is this a hardware problem? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

recently phone screen is acting kinda weird...
well the problem is when i slide it up, only the 'X' tab or button only works. Other menus in the screen dont work like it should be...
when i slide it down works perfectly fine.
any ideas regarding the problem? Thnx.

since with the ba there is no actual sliding function, you know, the device does not really realize it was slid open unlike other sliding phones, i'd guess this would have something to do with the digitizer or the internal flex cable. maybe it gets strangled, when slid up, if i were you, i'd probably avoide sliding it, before the cable maybe gets cut or torn apart, you should very carefully open it up and look whether there is something strange or wrong with the inside of your device.
the procedure how to get inside the device you can find in the official service manual, to be found here: http://www.4pda-service.ru/netcat_f.../BLUE ANGEL/HTC_Blue_Angel_Service_manual.pdf

White screen after i replaced it???

i replaced my kaiser screen and the only thing that i got was a white screen so i was wondering if someone here had the same problem and got it working properly again.
Check on the Kaiser thread. Someone posted the same issue, and I think his screen connection wasn't tight, and it came loose.
don't think thats the problem connection seem all okay but if you could find the thread link please post it.

thx but no one posted a solution...
Provide more info...
did it turn white immediately after the screen install or did you try to install a ROM or what?
If white right away, then I have bad news for you... you will need to recheck your connections... all two of them..., I know it is pain in the Ars but it is needed.
If you attempted to install a ROM and then the white screen, then it is a Software issue. To track back, do a hard reset and see if you get somewhere. Look in the wiki section for hard reset instructions.
yeah it turned white immediately after i installed the screen like in the picture

but when i put my old screen back i get the same as the guy in this thread

i even putted a new flex cable in
Ribbon Connector
I had the same thing happen with my wizard a while back. Make sure the ribbon connection is in all the way. Assuming the ribbon on the kaiser has the same type of connector as the wizard, there is a piece of plastic that you lift up to unlatch the ribbon, make sure that bracket is open, then stick the ribbon in all the way (it went in farther than I would have expected) and then push the little bracket back down to clamp the ribbon down to the leads. Make sure the ribbon is perfectly perpendicular to the clamp also (not entering the connector crooked). And maybe check to make sure that you are routing the ribbon correctly, where it is not being pullde out or loosened when you open the screen. I'm pretty confident that your problem lies somewhere in that ribbon connection. Anyhoo, good luck. I'd take you some pics but I just gave my wizard to a friend & I don't wanna open my kaiser. Yet.
i have a similar problem, any ideas on this?

Please Help!! Landscape issues

Alright, so my problem is that when I slide out the keyboard to type something in, it won't actually rotate the screen. It isn't an issue with the ROM because I have flashed several different ones and it is the same no matter what.
What happens is that I slide out the keyboard, the screen freezes to whatever it was when I slid it out. I type whatever and when I close the phone it just loads up the text that I had typed in. So the keyboard itself works but I can't see what I typed until I close the phone again which is pretty inconvenient. Does anyone know of a way I can solve this? PLEEEAASSSE! help is much appreciated.
unfortunately it looks (almost 100%) like your ribbon cable between the circuit board and the screen needs replacing.
Your symptoms are EXACTLY what mine did. Then it got gradually worse and the screen ended up turning black on sliding it open.
I've replaced the ribbon cable, with some protection on the area that gets worn and so far the phone is fab again!
see this thread (yeah i know it's mine but it's certainly worked for me!)

obviously if your phone is under warranty it needs to go back, but once repaired it WILL do it again at some point. Terrible oversight in the design of an otherwise great handset.

Screen alignment problem

Hi all,
I recently bought a used X1, wich already had a custom OS (Christian's) installed.
It's an excellent device, though there is one thing that really pisses me off.
The screen alignment is off all the time. No matter how often i re-align, after a short while it always is a few milimeters of, especially on the top half of the screen. So, for example if i want to press a button, i have to press above or under it, else it doesn't work.
I already tried cleaning the edges of the screen, even with pressurized air. Didn't help though.
Is there any solution for this or have i just been ripped off by the seller of this device?
Btw, excuse my english .
Can anyone help me please?
I mean, i really love this phone. But the touchscreen issue makes it kinda useless to me.
Is there any fix for it or is it just the way it is untill i replace the screen?
Hard reset. Or re install the ROM
Make sure to take your time while aligning your device, get some very precise points in or it will throw it all off. If all else fails you can try re-installing, but that probably isn't the problem if realigning fails. Possibly a screen issue?
I hard-resetted (?) and reinstalled the os, didn't work though.
When i re-allign it's all ok, but if i go to 'notes' then, and draw a little, it quickly becomes mis-alligned again.
The line is sometimes drawn more then a centimeter below the stylus :S .
I assume this is not a software problem, perhaps the screen is broken?
Anyway, i'm selling it back to the previous owner...
when i had a problem similar to this it was my ribbon cable that had worn away with sliding the keyboard in and out.

X1 closes on any hit or shake

Well, I have a problem which makes the X1 practically unusable. Everytime I hit it with less or more power, or when I move the slider a bit faster, and even when I press on the slider in the opposite direction when closed (like from right to left) it turns off... I got it apart and cleaned every part of it, but there is no improvement.
I can't mention a certain moment in the past from where it started. All I can say is that I have dropped it twice and broke the plastic parts, but the problem appeared some months after, so this may not be the main cause. Also I took it apart once (before it started to turn off suddenly) because the screws that were supposed to keep the slider on it's place went out.
I used it for almost 2 years, but I don't have enough money for a new device (nor a second-hand one like HD2), so if you can even suppose what's the problem, please tell me.
Later Edit: Another thing I noticed after pressing each part of the X1 is that the problem is somewhere in the upper part (near the camera... I noticed it when I tried to pull the stylus and when I pressed the volume buttons...
I'll take the inside out again, now that I know in which side is the problem. I'm on my backup phone right now, so I have nothing to lose... I still think is something wrong with the battery contacts or somewhere near those, so I will check again... I'll tell you if I find something.
Looks like a flex cable problem.

I checked the flex cable, but nothing is wrong with it... It may not be well fixed on the mainboard, and it totally shuts down, not only screen/buttons problems...

Problem after screen replacement

I've got a replacement screen that my friend had in his house. Mine was broken (both the display and the digitizer, the latter was acting very weird). I did the replacement myself, and when I was finally done, I noticed something. The Touch Screen wasn't working (I could see the image but no input was recognized). I tried opening it and checking every single cable to see if there was anything wrong, but there was nothing looking broken or out of place. When I was going to test it, I noticed another very weird thing. It actually works if I keep the back of the phone off (not the back interchangable cover, I mean the back of the phone that is screwed in place). The problem is that this phone has a very annoying design that makes it so the Wi-Fi, Speakers, Camera and some other stuff don't function well with the back plate off, speacially the Wi-Fi.
I trully have no idea what is happening or what is causing the problem with the touch screen, and have no idea why the back plate makes the screen act funny. Can someone please help me figure this out?
Perhaps something in the digitizer's flex cable is shorting with the back panel. Try putting a layer of electrical tape between the flex cable and the back panel.
