Not sure if this belongs here or in the theme section so i apologize if i got it wrong. I just switched from a rooted g1 to an unrooted mytouch 3g and right now i'm back to having the boring white notification bar. Is there any app that lets you change the color of the notif bar without root bc it's been too long since ive seen the white bar and i don't like it!
one of the home replacements like ahome or dxtop MIGHT. but you'd have to install an entire theme for that, and not just the status bar. i suggest you root.
Changing the notification bar requires root. None of the home replacements do it.

only with a rooted device atm
it might be possible in a home replacement, seeing as they change just about everything else. as for phones without home replacements, pentace is right, the only way to do it is with a rooted phone, because you have to be able to change the statusbar.png located in the framework-res.apk, which requires that you be able to flash a custom image containing theme elements. if you have a rooted phone, the process is relatively simple. you can even do it with a stock 1.5 rom if you replace the right file.
Is there any transparent notification bar metamorphs out there?
I think this might be what you are looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768628
If you only want the status bar and not the font and apps and what not, just run the framework-res part. Let me know if you need help. Enjoy.
I did see that but couldnt tell if the notification bar was transparent or not.
Thank you
Yeah i flashed it and its nice and looks great, But i still want something with a completely transparent bar.
Tried that the first run, and it looked great when using LP+ and having the status bar hidden. When you would hit the notification button, it would pop down and you would only see the icons/letters/numbers etc, but otherwise it just shows up as a blank-black area. Something to do with that space is allotted
for the status bar and you don't really get it back, just because it's transparent. There might be a way around it, but not really sure yet. If you wanna try it, this was the first run of Transparent Chaos:

Yeah I've been looking for the same thing for a few weeks. They can't do it on the eris yet though because of something with rosie and it not taking the background all the way up to the top so it would always look black anyway.

I think it's LP+ that doesn't allow the transparency because it just shows black behind the bar. I've heard that it works with ADW Launcher because of an option it has, I haven't tried it though because I prefer LP.
I'm pretty sure that's not it. I just tried it, and got the same results as LP+.
Can someone provide us with a transparent statusbar metamorph theme?Even a white one. This solid black statusbar is annoying...^^

Regard Daniel
(ps more themes WILL come, when i have time to spare)
I 've managed to extract framework folder.I opened framework-res.apk and found a lot of folders.I assume the .png i am looking for is located in drawable-ldpi folder, but the problem is that i cannot find which .png it is.If someone could guide me things would be much easier. Thanks Daniel for your response, can't wait for your themes...
Hey there!
sorry for activating up that old thread, but i'm trying to get my statusbar transparent at the momen.
I think al almost did it, there's just one strange "bug".
I changed all the *.png relatet to the status bar with transparent pictures, that does work for now i think,
BUT:
If my Screen is locked, i can see the background picture behind the status bar, if screen is unlocked, background picture is "cut" under the statusbar, statusbar is just black, if i drag down the bar, i can see that the dragdown menu is "sliding" between the statusbar and that strange black background....
any suggestions or tips?

If you have it working that far i cen tell you how to see it on regular screen too. You need to be running ADW.launcher (or launcher pro but i have no idea how to enable it)
In ADW launcher there is a setting for Wallpaper hack , in system settings i believe. Turn that off and you should see the wallpaper through the statusbar.
thanks for the reply, would be nice to know how it works with launcher pro, that's my prefered launcher...
will test it in ADW now.
I guess there could be some similar trick to Launcher Pro.
ADW is working fine, looks cool, unfotunately i can't attach files here, if i could, i would share my framework-res.apk with everyone here
I did already build 3 framework-res.apk file, theyre similar to each other, no big changes done, just other style of the status bar and changed battery Icons, sothat normal battery icon is black/white, only the orange an red batteryicons are colored.
Launcher Pro doesn't work, there's no way to use it without the wallpaper hack...
at the moment I'm trying to build my own custom Rom, but have to read more about that before i can realy build one...
i made this thread already and got no answers so made another maybe new people will see it that know
I want to hide the notification bar in the lockscreen... im using launcher pro with the bar hidden and it looks very nice to me. Im also thinking of buying widgetlocker so i can use the same widgets on the lockscreen but need to get rid of the notification bar. Is this possible. Also im using cm rc3

Hey all you talented developers,...
as our SAMOLED Displays suffer from degradation of the organic LED when constantly emmiting bright white or blue,
some of us found here the need of a hideable status bar.
I searched all the internet and all of this forum but couldnĀ“t find such an app.
Is there any app or widget possible which can hide or un-hide the status bar?
Or is there any adb code that hide it and onther adb code that un-hides it??
Any help would be highly welcome.
Somehow ist should be possible.... at least we are on android
greetz the bapsack
Edit:
P.S.
1. as far as I know no launcher hides the statusbar permanently
2. even though some (!) apps might support fullscreen the status bar is still there in most apps
Both LauncherPro and Zeam have hideable status bars. See market.
the status bar is only hidden in the launcher
if you open any app e.g. internet or navigation the status bar is back in its place
Try dolphin browser, it has full screen I think

I wonder if adding the notitlebar attribute in the framework manifest would work
No clue though, will try when have time or someone else could
Degradation? I don't think so.
Anu source?
I think the display only suffers from a minor burn-in problem, where the burn in disappears after somewhile.
well take this pic of a blank white screen aas a proof
you can still see the status bar as a shadow

ADW.Launcher has a hidable status bar. You just flick your finger UP, the status bar hides. Flick it UP again, it returns.
PS : I can fit in 5 rows of icons easily.

the aim is to hide the freakin status bar permanently
e.g.: even when navigating, web-browsing or running any other app
This adw.Launcher can NOT do!
Just start any app and zack, back is the statusbar no matter what launcher u use ADW.Launcher, Lauchner.Pro or Zeam
I have status bar burn in, viewable on the screen test blue background.
5 months, low brightness, status bar hidden most of the time using launcher pro.
Pretty sad really

That's not even a Galaxy S hah, and no burn in here with launcher pro 99% of it's life. I'm not sure how this is viewed, but if someone without a status bar is getting the same thing, it's seems a bit irrelevant in general to blame the status bar?
@bapsack
I accidently thanked you for that post hah wanted to quote it, anyways the reason for that is because it's not possible to replace that yet obviously, nothing integrates all the dynamic info it displays. It's required sorry bud!

tell me how to do and I will check
My bet is:
-make your notification bar 0-20% black
-set 50%/50%/20% R/G/B color for notification bar font and make icons with blurred edges in the same color
NO way you will get a burn.
Thnak you MACHETE.
