pwi file reader or opener - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi all.
I need to open a pwi file (pocket word) in my pc. The file (about 50Mb) has been created in my kaiser and have inside a audio registration (this is the reason of his lenght).
When I try to open it in the kaiser, Note program destroy it. I can see only a blank note file without audio registration. But I know that this registration is in it. I think that the file my be corrupted but it is very important.
Please, someone can help me pls?
Tnx

Help setting up push mail got so far but hassles on certific

Hi,
Setting up my SBS2003 for push mail on my Qtek 9100.
I have been following the Microsoft setup white papers.
(Step-by-Step Guide to Deploying Windows Mobile-based Devices with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 )
Trouble is the certificates seem to be causing the problem.
I copy across the only one found in my server clientsapps/sbscert directory ,( its called SBSCert.) to my qtek and it wont run.
It says cannot access certificate.
I tried loading the spaddcert file then adding the certificate and it says not a valid certificate.
CAn someone help me on this?
thanks,
Dave.
Hi,
Check out http://www.msexchange.org for MS Exchange information.
They have lots of information of MS Exchange server stuff. This site is mainly for the XDA/MDA related stuff.

I'm going to assume you've already created a certificate (easiest way is through the Connect to Internet Wizard)
On your SBS server run mmc from the Run line. Then go to File - Add/Remove Snapi-n. Click Add and add the Certificates snap-in.
Then open the Certificate snap-in. Drill down to Trusted Root Certification Authorities\Certificates and locate the certificate that you created. Right click , All Tasks, Export. Export to der encoded binary (the first one). Now copy that file to your device, execute and all should be well!
Hope that helps.
thanks but i'm not sure now what I'm looking for.
Anybody who has it working can you provide me with some help.
You need to export the certificate you created and then install it on your device.
To export:
Open internet explorer and then click,
Tools - internet options - content - certificates - trusted root certificates
locate the one you created, highlight it and then click export.
Follow through the instructions, and export it to a location where you can find it.
After you've exported it copy the exported cert' to your device.
Finally on your device navigate to the certificate and click on it.
Well it seems to be working at the moment.
Dr Puttingham has been a great help.
Just trying to sort it out so that I can turn SSL back on but other than that its working just fine.
Introducing the SslChainSaver
Here's a GREAT lil util I found that makes this all just a little easier!
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/08/11/sslchainsaver.aspx
I ran into this as I'm writing a cab will install my self gererated cert from my customized Extended ROM along with my many registry tweaks, etc and discovered that it's not that easy!
I am having a similar problem. My work's certificate is issued internally. I used Sslchainsaver to get the root.cr file and installed it on my T-Mobile MDA (on Cingular network). When it attemps to syncronize I get the following error:
You have an incorrect SSL certificate common name in the Host Name field. For example, you may have entered www.tailspintoys when the common name on the certificate is actually www.wingtiptoys.com. Make sure the server name is entered correctly.
Support Code: 0x80072F06
Any help would be really appreciated since I have been trying to get this to work for quite sometime now.
Thanks
@azaouk - my rule of thumb has always been to name this with the Fully Qualified Name (FQN) of my mx record. For instance say my domain is www.whyeatme.com. I would typically create a "A" record for "mail.whyeatme.com" or such. Then I create my self gernerated certificate with that same name. It's telling you what it's complaint is ...

Hi all !
So... how about assuming I didn't create the user certificate yet...
The thing is, I already had to do that for one user, worked fine, created a user.cer file, and already have a mobile.cer file, if I put them both on a windows mobile device, mails arrive from the exchange server.
Now I have to do this again, but I don't remember how I did it and however I did this all alone last time, it seems I'm unable to retreive that path again...
So, I'm not sure we are talking about the same method here, I do this very very simple, but I'm sure someone here can tell me how I just get that cer file for a specific user.
Thanks in advance !!

Reading/Editing Notes (PWI) files on the PC

Sorry if this has already been covered but I didn't get any hits searching for it.
When I used WM5 I could always read and edit NOTES from the PDA on the PC using MS Word, I just double clicked the file and it opened in Word as an INK file, but since upgrading to the Kaiser this is no longer possible with a double click, I now have to open word first then open a .PWI file?
Does anyone else have this problem?
Sorry if this is covered by another thread. My search did not give me those data.

I could never read notes in my PC except by putting them on the main memory and syncing to Outlook.
I discovered I can copy the notes (PWI) to a folder in my old PC (XP) and double-click them to be open in Word, but nothing happens.
On my new PC, (Vista) they are unrecognised, directly, so the type of file is not supported by any app.
But today I could open a TextMaker empty session (I use SoftMaker office for working in my PPC and also have the version for PC) and then I dropped into it one of my notes stored in a folder in my PC. It opened well and I could read it. I think it does not support images, as I had some problems to read/copy/paste info from a blank note which had a small text and a drawing.
If this works, this helps not to synch the notes from a storage card, but for reading them if they're copied to the PC.
You can make ActiveSync automatically convert .pwi files to .txt or .rtf by opening ActiveSync, and selecting Tools > Advanced Tools > Edit File Conversion Settings. In the 'Device to Desktop' tab, select 'InkWriter/Note Taker/Notes Document', click Edit, and change the format to .txt or .rtf.
amikula THANKS to your post I finally solved my problems!! thanks!!!
Could you please tell us aswell how you solved the problem. Thx
just as amikula said! Thanks great solution.Thank you!!!
Hey all. I have changed to a HTC phone that doesn't have .pwi files. I still need to read/convert my HTC HD .pwi files. I am on Windows 7. Anyone?

How to Change File Associations in WM 6.1

I recently upgraded my Acrobat Reader without uninstalling the former version. Everything worked fine. Then I uninstalled the old version and it seems to have taken the file association for PDFs along with it. While looking for a solution, I found a lot of complicated schemes to modify the registry (no thanks), install a tweak program and do it from there (better, but why complicate things), etc. But it was actually quite simple. So for anyone who's in a similar predicament...
Here's how to set a file association in WM 6.1:
1. Open File Explorer and find a file of the type you want to associate to an app.
2. Hold down the stylus on the file name for a couple seconds (til you get the context menu) and choose "Open with program..."
3. Choose a program from the list on the top part of the resulting window, then check the box labeled "Associate selected Program with this file type."
4. Hit Open.
5. You may get a message to overwrite current association if there was a previous app associated with the file type, chances are you'll want to go ahead and overwrite so it will remember the association you prefer.
You're done!
This works great if you want to open some multimedia files with one program and others with a different program. For instance, I couldn't get Media Player to open my .AVI files, but it was the default association, now I set .AVIs to TCPMP and all is working great! ( I know TCPMP is one of the few programs that lets you set the association, this is just an example - and it was actually easier doing it as described above!)
That menu option's not there
I've got 6.1, but "open with program" is not a choice that pops up. I looked under properties, and it's not there either. Are you using a 3rd party file explorer?
You need File Explorer Extension, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421723&highlight=file+explorer
Nice!
Thanks for the tip!
I have a several different media players, and this is just what I needed to choose which program opens what file type.
Thanks again!
Thanks guys, really good software that complement very well the unfinished software of Microsoft..
Great for removing the "DocsToGo" association!
I was really getting sick of being unable to open email attachments because I didn't choose to shell out for the DocsToGo bloatware on my AT&T Fuze. Great fix!
Thanks!!!!
MadSci
Thanks for the software but there is a problem
The file explorer is amazing. But I am facing a problem. I have an HTC Touch 3G running windows mobile 6.1. When I use this file explorer to change the file association, it successfully changes. However, the icon of the program it is associated with doesn't appear on the left of the file name. Only the windows icon appears to the left of the file name. However whenever I click on the file, it does open with the required software/player. But because the icon of the file type it is associated with does not display, it becomes slightly confusing for me to make out with which software will it open.
Thanking you in anticipation for the help!!
thanks a lot
FExplorer ext is a gr8 tool. It solved my file association problem for .jpg files.
Thank a lot again.
I tried to install FEE on my WM6.1 smartphone (non touchscreen) but it gives an error and won't install saying it's not designed for my device.
Has anyone found a way to install it, or found a similar free product to change file extensions?

Schap's Advanced Config can also change file associations, as can Total Commander.

Thanks, I'll have a look at those.
There's any way to Vito SMS chat instead default WM app for SMS managemment ?
Thank you
very very thnx to you
still not the correct icons ?
same as @sahilhshah.
Changing the file associations in either described way is working fine. But the icons are still the windows system icons.
Interestingly viewing the icons from the files which are not corrected to the specific program icon, in the taskmanager, I can see the right icons.
Any ideas?
Using Total Commander for Pocket PC u can change file association and file icon as well, it will be coresponding to specified program. Just give it a try
(That's my firsth post on this great forum )

Transfering .pdf files over to the HD7

I've been tearing my hair out wondering how the heck am i gonna do this. Syncing via bluetooth through my laptop doesn't work (says hd7 wont accept file transfers) I tried uploading to gigasize.com, no luck, and I've tried emailing, but there's n email system big enough.
Anyone have ANY idea how i can transfer random files over for the HTC HD7?
SkyDrive is an option. Cloud-based storage free with your Live account (hotmail, msn, live)
This link will help with that.
http://social.answers.microsoft.com...7/thread/56adcec6-08ce-4d86-aa67-27dda1433fa0
thank you, I will give it a try! much appreciated
didn't end up working, the file i have is 100MB, the limited space on skydrive is 50MB =[ close but no dice, are there any other altenatives? can i bluetooth from one phone to the other?
My SkyDrive Account has 25 gigs?
I pay no money.
Ahhh. Individual file limit of 50megs.
yeah..... i MIGHT MIGHT have to truncate my class textbook into two halves =[
Okay I figured it out halfway if anyone is interested, I've used the site http://www.bonpoo.com/ ..... there you can upload it and email the link to your hotmail for your HD7.... then you can download it via browser, i just don't know how to KEEP it on the HD7 =[
This works on HTC HD7 have not tried on other devices
What we want to do
Read .pdf files on WP7 Device, without emailing them to yourself.
What you will Need
- Chevron Unlocked Hd7
If its not check this or the ultimate solution that worked for me this last Entry on this page quoted by me. At the same time make sure you Apply this to prevent it from relocking
- TouchExplorer installed on the Device.
If you don't have it get it from here
- Registry key on your Desktop to Enable Mass Storage.
http://theunlockr.com/2010/11/29/how-to-enable-usb-storage-on-windows-phone-7/
- Zune installed on Desktop
- .pdf files which you want to read on WP7
How to do it
1. Connect your Phone to Desktop using USB Cable.
2. Zune Starts and Sync Completes.
3. Close Zune.
4. Copy your .pdf files to the root of Storage (MyComputer\HD7\Storage)
5. Disconnect Phone from Desktop.
6. Start TouchExplorer on Device.
7. Go to "My Device/My Documents/Zune/Content/0400/01 or 02"
8. Here you will find your .pdf files with the name of 8.z or something .z extension.
9. Rename them to YourFileName.pdf.
10. Now Copy them to "My Device/Applications/Data/BC4F319A-____-____-____-____________/Data/IsolatedStorage.
11. Exit TouchExplorer.
12. Run Adobe Reader, and find your Pdfs listed there.
Hope it helps everyone here. Best of Luck and let me know if you face any issue.
Dont be a stranger to Thanks Button if it helps you.
Phone's unlocked and everything's working.... I ran into one problem though, when I transfer files over, it says "cannot copy (file name) "the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"
any way you can help me figure this out?

Hi!
Try to set you screen lock to never:
Settings -> lock & wallpaper -> Screen time-out: never
Than try again the steps described in post #9.
After finished set back screen lock time-out to original value to preserve battery power.
Regards,
Cina.
Doesn't seem to work, but thank you for the insight =] I really appreciate everyone's help but i think i've come to terms with just simply giving up.... I'm reinstalling windows 7 and XP so i might jump back up and try it once more
You can try to e-mail the files to yourself or you can try other online storage services
Although the methods previously suggested might work, and they do with several limitations, I wouldn't advise them as they will either leave your files lost in the middle of hundreds of e-mails or pile your office hub in a completely unorganized fashion.
My solution is much better; simply create OneNote notebooks, organized anyway you see fit, insert your files and sync them to SkyDrive.
When you sync them with your WP phone you will have your pdf files organized and always available.
Never tried this method with any file larger than 50Mb but with smaller ones works like a charm
Cheers

[Q] Excel & Word App?

Does anyone know a good app I can download view and edit Excel or Word files on? I have tried:
OfficeSuite
E-cell xls
Word To Go
I have attached a copy of the Excel file I am trying to manipulate on the G-Tab. I am able to open, view, and edit the file (well sort of edit). If you view the file file via Excel on you computer you will see it has "check boxes" but I am not able to see them on any of the above mentioned apps. Does anyone know of an app that I can do this with?
The form is being created for use in a physicians' clinic, to help avoid the the clutter of paper and eligible writing.
I was not able to upload (size limit) the Word file I want to be able to edit. But this file is filled with "drop down" menus which do not show up when opened on the G Tab.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dave
That Excel sheet is full of Windows Forms controls. Since those are ActiveX controls I doubt *very* seriously you are going to find any programs on the G Tablet that will allow this file to work correctly. ActiveX, if you aren't familiar with it, is extremely Windows-centric. And at this point, fairly out dated.
