ok i had a screenshot app...on my cyanogen rom...then i switched2jachero...and its gone...does anyone know how to get it back
Not sure if this is the same app, but it works. Extract the zip, don't rename.

You can use DDMS thru SDK to take screenshots of your Dream.
Guys, this is the version of the app that was free on the market. I believe the developer is now charging for an updated version of the app. I can't remember the thread, but I got this apk from someone who posted it here. If someone tells me otherwise I would happily remove it, it's not my intention to spread warez.

So it's warez in one ROM, but not another? Not trying to sound like an ass, but it's hard to understand that logic. Anywho I have removed it, to make people happy...
EDIT : Looks like this app appeared on softpedia as freeware.

When it gave a su request you chose "always allow" right?
but it doesnt ask me dat
Is your phone even rooted?! If it's not, the app won't work and you will need to use the SDK to take screenshots using DDMS.

I'd like it to be proof-read by somebody else. Not meaning to be disparaging to your possible skill, but a guide written with the same rampant disregard of English shown here is likely to lead to confusion. Guides and tutorials should be written mindful of the fact that exactness and clarity is required.
I would really like to know how to sign a ROM... mainly because I'd like to be able to modify existing ROMs with different apps and ringtones prior to flashing, which would be MUCH easier than having to do everything through Terminal after flashing.
It would help if there was a list of hero apps that would work when creating a normal G1 rom (not hero).

Look in the theme forum for stericson's auto-signing tool. You can sign roms with it. Its reallyeasy to set up and you can use it to sign .zip files. Its what i use with all my themes and it works great

nope have not fixed it yet. seems like its a original dev phone but it came boxed brand new. in the mean time, the data sync does not open
and
system update gives the error - com.setting error or something like that..

However Gapps is not an .apk file. You need to flash Gapps with the help of a recovery ROM & for that you need to have Android SDK installed. If all this is latin and greek to you; you should visit here

I would also suggest you to go through ROM Bible sticky in this section.
Alternatively you can unzip gapps file and look for marketUpdater.apk in system>app folder and install it manually. I have not tried this method ever but you can give it a shot; it will not brick your phone.
Thanks for the answer guys, i think i have a dev phone had a look at the rom bible so i can root i . but i dont know what rc versoin the device is cos this does not exist in the build number as in post one. also can you recommend a stable rom update for a beginner.

Hey, so i am having trouble trying to get any of the fonts iv downloaded to be my main. Everyone saying i have to. ..settings and then application n check 'unknown sources' which i cant seem to see. The only thing that worked was when i go to the settings n font..n click more for fonts i did so n sends me to the market n thats it. But most u have to pay for n right now i dont like the free one. Can any help me out..

Installing new fonts, although it may sound simple, is gonna probably take some serious reading on your part. Get your phone rooted, install and learn how to use ClockworkMod ,then go to the thread below for some yummy new fonts ready for the flashing.

well you have to first download a rom you created or someone's rom and it will enable you to check unkown sources. Also there is another way you can do this by downloading super one click by short fuse which alows you to do everything to your phone even root it and alow you to have unknown sources! Hope this helped!!
I am using version 12 of GBX rom and i am on T-Mobile US however i can't find Need for Speed shift in the market. I downloaded market enabler and spoofed myself to be Tmobile US just in case and that still didn't work.

EDIT tried usimg market enabler and still can't find it, same thing says cant be found. However pulls right up on my fiance's stock nexus one on 2.3.3.

As the title says - Adding libs to roms, can someone point me in the right direction? I have been a member of this forum for a while, just not a posting member, I now feel it is my time to add something back to the community, is it as simple as adding it to the rom whilst flashed to an X8? maybe developpers little bit bz rite now..
what i can advice you is..
just flash the room and then use 'root explorer' to play with lib
make sure your phone rooted

I want to make the whole sense rom work, BUT I can't access the system files without having the rom installed which is pretty gay.. I need some way of accessing it in the .img format which then I can flash to my phone to test... mshhh... plus I'm not quite sure which libs will work (ofcourse when I find out I will seek permissions before uploading the rom...)
To open .img you could use Winimage or Poweriso or something similar.

Already tried.. comes up with an error stating about unknown formats..

Already tried, same problem... I found an unyaffs2 program compiled for windows which allowed me to extract the image I just need to mkyaffs2 it back to img then maybe I can get it working BUT I need to be in Linux and I can't be bothered making a VM at the moment...
Maybe someone can help me with this? We could work together to make a fully working sense rom... come on people.. someone who wants this must have a bit of knowledge on the subject...
