has nothing interesting in it...homezone is HZService_O2DE_1_30_33995_1...which is the same as in the diamond2 rom.
Thank you for info!
Thank you for info, I'll rafher stay with Miri v.23
Isn't the homezone working with all ROMs? I'm not very often "at home" but I think when I was there I had the homezone symbol. I'm using Duttys ROMs.
In each case even if you don't see the symbol o2 should bill the homezone rates if you're in it, don't they?
