HTC Touch Diamond GPS Problems Solved Here!

I've seen many threads regarding poor (if not non existant) gps signals related to the HTC Touch Diamond.
Pretty much all of them suggest setting issue in windows 6.1, etc. Me thinks you are all looking at the wrong cause.
Here's the answer (trust me on this)!....
We all know that the original slimline battery that comes with the HTC TD is pretty much useless when it comes to life....lucky to get 4hrs on standby?
OK, so then you go and buy the cheep extended battery - you know - the huge slab that comes with an additional back for your phone - coz it's too big for the original.
Gives you great battery life (or should I say - gives you 'normal battery life' in comparison to other phones).
Basically, your GPS antenna is being 'wiped out' by the EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) of the bigger battery - the signal is being scambled completely and you would be lucky to get a fix under 20 minutes with this installed.
For those of you gettin this problem - simply plug in your original battery....
....bet you get a strong lock under a minute!
I've tested this extensively using HTC GPS Tool and the results to me are conclusive.
Would be grateful to hear comments back on this post....
I suggest you try searching the forum... this is very, very common knowledge!
Not just common knowledge, it doesn't solve GPS issues for most people, as most people don't have this battery.
Misleading topic name.

Scooter, don't let them put you off posting - keep adding your tips. As you say, they may help someone.
actually there is a fix for solving the gps problem with a large battery using a small piece of aluminium foil underneath the cover. Its been posted before here and originated on a Russian site and it seemed to work for most users.

Anyway this post helped me. Thank you!
I have no problems with GPS reception, but I was thinking of getting the 2000mAh battery. But I changed my mind...

Thanks men, good for us

I need the best rom in terms of performance and battery consumption

plz i want to get a excellent rom and good in terms of battery consumption of applications and I want to get the best rom and tested plz
well you better get flashing!
for your information, it takes us a good couple of months of trying plenty of cooked ROMs so to answer your question. You should take this path mate, It is a difficult one, by learning how each ROM behaves and performs you can make your own judgement which one best suits your needs. Also the lessons and knowledge (and pitfalls) you will earn along the way is worth it. Being a member here in XDA is a great hobby for me, it makes me proud to say that by just sitting in front of my computer i am still able to help others in this journey.
also you might find it helpful to read the forum rules as this query of yours in inappropriate here.
Hmm, let's see. I'd like a Rom with HTC Sense from Android, but instead on Windows Mobile 7. Oh and when you're busy with that, i'd like multitouch and HD gaming and a nuclear battery that lasts 2.500 years.
I'll have what he's having
As you can tell by others above, you aren't going to get an accurate response to your query.
Everyone will have different answers to your query from using different tests and from practible use.
Best advice would be to read the benchmarks schedule here and then test roms yourself

[Q] Yoobao portable backup battery

Hi guys Im not sure if this is where i should be asking my question , so by all means plz feel free to move this post if need be.
Ok so to my inquiry I recently purchased a portable backup battery from ebay (Yoobao YB-631 - 6600mah) & am woundering if anyone else has brought or had previous experiences with this battery & company that could shed some light for me?
Im curious to know about things like how reliable it is , how much more battery time & juice users have gotten from it.
I realize that when i get the item my results in battery time/status will probaly vary compared to other users & am not expecting similar results , Im more just looking for some insight on the item.
Anway Ill stop there for now & all tips , info & anything else anyone provides will be greatly appericated.
Thanks guys!

Ok 2 days now & still no info? Bump.
ridiculous!
Well yet again im dissapointed with the lack of help & communication around these forums this making it my 2nd time now , i dono if ppl are plain straight out ignorant as i thought my inquiry/question was fairly straight foward & understandable but each time this happens im slowly becoming more discouraged from using these forums or recomending them to anyone or friends for the simple fact it doesnt serve or reflect well back to the site.
Yeh im having whinge after waiting more then a week only to realize my question was seemingly ignored..
It seems as though around here no one really gives about anyone else just as long as you get what you want.
WTF do you want, what's your problem?
If nobody had that battery then that's that.
You can't expect people to have this battery just because you ordered it... if no one here has any comments you have to expect no replies and maybe post your own review when you have tested it instead of whining about no answers!

WTF's my problem? Asshats like you perhaps? As you'd gather I dont like been cursed at.
2ndly as stated my problem was seeming like my question was ignored is the part that somwhat annoyed me , as you think somone would have stated what you was quiet rude about much earlier then dragging it out for over a week. Then its funny the next comment somone made after yours i didnt find so rude & kinda more helpful meaning you were the only one so far who felt it necesoray to be rude why is that? nvm your an ass!
Sortout your isues mate. Obviously no one has this battery pack.
If you can contribute and state the performance of the battery good, if not ......

Sort out my issues? As you can see from my begining post i had asked nicely & after not getting anything i bumped it & what do you know wow after 11 days or so guess what? still no response! Yeh i made i comment about been dissapointed as i was & still am & now instead of getting any advice all ppl wont to do is accuse you of having issues because i got somwhat frustrated after begging for any input & was more or less still left in the dark.
Nice to see ppl twist stuff around & try to claim you have issues over been frustrated about asshats that wont give u any input.Do me a favor sort out yours & let me know then ill think about working on mine.
The question is... what do you expect?
In your case, do you answer every thread although you don't have any idea about what are asking?
I've readed the thread, yeah, and I hadn't replied to it because I have no ****ing idea and I don't know how to help you.
Extend this to the whole forum... It's necessary a man who answer the unanswered therads only for calm-the-asker purposes?
Take it easy, please.
from specs... what you should get...
Product page here seems it's a big lantern with USB out.. probably it will last you 2-3 recharge cycles at quite slower speed (800mA max) from a wall recharger 1000mA...
This is what I would expect from this battery... if you get 4 charges out of it I would be extremely happy...
Now... you should of asked this question on a more general forum, there is a slim chance that another user here has the same, or another torch with USB for charging a phone... I use the cars's USB port for charging over long distances, and if you keep an eye open the phone should last you a good 2-3 days so it's not really needed...
..or you could simply google it "Yoobao battery review"...it yielded several hits with things that you might need.
or do a search here and you'll find this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522146&page=2
it might not be exactly the same but gives you an overview of the battery.
a little search wouldn't hurt.

Best battery life in ICS

Hi,
Just wondering which ICS rom you guys have got the best battery life out of?
I've tried AOKP Milestone 6 & CM9 20120727 both.
Must say the AOKP had better battery. Could easily cross 24+ hours

Rather than get upset, why don't you point him in the right direction Chris. Just give him the link to the post you think is relevant. Your a senior member what seems easy for you might be difficult for another. Pls just take it easy on the newbies and guide them right.
Nb: I know its annoying, I get upset too at the ridiculous post at times but I just try to keep my cool, we all should.

I owe an apology that I have been to rough in my comments here and agree with wesleyel. It IS more important to guide rather than growl.
I might have forgotten my own postings and I might have more experience from several forums, so I should know better. Also, to our most welcome new members: Read, then read more. Search and use the varst source of information before you post. Many times the answer is right infront of you, or asked/posted earlier in the same thread. If you do look else where you will also benefit from picking up more that you can share, even solve some problems too.
I keep going on with this a bit because it makes it easier for all of us to get proper info faster without having to read about topics spilled all over the place.
Also, reflect a second over what you are asking about/for. Is there a possibility in getting a scientific and correct answere? Like battery backup i ty is very hard to reach such a result because of how we use and set our piece. Maybe you would like to ask around benchmarking instead and take part in how to set rules around this instead?
Just a bit if brain food and trying to be construtive around the subject of posting and such. Peace to all!

That post is for best custom ROM.
That can be different for different people. Some want ROM for gaming, others stability, others battery, other overall performance.
I was specifically interested in knowing about battery life as I have noticed that even with the same settings SetCPU, display etc each custom ROM gives a different battery output.
I travel a lot and battery life is very important for me.
