nice find
Im using it now, its cool that you can turn it off, hide, sign out etc, i think it will come in handy at some point....added to the collection
I am trying to install this on my phone, but every time I try to install it's failing and saying please reinstall and opening internet explorer with download page.
installing as we speak.... question though which I didnt quite understand from the page I read on it. In order for me to see someone on the phone... say... my wife... she also has to have this program installed? It would be awesome if it was a simple as putting in someones phone number and you could get a trace on them haha... like in the movies
trying to install but it keeps giving me an error saying it cannot find the URL required during the Midilet install. help?
I downloaded this but will the Manila/TF2D tabs still point correctly to Google Maps?

I'm for instead of new features, they fix it for VGA. If you have a vga or larger screen, allow us to zoom in more than a 2 block radius. I miss being about to zoom to 2 house wide zoom.
The file GoogleMaps cannot be found...
Anybody getting this when trying to get this to work via contact menu?

Yeah she have to have this installed. And you need two Google account. One for you and your wife. Run the program then hide it in the background. The stalking begins.. Lol
You can also view from igoogle. It says that it's unavailable in my location, but if i go to m.google.com/latitude in my browser, it takes me back to igoogle and latitude works.
Installed yesterday, working like a charm. Like a couple others have mentioned, it only gives me the download if I use PIE.
It's really pretty cool, especially the "exit but hidden" feature. I hate having anything in my task list
I'm running into a ton of bugs with this, on the PRoven 1.14a ROM.
THe first time I run it, all is fine. But the second time, I get a lot of nonsense in the menus. The left softkey says "your phone number" or "los angeles," depending on which screen I'm on, then brings up functions that don't seem to make any sense ...
If I uninstall, then reinstall, all is fine the first time I run it. And it goes wacky the second time again.
Here's the cab if anyone wants it.
This is an awesome feature...wife and i tested it today. Now my two oldest kids (sitting on WM devices) can't get away with the stuff my wife and I did when they start high school next year. I am so happy I'm not old. I'm such a ninja father!

aha ninja father's
But do they have google maps always on?
If the wm phone is off it isn't possible to look where they are or am i wrong?
I installed latitude but i'm the only one on the map (i know i don't have any friends. but it would be nice to look where my kids are.
Then it will be Xmas tomorrow, they get a nice wm machine
Installed it and it works like a charm. Combined with the new radio (for better GPS locking), its an awesome application.
Thanks!
<shameless plug>It's included in viBranZeOS 1.0 ROM</shameless plug>
I am having trouble with Twitroid. I has integration with TwitPic, which I have enabled. When I pick a image (or take an image) and click "Use this" it goes back to the main screen and the Camera icon has a X (crossout) on it. Im not sure what that means, since Twitroid doesn’t have any documentation on its website.
The official site is http://twidroid.com/ but I guess you knew that. As for support, I know for a fact that developers do read and reply their e-mail.
Did you try e-mailing them?

This is not completely true. Their website might have "stuck" moments where the server chocks on your http request but if you are using an application like Twidroid it uses a completely different method of connecting. Twitter's API has been bulked up to handle and avoid problems like you have said. Their API is like never down and their website on the other hand can have it's random moments but nothing a refresh of the page can't cure . So Twidroid is rarely affected like you said.

I think he is talking about presently. Twitter upgraded a bunch of stuff earlier this year. That link talks about 2008. Early 2008 was tough for Twitter, it got better over time like and tech site. You have to realize the user base is crazy compared to this time last year. If the system worked the same as it did last year, Twitter wouldn’t work 90% of the time.
Very sweet app, will do battle with Sherpa.
Similar app to Sherpa, BUT has Facbook intergrated!! Very nice UI and icons look awsome!!

Lol just personal opinion
Interesting read from Business Jounral:
Mobile search and information startup Aloqa GmbH and named Sanjeev Agrawal as its CEO.
Agrawal was previously global head of product marketing at Google Inc. and later vice president for products at TellMe Networks Inc., which was acquired by Microsoft Corp.
Aloqa said the funding came from Wellington Partners Venture Capital and angel investors. The company is based in Munich, Germany, and has its U.S. headquarters in Palo Alto.
The company has released a beta of its application for handsets that use Google's Android operating system. Users automatically get information on their mobile device about friends, events and local offers based on their location without having to launch a browser or search application.
"What appealed to us about Aloqa is its proprietary technology for tracking billions of moving and static objects without draining mobile handset batteries, without jamming cellular networks with extra data, and without creating user privacy concerns," said Ram Srinivasan, managing partner of Wellington's Palo Alto office. "The mobile app springs into action only when two or more objects come meaningfully close to each other."
So its safe to say that we should expect great things to come from Aloqa. I hope
Aloqa seems to focus on providing notifications to things around you in a new way while Sherpa seems to want to learn where like to go and what you like to do in a new way. Both are location suggetion apps. They both have their shortfalls early on. It will be interesting to see how these two mature.
I just Downloaded this app, and it's taking FOREVER to configure...should I just stick with Google Place Directory/Sherpa?
Personally I really like the app. You can add and remove things from it and its really slick. I like how it shows things in button format opposed to having things all over the place.

Whats taking you forever to do? Just start it and pick what you want. I had it up and running in less than 30seconds. Of course if you want to add and remove channels that takes a few minutes, but I left everything in a default state.

Very true, it will be interesting to see if Aloqa jumps on the "Adaptive Learning" aspect of what makes Sherpa unique. After all Aloqa is only a beta version.

Exactly I really like it as well, if I would rate Aloqa vs. Sherpa on a scale of 1 to 10
Aloqa = 8
Sherpa = 6
You can customize it to what your into, for example
If you hate burger king, remove it. If you love Coffee add it.
By default a McDonalds tab shows, I removed it and added the FastFood tab which includeds McDonalds and others (KFC, BK, PizzaHut, Subway, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Carls and In-n-Out)
Even has a weather tab (pretty cool)

Sign in to your Facebook account from the website then click on Activate.
Are you in some way associated with this app. Just a curious question since it seems that you have gone above and beyond normal fanboyism in your thread regarding this app. No offense intended here, just curious Personally I find that Sherpa misses a lot of places, and while Places Directory seems to get the places that Sherpa misses, it also seems to miss quite a few places too... (often the places that Sherpa gets ) So if this new app can combine the two in terms of what it finds.... that would be great. Will see what happens
I think this is much better than Sherpa...though I believe with Sherpa...it will remember what you search...but who really searches for ATM's and Starbucks and forget?
I decided to take the GPS and maps on my HD7 WP7 for a spin today. I'm usually more articulate with my words. I feel I'm well versed in grammar but the only word I had for the shock of maps was garbage.
I really miss google maps and Bing mobile or even my co-pilot. Talk about a limited app in functionality and value.
I couldn't tell for the most part whether my phone was connected via GPS or using aGPS. The circle was always pulsating from tiny to the whole screen.
A lot of the missing features have already been noted but I just never realized how useless it was. It just got me craving my HD2.
I really hope Google releases Google maps for WP7 so that MS can wake up.
Other than the maps it seems my GPS location is always off more than a couple feet. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I agree, Maps could use some work. Good news is that Maps is part of the big January update.
I think the Bing map has gotten a lot better in a short time.... I have no complaints myself and I've had quick and steady locks.
I'm looking forward to navigation via the update, but I'm happy at this point.

Same here. My Maps is accurate and on point every time. And the smooth little animations are awesome as well. for me its a much better experience than I had on my hd2 and samsung vibrant. I believe if your having problems with the maps on hd7 there must be something causing it.
Yeah Bing Maps on WP7 is very poor. I'm out in Mumbai at the moment, where Bing's map data is nearly useless, but even in NY, it's atrociously poor. GPS takes time to update, but that's ok if the map displays fine. The "minimalist" UI doesn't display anything (no one zoom view will give all the names for the roads shown on the map).
What use is it to see a bunch of criss-crossing lines (see below) if I don't know what they are? Especially if you're navigating in a new area and are looking for cross-streets, landmarks, etc., the WP7 Maps UI paradigm is highly counter-productive (vs. Google Maps, or even Bing on other platforms, which show traditional, much more useful, maps).

You want to live in the UK - Bing totally rubbish compared with good old Google Maps on my old WM.
Searched for my local takaway and it couldn't even find it - really frustrating!
Come on MS get your act together!
CD (UK)
I live in NJ and I have no Issues with Bing maps. No doubt Google maps spoiled me, but Bing is good too. I am sure they would improve on these in their next iteration. C'mon guys, you got to know it only gets better from this point. MS has learnt a huge lesson with their Windows Mobile. They realized that if they don't keep up, other OS will walk all over them. With their first iteration of this OS, it's smooth like butter... and Everything works as its suppose to. Now they would start refining stuff...
I Agree!

I don't know what you mean by it has nothing to do with the phone. The signal is the phone. My point in my OP is that when I stand at a point in an open space it pulsates. Common sense tells me that if the bubble is a dot then its using GPS; if its a big circle the size of the screen it's using AGPS or not enough satellites are locked.
Of all the phones I've had if I stand in an open space and I'm stagnant and aquire a GPS signal I'm locked. my devices will never loose the satellites or switch to AGPS. My HD7 seems to do that.
The quality of the hardware and the algorithm the OS or the chips use determines the quality of the signal other than the obvious being my physical location.
It might be a software issue though. It is version 1.0...

Anyone has problem with Maps like mine? My Maps app only has 2 icons: "Me" and "Search". I don't have the "Direction" icon, so I can't search for direction, and the "Search" function doesn't work as well When I click search, it returns me to the Bing Search, not Maps search.

I'm in the UK and I too have not been impressed with Bing Maps. It's fine if you are ona main road but I had to go to a side street of Brick Lane last week and not many of the streetnames were showing up on the map. The streets were there, just no names.
Bing and Google Navigator on WM did not support trun by turn Navigation in the UK, I hope this improves under WP7.

Same with me. My biggest complaint so far is the search feature. I typed in "KFC" as in Kentuck Fried Chicken and it said "No Results" lol. Really??
And tried a local store and in showed me results in another part of the country.
I can be patient for the update but still prefer google maps.
Got the same issue and no clue about how solve it. If you find one could you msg me?
Btw I tried to reset the phone and NOK
Oh and I forgot how much I hate how when typing a location it doesn't start auto-suggesting like Google Maps does. Instead it forces you to type what your searching for letter by letter 100% correctly. And you better hope you do otherwise you're like me I spelled the street name "Britiania Rd" with 2 t's like "Brittania Rd" and ended up 150 miles away from what I was actually looking for. And it didn't even give me the choice to choose between the two!!!
Not sure how everybody else feels... I don't see a need to cry about everything, but I'm ASSUMING that since MS put out such a cool version of Bing Maps for the iTurd that they will do the same if not better for their own OS.
But at the same time I'm hoping for a Google hook-up too. I'd like to see a Google Hub where you can add the G-services you use... Maps, Gmail, Calendar, voice, Picasa, etc. Being able to access my "places" on GMaps would be kinda handy... but then again I have it saved on Bing too, so yeah... c'mon MS.
I'm not an experienced programmer. Or in that way inclined but would I'd like to develop or would want helping. An app that would activate the google now voice search from a pebble application.
1. Activate pebble and access the OK pebble now app.
2. Would activate the google now voice search on your phone.
2.5 speak your request through your headset (if wearing a headset) (hands free).
3. Speak your request through the microphone through your phone.
4. Does the request in your pocket. Shows task complete on the pebble.
5. Show message sent to recipient.
Thanks in advance. if an experienced pebble developer decided to take on the project. i'm willing to pay them £10 through paypal once the job is finished. all i want to see is the project complete.
Vibrate on task complete.
I tried my hand at the application and couldn't do it.
UI is very simplistic.
I've just found an application that has functionality like what I'm asking for. Its called tasker and it works in conjunction with pebble tasker. So commands and apps can be open from the watch and to be opened up on the phone itself without even touching your phone. But its so long winded.
There's so many more options that you can do with the tasker/pebbletasker but I just want a google now voice search launcher.
No with the pebble receiving an update that allows you to have shortcuts to the apps that you assign them buttons too. This is a perfect opportunity to have a google now voice search launcher or a siri launcher so it covers both platforms.
Don't forget, I am willing to pay someone that will develop this idea. I will be creating images that I would like the UI to be.

Did you ever get any traction on this? I just got my first pebble and this is the first thing I went looking for. I downloaded tasker and bought pebble tasker but I seem to lack the patience to figure out how to make that work. I agree that a shortcut would be perfect so I could operate google now in my pocket. All I use it for is to set reminders and save voice to text notes in evernote but it's a pain in the rear to get myphone out every time. I tried an app that listens for okgoogle even while the screen is off, but it triggered intermittently for no reason and other times would refuse to work at all. This would be the ideal solution. Count me in for $20.

Sadly, no. I can't develop anything but film. But I'll put $20 in for the developer who puts it together.
There is someone who created a nice dashboard app that lets me find my phone if lost, control wifi, lock the screen, and a number of other things. I think I'll email that developer and see if they can just add that. I really want this and I want it to work. And with the new Pebble coming out soon I think I'll be picking one of those up as well so I'm committed to the platform. This is the one thing I feel I'm missing.
Not really what you are after, but I very easily set up a Tasker task to wake up my phone (but keep it locked) so I could give it "OK Google" commands. This way I can send texts or navigate home without taking my phone out. Pebble Tasker makes it only a click away.

I did this as well, but now, every time I launch PebbleTasker on my phone, Voice Search begins opening repeatedly and I can't even get to it to try to add additional tasks. Have you run into this? Did I do something wrong? Al I did was create a profile, then a task to launch the VoiceSearch App. It came up on my pebble fine and works flawlessly. It wasn't until I went to add somethign else to the PebbleTasker that I ran into this. Since then I've deleted the task from PebbleTasker and it still does it. Very odd. Any ideas?
I didn't do mine this way because your phone needs to be awake for the Voice Search app to open. However, I just set it up to see if I had the same issue as you, and I didn't. Everything worried as it should. I don't know why it isn't working for you.
My task is just to wake up my phone, then I give my "OK Google" voice command.

I didn't do mine this way because your phone needs to be awake for the Voice Search app to open. However, I just set it up to see if I had the same issue as you, and I didn't. Everything worried as it should. I don't know why it isn't working for you.

OK. I'm setup a little different. I installed the Xposed mod which lets me do this without a task to wake the phone. I simply set a task to launch VoiceSearch, and when I press the button on pebble tasker, the app launches without even lighting up the screen.
Here's the link to it. forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-secure-google-search-t2606688
I think there's something else going on here though. It was working fine Sunday. I'm having general issues with Google now it seems. Reminders aren't getting set to notes and instead are getting sent to alarms. Even if I say "remind me to get cheese the next time I'm at walmart", it tries to set an alarm then it stops because it's waiting for me to set a time. I installed Keep thinking that might fix it...no joy. I cleared the cache and all data, uninstalled google app and the launcher, restarted to clear the cache partition, rebooted in safe mode, went back to regular mode and still get the same problems. Kind of stumped right now. I can't delete older cards and if I go directly into reminders and try to push the plus sign button to add a reminder, it correctly identifies my words and they go on the screen and it just stops there. it's not locked up or anything. It just won't go any further. So something is really wrong with google. just dont' have a clue what it could be at the moment.
Yeah, it sounds like like the Pebble task is the least of your worries. I read here that someone else was having a similar reminders issue. I have no idea if he is rooted or not, so I don't know if it is Xposed related. Good luck.

The plot thickens. I have a Nexus 7 mounted on my refrigerator basically for Google now and the way I can just say "make a note" and it will save a note in evernote for me. It's stock and with the latest auto update is running 4.4.4. A power cord is connected perpetually. I haven't touched the thing physically in MONTHS. But apparently in the last 3-4 days it has developed the same problem with reminders not working. It gets stuck just like my phone does when I'm manually trying to make a reminder. It's like the entire reminder function was removed and my phone just grabbed onto alarms as a last resort rather than not do anything at all. I've googled it and haven't found anyone else with the issue (or they haven't noticed yet). but to have it on two different devices at the same time - one of which I haven't even touched indicates that there's a conflict with an update and probably a common app between the two devices.......now to figure out what it might be.......

As far as I know, a lot of voice-initiated command will become available with Pebble-core's connection to Alexa
Currently, the pebble is also capable of doing such with 'snowy' commands. See mydogsnowy.com
I have no stake in that product whatsoever, and in fact I struggling a bit with its voice-recognition ... I'm dutch, so perhaps my english is not adequate for the recognition. So... your mileage may vary, but from what I've tested and seen described it's really promising

Very odd. Any ideas?
