Alternative to Android Market? - myTouch 3G, Magic Apps and Games

Hey,
After reading the threads, I presume I'm not the only unlucky one to have a phone without Android Market, combined with the "dreaded" 1.33.0010 SPL, therefore unable to root.
So what's the best way to get new apps for my brand new HTC Sapphire? SlideMe and Leaf Open Market just don't cut it for me.
Alternatively, can I download the Android Market apps via the web?
Ciao,
CUGWMUI
PS: Someone, please root this phone!

you mean like these?
http://www.androidtapp.com
http://www.android.com/market
but i presume you're aware of a google search phenomena so i guess that is not what you were looking for

Not sure if slideme is locked to the mobile emai number or anything else but you can try to open your browser on the mobile and go to http://m.slideme.org/SAM/ and install there application store manager.

Thanks...
I guess the best thing is to acquire as much from as many sources as possible...
Can't wait for my Magic to get rooted..
Ciao,
CUG

Found a methode where i can get applications/games from the market into my non-google magic.
look at my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529170

You might want to have a look at this website...it lists all alternatives for appstores per platform: http://www.wipwiki.com/appstores

First, some background:
ROM Toolbox combines all the great root apps into one monster app with a beautiful and easy to use interface. ROM Toolbox has every tool you need to make your Android device fast and customized to your liking. ROM Toolbox has been featured on LifeHacker, XDA-Developers, Droid-Life, Android Central, RootzWiki, Android Police, DroidForums and other popular sites. ROM Toolbox has one of the highest ratings in the top 100 paid apps. Over 12,000 people gave it a full 5 star review! ★★★★★
ROM Toolbox combines apps like Titanium Backup, ROM Manager, Root Explorer, SetCPU, Ad Blocker, MetaMorph, Autorun Manager, Terminal Emulator, Script Manager, SD Booster, BuildProp Editor, Font Installer, Boot Animation Installer & many more apps into an all-in-one app!
The Revamped Rom Manager section now adds support for OTA updates!
Here’s where you come in:
We want your rom in our app. All roms will be *completely* free to download through our Rom Manager.
Why should you want to put your rom in our app?
Because your rom would be available to a much larger audience with more potential downloads and donations for you.
We want this to be as easy as possible for you.
To get your rom on ROM Toolbox, please do the following:
1) Fill out the file below with the roms/zips you want to have.
2) Save it in JSON (.js) format. I recommend using the free program called Notepad++ to modify and save json files.
3) Upload this file to your server. That way you can be in control of what ROMs show up at all times. Otherwise we can host it ourselves.
4) Send us the link to this file on your server.
5) Send us a summary of the ROM.
6) Send us the name of the ROM.
7) Send us the devices you support. (Device id not device name, Ex: mako not Nexus 4)
Code:
{
"version": "1",
"homepage": "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=...",
"donate": "https://www.paypal.com/...",
"roms": [
{
"name": "NoWizAOSPmod v.1.4.2 (7/22)",

"summary": "NoWizAOSP is a rom without wiz, and mimicking aosp...",
"device": "d2spr",
"url": "http://xeoduxus.com/downloadable/nowizaosp.zip"
}
]
}
Note: you can add as many zips/roms as you want.. just add another section right under the "rom" entry. If you need any assistance filling this out feel free to ask and we can help you!
If you'd like to use addons, optional, flashable downloads with your rom, please let me know and I'd be happy to explain how to do it.
Ideally we would love for you to maintain your own download link. If this is not possible, please contact us and we'll do our best to help out.
ROM Toolbox is going through a major overhaul currently and has been completely rewritten. We want you to be a part of this!
Thanks!

I love RTP, it's definitely my most used root app. Would be great to see more N4 roms on it. Maybe you should pm or tweet some devs to ensure they see this
I bought this a long time ago and have used or often. It is an awesome app.

Cant see why this is anywhere near Nex4 specific.
Whoever is having any issues with the app, please email us at [email protected], and we'd be happy to assist you.
This is Nex 4 Specific because this is an invitation specific to Nexus 4 developers.
This was first app purchased for my first android device . it works flawless.
I like the support the Dev provides .
I had a problem initially that I emailed to Dev and I got reply back within hours .
Love to see all the ROM in one place .

adobe flash install for N7

Hello Nexus 7 lovers,
As we all know Chrome comes pre-installed for Jellybean instead of the old stock ICS browser (which is a very welcomed addition) on the Nexus 7. Chrome Mobile does not support flash (and it never probably will). Also Adobe has stopped support for any Android version 4.1 and up (regardless of chipset). But lucky for us Tegra 3 has been supported by Adobe before Adobe decided to stop even hardware support.
I don't use flash anymore really, but a lot of people still do. If you want to install flash and have a browser that can use it, follow the instructions below.
As we all know you can side-load the flash APK even though you can't install it straight to from the market.
For the new people to Android who don't know how, here is how to install app if you have the .apk file:
Go to Settings.
Go to Security (under Personal)
Check Unknown Sources (under Device Administration)
Click OK
Now Install Flash 11.1, if you need the APK, you can grab it here:
(mediafire...4940h3ixaabr2gp)
Now install Firefox Beta from the Play Store (or download the APK below).
I'm sure there are other browsers that support flash, I'll be testing out quite a few and I can make a list here.
List of browsers that DO support flash on the Nexus 7:
Firefox Beta
Maxthon Browser
Fennec (Aurora Nightly)
Dolphin HD 8.5.x (8.6+ does not support)
List of browsers that DO NOT support flash on the Nexus 7:
Chrome (The default browser installed)
Opera Mobile

Nice write up, but this is common knowledge and has been repeatedly posted. In addition why is it people post a file share sit instead of the adobe archive is beyond me. Also, please follow the rules, especially the one that says to use the search function before posting.

Considering he's also advertising warez in other threads, perhaps the APK he attempted to link to is "modified". Who knows. I wouldn't use it, that's for sure.
Yeah... I wouldn't trust ANYTHING OP posts. I wouldn't trust any of his links, either.
The "missing" Android Stock Browser, fully supports Flash. I have been using it, without any issues, so far on my Nexus7 3G.

After several days of investigation I've found the solution.
A specific library and a binary was not included in the ROM (which is apparently needed by Google Play).
I read the log files, searched the missing files and compiled the corresponding source code using the BroadcomCM repository.
I included the missing files in the Google Apps package and added some lines to the updater-script, and voila a working Google Play App
Changelog:
Based on GoogleApps_GearCM_CM9_20140711
Based on Google Apps for AOSP
Added libdrmframework_jni.so to /system/lib
Added drmserver to /system/bin
Modified updater-script to set the permissions
Credits:
bieltv.3, Alberto96, Psyke83, Spacecaker, Lopicl.00 for BroadcomCM (which I used to compile the binaries and libraries)
Info:
For CyanogenMod 9.1 - BroadcomCM Beta 5
Preparation:
If you have already installed GoogleApps_GearCM_CM9_20140711 or my previous version then you should uninstall it.
I've written a detailed guide on how to uninstall the old version [GUIDE] How to fix and upgrade Google Play Services.
Instructions:
If you don't have a Google Apps Package installed, or if you have uninstalled the old package, then continue.
Download a Google Apps Package from the Download Section.
Install it with ClockWorkMod or similar.
Wipe your Cache (not necessary, but recommended).
Notes:
Add your Google Account first, and then open the Play Store App.
This Package is based on the Official Google Apps Package and therefore the Google Play Store App is outdated.
However, the Google Play Store App gets updated automatically in the background, if you have launched the Play Store App at least once.
You will automatically get the latest Play Store App. It just takes some time, so be patient.
Downloads:
All Packages are based on Google Apps for AOSP
gapps-full-ics-broadcomCM-20120317-signed.zip - 52 MB - Complete Package incl. Broadcom Libraries/Binaries.
gapps-small-ics-broadcomCM-20120317-signed.zip - 15.4 MB - Minimal Package incl. Broadcom Libraries/Binaries. (Recommended)
You should post it in General Section
Report it to FM and move it .

I thought a custom google apps package with (non-standard) system libraries is part of the development section
There are also other GAPPS Packages in the development section.
For example this one [GAPPS][CM&Cyanmobile]MVIP-GAPPS-23/3/2014.
Therefore I thought this is the right section for custom google apps. I apologize, if my thoughts are wrong.
If this section is wrong, I would recommend the App/Theme Section, but there is no App Section for the Broadcom Devices :/
However, in my opinion, the General Section is inappropriate for this package, because it is only a discussion forum.
If the development section is totally wrong, then I would prefer the App Section. Correct me if I'm wrong
Best regards

This package is based on Google Apps for ICS, therefore I think, it will not work for CM7.
Links to Gapps no longer work (although they worked last month)
Does anyone still have them? Any minis or full ones?

How can I (re)make an old obsolete app to work on the latest Android version?

Greetings to all. I am new to this forum and I have a question for you experts.
There is a very old and abandoned app that I used to like a lot. It is very simple (the size was just 99KB). It is simply creating a floating icon above other apps that initiates screenshots.
When I tried to install and use it on my OnePlus 5, I got the message that this application needs to be updated.
The thing is that there is no update available for this app because the developer for his own reasons abandoned the project.
Could this be because of the modified Android version my device is running? Or is it because the app is no longer compatible for the latest Android versions in general? (My old device was under 4.4 KitKat)
Is there a way to resolve this manually perhaps by decompiling , editing and recompiling the apk?
Is there a way to recreate the same apk to be compatible with the latest bunch of Android versions?
Is there perhaps a way to avoid all the hassle and "trick" the app thinking that everything is O.K.?
Since I am a complete and utter n00b, please explain to me.
I wish to thank you all in advance for your time and effort to answer to me.
The apps' source code needs to be updated.
Do you have a link to the apps' source code?
Would also help to know what app you're talking about.

I have the apk file if that helps. I tried to private message you but I was not able.
How can I provide the source to you?
The link to the actual apk file is here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1zImcIf1lret_9XsCRawrj4FLPtbMGe7j
The app is creating a floating button/icon that allows to take screenshots of a specific (designated by the app and fixed) area of your screen. You can take multiple screenshots and evry single screenshot appears in tiny thumbnails on your screen, each one next to the other. All screenshots are getting erased automatically after a few seconds (don't recall how many, maybe 30 secs).
Yeah I have private messaging disabled. I prefer to do any communication on the forums.
As I mentioned, the source code needs to be updated. So if you post the source code I'd be willing to take a look.
No guarantees of course. Lots has changed in android over time. A lot of code has been deprecated. Don't know if it can be updated or if it's just better to start from scratch.

I did a little digging by decompiling the app so that I can look at the strings.xml to get the official app name. With the app name I did some research and concluded that the developer did not make it open source. This means its original java code is not public and therefore the app cannot be updated.
You'll have to find another app in the play store similar to this one for your use.

[NON-ROOT] JBNCK One UI Experience - Debloated, Private and clean One UI experience

JBNCK One UI ExperienceGet the JBNCK One UI Experience on your Samsung Phone without root. Works best on Galaxy A-Series phones running Android 11 or 12Features- Debloated and clean (pleasant for the eyes, fun to use and allows for 2-day battery life)*
- Privacy (RethinkDNS [DNS + Firewall] and Privacy indicators included)**
- Degoogled*** (removed the majority of Google apps, replaced Play Store client [AuroraStore], possibility to add Nextcloud accounts [Nextcloud app required] or other accounts for contacts and calendar syncing, included Chromium)
- Advanced tweaking (SystemUI Tuner included)Installation ****For best results, make sure your device is freshly set up. If it isn't, create a backup (on anything but Google (WhatsApp backup is fine) or Samsung since those sync adapters will be removed) and perform a factory reset. Otherwise it may break your setup and you might end up with a chaotic system which defeats the whole purpose of the project xD
To start the installation, download the newest release and unzip the file. On your phone, make sure you have USB debugging enabled. After enabling USB debugging connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable and execute the script (there are 3 files, choose the one that suits your operating system). If you're on Linux, make sure to allow execution of the adb binary and the debloat script. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, just open a terminal in the extracted folder and execute the following command:
Code:
chmod -R 777 *

This is completely normal so don't flip out when you see a settings toggle doing nothing. If you want to get a feature back, ask me.
* - battery life may/will depend on your phone model and installed apps
** - both need to be set up first. Also make sure to enable always on VPN for RethinkDNS
*** - critical system apps as well as Google Play Services cannot be removed without root. The script still installs GBoard (the lite version without stickers and unnecessary online content) and Google Messages (for a better RCS integration)
**** - adb will be blocked by MacOS by default. You can unblock it in the security tab in the settings app
Script tested on Galaxy A51 5G (SM-A516B), Galaxy A50 (SM-A505FN) and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (SM-P610).
Works best on A-Series devices running Android 11 and 12 It is recommended to disable battery optimization for SystemUI tuner, Account Manager (syncing client for Nextcloud [Nextcloud app required] and other online accounts)) and Aurora Store. Also make sure to enable always on VPN for RethinkDNS.

Hello I just wanted to say that I love your one ui experience project and that I am the first person to ever star you're project on github.com and will probably be the first to contribute to your project on github.com.
You're script will also work from a Linux computer right?
I have just created a PR on github that fixed a flaw that was at the start of every single line of code in all 3 scripts I tested all 3 and they did literally nothing at all except show errors before this change to the scripts. Youre welcome. I look forward to contributing more to this amazing project in the future.

If you're on Linux like me, you have to change the permissions to 755 (open a terminal in this folder and simply type 'chmod -R 755 *'). This will allow the script and the adb binary to be executed. The message "errors are normal just ignore them" refers to errors like "Package not installed for 0" which are completely normal since not every phone has the same bloatware. Thank you for contributing though!

Hello janboygamer23 I see on your readme on github it says that the experience would be bad if not run on a fresh install. I don't think that's true because all your script does mostly is uninstall tons of packages and install 4 or 5

The uninstallation of these apps is the problem. If you already have everything set up removing all of the bloat can break and mess some things like apps linked to google play for example paid apps, thats why its always better to run debloat script directly after the initial setup. Its really just a recommendation/warning and you can do what you want with it, just be advised that things may break

But I would like to keep the Google Play Store (no AuroraStore). Could you make a version of it or say what does not have to be uninstalled (.bat) / installed (APK) in the script to have full Play Store access?
Many greetings
Frank

You can execute the following command to get the play store back:
adb shell pm install-existing com.android.vending
After that, you can simply uninstall AuroraStore and you should be good to go!
New version coming today!Since I still go to school I wasn't able to actively work on the script but now that the school year is almost over, I can publish a new version which works for Android 12.

Thank you for your "quick" reply.
But since nothing is happening in the A51-Scene with updated Custom-ROMs, I flashed the latest Stock-ROM (Android 12) and debloated it myself ;o)

Sorry for being inactive for a bit, the school year is almost over and I had a lot of exams but I'm done now
New release!!!Major update to the script (One UI 4(.1) is now officially supported)!- Less stuff is getting installed (Messages, Keyboard and Weather are not being replaced anymore)
- More bloatware is getting removed
- Ungoogled chromium for Android has been abandoned so I replaced it with normal chromium, should still be more private than Chrome
- Animation speed adjustments
- /e/-Accounts have been replaced with DAVx5 to allow more nextcloud servers to be synced (Nextcloud app required)
Go check it out here:

What I'm currently working on:Making different scripts for different use cases (e.g. heavy debloat or light debloat, Android 11 or Android 12 etc.)
