Hi All,
I have been reading the posts on this forum for the last 5 days and just need some advice.
Just got the Mini S and woudl like to know what ROM to upgrade to, various posts mention the QTEK or the IMATE and to be honest I am a little confused.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I need to use the lokiwiz program to unlock the SIM and CID before I attempt the upgrade ?
Thanks
Dan
You would also need to remap the keyboard as the O2 version has a different keysheet. The O2 build with push will be available within the next week or so.

I'm in a similar boat to the OP. Been watching the forums for a couple of weeks and am finally in a position to upgrade the ROM - still not sure to go QTEC or iMate....and now Lord Buckingham throws O2 back in the mix!!
@ Lord Buckingham - can you qualify where you have heard the news about the O2 ROM as all I have seen is pure speculation so far on these forums?
If any other Mini S owners can comment on the QTEC/iMate ROM argument that would also be a great help!
thanks.
I've just installed the Qtek 2.17 Rom on my mini, but now i'm having activesync problems. Not sure it's related, although I am tempted to try the Kjam 2.16 rom to see if it's any better. Will let you know when i've installed it...
Ady
I've been using the iMate 2.16.9.1 rom since it came out in feb, and it works fine for me. Dtharby, To answer your question you do need to use lokiwiz to unlock the SIM and CID before upgrading
After hacking around on my Laptop, I've resolved the activesync issue I was having, without going back to 2.16. So 2.17 seems stable, fast and bug free so far...
thanks guys. It's reassuring to hear there's some Mini S users in the UK that have has success with the new ROMs.
I think I'll try flashing tonight....maybe going to go for QTEC (just cause it came out later!!)
One last thing - is it actually possible to roll back to the shipping O2 ROM from these new 2.x ROMs?
cheers!
I've been reading here for a couple of hours now - and looking at the ftp site and wiki - yet I'm still not sure what I need. I'm looking to update my Verizon (US) issued BA that is running ROM 1.36 WWE, Radio HA01_151 (not sure how to translate that), Ext ROM 1.36.117, and BT build 3500.
I'd like to update everything I can, I had a single update package at one point but now can't seem to find it anyplace.
Can someone tell me if there is a WWE package that will work here in the US with Verizon that is up to date?
Thanks in advance!
Anyone have an original shipped Vodafone ROM? Upgraded to the Cingular release and wanting to revert back, didn't see it posted in the wiki or FTP.
I'd like to do the same thing actually. I think the Cingular ROM has made my 750 a little unstable. Either that or Cingular's doing stuff to the network in my area and it's affecting my phone. I think it's the Cingular ROM though.
I too am seeing funny things going on with the Cingular ROM installed. I want to go back to the Voda ROM (original version).
I have search MANY forums all over the world and cannot find the original Voda ROM for this phone.
Whoever gets it, please let me know so I can get it.
Thanks
Did anybody find it?
You will need to wait until Vodafone releases an update for the Treo 750v before you can restore their ROM.
I have a original Vodafone ROM, well its unlocked but I don't know how to copy it, if someone will guide me through it, I wouldn't giving it up to everyone.
Vodafone ROM please?
Hi,
I just bought a Used 750v - it was originally the Vodafone 750v but it looks like the Cingular ROM has been installed on it.
I am looking to Restore it back to the Factory Default.
thanks!
I hear new Vodafone rom for the 750v will be out at the end of the month (End of Jan), this will also be of a higher AKU... Still no HSDPA support, that comes in March/April time with another update....

I guess keep an eye out her or other forums. I am guessing a Palm will act to get them removed from the site if they are hosted here.

Don't worry, a new release is imminent now. (without HSDPA though)

You see the build I am running?
Ok... so you appear to have WM5 AKU 2.6 on your 750v. Maybe the ROM is coming hopefully sooner than later.

So if you already have the new build, why don't you share it, or tell us when to expect the new rom? I can't wait for a new rom, I hope it fixes some nasty bugs on my treo..
I'd rather have a Cingular ROM than a Vodafone ROM with AKU2.6...AKU2.3 and AKU2.6 aren't really different at all. But an AKU3.x ROM, now we're talkin...
I'd rather have a Voda ROM since I don't want/need the Cingular customizations. I also don't use MSN messenger so that one is a non-issue.
Hi there,
Have spotted that Calico had an original French-ROM 750v.
Calico, if it remained untouched, are you considering exchanging it with my original English-ROM version? Where are you based?
Cheers, Dom
Oops sorry... wrong post...
I have searched the forums and found contradicting postings on the above subject .
For those who have been successful in getting to WM 5.0 after the WM 6.0 upgrade, where did you get the WM 5.0 file.
I'll really appreciate the help. Thanks

I was able to retain my copy of the TREO 1.16 update from palm.com/hk which is WM5 updater. I checked the site and it's still there.
There are links to official Palm WM5 ROMS in the forums here - both a Vodafone and a Cingular one. I found them myself this week after a bit of searching around and looking back through old threads. Sorry I didn't bookmark them, but they are there alright
I'm sure you have a good reason to roll back (return the unit, etc).
As for me: as long as the 750 is working I will NEVER go back to WM5...
WM6 solved the few irritating issues I had with the 750. Now it rocks!
Y.
Hi,
Does anyone have a release date for the 6.1 ROM image on 3 UK?
I have spoken to 3 UK and they are not aware of such an update for the device.
Many thanks
I don't think it's been released yet, I flashed mine with the standard HTC 6.1 ROM and i don't see many benefits, also Skype does not work on 6.1 whereas it did on the 3 ROM.
I'd like to flash back but can't find the original 3 ROM
Hmm,
Dont need skype will use a proper SIP client.
Maybe flashing to the original HTC rom is a better way to-go and remove the customization that "3" have added.
Cheers,
Gavin
