Hello
I have recently experienced quite unpleasant problem with my G1 - basically, every time I receive a phone call or text message while listening to the music, the music player shuts itself down and when I open it again, it doesn't seem to play any music (even tho it looks like the song is actually playing, you cant hear anything).
Can anyone advise what could cause it? I've tried 3 different music players, every one of them appear to be subject of the same problem ;/
most likely because you've activated a sound notification on sms and call..ringtone obviously
Hmm, it happens in both silent mode and normal mode, if that's what you meant.
Any audiomods?
Hmm, none that I'm aware of, I've only even installed JesusFreke rom and that was it.
I'm fine with the music being paused when a call comes in, but it really bugs be that it stops (and then resumes) for everything: SMS, Calendar, E-Mail, general notifications, etc.
I guess Android simply can't handle multiple audio streams at the same time. We need PulseAudio for Android
Have you guys tried meridian from the market? Its all i've used since i got my g1 so cant comment on other music players, but when im listening to music and i get a call it stops, but as soon as i hang up it picks back up right where i left off... as far as text messeges and the such goes, the notifaction sounds right over the music and it never stops playing.
Im currently on soulife roger, but ive had jf when it was 1.0, dudecake, dude roger, cyanogen, and so on it they all reacted the same way. Ive also had stock and audio mods and all still same as far as this issue...

I use DoggCatcher to listen to my netcasts, there's no other app like that on the market. Though if you say it might be app's problem, I'll ask the dev about it.
Has anyone gotten this problem using HTC Music?

I've tried it with default music app, and it does not have that problem. So I guess it's app specific. I already got in touch with the developer of DoggCatcher.
Quick update:
I have just found out that it only happens when the headphones are plugged in. ANy idea why? :<

I just upgraded to 2.2 for the Captivate using the ODIN3, and everything is working great except sound through the headphone jack.
Music, navigation plays through the headset, but phone calls and notifications don't.
How am I supposed to hear them with music blearing over it?
Anyone know of a fix? I checked the settings and I don't see an option for it.

Search would have told you that this is a known issue - 2.2 is Beta.
There is no known fix.

You are lucky, mine doesnt let me even hear media or music thru the 3.5 mm!
???
I have 2.2 installed and don't have any issue with the headset.
Both music and phone calls work great.
BTW I'm using the stock hands free, the one that came with the phone.
My bluetooth works fine, it's the headphone jack I'm talking about.
i am having the same issue after upgrading via odin3. I also have to click the home button to clear a read text message or else it reminds me again.

No voice out of the "3.5 mm"?
Yeah that was a LOLWUT post. And that's been on the phone since I've had it, it's intentional, I think. Because you have to press the back button to clear the notification, because when you click on messages again, it stays at the same spot and the notification stays in the title bar because you didn't clear it.
i hear sound but i dont hear voicalls or notifications. if im listening to music with my sony headphones and someone calls i dont the ring through the headphones or the voice. i have to use the handset

when i was on 2.1, if i clicked a message from the notifiaction bar it would bring to the thread and mark it as read. froyo is not doing that. is there a way to fix it
IDK what 2.1 you had.
The one I had, I had to press back to clear the notification. It still does the same thing on 2.2.
It could be a bug, it is a beta.

I missed reading that in the notes.
I've searched quite a bit and never ran accross anyone mentioning it.
My headphones play music, notifications, everything just great, but in call volume is terribly low (NOT on headphones, but when I route the aux cable to my stereo in my car)
I had the issue initially in 2.1 from stock ROM, but managed to fix it somehow, and I can't figure out how. I tried all the evice level fixes, eve 6 different audio control apps off the market.
My typical setup is that I never use earbuds or headphones. I plug the aux cable into my headphone jack and run it sraight into my car CD player in aux mode. It plays everything at normal levels EXCEPT in call volume. If this is a bug, I'll just have to deal with it then.
Hi everyone. I'm really freaked out. I have an N1 running CM6.1 stable and it's always been working fine. This morning though, my phone started playing this strange hawaiian-style music loop by itself and I have _no_ idea where it comes from. I've tried rebooting and it started playing again so I'm thinking I may have caught something.
I tried to look it up and haven't found anything. Has anyone else heard of such a thing happen to android phones before?
Were you plugged into the computer via USB when it happened? I know that if your ringtone was stored on the SD card and you are plugged into USB with mass storage enabled, the phone would play a ringtone from internal storage when you received a notification.
it's just a ringtone... are you sure you've not setup any app for services?
That sounds about right. Although I've never seen it happen before. Thank you very much!
This reminds me of a freaky incident with my phone.
I picked up my phone to go out and I hear my own voice saying, "Hello? Hello?".
I was pretty freaked out but had no idea what it was.
Then it happened again the next day.
And the day after. All around the same time, and all when I picked up my phone.
I eventually remembered I had tested a sound recorder app a while back, so my "Hello?" was recorded as a wav file on the sd card. When picking up my phone I would unplug the headphones, physically pulling out the plug triggered the 'play' as if the headphones had the remote that came with the phone. The music player then played the first file it found which was my test recording.
^-- this is freaking addictive O.O
It's when the strange voices start that you have to worry, especially if you don't have your phone!

It happens to my android phone too, and quite frequently i must say. i dont have any music app or anything to trigger that type of music. Its hawaian style and also there is this sound like someone is taking a picture! Its really weird but i've laughed it off until now. Has someone found any solution? Btw it happens to my friend too!
Strange music strikes again
Mine too. Android device.
I think it's solved. From the sms app. Did you received any strange sms earlier before this music start playing? I did and I think they are connected.
Hi, not sure what I have done but it is bloody annoying, I hope I can get some help.
I rooted my Tab a few weeks ago and it is working fine. I also downloaded 'Root Tools' a couple of days ago but am not sure if that is the problem, I have tried uninstalling it but it hasn't made a difference.
The problem I have is that every time I switch my phone on from a cold start I get this music playing, very loudly and I can't seem to stop it or find the track. I have to put the phone in silent mode to stop the music playing but when I come out of silent mode the music is still playing. Does this suggest it is a ringtone?
I go into my music player and play every single track but it isn't the one that is constantly playing. when I come out of the music player sometimes it stops.
Is their anything I can install that can stop this? A theme or something? Not sure but it is driving me nuts, lol.
I have done a virus check and it informs me the phone is clean.
I hope you have a better idea than me. Thanks for any help in advance.
Tried checking your notification sound settings? I had similar issue and found it was that.

thanks for reply. Where are the notification settings?
I got it to stop but not sure how. It is techno music that plays and plays but searching on the phone I can still not find it.
I'm glad it has stopped but would really like to know why. Could it have anything to do with a root app?
Hi all,
this one is pretty amusing at times, but mostly frustrating. So I have a this HTC One which was shipped with Android 4.1. Everything was great. Then I updated to 4.2 using the normal "check for updates" procedures.
Now, whenever I hang up or ignore a call, my MP3 starts playing. Systematically. Sounds like a bluetooth issue (most of my calls are dealt with through my bluetooth headset). I uninstalled the bluetooth app (Plantronics Voyager Legend UC), reinstalled, deleted and re-paired the device. No luck.
I can;t find anywhere a "playback" setting of any kind. Google-is-my-friend tells me I'm not the only one with that issue but so far, no solution.
If anyone has a clue, aside reverting to 4.1, I'd be grateful as this is quite embarrassing when you're in a meeting and you ignore the call... (good thing I got rid of my heavy metal MP3 files...).
Thanks,

I did get a chuckle on this one. The only suggestion I have would be to download a 3rd party music player, check it as the default player, and see if that helps.
Woops sorry buddy I didn't mean not to reply, just been busy. So yeah this is amusing at best. So I uninstalled all apps related to the headset, rebooted once more, and voila ! No more MP3.
As to why it ever happened in the first place, I'm as puzzled as you on that one.
Cheers though,
Well I spoke too early... randomly, after I hang up, there comes the music...
I considered slapping the phone on the wall but that's not very viable.
I went through all the settings for the phone, the music player, the bluetooth headset, I can't figure this one out.
Any ideas you want to throw at me, please do. Thanks,
I think I've been able to narrow it down. I think it only happens (but I have to confirm this) when the "car" application is on. However in the settings I can't see "resume music after a phone call" or something similar.
I think it's the "Car" application, however it's called, because the way the "play forward stop pause" buttons look similar to what's on the screen when the music starts playing... it's a long shot I know.
Do you allow your headset to be a control for the music player? If so, using the headset to hang up may well start the music playing.

quite possibly but where do you change that ? I couldn't find where...
Hi, just upgraded from my Galaxy Note to the z1 yesterday.
Very impressed with the phone so far, but I have encountered one strange problem that I can seem to find no other comments about.
When I connect a headset (the bundled one, specifically) and turn my phone to silent mode so I can enjoy my audiobook in peace without being bothered every time I get a new promotional email, the notification sound plays over and pauses my audio book.
It does this no matter whether I turn the phone to silent, vibrate, turn the ringtone and notification volume to 0, and whether or not I make these changes manually or allow the smart connect app to make them for me.
The strange thing is, it only plays the notification sounds when something is playing through the headset. When I'm sitting just using the headset as a handsfree then everything behaves as expected - if a notification comes in, the phone will vibrate, flash the notification led, but won't make a peep otherwise. But as soon as media is playing, the phone seems to make up its own mind to vibrate and play the notification sound even though I've put it on silent.
Am I the only one experiencing this bug, or, more surprisingly, am I the only one who finds it hugely irritating?
Can anyone else even confirm if this behaviour is normal or is there something bugged out?
Over 60 views and no one can even confirm if this is actually how the phone is meant to deal with notifications?
Yes, I think is just You. Anyway, you have to play with settings because there have to be the solution, if you do not that mean is how supposed to be. If you are Rooted maybe you can edit some notification so if they will not show up you will not listen the sound in the handset.
I've tried everything! On my other phones (used an htc desire hd and a galaxy note) once I had my phone on silent then I didn't get audible notifications whether I had a headset plugged in or not. On the Z1 though I can't seem to get rid of them. I only hear them when I'm playing music, I wouldn't mind if it gave me an audible notification if I just had my headset plugged in as a handsfree and wasn't listening to anything, but having my music interrupted is pretty annoying, and I still don't even know if it's just something stupid I'm doing or if that's just the way it is.
I'm not rooted, I don't really want to since it stops sky go from working, but if it can stop the notification headache I might be willing. Don't really want to install a custom ROM unless the camera performance is as good as stock either
Yeah, I get it too. Too lazy to check the player settings though so not sure if it is something in the player settings that is doing this

Good point, can be the player too.
haven't seen anything in the walkman or audible apps to turn this off and never had to do it on my previous phones. oh well, at least i know it's normal now, hopefully they fix it in an update. thanks.
