DoubleTwist sync to PC and Mac - G1 Apps and Games

Ok, not sure if this is the right place for this since this is not really an android App, but I'm sure we're all going to enjoy it. If you're not familiar with DoubleTwist, it allows you to sync and mobile device with a PC or Mac, just like iTunes does with the iPod. Music, pictures, videos (you can drag and drop video files form you computer and it converts them for you).
Short review with more details: http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=615&Itemid=1
DoubleTwist Website: http://doubletwist.com

For DoubleTwist to work properly on Android phones ensure USB debugging is turned off under Apps/Development (you can turn it back on after using DoubleTwist)... if you don't do this it doesn't know its an Android phone and won't know what to transcode video content for.

Gmote Video Streaming

I have been wanting to stream my movies folder on my pc without having to get everything to complicated. Here's how I did it without having to use a bunch of bs. Just browse select and play after some minor setting up.
#1. Install Gmote on your G-tablet
#2. Install the server software on your pc http://www.gmote.org/
#3. Set your share folder on your pc ( movies/music folder )
#4. Run Gmote on your G-tablet
#5. You may have to manually enter your IP if it doesn't find the server.
#6. Once you find the server set the share folder. (movies/music folder)
#7. Now you should see your directories/shared folders by hitting browse
#8. Not only can you use your G-tablet to control the media on your pc and use it as a big touchpad for your computer, hit the browse button, select a movie avi or divx in the shared folder. Make sure you look up top it asks if you want to play the media from the computer or phone. Select phone (experimental) and depending on what media player your using ( rockplayer, stream my media ect. ) it will play your video on your G-tablet. Using this with the docking station and your G-tablet rocks. Works perfectly for me. Nothing big, somebody might have done it before but here you go good stuff.
I also use ORB, Tversity and PlayON to stream all my media to my gtab.
with ORB i can do it anywhere in the world

Stream video from PC to Xoom

Hai!
I've been seeing alot of people wanting to stream video from thier Home PC or HTPC to thier Xoom. I've also seen some really hard ways to go about it, srsly.
Here's an easy way that does not require you to install anything on your PC.
1. Share out your video folder on your PC, allow full access to everyone.
2. On Xoom, connect to your WiFi then goto Market, search "bs player" and download and install it, and the ARM7 addon next to it.
3. Open BS player, in top right menu, select LAN Mode.
4. Add your host(IP) and share: 192.168.0.2/downloads (this may not work for, is only example), add your username and password for the PC (your Login). You may need to add // infront of your IP address in some cases, not sure why.
Done.
BS player also plays most files inc .avi. Streams 720p quite fluently.
Also there is a way to do this over the net, but your net would probably die and it takes longer to explain and i'm at work, and i'm lazy ^_^.
Ciao.
You could do the same thing from your file explorer and have any player play the files from your computer. I switch to LAN in Honeycomb HD File Explorer and put my home IP in and now I can watch any of the files on my Xoom.
I installed tversity server on the pc and shared the video folder
I installed bubbleUpnp on the xoom..
open bubbleUPNP, browse to the folder, click the video and watch it on MX Video Player (or others)
Works beautifully
There are a few ways to do it.
This appears to be one of the easiest ways, along with sharing and using it through HD Explorer, which i do more than the way i posted.
But having to install software on your PC just to stream videos, in my oopinion, is unacceptable.
My PC has way more than enough power to do it as it was built for gaming, but I'd prefer not to add software that i don't need to.
But everyone has their way of doing it, this was just for those who aren't overly computer savvy and wanted to know how.
Qloud Free does a really good job of streaming video as well. Adjustable bit rate before you start each video even allows you to take in to account how powerful the CPU on the PC you are streaming from might be.
I followed your instructions, but nothing will play. Every file on my WHS server that I click on just crashes with "Unexpected error occured". I tried MP4, AVI (Xvix and Divx), and WMV files. I can see all my files under the folder I shared, none of them will play though.
I use Splashtop. What it basically does is lets you control your PC from your Xoom. Not sure if thats what you need. On the same network its pretty smooth.
If you are just looking to play it directly on your Xoom without it playing on ur PC then there are several softwares/apps available that let you view your PC files on your tablet.
What I would do is enable web sharing on my PC and then access the URL from my tablet's browser.
don't forget gmote 2.0. Its been streaming brilliantly for me
There is also Zumocast. Originally it was only available for select motorola phones, but you can find it in XDA forums...

Grabbing Plex is also a good way, though it isn't free. If you have a wide array of video formats (I have a large mix of SD, 720p, and 1080p content), something that can transcode is pretty much the only option, and Plex is much cheaper than the paid version of TVersity.
The Plex Media Server app catalogs videos with metadata like XBMC does on the PC, but requires their paid app from the market to access it. It handles real-time transcoding for videos that would otherwise be unplayable on the Xoom (ie 1080p high profile).
I agree with splashtop. I though about streaming other ways but didnt want to leave my video folder open to the entire network. Splashtop works perfectly.
I also use splashtop to get the video onto my xoom and then plug it into the tv with hdmi rather than carrying my laptop around or using a media streamer.
I personally like Remote Potato on windows 7. There is an app in the market called Remote Media Center that works real nice.
You will need Windows Media Center for this to work. I like it because I can also stream Live TV and the Guide.

How can I transfer music/Video etc..To xbox 360?

So Im doing some research and not really coming up with anything but some old froums.. And Though maybe by now lol.. So title pretty much says it. Looking to transfer music to an Xbox 360 and I have tried to plug in and it goes to disk mode but nothing else I see others post some threads like this but it died off with no real answer but I did come across this user saying.. You can use ORB or ZUNE software on your PC but that was it lol so anyone have an idea how else I could do this. I know you can just us a usb flash and transfer it that way.. What about wireless..
O and Im using an Htc Inspire.. thanks
I too am looking for this
To do it using dlna, you need both the xbox360 and your phone on the same network.
You also need a computer running windows media center.
Set the xbox360 up as a media center extender.
Once the xbox360 is actually running in MCE mode, you should then be able to detect it on your phone:
For movies/pictures open the file you want using Gallery, tap menu then select player and you should see the MCE in the list
For music open Music and go to the song you want, again tap menu and select play, then the MCE.
You must have the MC computer turned on and the xbox in MCE mode for it to work. With W7, the xbox will log in in the background as the MCE service and start MC running, not sure about XP or Vista.
There's no reason why MS can't release a xbox update that allows dlna to work without needing MC running on a seperate computer, but it depends on how helpful they want to be.
WOw just to get music from your phone to your xbox that does seem like a bit much lol but thanks for that bit of info..
I don't know if the xbox web browser will be capable of working with this, but it should...

Thanks in advancd... :good:
Bump..! Anyone ?
In my opinion, the best way to access files of your PC is to share your folders on the PC and mount them on your phone through CIFS. This is the most natural way, just like you'd do it between PCs.
CifsManager makes this pretty easy. You just need to enter the path to your PC share, user name and password, and where you what the share to be mounted on your phone's file system. Then you can mount and unmount the share with a singe click, and access all the files from the PC just if they were local files.
Note: The phone needs to be rooted though. And there is a bug in android kernel 3.4.0, which makes it hard to get CIFS working. ("Invalid argument" error, even if you enter everything correctly). Let us know if you run into that problem.

Cast pictures from Windows PC via Android

I have several pictures on my PC that I'd like to cast to my TV as a slideshow and use my phone to control it. Is there a way to do this? I can do this for videos using a Chrome app called Videostream which plays local videos within Chrome and can be controlled (play, pause, FF, etc.) from the companion Android Videostream app. I'm wondering if there's something similar for pictures.
I simply use Google Photos as it is easier to make the connection (without having to go through network setup and sharing folders) and it also allows me to display those photos even when I'm not near the PC.
It does support CCast.

I'm assuming this requires the photos to be on the phone. I was hoping for a solution where the photos are on a PC.
No it only requires that they be added to Google Photos on your Desktop.
It basically uses the Google Cloud Storage.
