3D video/photo shooting app for Android - G1 Apps and Games

Please, vote for my idea if you like it on Google Product ideas.
Or if you are an Android developer you can "just make it"

As you know, since last week Youtube makes it easier to upload and view 3D videos. More info:
http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2009/07/now-in-3d-join-experiment-with-us.html
"3D video/photo shooting app for Android. By using 2 Android devices the app should sync them by Bluetooth, so they can start, stop, pause simultaneously. After shooting the video this app should combine as red/green and share via Youtube/Picasa."

That isn't practical since you would need two devices.

I am sure that soon we will see phones with 2 cameras on the back that would be able to shoot directly in 3D, but until then I can't think of a more practical way for videos. Android should be the best environment for this.
For photos you are right, it is possible to do it with just a single camera.

nice idea, but highliy impracticle. 3D video shooting has been around for decades and it's still just a WOW-factro technology. Even with all the TVs that are going to be released with 3D capabilities, you still need to wear those goofy glasses in order to see things right.
Just because YouTube is catering to 3D video technology does not mean that we will see cellhpones with two cameras on them.

with this out
3d cameras on cell phones shouldn't be too far..

You don't need any kind of "special TV" to watch 3D images. The "goofy" glasses are available and are cheap enough (1.5-15$) to have them near your LCD TV or Monitor.
The world is moving much faster to the 3D technology. A recent example is Ice Age 3.
Back in year 2000, when I installed probably the first complete CarPC in Europe ( http://www.carstereo.com/installs/photo_gallery_album.cfm?home=yes&photoid=18833&galleryid=609 ) I heard very similar opinions that "it is not practical", and etc. Now it is something normal, available and you don't have to DIY.

When the TV came out, people called it "impractical" and a waste of time and that no one would sit on a chair to bother watching it.
When the PC came out, it was also called impractical and that nobody would want to use it.
When the G1 came out, I looked at it and thought to myself "damn that is one ugly phone, no one would ever want to use that." And my friends agreed with me.
Look at where we are now

Working For Sling Media

I just wanted to come gush about my new job. I am working at Sling Media, makers of the sling box as a regional sales rep.
WOOO HOOO
Excellent news! Mazel tov!
If Sling wants some even more free promotion or just feeling generous, I'd love to give a Slingbox a go. Santa thought I'd been a bad boy last year, for some reason

Good for you!
Hey, what would be the minimum requirements (data connection speedwise) at home and away from home to make the sling box be efficient?
Luiggi,
I would recommend an upspeed at home of at least 200 and a dl of the same. But the better up you have the better video quality, this is the most limiting factor as your DL speed will usually be quicker. That the beauty of their player as it optimizes based on your speed.
Vijay....
I will see what the url to your website or blog?

Thanks for the scoop!

Thanks for the response slimsaturn, buying one PRO right now and possible more for business down here.
Slingbox could really advertise differently and reach a much larger market. Aside from using it to watch TIVO, we use it for a security device. I watch it on my AT&T 8525. The picture is awesome, very clear.
The Composite is TIVO and the S-Video is hooked up to a multiplexer with 4 video cameras that are recorded to a hard drive. I can tune in to TIVO or what's going on at home anytime.
Our 2nd Slingbox Pro is hooked up to a TIVO and a VCR that controls 2 indoor cameras. We can check on our little dog or the kids while we're at work.
Anyway, when I'm in a store and I see people in the security aisle, I can't help but show them our set-up on my phone. The reactions that I get are awesome!
Congratulations! LOVE the Sling, TIVO too!
if i wasnt trying to save money for college i would already have a slingbox. the possibilities of that thing amaze me.

I'm into it, tho i dont have a car, but they do interest me
Please do share some.
I'm not huge into it but it is an interest of mine. Besides, I'm sure anyone here can recognize the beauty behind it all.
I use to be real big into it. DB drags and such. That was like 6-10 years ago though. My last system had 3 13" JL w7 powered by 3 JL 1000's... And yes my mother was right, my hearing has gone to ****.

one of the many pics of the build.....
and heres some of the one that i finished up last week.
Both need carpet, and the first one is getting something even more special.
there is an amprack in the top, there will be a flush mounted amp in there.
Let me know what you think.
nice boxes!!! wanna build me one???
I have a passing interest in car audio, just not a huge priority in the budget unfortunately.
This is what I have so far in my car:
dvd receiver with sirius and someday soon, bluetooth
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P3100DVD
front speakers
http://www.bostonacoustics.com/Pro60SE-P601.aspx
rear deck:
http://www.bostonacoustics.com/SR95-P627.aspx
Looking at these for the bass:
http://www.bostonacoustics.com/G310-P566.aspx
I already have a box that is in the recommended dimensions for these speakers.
Also, what is a good amp (not crazy expensive) to push these, or is there a better deal on 10inch woofers.
I'm looking for clean sound more than overall thump.
Any suggestions?
your link for the subs returned a server error
and im all about building something and shipping it....lol
Boston is an excellent brand, but compared to their retail pricing, there are better, less expensive options out there.
If youre looking for some ideas, shoot me a PM, i know of a few very good, lesser known companies that I have used, and also that i still use.
try this again. the 10"subs I've been looking at:
http://www.bostonacoustics.com/G310-P566.aspx
I agree, retail they are expensive, but they can be found for half of retail if you shop around.
Meant to edit that post, i clicked a second time and it worked.
They are killer sounding subs for sure. 300/pair isnt all that bad to be honest.

Will the 3D effect work with the Real3D glasses that cinemas are using now? They use passive 3D technology, but the lenses just look tinted as opposed to the red/blue ones.

I'm not sure what Real3D is, but if you're talking about those glases that use different polarisation for left and right (which is common over here in cinemas, these glasses look grey-ish), the no. You need a special screen for that.
Doing that with projectors is actually much easier than in a screen, as far as I know. You just use two projectors with polarization filters.

u should the paid version is WELL worth it.
Lol have to search for my 3d glasses.... again... Last time I used them, I needed them to look at the Mars pictures from NASA. I had to turn my whole house upside down to find them. In the end I had to drive 100 km to get a pair.
Hope I don't have to go through that hassle again to witness the next big step in science. Tetris in 3D, man this is much more exciting than searching for water at the other end of the universe.
seems like a fun game. always a fan of tetris. i'll check it out.
3D, why? everything is gonna be in 3D.. not like
Hmm nice game
I had tried once, but honstly I don't know how to play it. I wandered if I need a red-blue glasses.
But anyway, thanks!
great idea! kudos!
looks fun, nice work

World’s First 3D Laptops To Hit Shelves: Are They Worth Paying $2,648 For?

The world’s first 3D laptops hit shelves Sunday, and with a price of $2,648 each, it remains to be seen whether they are really worth shelling out that kind of cash. Samsung is behind the new 3D laptop with Compatible Parts . It is a version of the company’s Series 7 gaming laptop, which has been updated to include a “SuperBright” 1920×1080 3D LED display.
The popular tech blog reported the high-priced laptop on Monday, but added a very important caveat, which is the fact that a spokesman for Samsung has said that there are no plans to release a 3D laptop in the United States. So far it is only available in Asia.
The computer, which sports a bold bright yellow cover, has a Blu-ray drive to allow for 3D movie watching, and is all driven by an AMD Radeon HD 7870M graphics card that Samsung says is made for gaming, a 128GB solid-state drive and 1-terabyte hard disk, Laptop Keyboard , CNET reported.
The 3D laptop also features Intel Core i7-3610QM CPU, and has three three-core processors and other Compatible Parts .
Three-dimensional technology has been increasing in popularity in recent years, especially after “Avatar” became one of the most-successful films in history by taking advantage of 3D’s ability to make a visually impressive movie even more fascinating.
I wouldn't pay it. 3D is a stupid gimmick.
I'd buy it to lord over all the Mac ninnies.
"What's that say? Oh, I'm sorry, I can't see what's happening on your computer because I'm in... the THIRD dimension."

Believe me, I had a good one for $45, and it's not worth it, it's very limited, has a nausea inducing delay, bad resolution, bad optics, no good content except movies. Please save money and buy an Oculus Quest 2 for $299 or cheaper if used, it's unarguably on another level.
you can also go for a cheap 10$ one if you insist on using your phone for vr purposes as they all offer roughly the same experience at least thats my opinion on it
I agree with Kryptuz.
Your best bet is to purchase an Oculus quest 2.
The thing about using phones for your VR display... Over time phone screens get scratches in them no matter how tiny or big just from being in your pocket or whatever. A tiny scratch on the screen that isn't noticeable normally, will be very noticeable, frustrating or just plain tacky
once your viewing the screen through magnifying VR lenses. Nothing can touch the quest 2 screen so it's 100% safe from blemishes or scratches.
Not to mention, your phone is bloated with Google play store, search, services, framework, ect. That run in the background constantly. Diminishing it's VR potential.
Quest 2 does not have any potential diminishing background services. So the device is 100% focused on strictly VR. PLUS most phone VR sets only come with a single cheap Bluetooth remote. The quest 2 comes with dual position/motion/pressure sensitive controllers. The difference between physically reaching out and grabbing something Or pressing a button on a dinky lil thing.
Also worth mentioning the quest2 has something called the GUARDIAN. Which allows you to set the outline of your safe play zone. And the Oculus will make sure you stay within your designated SafeZone so you don't wonder into traffic or run into a wall.
If you just want to play media locally (movies, ect). Store media on phone, install DLNA from app store on phone. In DLNA app set the directory of the media. From the headset, install Pigasus. As long as both devices are on the same wifi, Pigasus will read media being broadcasted via DLNA from your phone.
Just trust me.... The quest2 is a much better option.
