sd card you should have if you are going to try a hero rom?
2gb 10 char
I would just get an 8GB Class 6 Card. They go for like $20 on amazon, not that expensive considering that the 2GB flavor goes for $8 + S/H its like $14, so for an extra $6, you get a much faster card with all the space you will need.

So I am thinking about buying a Samsung micro SDHC 8 gig class 6 card and doing apps2sd and moving the dalvik and etc to the sd card. For those who have done this how much improvement have you seen?
Also should I go ahead and drop the 70 dollars for a Transcend 16 gig class 6, or would an 8 gig class 6 be plenty?
I don't really plan on keeping tons of crap on my phone so I think I will just go with the 8 for 20 bucks but is it even worth the money in terms of performance increase?
Also probably going to buy that 2 pack of spare batteries with charger from Hong Kong as its only 12 bucks but whatever.
Thanks.
i just got a 8 gig c6 card and im glad i did the speed boost is great

Find me a major manufacturers website that lists a class 6 32gb microSDHC for sale at any price and I might believe it. Until then, I won't.

Why would you think it's too good to be true? How much do you think a 32gb would go for?
I bought a 32 gb scandisk from ebay for 29.99 and it works on everything EXCEPT my evo don't waste your money trust me
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
i wouldn't bother. it's most probably a scam. i bought two of them in the past. they are usually 2gb cards that are rebadged to make them look like 32gb cards. if you tried to put anything larger than 2gb, you get the corrupt card message.
Only reputable company to make 32gb micro sdhc now is Sandisk and there card is rated at class 2. So I would seriously doubt anyone else would sell them for $15 dollar unless we are in the stage where cards are 1tb and not gb. Just use common sense and you don't be victim of scams as you only empower them by doing so.
PS: ATM I'm shopping for real 32gb c4 or 16gb c6 so let's see if anyone else is welling to produce 32gb cards.
Well looking at the feed backs, almost all the ones regarding the MicroSD card were something like:
PayPal unclaimed - requested repayment. Could not repay via eBay, so cancelled
So yah, I wouldn't bother
Also, the seller claims it's class 6 which screams fake/scam
My question is WTF is Kingston and PNY with there own 32gb cards. At least competition would lower the price. I heard people were picking up Sandisk 32gb c2 for $50 of Verizon by scheming them as they still sell for $100 which is much lower than anyone else ATM.
BuyDOTcom (noob users can't post links) has a 3C pro 32GB microSD card for like $120. It's a class 4.
Other than that, I haven't seen much competition at all in this area.
I'm content to wait until later this year for more people like RiData and so.
this fake
98.9% Positive feedback
i have a question:
how does he get so many positive feedback on ebay ?
(i believe too its fake though ..)
I bought one of these from eBay, not from the same person though. It was a 32Gb Class 4, I got it for about £20.
I works fine in laptop card reader. Put it in my HD2, tried copying a large amount of data, which failed, now I have an 8Mb sd card!!
It may not be the way to go.
Here's an equation that I have calculated to help you out.
MC + E = NO
Where MC = Memory card
E = Ebay
NO = No
And now there's a sale on a class4 16gb microSD card:
http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=216757949
$34 bucks is pretty good. Just ordered one myself!
26€ not bad
Class 10 16 BG are on sale here in the UK
:http://www.memorycow.co.uk/kingston...ory-card-sd-adapter-2322.php?products_id=2322
Never used that site but Amazon are also showing class 4 16 GB for £30

Well, many of the fake memory cards use host for storage, to fake the large capacity and fast access time.
So when you used it on your laptop, it actually stored all the data on your hard disk. Cool, you thought: it's all working.
Then you used it on HD2, which was impossible for the dodge hack, so it revealed its true nature.

Just installed the new card and swapped over my files. For smaller files, data transfer doesn't seem very different, but large movies definitely seem to transfer faster.
Has anyone been able to find any good deals on a Micro SD Card for our Nooks? I am looking for a 16 or 32 gb. With a high class number 6 would be fine.
I don't know about good deal, but I went with this Kingston 16GB one (Class 10). It looks like it is priced about 45% of list price if that helps.

I use these sites and have pretty good luck. Should be able to get a 16GB CL10 for under $50. Hope it helps.
Meritline Sometimes slow shipping.
Supermediastore
Buy.com Sometimes you need to dig through the menus to find good deals.
just wondering
do you really need a high class sd micro what are the benifits as far as speed for movies music ?
trying to make a choice speed or size i mean is the speed only for running apps from sd card as i will more than likely just use it for movies and music thanks
This is probably the best price you'll find for a Class 6 without waiting around for a sale:
A-DATA 16GB Class 6
I have this one and have been very pleased with transfer speeds. My dad has the one above, and the speed are pretty comparable. The Class 10 writes a little faster (can get Win7 to report above 10 MB/s) but A-DATA is a better known brand than Wintec. By which I mean, Wintec is way cheaper than competitors:
Wintec 16GB Class 10
You're not going to be able to get a fast 32GB microSD without shelling out close to 100 bucks.
At local Target for $17.99, Lexar 8GB Class 4. Perfect for books.
I got a 16GB Class 4, Patriot brand MicroSD card for $27 off NewEgg.com. No Tax or Shipping. Arrived in my mailbox 3 days later. Worked fine out of the box without issue and seems to transfer about 3-4 Mbps when writing data to it. Class 6 or higher should be unnecessary unless you're recording live video to it or simply impatient I'd think.
I went for Class 10 as I plan to put apps on it to save space on the internal storage. I did that a lot with my old Palm.
Sent from the XDA app on my NC (1.0.1 w/A-n 2.12.25)
I just bought any old 16gb. Class 2. It's good enough for what I use it for. Video plays back fine on it. And I don't really see the point of apps2sd on this. I mean you have almost 1gb of space for apps.
no you only get roughly 400 to 500 megs before you can't install anything else on it. I have the same problem with my dInc.
Why is that? Doesn't it have ~5GB of user space?

not for apps. Mine shows a little less than 1gb available for apps. I've installed a ton of (smallish) games and I'm down to only 150mb or so free.

If you use a different home screen than the standard B&N one I use the mini info widget. Is free and takes up a 2x1 spot. Tells battery life, space left, and SD space left.
The only advangage of getting a high speed sd I see would be if one wanted to run ubuntu or the dev froyo. Nice speed boost.
Sent from my NookColor
Weird. On my HTC Desire I have craploads of apps installed. I haven't gone under 600mb out of 1gb free.. Dunno how you can fill it up considering apps are so small.
FWIW, I now use a Wintec 16GB Class 10 in my MT4G and it has lived up to expectations. I tested it to write at better than 10 MB/s with CrystalDiskMark
The Nook inherited its SanDisk 8GB class 4... which is a solid card.
I'd buy the Wintec again in a heartbeat though... Its super affordable on Newegg.
BTW... USE DROPBOX!!!! if you don't have it... click my link and get an extra 250MB with your free 2GB account. Its soooo handy to have my extra files on the cloud. Especially my Titanium backups.
This will be coming soon if you want to wait. It's one of the first high class (6+) 32GB cards.
Lexar High Speed MicroSDHC 32 GB Class 10 Flash Memory Card with Reader
Thanks works great. I have about 650mb free. Plenty for me... also have an 8gb sd

Patriot SD cards are not a bad deal just don't expect to be able to use them with Honeycomb. The Honeycomb thread is only too full of other members like myself who found them to be really SLOW regardless of the rated class! Replaced it with a Sandisk and to my surprise, HC woke up from it's laggy slumber and was as snappy as the "preview" version could probably be. I'm using the Patriot card in another android device now and it's fine for far less demanding duties.
I was hunting for a good fast NC card and ended up with this 8GB card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208453
It has very good speed ratings for a reasonable price.
I couldn't find a good deal on a 16GB card that REALLY runs at class 6 or better reliably. That's why I ended up with the 8gb for now.
I did, however, get one of these 16GB Patriots for the wife's new Optimus V.
San Disk is the way to go. Using a class 4 and its pretty good for speed, reader on nook is class 6 so close enough.
Some benchmarks:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...na&AID=10521304&PID=4169959&SID=1c6j6nbtdtth7
(benchmarks via Crystaldiskmark)
Transcend 8GB class 6 that was so highly liked at newegg: Seq read/write: 19.09 / 18.15
The Patriot 16GB (that this thread is about) - seq read/write 17.6 / 4.5 !
Good performance for raw storage, prob not great for Roms.
32GB uSD Class 10 newegg.com $77.99

The reviews of this card are discourageing and the prices still need to go down substantially before 32Gb cards will become competitive with 16Gb cards. Right now you can buy 2 16Gb cards for much less from reputable makers. I just don't see spending so much money and run a constant risk that tbe card would go bad on you.
