New file host!

Hello all, i thought I'd set up a simple free file host for you all to use as a thankyou for all the help all of you have given me and all the great ROMs and software that have been developed.
Just thought it was my turn to give something back

Sorry Mods I take my words back . It is only good after the bold and underline that is "no waiting" but the biggest problem is downloading. Even a small file in KBs cannot be downloaded because of errors. So I recommend not using it, stick to http://asapload.com.

If it is the file "Utilitiesico.lnk" then that is probably because it is not a valid file extension, as I'm pretty sure .ink is a shorcut file. Therefore it would be pointless to download it without the location the shortcut is directing you to it.

What is the d/l and u/l speed limits. I know it is based on what my connection will allow, but what is the sites maximum?

Yeh u were right it was the same lnk file. If I enclose it in a folder and make a compressed file then it can be downloaded. Guess I have to again take my words back, What the heck!!! What am I...... a 'blue monkey' munching on my words arghhh .

Hey u please explain the downloading and uploading limits to P1Tater as he is 'THE MOD' and if he likes ur speed (errrrrrr I have to take back my words) the speed of server then u will get all the XDians' at ur site. So get in touch with the people who own that server and ask from them the speed limits and let P1Tater know.

Im doing some investigation into the speeds now, so I'll get back to you.

[HELP] Rapidscare

Hey Guys
Unfortunately a lot of the downloads on XDA are linked to rapidshare which is a total nightmare. Megaupload is a breeze!
99 out of a 100 times I can't download a file from rapidshare.
The most common message I get is the one about the link that expired, even though I clicked on it a split second after it became available.
Download managers don't seem to be the answer either.
I searched all over Google for a solution to my problem, but no luck.
I am missing out on so many kool stuff 4 my diamond
Please, please, 4 the love of cheese, some1 help me....

Links don't become expired right they are available...
All the rapidshare links i've used recently work perfectly.
Maybe you are trying to download old content that none else deemed important enough to keep active. Keep looking around.
And of course download managers won't make an expired link work... if it did, ppl would be swarming to download all the removed copyright infringement content.

Are cookies allowed? maybe even handled by the firewall. Do you allow sessions? Also can be controlled in some firewalls.

Well, I have officially given up. I've already wasted several hours on this prob. I've accepted that it must be my stupid ISP. Yey South Africa!
Zeezee, I tried various cookie settings with both browsers and also disabled the firewall and anti-virus -> no go

Just my two cents, rapidshare is horrible. It's soooo slow. Also they should have worded the error message better. It's more of a time out. Did you try Google Chrome?

Are you trying to open more than one rapidshare window at a time? Try only having one window/tab, making sure you wait the time, download, and dont try clicking on another file until the download has finished.

jez83uk, I always take it 1 step @ a time with only 1 window or tab.

Need help with Warcraft and starcraft

Hello i recently installed Warcraft and starcraft it runs great but the screen turn to the other side of my sliding keyboard that normally when u slide it its on the left side when i put my phone in landscape mode the screen for those games its upside down, there is any way i can change it???

I have the same problems with all games (starcraft, heroes, age of empires...).

How did you install Starcraft to the phone? I would love to get that on my phone! Thanks.

This drives me crazy. Why do people post a problem they are having, and then reply to their post saying that they figured it out, but don't take an extra 10 seconds to type the solution. I have the same issue, so what did you do to fix it?
Edit for fix: Under the in game settings/options menu, check the box that says "full screen"

Ok this is driving me crazy I cant find any info on this anywhere it seems.
How did you guys go about getting starcraft on your phones? Are you just copying the whole directory from windows over to your phone and running the .exe? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about Warcraft but from my searching around I found Starcraft at pocketstarcraft. The site is in russian, but the links are in english, there's one that says Download or something to that nature and on the download page to the right in a box is a link that says it again.
That link brings you to a list of mirror sites that the file is available for download on. I haven't completed the downloaded because I'm currently having downloading issues but as soon as im back stateside I'll be checking em out just for kicks.
Also I'm new here so I can't link things, the russian website ends in a .ru not .com...

Any new word on this?

I have visited that site too but whenever I click on the download link it just reloads the page for me.

Edit: Ok it starts slow but then runs great but so far you can only play custom games. Any know if I can just move the campaign files from my comp to the same folders on the sd card?
And wheres the game options to set full screen? This version doesnt appear to have it.

Forums don't use html code. They use BB Code. When you go to edit your signature, look for the icon that looks like the earth with a chainlink on it. That's the hyper link button. Self explanitory from there really...

Look at bbcode(dot)org(front-slash)examples (this 8 post thing is bringing me down... I tried to actually give you the code, but anything having to do with a weblink or the URL tag makes the forum angry). From there click "Posting Images" and it will give you an example that should work.
So you will need the image hosted somewhere (xda photo albums... think I saw that in the user CP?), get the address of it, and put that in for the IMG tag, and then you use the URL after the = sign. You should be able to copy/paste that and just change the http parts inside to suit what picture and link you want.

I deleted the beginning and ending bracket and replaced it with the Astrix* symbol so you know what it looks like. The text that you are linking is in red, and should go between the URL code. Hope that makes sense.
Quick way of doing it is, highlight the text you want linked>once it is highlighted click on the insert link button> paste the url > and hit ok. Now the text that you are linking should be in the middle as above. Hope any of this makes sense, can get confusing.

Uh, well it's still not letting me. Still comes out as url string, no text link. But now I know how to do it. I'll check with a mod and see if permissions are set to no for me. At the bottom of the page it says they are all good. Thanks again guys.

On my Trophy, I do notice a significant speed improvement when I select the "Faster screen" option. What does this do differently? Is there any downside to using this option?

There is what you have to to to create a GameList.
Afterwards - Upload your "Covers" and "Roms" folders to a webserver, as well as the GameList.xml
Then just enter this URL in the Game Settings. Et volià.

Where is the .xap? I'm getting the .zip, but there is no XAP file inside it.

Thanks...tried the Gamelist and added some roms... I have now ready the 3 files you said....
but didnt understand what you really meant when you said of uploading it to a "webserver"....you mean ...megaupload/rapidshare...and that sort of?...
or...is it another thing?

You'll need a real webserver where you can access those files. So Rapidshare, e.g. is not an option.

Just wondering, what does the little Floppy Disc button do on the Individual Game page? It's greyed out for all of my games.

I have an issue with the GameList.xml.
I created it with "GameListCreator", then I redirected "GameList.xml", "Roms" and "Covers" with HFS (HTTP File Server), shut off the Firewall, pointed to the URL of the XML but I obtained the following error :
"Can't load the game List ! The format of the GameList is not valid !
NullReferenceException"
I tried your GameList.xml but I have the same issue.
So I tried to replace "Roms\" by "Roms/" and "Covers\" by "Covers/" in the xml file, unfortunately nothing change
