GameBoid v1.0 (GBA Emulator) - G1 Apps and Games

I think this is the best emulator yet on G1.
the graphic looks perfect on g1 screen, much better than SNES or NES games
. http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.androidemu.gba
THe resolution are a bit lower, but the colors and texture are kinda better in everyway.
and it is widescreen at deflaut setting

I have all four emulators and they all play different games worth having. That being said, by their nature, the GBA games are less detailed than their SNES counterparts. Look at the Street Fighter, Mario games, Ghouls and Ghosts, and the Kirby games as a few examples. They look better on the SNES emu than the GBA- due to the platform the games were designed for (more resolution).
Plus there are hundreds of games that are not on the GBA. A few great examples: Mario Allstars, Space megaforce, Sidepocket, Tetris Gaiden, Smash TV, NBA Jam, etc.
If you are a gamer, you want to keep the best of both systems
SNES also seems to play smoother than GBA emu- especially fighting games.

Yea, i am going to keep some SNES game.
GBA really suprized me, mainly because i have never play any gba b4.
and to tell you the truth their game are really great for Cellphone.
just tried SFapl2 GBA on g1 it looks just as good as this screenie
G1 Keyboard FTW

How are the controls? I have found that the controls on some emulators are very frustrating.
Also, this may be a noob question, but where can you get the games for the emulators?

Search "gba roms" on google

you don't get as much pause on control than snesdroid .
the graphic is really great for G1

Does anyone got this for free?

If someone could please get me this app, I could trade them Hello IM :]
I really really need this app and i got no money

I don't agree with more detailed games on Snes.
AFter playing GBA game on g1 for liek 4 hours ( 100+ roms).
I got to say the overall experience is much better than SNES game on g1.
you know the G1 screen really make GBA games looks nice, if we compare the screen of g1 to GBA sp screen. yOu will found out that the GBA sp 's screen look kinda dumb.
but most important thing about the GBA games is that they even have games that were made in 2007, 2008.
those newer game are really what make it better to be honest.
OF course if you can plug GBA games on a 20 inch tv, then Snes will look better. Because the resolution on gba game are so low
but on g1 3.8 inch screen, gba games really have better texture , details, colors, and lighting.
to be honest GBA games are perfect for g1

Really? You don't have $4

The emulator runs waaay too slow to be worth the $4. I have played the entire GBA Need For Speed series on my Dell Axim X30 OC'd to 520Mhz with just fine fps, but with this emulator on the [email protected] it;s more like a comics, than a game with fps.

SLOW???
Slow? Come again? I played several games, like Mortal Combat deadly alliance for example, and it was freakin fast - at least 20-25 fps and no noticable frameskip. The sound is very smooth and It's hands down the best emulator for GBA I've used on a mobile device .

Obviously it depends on the game. Need For Speed: Carbon is unplayable. 3-4fps, at best. Metal Slug 2, on the other side is smooth.
When scaled to full screen it is even more slow.

is it because of Hero rom??

I have JF 1.51 adp for reference, clock to 528mhz and use Task Manger to kill idle and background apps.
Almost all GBA games I tried (about 80) play smooth with sound. The games that do not appear to play as smooth as the SNES app are some of the fighting games- but they are still more than playable. Ironic point here: Android Arcade actually plays some of the REAL arcade games smoother than Gamoid or Snesoid... wild.
I have a Dell Axim too (battery hog, but great for quick Excel file review) and that device can not touch the emulators that are on the G1 already.
In fact, even the great Smartgear on WM is not as good as the current emulators on Android. Need GBA and Turbografx now (Smartgear does those well).
I own 120 GBA games and appreciate Gameoid. More than worth $4.

Nervermind I got it, I just don't know where to put the bios file.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age seems to really lag on this emulator. And it restarts as soon as the game begins (after the intro). Waiting for one to come out using the Android NDK.

Quality / addicted games

Hi Peepz!
im a fan of good games, that can waste some time to play.
i just wonder where those game can download for free
those quality one's
like SpaceWars etc..
thanks! and sorry for this nab post =D
Retro Defense, the only game I will play on the G1. It's a little laggy, in comparison to running it on an overclocked droid, or N1, but I've gotten used to it.
I also use NESoid, GENSoid, and other emulators. Besides that I haven't found any other games worth while.
I really like Cestos.
Raging thunder
Raging thunder 2(lil laggy)
asphalt
Zenonia(See here)RPG game, played on my Ipod-touch
Emulators(very fun)
Speedx 3D
light racer 3d

Respectfully, there are a lot good/great games (counting the emus). Android has a lot of fun stuff (but mainly the great emulators).
These games and apps are worthy on my G1 and its app small memory. There are about ten other worthy games, but I am out of space
Thunder 2
Jewellust
3 Point Shootout
Air Attack
Basket Ball
Bit Blocks
Armored Strike
Friction Mobile
Jewels
Papijump
Shoot U!
Sky Force
Solitaire
Salvo
Gensoid
Nesoid
Snesoid
Gboids
Android Arcade
PCE16
UAE4Droid
Segoid
GBCoid
Frodo 64
Jarcade
LightRacer3D!!!
Hope I don't repeat any of the great games already mentioned, here's a couple more:
Droid Mini Golf (Best mini golf game available. Swipe with your finger on screen to shoot ball. Direction and swiping speed determin ball direction and speed. There's even global tournaments where you have to play a certain course on a certain day for world rankings)
Build-a-Lot (I'm surprised at how much I like this sim game)
AirHockey (by jjcgames)
Pobs (I know this game from PC as "Hexagon", it's awesome)
Maejong (better than other free Mahjongg solitaire games, worth the $.99)
Towers (xi-art, beautiful Towers solitaire game)
WordUp! (word seeker)
Mancala (I had never heard of this board game, but it's easy to learn and fun to play)
What the Doodle!? (online pictionary, like iSketch, and with much less cheating than in Sketch Online also for Android)
Backgammon Lite (beautiful)
Toss It (throw crumpled paper balls into a basket with a fan blowing at varying speeds)
AndroMaze (for the programmers among us. "Program" the little android to reach the end of the maze in as little moves as possible)

Surprised by great gaming performance

I didn't think the nook color would play higher end games, but so far I'm really impressed. I have the following running quite well so far:
Raging Thunder 2
Asphalt 5
N.O.V.A.
Dungeon Hunter
Dungeon Defenders
Krazy Kart Racing
Pool Break Pro
Oh, and the graphically intense Angry Birds and Angry Birds seasons...
It also runs the Snesoid/Gensoid/Nesoid emulators perfectly. I wasn't expecting that just looking at the clockspeed (800mhz)
I'm not surprised because I know that the NC contains the same PowerVR GPU that the Mid-Range Droid X / Droid 2 devices do. I've run "Dungeon Defenders" (first game powered by Unreal Engine and more graphically intense than Angry Birds) and it runs fairly smooth. The high end devices like those of the Galaxy S family have even more powerful PowerVR GPU and run it better of course. The PowerVR GPU model in Apple's products is between the NC and the SGS family if anyone is interested.

The latest generation of Apple products actually use virtually the same processor as the Hummingbird found in the Samsung products. They use the same PowerVR SGX540 GPU.
But Apple seems to set mystery clocks on their A4 chips that appear to vary depending on the device. So the iPad's CPU/GPU appear to be clocked higher than the iPhone's. The iPhone may or may not dynamically clock up though based on what I've read.
An iPad should have identical performance to a Galaxy Tab though as far as raw hardware power goes. Any differences are likely purely in software.

Not quite true, the A4 iOS line is still using a SGX535 (same as the 3GS). Capable GPU, bit better than the 530 on the Nook Color (and Moto Droid line) but not up to par with the 540 on the Galaxy Hummingbird in terms of specs (it's about half as fast as the 540).
But, unlike the 540, the 535 is actually being used for UI acceleration on the iOS devices, giving them that trademark smoothness in everyday use, making iOS devices feel much faster than Android.

From what I could find it's only slightly better than the 530 and merely amounts to a slight clock freq increase... the 540 was PowerVR's big perf change.
Anyways, I'm not surprised that these games run OK given that this is likely the level of hw that they were targeted at. Next year might bring some problems as more games will be targeted at Tegra 2.
game performance of NC is great, but I hate the poor video playback capabilities, I admire Samsung galaxy can play 720p mkv files without any problem because most of my movies are 720p mkv files.

...going to give B&N one more shot at not trying to sell sh!t quality for $250...

Either get market going, or find them elsewhere online... IIRC they're paid apps, but there might be some free ones for Genesis, SNES, & gb...
(Got a replacement NC. Idiot guy in the store was trying to tell no, thats as far as it goes, it's OK... so I asked got power? Yep. Plug it in. See no nice shiny LED lighting up on the cable... tries their store charger same deal as my cable, tries the demo unit and in it goes...
I tried the new one's cable BEFORE I left the store this time, but when I got home and started it charging I find that I have one with the SUPER sensitive touch screen...)
I haven't been too happy with gaming performance on this. Mostly because many of my games look like this...

Wonder if the Spare Parts trick we used for the Galaxy Tab will work on the NC.
I'm not rooted* and don't plan to be or I'd test it.
But basically, you install Spare Parts from the Market, fire it up, check Compatibility mode if it is unchecked, or uncheck it if it checked, reboot the device, then un-check or check Compatibility mode one more time, reboot again, and it will start stretching apps to full screen.
*Not rooting because I already have the far more capable, faster, lighter/smaller Galaxy Tab for full-on tablet duties. The dirt cheap Nook Color is probably going to be my dedicated bathroom device (replacing my Kindle WiFi) for throne and tub reading. I won't miss the eInk at all indoors, so the Kindle will now be just for camping trips thanks to its incredible battery life and outdoor-friendly display.

LOL! That's probably because it's a Micro-USB rather than Mini-USB. They're similar connectors but are certainly different enough that you won't succeed in inserting one into the other. I certainly wouldn't fault B&N or the NC for that.

It was never advertised as such or intended to be. It's common knowledge (especially here) that the NC only sports a PowerVR 530 (unlike the 535 in the iPad). The Tegra 2 is even faster than the 540. Of course the NC wouldn't be anywhere near as fast. LOL! Perhaps, you should return just return the NC and purchase an actual tablet like the ViewSonic G-Tablet with it's awful screen for much more $$$ instead of an E-Reader if you have such high expectations.

God, I couldn't believe how bad the G-Tablet screen was. Bought one from Office Depot when visiting my family for Christmas, because my Dad fell in love with my Galaxy Tab, and I thought it would make a nice gift for him. The display unit was locked down to the kiosk tight, so I was always looking at it from above in landscape mode.
Lucky for me, I decided to play with it and get it set up for him before wrapping it. Made me sick how bad it was off-angle, not to mention the blizzard of force closes on the very first boot up. Took it back and got him an Acer 10" netbook instead, which he does love.
I'm positive B&N is losing money on the NC, based on what they had to have spent on the display alone. Somebody there bought a clue or two when they opted for high-end parts and farmed out the industrial design to a real design firm. I imagine they've sold thousands upon thousands of these things just on the look and feel, functionality be damned. I know that's why I impulse bought one even though I already own and love a Galaxy Tab.
What is the fix? I am wanting to get magic gem to play full screen. I downloaded spare parts from the market but didn't see any option that would help.

[GAME] N.O.V.A. 3 - How does it run in your OB?

This thread is aimed to check how the new N.O.V.A. 3 game runs in our phones.
Everyone can tell his experience while playing this game, if you have lags, u dislike the controls... whatever you want to say about it.
For me, the game has pretty much lag, almost unplayable. Even with 1100 OC and chainfire3D options enabled.
Also, the game becomes unstable if I set the OC to 1200.
As I saw around the web, there are two versions of the game, with high graphics and low graphics, one has light and dust effects and the other one does not.

Yepz, MC3 runs quite well in our OB's, with some nice graphics.
Hope that the low quality version of nova runs well in our phones.
I managed to run nova 3 with real high fps in optimus black.
The point is that the game auto selects high or low graphics depending on the phones processor.
Since the game identifies our powervr processor as a low-end, it automatically chooses low graphics.
However, if you have chainfire3D installed with the plugins, the game will select high graphics even if you dont chose any plugin to launch NOVA 3.
So well, I just unistalled chainfire3D drivers (not the app) and now the game runs smooth. However this means that game isnt showing its full features, but at least its playable (and I dont really need xbox 360 graphics in a 4' screen, so...)
any link for the low version quality?
The version of the game for low-end devices runs really smooth, there's no performance issues whatsoever. The controls are really good and responsive. Obviously the game doesn't look that good, sometimes it doesn't look good at all, it looks almost like the first NOVA, with the exception of better animation and some additional details, but gameloft deserves kudos for making a version for cheaper devices.
The game goes well on firmware Fiesta- 4 and Zeus-6.1
it works pretty well for me on the original one...pm me for the link if u wan...and although i am not playing this anymore, i think i did use Chainfire3D for graphics reduction...

Chainfire3D is for graphics enhancement, if its installed, it will detect your phone as a high end, running high res textures and stuff.
U meant u played it with HIGH res and chainfire3D tweaks? I also tried that, unroll and reduce texture options inside chainfire3D, and nova was still unplayable.
I finally had to uninstall chainfire3D drivers in order to get low-end version of nova.

Well I know that for the most part n64 emulators arent really any good because of the roms, but I use n64oid. look for it online not the marketplace.

FPse for PS1
Snesdroid, N64oid, and FPse.
My favorite is Neodroid though. The neo Geo games look great. I have the latest Metal Slug Games and all the fighting games. The roms don't take up much room either. Unlike PlayStation roms. Try downloading a few PlayStation roms into your nexus and watch your storage space disappear. No matter the size version you got. I keep a few classics, like Einhander, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Final Doom. I also use to have Strider and X-Men vs. Streetfighter and Bloody roar 2 or 3. Got rid of them to make room on prime. FPse is best PlayStation emulator. Allows you to use the open gl plugin which will dramatically increase the graphics quality of a ton of games. Like Einhander for example. It looks decent by itself but kinda pixelated on certain things. Add and enable the plugin and it looks better than even the original PlayStation version. Everything very crisp n sharp.

Keep the responses coming, OP to be sorted tomorrow.
Found a little lag in asphalt 7 but RR3 has been great so far.
Will need to retest Asphalt 7 now I have removed all the bloat!!
A few tips....
Root and install root uninstaller, get rid of all LG crap you dont use.
I also removed alot of google stuff I dont use like talk and google+ and turn google now off
Phone seems alot more responsive already.

4x hd games
i find both real racing 3 and ravensword 2 to be great time wasters!
real racing 3 runs great for me (even using the graphics settings app, on highest setting).
ravensword 2 runs great 99% of the time, but i get a small lag when there are plenty of enemies on screen at once (if anyone has this game, try repeatedly pressing jump while walking forward, into sloped sections of boundary walls; mainly outside. i have had fun getting to places i should not by doing this, a bit like climbing super steep mountains on oblivion or skyrim).
hope people comment on some more decent looking 3d paid games. then i'll know if they work well enough on my phone to warrant buying.
cheers!
(my phone; 4x hd; JB, rooted and unlocked bootloader)
Asphalt 7 smooth with no lag
Real Racing 3 smooth on low quality settings with no lag
NFSMW laggy but playable
Real Boxing smooth with no lag
Virtua Tennis smooth with no lag
Those are the heavy games I play.

How did you get RR3 to run great on highest settings? Is it really smooth?
Shadowlands Laggy for me, i really cant enjoy my Tegra
Sent from my LG-P880 using Tapatalk 2
Using v10a original firmware I can play most games without lag, ever since LG have increased thermal protection with each release, ruining gaming experience. Using this with gamebooster 2 on hard gaming, I have played most games above and more without lag, only ones that do are as follows:
Amazing spiderman: Generally low framerate
Need for speed most wanted: not great framerate either but more than playable
Block story: lags more as the game goes on
Dead trigger: Minor hiccups that disappear once a level has loaded properly
Real racing 3: Again playable, if use graphics app on medium is really smooth
And thats it! Everything else runs great:
MC4
MC3
NOVA 3
Asphalt 7
Shadowgun THD
Shadowgun deadzone
The conduit HD
Wild blood
Ravensword 2
Trial x 2
Trial x 3
GTA VC
Flashout 3D
Repulze
Dragon slayer
Blood & Glory
Death dome
Contract killer 2
CK2 zombies
Eternity warriors 2
Survivalcraft
The dark knight rises
Aralon
Mass effect
Rage of the gladiator

i didnt want to look like an idiot, so as i have not played RR3 since recent update, i have just had a go on a busy track to make sure its still running good. it is. i dont notice any lagging (in any camera mode or with the rear view/side mirrors)
after updating to JB my phone was just generally slow as hell (the flicking powersaver on and off technique worked, but had to keep doing it every so often), so i though what the heck, and did a factory reset (as many people had suggested in the 4x JB thread). after the reset i just went about scrapping all the bloatware and anything else i dont use; google+, etc... before doing a fresh install my apps/games. and the phone on the whole is generally very fast and smooth (apart from if i enable the screen flip function on JB for the home screen itself = slight lag. but who needs the home screen flipping to landscape anyway).
i use the 'RR3 graphics' app and put it on extra high, and also use the 'CPU master - free' when gaming to keep the CPU from dropping from maximum (although i'm not 100% sure it makes much difference when not using). and the game doesn't seem to have any bouts of unresponsiveness/lag + as far as im concerned runs smooth.
i just tested and got an 'antutu benchmark' score of; 13114 (which places it just above a nexus7 and below a nexus10), this is quite low, compared to a htc oneX or galaxy S3 (both over 15000), but shows that the phone is more than capable for games like RR3.
if your having trouble with lag on your 4X, although i have not felt the need to mess with anything myself, this thread look promising for improving gaming performance; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217990 (all due thanks to the threads creator, and i hope linking like this in within forum rules).
i hear that NFSMW is a good test of a phones gaming ability, maybe ill get it soon and see how it runs for me.
good luck and sorry if i was not much help.

How the hell did you manage to install all these games on internal SD?
Can we swap internal and external cards?
dark meadow
i forgot to mention dark meadow.
i think this game looks lovely and runs great for me (although its 'on rails'; id liken to 'horn', movement system i think slows the games pace a little).
i know this game does not officially 'work' on our phone, but using the app 'device spoofer' form the store you can download properly without any problems (well worth a quid for an app that will let you try out free and paid games that we normally cannot get from the store due to developers choosing not to support our device, but work fine with the phones specs.).
N.O.V.A. 3 -- laggy
Renaissance Blood THD -- laggy
Puddle THD -- little laggy but playable
Tested on V20a

Kind of. This app spoofs a folder on the external sd as a folder in the internal sd, so you can create a folder on external sd, transfer files and make the phone think the files are still in the original folder.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
With this and a 32gb sdcard anything is possible

sorry i should have said. i got the crash after the splash screen issue when i initially installed (after unreal logo, etc..). but searched the forum to find the work around.
what worked for me was by installing properly from the store (using 'device spoofer'), then uninstall the app. the uninstall left the sd files still on my device (Internal storage\Android\obb\com.phosphorgames.DarkMeadow....). and then installing the app again using the 'modded for any devices' apk (can find a download using google).
hope this helps.

sorry for any confusion. i should have been more specific. to be honest the main appeal of the game is the way it looks and atmospheric story telling. the gameplay itself gets a bit tedious, especially if you like action or open world.
