Hi,
I added some cities to my weather database, using the way described in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514264
Now I find that the weather screen always shows the weather for the time I downloaded the weather information. So if I download the weather at night there is still a moon the next day.
I removed the added cities already but there is no change...
I hope there is a way to fix that and to properly add my cities so I dont have to download new data everytime again.
My D2 shows it from the start when I had cities selected from factory menu. After dark there was moon and in the day time sun, until next update. Same like you have described. I've thought it is OK

Is there a cab file for att tilt that puts the weather forecast on the homescreen? I don't want the htc home either- its over-rated, buggy, and almost always an inaccurate forecast. its more like a postcast. I have no use for that.
Weather on Today screen
I would recommend that you use something like SPB Weather or Pocket weather. There are several good today screen weather apps out there. Many have a trial ware that you could test out to see what you think. I wish the HTC Home weather app could be modified to show more info and such.

I'm working on a Homescreen PlusPlus theme that uses a mortscript weather(accuweather feed)that I wrote. Has icons in sliding dock at bottom for the 5 page views and other icons for app launching. The notifications appear on main screen when they don't have a 0 count(otherwise they are invisible). Weather has current page(current condition, precip, humidity, visibility, barometer, winds, sunset and rise, uv level, air pollen level, dewpoint), forecast page(forecast temps, conditions, estimated precip, winds), and radar page. Homescreen plusplus also supports gestures, so you can swipe to side to change views also. Like I said though, still working on it, should be done in a few days.
On the main Clock with the Weather under it, is there a way to stop it from trying to sync/update the weather everytime you unlock the phone?
I can't find a setting for this anywhere, I like having the weather and clock there, but it needs to stop killing performance when it doesn't need to check weather but every hour or so.
Click on the weather/clock and hit menu and go to settings. You can turn off automatic update.
That only seems to turn it off on the weather application- not the clock.
I have started using the LG Stock Weather & Clock widget on my Optimus 2x.
I am finding that when I go to a different geographical location and refresh/update the weather it does not change to the location I am at, instead it just stays as the location I entered when I added the widget to the home screen.
Does anyone have the same issue?
It's not an issue, but a feature! This widget does not auto-update the location as you may be used to from Beautiful Widgets. It also has no auto-refresh schedule. I have seen it auto-update the weather conditions at regular intervals, though. But not sure what it's schedule is.
That's a shame it doesn't update the location. Hopefully they add the option in 2.3, might have to move to Go Weather instead.
Ok I'm running a stock Gear with Galaxy S3 LTE 4.3 And Accuweather HD widget and Accuweather app. Both are set to the same cities, home, New York and Gilbert AZ which I use for work. The home city is updating hourly as per Gear Manager settings.
However the watch is not updating either NewYork or Gilbert, plus Los Angeles which is not even on the Accuweather app! All these cities show last update of 12th Jan and do not do anything. Samsung hd in the UK haven't got a clue; furthermore they don't even have a Gear to replicate the issue!
Can any one help get these subsidiary cities to update? I've restored, rebooted and wiped all the apps and gear. Nothing.
Live and learn. I never knew you could scroll left and right on the weather to see additional cities. What you're having trouble with does work on mine. Although, as I'm typing, the geo-located city won't update and still shows an earlier time than the non-geo-located cities.
Are you using the Samsung weather app? Third party apps, even those sourcing from Accuweather, have no impact on what's shown on the Gear. There are two places on your phone to adjust the weather on your Gear. The Samsung Weather widget (clock) and on the lock screen when you drag down the clock to expose the weather and agenda. Third party apps, even by Accuweather, have no impact on the Gear's weather display.
If you click on the Weather Widget on your home page...
This pops up...
It's where you can control the weather the Gear sees. It and the lock screen pull down are also where you go to refresh the weather on the Gear if it's out of date. And if it is out of date it's not because of the Gear it's because Samsung's Weather app failed to refresh when you set it to. You'll notice that the update time on the Gear is always the update time from the Samsung Weather app.
P.S. - I don't use the Samsung Weather widget. So when I need to access it I'll delete a widget like Flipboard that's the same size and place it there while I'm working on it. I delete it when I'm done and put Flipboard back.

Thank you! Actually I don't have the Samsung weather running on lock screen, the S3 I have only allows clock and custom message. And the widget isn't shown either. So....what I did was to download the S3 weather shortcut app from playstore and BINGO! I have the cities all there! So now I can update the settings, and hopefully the Gear will also update!
I am trying to get as much out of the Gear without rooting and this is the last major problem I faced. So thank you again!
All working 100% so thank you again!
you can get a five day forecast for any city added to your Gear if you tap on its initial location. Swipe to go back.

And thank you. I downloaded a shortcut creator from Play and created a link like yours for the S3 to the Samsung Weather app so I'd don't have to swap widgets to access it. And the shortcut stays even after removing the app (I hate keeping one-off apps installed).

Me too. I have created a folder on the S3 home page called Gear Apps which contains the shortcut and other apps like Gear Manager and Tablet Talk. Makes it easy to access the specific apps I need for the Gear.
I may well attempt to root for full internet access via Bluetooth tethering when the Gear 2 comes out and this becomes surplus. At the moment I'm just having fun trying to push stock to it's limits!
One other question, that you or someone may be able to answer.... I have no contact names showing only numbers in tablet talk messaging. I have a .vcf file of all the contacts from my 'phone. Which folder should this go in on the Gear to ensure all the numbers receive the contact names? I can transfer using Wondershare MobileGo. Thank you!
Hello people,
For the past month or so, I'm facing a weird issue with the HTC Weather app.
Only at night, between 00:00 and 05:00, when I open the weather app I get wrong temperature, wrong weather conditions and no weather stats (humidity, wind force and direction and visibility all show a single dash).
For example, 20 minutes ago (before midnight, local time), clock and weather widget was showing 12 degrees here and scattered clouds (which is the correct weather according to accuweather app). I just opened the weather app (its 20 minutes after midnight local time) and it shows 15 degrees and rain, with dashes instead of humidity, wind and visibility.
Same thing is happening with the new HTC Lockscreen update from Play Store. The clock/weather widget that comes with the lockscreen update (the sense 7 one) and the sense 7 weather widget I got from another thread here, both always show the "wrong" temperature and conditions, again only during the night. Plus, if let's say at 23:00 I set the clock one hour later manually, I get the same bug. That means it could have something to do with the clock app?
With the new HTC weather update the issue is far from fixed. Where in the stock app showed the correct weather on open (I needed to update weather to show the "wrong" weather and I had the "update on open" option disabled), the new app shows the "wrong" weather on start, even with said option disabled.
I have two more reports of this from friends (one has a completely stock device) so it can't be a ROM issue, otherwise I guess it would also happen all the time, not just during the night. It must be an HTC issue since the accuweather app works correctly. I tried clearing data on a bunch of different apps, checked power settings just in case I had data/sync disabled during this hour, even reflashed the rom, no luck.
Anyone else facing this? Any fix?
Grrr...
Yes! I also have this problem. At midnight 0.00h. the weather widget changes to cloudy with rain when it's actually clear outside. I don't know if it's till 5.00h am because i'm sleeping then but when i wake up it's okay again. Turning off automatic time doesn't help. I used to think it was rom related too but now i know it's the freakin weather widget. This needs to be fixed. RIGHT NOW!
Well, I fixed it by uninstalling the HTC Service Pack updates, leaving the stock one which came with my rom (version 1.1.853606, ROM is ViperOne 8.0.0). That fixed my weird/wrong weather data between midnight and early morning.

Solved.
