Is there a way to backup all things except the installed Rom and Kernel, and maybe the launcher?
So smsses, applications and it's settings, keyboards etc.
Purpose: being able to install clean CM and applying a kernel and after that restoring all my applications, smss's etc...
Thanks for taking the time to explain this!
J
Why don't you just reflash new ROM without wipe? All you data you want stays and you have new rom.
I want to make sure nothing old remains. Why do they advise to do a wipe anyway?
wrong section but titanium backup should do the trick

To ensure that no remnants of the previous Rom/kernel remain. If you notice weird behavior wipe is advisable
With other words it is unclear. That is why I want to do that.
Now I have Tit. backup on my device, however never really used it. (I bet 90% of the people don't). So my question remains. A little guide to be fool proof to do this.

It's very easy. If you are using Titanium (the paid version) go into the app and press the backup all apps + data option. This will copy everything. Once you wipe and reinstall a ROM go back into Titanium and press restore all apps +data. Pretty much simple as that
Thanks man!!! That indeed is not to difficult!

[Q] need help removing a "tweak"

my nephew had my hero for about 2 months and started putting aosp and cyanogenmod roms on it, which i don't have an issue with, but he installed a "tweak" made by a now infamous "user". (i don't think i need to say a name, everyone knows who i'm talking about). i have been searching to see if there is an uninstall method, but since the dude's account is closed, i cant find a way to get rid of the tweak. do i have to RUU and re-root in order to get rid of it, or is there a way to do it so i don't have to go thru resetting the phone up? any help would be greatly appreciated.
...xfrobex
from the aosp GB wiki.....
you need to wipe/format your phone, in clockwork recovery: Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition. Under Partitions menu (or Mounts & Storage in 3.0.0.5) in recovery: Format boot, system, data, cache. Under advanced: wipe Dalvik Cache.
Then re-flash your rom/gapps. I suggest using titanium backup and backing up your apps, also.
I believe that is the only way to remove the tweaks .
Yup wiping and reflashing will take care if it as chin has said

Thank you ch1naski, i appreciate it. I'm glad it is going to be that easy, i was about to back-hand my nephew if i couldn't remove it.
Lmfao. I bet your nephew is really thankful.

Yeah, he is. But I did tell him he will get the smackdown if he doesn't nand before flashing anything else. Hopefully that will get him into the habit of nandroid-ing whenever he tries anything new
u dont really need to wipe anyhting if your on cyanogen or aosp just reinstall the rom itself and thatll return the build prop back to normal.

This may very well be true.... I personally find it more comforting to go fresh when there may be hidden tweakisms lurking about...clear the pipes, so to speak.

[Q] HELP!! All app's are force closing

This may be a noobie question, but I am stuck, and don't know what I did wrong.
Here's what happened...
I am running on Firefly 3.0. I had the Dark Fire theme installed. I downloaded a new theme from the Ff mods app. After I installed it, everything was reset on my phone; layout, settings, contacts, etc.
To make things worse, all apps I try to run "Force close" on me, so I can't even run Titanium Backup to try and fix this.
Should I just try to re-flash FireFly, or is there an easier fix?
If there is already a post on this topic that I didn't see, please let me know, and i will look at it.
Again, this might be a noobie question, but i am out of ideas myself.
Thanks
recovery > advance > fix permissions see if that help, or your probably going to need go back to stock and redo everything form clean slate.
p.s. You dont have to go putting noobie question all over the place.

[Q] Freeze and crash problem!!! Always!!

Whether rom&kernel i've tried (darky, tweaky, hawkish, extraordinary roms, semaphore, darky, cf root kernels) my phone always freezes anytime, anywhere. When i open a game sometimes it freezes in the loading screen, sometimes doesn't freeze. Sometimes when writing sms, sometimes killing tasks, everytime and everytime! I'm tired of this problem and it started to make me so angry! Please help if you have any suggestion.
There are two other posts in this sections that sounds like the exact same problem. Have you read them? Should be within the first 2 pages...
Edit: Ok just re-read, its similar, but still see if there are any solutions there that you haven't tried
Also are you restoring backups? If you don't restore them, does it still happen? Have you tried stock? Have you repartitioned? Have you cleared cache, dalvik cache. Factory reset after rom update? Turned lagfix off when flashing? Used odin to flash....
Need answers to these questions to help further... Always give as much detail as possible to enable us to help you in the most efficient way.

Well then from those answers i think its obvious what im going to suggest
Try an odin install Darkyrom 10.2RE people say always works.. and is reliable. Ive used it myself. And I suggest repartition. This is because it gives you the freshest install like it is brand new. If it happens then as well, then you need to flash stock, again with repartition via odin, for the same reason and because you need to identify the problem. If you have problem with stock then it is most likely a hardware issue.
In terms of backup, do not do batch backups as this sometimes causes conflicts, instead select each app you want and pick backup, then restore only data. Market apps you have downloaded can be logged using "app list" from the market. Use this to pick which apps you want to restore and it will take you straight to them, obviously after you download that app from the market again.
Also backup you internal sd card on you computer (drag and drop) and then restore only what is needed. Titanium backup should be kept on exsd in my opinion, and you can move the default folder there via settings.
Darky10.2RE You only need to do the odin install the second install is if you want all the apps, but again this can be configured using the darkyrom app, if you miss anything go to the last tab in the app after flashing and it will be there for you to pick out.
Things that can are unlikely to be an issue- is your imei the same? Do you have the correct csc code?

So much thanks for your answers and suggestions, but i don't want to use darkyrom i want to use s2 ported roms what should i do
Find them, under android development, its one of the pinned threads...2.3.4 roms or something. This is to identify the issue but as you wish, if you still have problems then maybe try darky then, or go to stock..

[Q] Install Android only

Hello All;
I have decided to try and male my HP touch pad an Android only touch pad.
I need help though as i am a novice at best.
I am looking for help on the files i will need. Want to install CM 10 recent and CWM.
Do i need a boot loader or will that be in the ROM?
And what other files will i need?
i am assuming i need a ROM, Recovery, and GAPPS. Other than that i am not sure.
Found someone on the WebOS Nation who is willing to help so i dont want to go into this like and idiot, i want to have my ducks in a row.
Any help will be appreciated
thanks
This is a good guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147284. As for Android-only, I don't recommend it. WebOS has gotten me out of Android trouble before.

Good point, Hey let me ask you something.
I like flashing ROMs but I always end up with a mess. Moboot, i dont think updates as grub2 does. So, i have thought the best way to switch ROMs would be treating the ROM as a first install, does that make sense and do you agree?
Or do you know a method to change ROMs that works well for you?

Android doesn't update the way Linux does, it only updates apps; the bootloader isn't going to update neatly from a package manager. At the same time, updating the TP's bootloader (moboot) is usually unnecessary. On the other hand I usually like to keep my recovery (TWRP/CWM) up to date. When I switch ROMs I just wipe and flash from recovery. Never had a problem.

What rules are you following? Full wipe? Leaving extra stuff in moboot is normal. You can delete the extras if they really bother you.

You should wipe system as well and if the extra uimage is still there you can delete it using a file manager after booting

As far as I know, most ROM install scripts automatically wipe system for you. Can't hurt to try, though.
Thankfully I have this zip again thanks to sstar posting it the other day. This zip will wipe your ulmage clean. Just flash it as you would a rom, than flash rom and gapps after.
