so I tried to Root my Dream and choose after a number of failed attempts I have decided to just give up so I want to wipe and restore my phone's OS the factory but when I try though the settings menu the phone restarts then just sits on the "Rodgers" logo for ever so is there anyway to fix that?
Don't give up so soon
I definitely recommend rooting. The rogers firmware sucks by default imo. I did not like my phone at all until I rooted.
Check this guide by HyeProfile, I just used it on a new rogers dream and it worked 100%:

If you really don't want to root, you can follow the steps to try flashing (using the same instructions he gives in that post) with the official rogers radio.img and recovery.img here: http://www.stevebirstok.com/android/losemyroot.zip
well I hate how slow my phone feels so I'm going in for the root again thanks for the push to try again.
ok ran into an issue:

that means it can't see your sdcard.
see if dropping into the recovery console(alt+x) and typing
Code:
mount /sdcard
recovery
see if that helps anything since that command will mount your sdcard which it appears to be failing to read.
when I try enter the console all the options are removed form the screen then nothing happens all I see is the yellow text.
The yellow text I'm talking about is the error message I posted.
if you are trying to unroot it, use the same rc package that you use to downgrade it in the bootloader (camera and power) and run the .nbh there

Are you sure your sdcard is formatted to FAT32?
I'm going o try that when I get home
ok so it's weird.
E:Multiple firmware images
E:can't store hboot images
E:failure at line 1
write_hboot_image PACKAGE:hboot.img

ok so now it just sits on the "Rogers" logo and wont enter any mode (camara+power)
edit: looks like that means I biked the thing hope they will replace it (i'll just blame it on their firmware update thing)
edit2: calling rogers to try get a replacement
will it it read an .nbh in the bootloader?
I don't know how can I test that or see if it will?
I was refering to the dreaimg.nbh from either rc29 or rc7 that you use to downgrade your phone in order to root it, that use the bootloader camera + power
no it wont enter any mode at all just sits on the rogers logo so a new phone should show up in the next 3 to 5 days
this kinda scares me off from trying again but I want to so I might.
got a all new phone and it still wont mount the Sd card like last time
ok so i helped some one root their rogers phone last night. are you trying to flash the radio, or have you followed all of the fastboot commands in the "rogers heres your real root" thread? the guy i was helping couldn't flash the radio but we got it with the fastboot commands
no I'm past loading recovery.img with fastboot and I'm trying to apply the update.zip
thats very odd. so you did all the fastboot commands and still can't get it to work?
is it any rom you try to flash?
well I was following the guide in one of the first posts
Its reaally pissing me off cuz it will not open it and it says no such file exist even tho i can pull it up on my laptop!
maybe you should redownload the file?
i tried
that already and it didnt work either. I unrooted my phone and ended up back at firmware 1.0 and im trying to get cupcake back but my phone wont read the file. it keeps giving me the error message in the recovery screen.
E:cant open/sdcard/update.zip

go intro astro and rename it update.zip or just update.
Your computer might of added an extra .zip

If you unrooted it did you reroot it so you can flash a rom?
Also I know you said you redownloaded it, but did you check the MD5sum.
If you've unrooted then like supreme mentioned, it would be wise to re-root and try flashing again. Also are you running Cyanogen & JF's recovery image? Would make updating much easier if so.
Guide on rooting, installing the recovery update etc - http://iluvandroid.com/guides/how-to-root-your-htc-g1-dream-phone/
So I followed a guide on youtube for rooting the g1 (should have followed ones on these forums ).
1. I am from the UK so downgraded to the DREAMIMG-RC7.zip first.
2. Then I installed the hardspl (update) and recovery.img.
3. Then did the telnet commands
4. Then downloaded command emulator and entered the commands
5. Finally I updated with the update.zip.
this is where it went wrong
6. I then tried to install open eclare but got this error :
E:Can't chown/mod /sytem/xbin/su
(no such file or directory) E:Failure at line 240: set_perm 0 0 04755 SYSTEM:xbin/su
Installation aborted
7. I rebooted it by back and home but it now gets stuck at the tombile g1 logo part.
I can press home and power to get to the screen, and camera and power does work.
Question...can I just start again by connecting the sd card to my computer card reader and then putting back the DREAMIMG-RC7 and starting again?
Which recovery image are you using?
You might want to try a different rom before openeclair, it needs the death spl, which you don't want to touch just yet. I recommend superD or htcclay fasttest.
Upgrade your radio as well if you haven't already. If you go near the deathspl with the original radio, you'll find out why it's called death.
You got the error because that rom requires the 1.33.2005 spl. Link for radio and SPL are in my sig.
Hi,
Recently decided to upgrade to the 2.2 to see what its all about.
I have got my Nexus to the 27 build needed, but when I go to apply sdcard:update.zip I get the error:
"E:Can't open/cache/recovery/command"
And it aborts. Then I have to reboot and it goes back to 2.1. I definatly have the file as "update.zip" (i dont hide extensions)
Cheers,
Gradu
when you change the zip file name just type update and not update.zip, i had the same problem.
Thanks for the input, but no cigar.
I have noticed however, when I plug my nexus to the PC, its registered as F drive.... but my phone fault says that E: cant open /cache/recovery/command just as I get into the recovery mode as well.
There is no need to unroot. Get the pre root zip and flash like normal. 2.2 has new radio so will flash that first then the next reboot will be 2.2
Hello I just tried to flash my HTC One M7 with it (latest ROM) from this thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...w-m7spr-aicp-13-1-o-8-1-t3756651/post77967701)
DId factory reset and installed Super SU.
Now my device won't boot anymore. after trying to install this image
What can I do?
I got this msg:
Installing sdcard aicp_m7_o-13.1-UNOFFICIAL-20180930 (1).zip

Some of the sentences are cut off and I can't read any further it goes outside of my screen.
Anyway anyone have an idea what is up?
Even recovery mode doesnt want to see to boot wtf?? The bottom icons on my phon keep flashing but nothing happens. When I release buttons phone goes black..
Fixed it Somehow I got recovery to boot. and Needed to update TWRP was using a very old version
Now I installed this rom I talked about. and rebooted.
Works fine. Then rebooted. and then flashed pico opengoogleapps Said succesful.
Then I get
"Process system not responding" and
"Google play services keep stopping"
I can't seem to open Play store it will keep saying "checking info while "google play services keeps stopping..."
Btw I choose
8.1 ARM Pico google install. Is this right?
