Currently my Touch Pro is running the WM6.1 that I got it with from Telus.
Is there any way to upgrade this to WM6.5? Like going through Windows Update I see nothing.

Of course.look here. Make sure you look at the thread called flashing for noobs first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=440
In order to do this you will need to flash a custom ROM, visit this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008 and read everything you can about ROM upgrades and definately flash Hard Spl to your device before doing any ROM upgrade!
The only issue is that the version of the Touch Pro that I have is CDMA and I saw nothing in that thread about flashing ROMs it.

Nevermind, I didn't fully read the thread.
Once I have it flashed, I can use any type of ROM right? Only the flashing is device specific?

I didn't realize you had a cdma touchpro. you can only flash cdma ROMs not gsm. The link I posted above is not the right one for you.

Over on PPCGeeks is a bunch of CDMA 6.5 roms that you can use: XDA is more for GSM ROM's while most of the CDMA roms are over on PPCGeeks.

I have been extensively reading the threads and cannot seem to find the answer. I apologize for my noviceness. I went to the HTC site and it gave me this ROM to update on my phone. I use the phone in the US:
1. Will this ROM change my US settings?
2. Has anyone up upgraded to this and is the performance better?
Thanks for your help.
surely this rom is better
all your data will be erased.
but when you make the download, you'l have to choose the country and operator and local settings will be fine. The roms are different between different countries
yup i upgraded to that specific rom. The language is still english. Everything on YOUR DEVICE (not internal storage) is gone. The speed of TF3D is much faster as HTC has removed many of the animations. The phone will also get better reception and become quadband thanks to the new radio.
Thank you, do you use T-Mobile Use.

Heyy... Just got one question guyz... I am from India and all these official ROMs are for UK/Europe or HK....I just wanted to know whether flashing any of these ROMS (i would be flashing the english version) can bring any harm to my HD as I am confused as to whether each radio/ rom upgrade caters to different geographic parts or what? Plz answer my query. Thx in advance
well i have been flashing different ROMs and upgraded various radio versions no problems faced so far
A ROM Update is independent from your current geographical location, but it could harm your phone. It is just an software update like to update your Windows.
But the Radio-ROM is region-specific, so you have to try which works the best for you or simply just stick to your current one.

As long as you have either USPL or HSPL on your device you can flash any HD rom. Think of the latest roms as upgrades from stock roms. These are not country or region specific and will work on all HD's.
Only thing you have to look out for is the radio. Some roms come with radio's built in, for example Duttys latest roms come with radio 1.14 built in. Radio's are country/region specific and signal/reception will be different. Good news is that you can flash any radio you want after you have flashed the rom. All available radio's are in the wiki here. If you read up on radio thread you shoud be able to determine which is best for your country by the responses of people which use it.
Good luck!!

You need to do search my friend. Whatever your question is, try to search and you will find the answer.
In your case, if you like to flash your device to windows 6.5, you'll first need to do HardSPL. You can find the "how to" in this thread and this thread.
Then, you can choose and download any ROM you like. There are plenty of choices.
Just follow the instruction to flash the ROM....I think every instruction is clearly enough to understand.
I did search and i downloaded the hardSPL program but I didnt use it because it was going to download an older rom than the one i have right now.
How do you guys know which ROM to use? I just want the latest one.

I guess ill do a mini mini mani mo and pick one. thanks!
Oh one more question, so why is the Hard SPL trying to revert my current rom to an old one. Is that what I have to do?

before flash any custom ROM you have to do hard-spl JUST ONCE THOUGH, have fun
hey!
1. you got the latest update for your ROM from SE. that means you are on a "official ROM" or "stock" ROM.
it's suppose to be running on windows mobile 6.1.
2. there is NO "official" 6.5 ROM for the X1 (yet)
3. when you see ROMs saying they are running on 6.5 they are called "custom" ROMs.
custom roms, as the word suggests, are customized by great chefs here on xda to maximize the capabilities of X1 and windows mobile,
that includes the latest updates either from SE or windows (or HTC)
4. there are also 6.1 custom roms
5. the date any custom rom is released suggests it is the latest.
6. there are different "cooks" who may release the same build/update
my suggestion:
try each rom one at a time. sooner or later you'll find one that will suit your taste.
(i think this is the norm here on xda ). and imho, this is how it should be.
if you want the latest agent_47 will not fail you. he's almost always has the latest updates.
if you want a simple & stable rom go for jack's. (with multi-language support)
for pure X1 & wm, look for spikegotti's rom or gtrab's
later you can try itje's, rotastrain's, killer8nl's, etc which are all great.
i hope that clears your confusion. enjoy!
be sure to hard-spl first.
aww you guys are so helpful. thanks im sorry but i will be sending you a PM if i need help. lol

I'm sorry for doing this, I know maybe I post this in a wrong place, but I've just download and installed a ROM to my TP2 Verizon version, then it just stuck at the Bootloader and cannot boot into the ROM. I dont know why, or these ROM are just for GSM version of TP2 and doesn't support my Verizon's one?
I've tried to find the Original ROM of Verizon for my device but cannot find anything, can anyone help me with this?

The ROMs in this subforum are not for your Verizon phone. You need to flash a CDMA (verizon & sprint) ROM, such as this one, a custom one by NRGZ28.
You may need to use the microSD card method (Step 3 here) if the USB-activsync method doesn't work.
thanks dude. I've just re-install the CDMA Rom that you gave me. But I cannot use the phone. When I enter the phone mode, it said that "Initial Programing Required". Please help me. I dont know what to do with this
I remember using *228 on a Sprint phone, worked to "reprogram my phone".

Have you posted this problem in the Rhodium CDMA subforum?
It's okie now, thanks guy. All I have to do is just select the Network option to GSM only from Global mode.
But the problem now is just the keyboard with some wrong symbols, I'm finding a fixing cab for it, if anyone got it, please send me to [email protected].
Once again, thanks you guys for helping me.

ok hey guys i was wondering, Once you root your phone and install a custom rom is there any way to go all the way back to the original rom and unroot? i also wanted to know how do we know if we need to update the radio? or does that only apply to gsm phones?

The search button is there, so I would use it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654119
Thats not ONLY for unrooting, but it has the steps there to get back to 100% stock and unroot.
As far as I know, there isn't really a way of knowing if you NEED to flash an updated radio, but there's no harm in trying the ones available, and seeing if you notice any difference in them.
thanks. and yea your right i blanked out about the search bar. lol ok but about the radio, i can update it and everything will be fine?
Before updating your radio make sure it's for CDMA and not GSM. Before I knew what I was doing with my phone I applied a GSM radio update and bricked my phone.
If you are running a 1.5 based ROM there really isn't a need to update the radio.
does that also count if im going to install the pancake 2.1 rom?
pankcake 2.1 is a 2.1 ROM. Check the Baseband version under Setting->About Phone->Software Information to see what version you are running after you flash pancake 2.1. If you would like to upgrade check out "Radios" section on the CDMA Hero ROMs at
wiki . xda-developers . com / index . php ? pagename = CDMA %20 Hero %20 ROMs
(Had to split up URL since I'm a noob user on the forum.)
geekfor . me also has a nice radio section.
And as flipz states
Different radios work differently depending on where you are in the country. You may actually get better performance out of another radio. Test them out.

oh wow. different radios =better signal! how cool! i am really worried about bricking my phone. I need my phone and i really want to but im scared. im trying to learn all i can befor i do it. can you un brick?
Sent from my HERO200 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
You can't unbrick all you can do is replace. I was able to get a replacement phone when I bricked my phone by applying a GSM radio update by mistake.
If you apply a CDMA radio update from the Radios section on the CDMA Hero ROMs wiki page then you should be good. Follow the instructions on the Geek For Me FAQ. Flipz knows his stuff.
As with any update I recommend doing a nandroid backup before you apply it just in case the update has undesired affects.
I'm currently running 2.42.00.03.10 on Fresh 2.0d with no issue.
Good luck!
