[SOLVED]lost my ringtones - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Rooted my G1 Loaded different roms over past few days. Also have tried a few themes, in doing all this at some point I lost my ringtones. My current rom is cm 3.6.7.2 . with 1 ringtone called dream theme or something like that. Do I just go to market and down load some new tones or is there a way to get the 1.5 ringtones back?

Wait, so the stock ringtones were actually used by someone? I figured everyone just downloaded Ringdroid app and made there own ringtones with music that was on the SD card.

I hear what your saying but the stock ones are nice for work ...more professional

Couldn't tell you how to recover them maybe a dev will be able to pull some stock tones and zip it in a file for you or something..

Read the op........ DL the audio resources and put them on your SD card (cyans thread)

Thanks B-manoo7
That couldn't have been any easier. Should have looked there, leave it to cyan to be so on top of things.... even the smallest of details

Lol, yes its nice to look at the obvious places first eh? Anyways, now that you've solved your problem do you mind adding [SOLVED] to the title of your thread so people who have the same problem can find the solution easier? Thanks.

Humble request going out to any Tilt owner with the stock rom (ringtone files)...

To anyone who has the stock ATT Tilt ROM, (or someone who has a ROM with all the original WM6 ringtones) would you please do me a big ole' favor and grab the ringtones from your phone, zip them up, and post them? I finally flashed my first ROM yesterday, and it's great, but it only has a couple ringtones to choose from, and none of them are the ones I used most from the stock rom.
It seems that the quickest and easiest way to grab the files I need is to connect the phone to the PC so you can explore that way, go to the \Windows directory, sort by File Type, scroll down to the "w's" and copy all the Windows Media Audio .wma files whose filenames start with "Ring - ...".
They should all be pretty small so I would think the total size of the zip file should end up being relatively small as well.
I'd be ever so grateful!

You're very welcome. Just trying to give back.
You're the best P1! Thanks!
P1, I just looked at your list. Very comprehensive, but I don't think you've got the one I used a lot. It was called Telephone Ring 3, I think. There was also Telephone Ring 1 and 2 that I didn't use as much. You don't have those I assume?
Would anyone be able to just post those 3 files from their Tilt?
Thanks again.

Could you zip up all the default XPERIA ringtones for me?

hey guys.
Just a simple request to those who you have the time to do so.
I recently installed Gtrab's W4X WM6.5 Cooked Rom but didn't realise it had a lot of the ringtones included with the xperia missing.
I've searched the forums and found the odd file containing ringtones taken from handsets but they are different tones.
Could you please copy and zip all the ringtones from the Windows folder from a default Xperia rom and upload it to the internet for me please
Cheers,
Hyped
I need them too. can somebody please post them?
Thank you
Press me softly....
Thank you for your help, however, unfortunately, these are not the ringtones I need.
I'm not sure where they're saved but there are some ringtones called like Alarm1, Alarm2, Alarm3 and such. And it's in this location I need the ringtones. I think they are scattered throughout the Windows folder admist the system files.
So, could you possible collect and zip these please

Extract the rar file on your computer, connect device via active sync, once syncing click "explore" and your my documents folder should be visible, move the extracted mp3 ringtones to this folder. Hope that helps

There is a thread or two around here somewhere with a link to all the OEM ringtones / sounds etc. I'm not sure what it was titled though.
It was a rar file and nearly 38mB in size.

app menu customizing

is there any way to customize the app menu? such as adding folders for games, email & im, media..? tryed searching the forum and google but cant find anything
if you're rooted and have one of the compatable roms, there is a thread in the development forum which has a customized launcher.apk, allowing you to do all the things you just asked for.
i had just got the g1 2 days ago, kind of want to wait a little before doing that stuff. i got a file manager... there isnt any way to just get to a folder with the icons and add folders, and rearrange? always was the first thing i did with my WM phones... im a little OC about my menus
Like he said, not without the new launcher. You can add a folder to the desktop and name it and such. Don't worry it took me a week before I decided to flash my phone.

[Q] Cricket sound

Does anyone have the single chirp cricket notification sound? It's in some roms and not in others. I d/l all the audio zips I found here and none of them have the cricket sound. If no one has it, does anyone know how I can find the different sounds in a particular rom so I can grab it myself. Thanks.

What roms have the sound. I'll download the rom, extract the sound and post it for you if you don't know how to do it yourself.
Ughh. Of course you would offer to do it for me...problem is, I'm not sure which roms had the sound in it. Thank you so much for the offer. Do you know where in the zip file the notification sounds usually are, then I can do all the leg work myself, searching the roms. Or does it differ from developer to developer how the sounds are filed in the folders? I've searched around in a couple roms, and haven't seen any sound files.
I'm looking for this sound now
I finally found the sound...here it is.
13islucky said:
I finally found the sound...only problem was that it's an .ogg file and it can't be uploaded here. I changed the extension to .wav so it would attach. Just change it back to .ogg and it should work.

You say it was attached to that post or that you're going to?
lol sorry I didn't see it if it was.
Thanks so much tho I was getting tired of listening to all these different cricket sounds on zedge and not hearing the one. My ears were starting to bleed... lol
Sorry, had to put it in a zip to be valid for the forum...
Last question. Do you know where I put it so that it shows up as an available sound to choose?

Sure, just put it in where ever you have music or make a new folder named sounds, then use an app called "rings extended", that will let you choose any sound for ringers and notifications.

[Q] installing Ringtones & changing fonts?

I just recently got myself a G1 and really happy with it.
I rooted and installed Cyanogen 6 RC3 which appears to be working good - had it running for a few days now.
Personally i dont like the default ringtones and would like to use my own MP3 ringtones.
Secondly, i would like to change the font, have seen screenshots from other users who have done this.
Question is how do you add ringtones and change the fonts?
Thanks for the help.
I would suggest that you update to Cyanogen 6 stable.
For ring tones the easiest way is to just and them on your sd card.
Make a folder called media\audio\ringtones, media\audio\alarms, media\audio\notifications.
Just put your ring tones etc. in the appropriate folders.
As for the font I don't know.
Thanks for your help on the ringtones.
Dont suppose you know easiest method to put music onto the sd card as well?
add a folder called music or what ever....
Can't remember if a reboot will re-scan or if it is in the music app to rescan.
I think a reboot will scan and find it automagically.
