Looking for a better email client than the native..free would be nice, the default one doesn't seem to refresh correctly. The Hero native one looked promising but went back to cupcake instead
Any suggestions since you guys have been using it longer than I have (since Sunday)
you can try K-9 seems to work really well. is based on the native client but seems to work better worth a try.

I'd recommend K9. Had it since it was first released onto the market, it's an excellent app. in my opinion.
the htc mail app is excellent. see the rogers rom.
Another vote for K9 Mail. Latest version that's not yet on the market has nice improvements and fixes.
The HTC mail app was pretty nice when I loaded the Hero rom on but I took it off since it ran to slow, is there a way to get just the mail app?
I tried out k9 and I like it and works pretty well...don't really care for the icon but that's something I can live with lol

Likely origins of the icon: link. The devs must be Doctor Who fans
Ah yea looks pretty similiar...works well though, much better than the default with my 4 other email accounts

Which is the best Twitter App for Android ?
Cuz i've been using Twidroid but it replys like From Twidroid, not in a reply to someone .
So which one is the best ? i want one that replys the tweet from a user .
twidroid ( the best we got as of now...)
i like twidget the best
IMO iTweet is the best then twidroid after that.
I get all my updates and has all the features you need in a tweeter app.
but if you dont want to buy one I would go with twidroid.

+1
iTweet
Hands down the best, at the moment.
I wish we had a reliable widget. I've tried Twidget numberous times, but it failed to update properly. Maybe they've got it fixed by now. If so, Twidget was showing lots of promise.
Twit2Go FTW
I discovered Twit2Go when I was looking for a Twitter app, and really really like it. It's very lightweight (compared to things like Twitteride and Twidroid), and a nice Android UI (unlike ITweet, for example), and has all the usual goodies (TinyURL support, reply/DM notifications, etc.).
Strongly recommend giving it a try.
HTC Peep Lol or Itweet if you want to pay. Twidroid = best free twitter app no doubt.
I like Twitterride because it's the only one I could find that would distinguish new tweets from old.
I prefer Twidroid myself.
itweet is the best one
i tried iTweet and i like it im gonna keep using the 3 for a few days and decide, thx guys cuz i didnt know this iTweet app .
Twidroid is nice, but sometimes it shows tweets from months ago. No idea why.
ITweet FTW!!!
should have made this a poll....
If i could get peep i would on a non Hero, however i use TwitterRide , use to use Twidroid however never would update on its own i woudl have to click refresh. TwitterRide is getting like this now, wish i could find one that would update every 5-10 mins on its own. . . . . . .
Twidroid.
Best twitter client hands down.
I gotta give my vote to Twidroid. Amazing app. I used Twidget for a while, because it's one of the few that actually constantly update (it runs in the background, like Twidroid has the option to) and is nice and lite. Twidroid then picks up everything else as a fully-functional Twitter client. I like it better than the Twitter homepage itself!

That's basically how I see them too.. Twidget is an awesome lightweight client for keeping up. I also do most updates from it. I have Twidroid installed but not configured for background checking so I can use it when needed for photo posting, DMs, etc. Both excellent apps, just different strengths.

Hello All
I have just stumbled across an app called Vodafone Application Update (on the Market), although this does not appear to be an official Vodafone app (at least not a UK one anyway).
The app itself sits in the Taskbar and monitors your social networks pulling into a combined inbox similar to the Motoblur with the exception of the inbox.
I have found it pretty useful and wondered if anyone had heard of it before.
I cannot vouch for its authenticity or as to whether it works on other networks (as I'm on Vodafone anyhow)
As its a free software not a paid for app if someone can tell me how to extract an apk from my phone I'll post a link for those that cannot see it on the Market.
Thanks to XDA for making my whole Android experience better
Just trying it on T-Mobile UK, seems to be working so far, will update in a moment. Nice find
EDIT: Sure seems to work for facebook atleast, I don't use any of the other services. Awesome .

Good news if it had a widget it would be awesome
also working perfect on US Tmobile G1. Thanks.. never would have known about it.
Pure messenger widget, just a few posts down from this one seems to be a good widget interpretation of what you're looking for.

apps dont slow down phones...they eat up memory and wear down batteries.
Use task managers and kill widgets to control these memory leeching, battery eating apps, and your phone will speed up.
well im looking for the app that has "im yahoo n msn messenger" i saw it in one of my friend rom but cant find it... where can i download it.. i remember android had it but cant find it...
I'd like it as well
i think the name of the app was "androind client... forgot the rest...
Android 1.5 had that built in. 2.1 doesnt. I'd use Meebo. Thats the only halfway decent IM client out there for Android.

eBuddy does Facebook chat along with all the others all in one. Might check it out.
the app is Android IM... it is in Enomther's latest ROM. its ok, but use meebo, its much better and has more functionality.. i wish digbsy would make an android client... that would by far be the best.
attached!!! have fun!!
One week for today I'll be getting my gTab and I am new to Android in general. Are there any IM clients that play well with the gTab?
Scott
Honestly... I have yet to find an IM app that doesn't play well. I should also state: that is if you're looking to chat only. Getting into video is a whole other can of worms.

Just straight up IM, no need for video at the moment. New to android so I don't know the popular IM apps at the moment, should probably just search the market and see what is well rated.
Scott
For chat they all seem to work well.
I like imo.im the most.
It just looks better to me,
Its one of the newer im apps.

Personally i use ebuddy which incorporates all my gmail accounts yahoo accounts facebook chat accounts and etc.
I forgot about ebuddy. I tried it before when I was running stock with enhancement pack and it wouldn't work for me. Now im on tnt lite 4.2 and haven't tried it again.
I went with Trillian; I'd been using the PC version for ages, and love the elegance of what they have on Android. YMMV.
I just use google voice. Click on your contact's cell phone number (the smiley face to the right) and text away. You have to set up google voice once and you are good to go. Do a search on this forum for the thread on this topic

seconded.
i've tried ebuddy, im+ and a few others and Trillian seems to offer the cleanest UI in my opinion.
This is a tablet optimized reader and I'm loving it more than pulse on my Xoom

No affiliation here - I bought NewsR and love it.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Just bought it an already in love. Wish touchdown would adopt this simple interface.

I would agree. Have been using this for a couple of days and has replaced newsrob as my go-to Google reader app. Love the interface and new features are coming quickly.

I think it needs to be a lil faster fetching feeds and I hope they offer a White on black theme.

Offline for Newsr?
I would agree that Newsr is definitely onto something, however I think its missing one key thing which is offline capability (download/read/sync when online).
Can anyone think of a reason this couldn't be accomplished?

This was my exact question I had before buying. Thanks for clarifying.
This can be done as NewRob already does this on Android phones. I would like to see offline capabilities that downloads the entire article and not just the RSS feed blurb with a link. I have seen other RSS apps be able to do this.
considering that i've been using the official google reader app cause that's what i'm used to on my N1, this is a huge improvement, consider it bought.
Bought it last night. Awesome!
Just bought. Very nice interface and quite snappy. Some room for improvement but snappy none-the-less.
I agree and would like to see some offline component to it but that is not a dealbreaker for me - i'll always have 3G (hopefully soon 4G) coverage but for those with Wi-Fi only tablets that will likely be a must have part of this app.
Kuddos to the developer for optimizing this for Honeycomb. Now I get to ditch Pulse!!
You should all email the dev (Chris Stewart) - his email is in the app description or support info. He's been very responsive and seems to be open to suggestions/feedback.
I got in at 1.0 and it's improved very fast since then already.
I'm using an app called Feedly. works great, has a magazine like layout and its free

Doesn't seem optimized in any shape for the XOOM. Do you have a beta or something?
no beta, here is a link to the app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.devhd.feedly&feature=search_result
I'm Chris, and I'm the developer for Newsr. Really glad to see the positive remarks throughout this thread. Glad you're all enjoying the app and I definitely have more coming for it, and additional Honeycomb-optimized apps. If you have any suggestions, feedback, etc, don't hesitate to email me: [email protected].

Offline is definitely something I'm working on for a future release. It's coming...
Gizmodo posted a list of RSS readers today and forgot Newsr so I gave it a shout out in the comments since I like and use Newsr much more than the other two they mentioned for Honeycomb.
http://gizmodo.com/#!5791676/not-dead-yet-the-ultimate-guide-to-rss-in-2011
Thanks for the support, I appreciate it!
I actually just pushed out version 1.10 tonight which includes a few highly requested features:
-- Token authorization uses any Google account now, not just gmail.com and googlemail.com accounts.
-- Can now view starred articles in the label view.
-- Implemented the native “Share” feature of Google Reader.
Plenty more coming, so stay tuned!
I am honestly thinking about getting this. I have never use google reader before, but I have used pulse reader...And I have to say that this looks like it has a cooler and overall easier to understand UI then pulse does.
Another video Overview on Newsr. Little more in depth. I think its great.
