I cannot edit existing icons using AnyCut since from what I've read there are incompatibility problems between AnyCut and Cupcake.
Is there any other app I can use to edit existing app icons in my menu?
I know BetterCut is an enhanced version of AnyCut but since I don't have access to paid apps it would be nice if someone could confirm that it works properly with Cupcake before I proceed to enable market for paid apps (I am kinda newb when it comes to android and I am hesitating to root my phone).
Thanks.

Yep no pay apps on the market not even if I scan a QR code wont let me see it any ideas on how to fix this...?
Google has not opened the Paid apps market to the whole world but only to a limited number of countries. It's annoying, I know.
If you still would like to see and purchase the paid apps, you must root your phone first and then install the application called Market Enabler and it will make some changes to fool Big G that you're from US on Tmobile networks and eventually open up the app store.
Theres still an other option. Find paid apps through other means, purchase through the developer's own site so they give you an .apk installer for manual installation. This method is the only option left if you don't want to root your phone like me.

Carty..

"Long Press" the provider you want to fake. Make sure you have the latest beta version from the developers googlecode home page.
I just rooted my nexus today from the androidandme website. I added CyanogenMod-5.0.5.2, once I rebooted though, I don't have the market app, or any of the google/gmail items, where did I go wrong?

The add on is on the link at his forum
I had the same problem, but only wanted the market app, is there any way to just get that?
Install the google add on
I don't think you can get the android market alone. G-talk is needed to recognize apps in the download list. Think it best to flash the add-on.
I had an application some time ago it was an alternative android market (not slide - this actually uses the market it's just a customised app) which had a widget and allowed you to block certain developers. Does this still work/exist and can someone please direct me to it.
It might be MyMarket you are looking for, not showing in the Market using VillainROM 5.0 so i guess it is only for 1.5 roms.
Before I returned it a couple months ago I had an application on the captivate that would allow me to install apps from the Market AT&T had blocked. Now, I believe what it would do is clone a certain value on the phone and make google's market think I was a T-Mobile user trying to connect. (Or any of the other carriers I could choose from)
Does anyone use this or can recall what it is called? I seem to have forgotten and can't find it through my searching.
Or, can anyone give me a better to way to install applications. I like this method because it makes for easy updating.
Thanks!
It is called Market Access. It is not something you can get on the Android Market. I got mine in previous ROM's that would have it included. This was before they would script market access into the ROM on its own.

Thanks guys! I'm using cognition 2.1.5. Do you know if its scripted in?
I'm getting an error message even with cognition when trying to install AT&T blocked apps.

will this work with froyo
Yes, works with Froyo. However, it seems that you can't have opened the Market first before enabling Market Access- if Market had been opened, the phone needs to be rebooted and then T-Mobile has to be emulated first. Then it worked fine.
Does anyone know of a way I can block the market from my toddler? He just figured out how to buy apps and every time I look at my phone he has a new one on.
I'm thinking of making a script to copy the market apk somewhere and another script to restore it so I can use it when I want, but is there another way?
Wouldn't it be easy if you sign in with an google account which does not have credit card linked to it?

Ahhh..
My generation played with Light-Brights , now toddlers are buying apps from the market.
How about Airplane Mode?
Or something like APN on-off, and just kill the wi-fi connection.
This might not be the solution you're looking for, but if you use a third party launcher (LauncherPRO, ADW Launcher, GO Launcher, etc) you can hide the market icon, and showing it again is only a few clicks away.
It would stop him from accessing the market unless he finds out how to show hidden apps . Plus third party launchers can be a lot of fun, they add a lot of features and customization.
Why do you even let your kid use your phone?
Try DroidWall
Try DroidWall, I am using it to block my Market.
Zoodles KidMode is an app that locks the phone into a kids area, so they can only access age appropriate games and videos in a sandboxed environment. Might be worth investigating. It would mean they couldn't access other games on the phone they might be used to, but out does protect the phone somewhat!
You can get it for free on the market.
