I'm debating on making a UI ROM. This ROM would contain ALL the most popular UIs for windows mobile. I will try and customize the look of them if people want. Is anyone interested in this???
PS. Of course you know this may eat up a lot of storage memory. I'll try and minimize as much as I can.

Try the basic ones: iFonz+S2U2+S2P, Throttlelauncher+throttlelock, HS++, and of course, Manila!
Hmmm i was thinking more like FEWidgets, PointUI, SPB Mobile shell and TF3D. I'm really not a fan of throttle launcher cause its so freaking slow..
Depending on the performance.. I would love to give it a shot.
I would like to have:
Taskbar Icons,
Background for all Tabs,
Slider Icons,
New Icons set under Start - Like iPhone everything one size within a Sq template. (for WM6.5)
S2U2 cooked into the WM 6.1 ROM
If the ROM is smooth and stable with out any memory leaks and within acceptable RAM usage... I am sure a lot of people would love it.
My 2 Cents.
I would probably base the ROM on WM6.1 but I was going to put tweaks for the interfaces and some basic apps. This would be more of a Find ur UI ROM so u can test them all and to have them all optimized in one rom
I think this is a great idea, and would certainly be interested if it had a nicely set up PointUI with SenseUI suite (I've had issues with it running on my phone).
Throttlelauncher should be speedy enough on this device. It was quite fast on my old Herald, and that thing's ancient. I would probably prefer that there weren't any paid interfaces like Home2 and SPB, since not everyone has a registration for them.

From what i've seen Throttle launcher is slow and laggy on every device.. I can try it on the TP2 and make a decision. SPB mobile shell is like rated one of the top interfaces for Winmo so i can't leave that out. It gives the people who do use that interface the ability to have a customized ROM for it. I'm personally not a fan but have like 10 coworkers that hate tf3d and love spb.
How about Moto Homescreen or UL for that matter!
Check this thread out try editing the manila 2.6 and making a landscape version and using the latest 2.5/2.1 to try and get it working correctly.

I honestly don't believe that is possible but I can look into it. No one wants to share the Manila 2.6 Packages so there is nothing I can do there.
I'd like it but im sure it would be pretty hard to bundle all that together and still be able to hotswitch between the different today screens.

Well they are all like today plugins so you would switch between them the same way u add and remove today plugins...
Hi all fellow TP2 Users,
i have been doing my fair share of experimenting with all the custom roms available here on the XDA forums. i must say, i feel like i hit a gold mine by buying this phone and also finding this forum for support. however, i havent been able to find anyone on here that has built a custom rom that has both the Programs tab and the Footprints tab available in the rom. it would also be nice to have the twitter tab and manila tv player tab available as well. why cant these tabs all be incorporated into the rom and let us, the users, decide whether or not we wish to use them? its all about customization and user friendliness. someone please give it a try and lets see how far it flys or does it simply crash and burn.
also, anyone know where i can find a cab to add more squares to the home tab? being limited to 9 favorites of "anything" feels kinda restricting considering the capabilities of this phone!!
thanks in advance and any and all responses are encouraged on here and to my email.

Welcome to forums
There are several ROM´s with programs and footprints tabs
Just to mention one, look for Energy leo
If it´s not what you are looking for, the best way will be to contact a Chef and donate him asking your request
if u want those tab's, just use agent_47 latest ROM's
believe me, U wont regret
EDIT: oops a lil missunderstanding... was thinking about documents tab n footprints.
but still give Valkyrie a go
Isn't this because the footprints/twitter tab is a sense 2.5 tab and the programs tab is in sense 2.1? I think you'll get one or the other depending on which manila is in the rom your using...your home tab "favorites" essentially takes the place of the old programs tab

Ahh the documents tab...I've seen the screenshots but haven't yet looked around for any roms with it yet...I'll wait on nrg.
thanks for the tip on the NRG leo option. on another side note; even though im relatively new here i would like everyone to know that i am technically savvy and catch on very quickly. i can only hope that sometime in the near future i can contribute something of worth (besides a donation to a chef) to the forums and even possibly cook in the future. however, can anyone enlighten me on the "leo" "photon" differences in NRG's roms. if he has stated it, i mustve just overlooked it. also great props go out to his xmas theme and am gonna try his dusk theme soon.
i also wish to extend a great bow and offer up some kudos to two pump chumps roms as well. his roms are snappy and i love his choice of preinstalled features and games! these two chefs need to collaborate on a rom together! THAT would b awesome!!

not a big fan of being limited to only 9 "squares+" for shortcuts. waiting for a cab to add more or bring back the programs tab.

Leo/Photon are his rom versions with different Manila (HTC's Custom Homescreen) versions cooked in. Leo has Manila 2.5 (with footprints, documents, twitter, and is portrait mode only) and photon has Manila 2.1 (has the programs tab, that card styled contacts tab, etc, works in portrait and landscape). See the screenshots in his threads to see most of the "layout" differences.
oh and dusk is not nrg's theme, he's just cooked it into his roms so you don't have to fuss with installing it...

I would like to say yes, but i haven't got the focus and so far wp7 has proved to be very picky about what we can change in the rom, therefore making very difficult to test, never the less i will do some research about it.
as for other request, the plan is to also release a build with other languages one we get them
Regards
faria.
nice work faria , cool to see some more Tango rom's here.
let us make all happy
Sorry, but I refuse to use these ROMs with butt-ugly themes pre-installed. You don't mix the flat nature of Metro with these silly glassy backdrops. I'd suggest you keep the look default and emphasise the ability to use custom themes.

Here's the thing - what kind of value do you think you are adding to the device by skinning it? You're providing an uglier, fragmented UI - things that Android OEMs are hated for.
Didn't mean to offend you personally, but all these custom ROMs I'm checking out are stuffed with bloat. If you go back to the roots with Windows Mobile or Android, custom ROMs are to get rid of the clutter. I don't see why Windows Phone tweakers think they should do the opposite.

Thanks for the feedback, the idea is to have a black backdrops but so far I had no success I changing the font color.
In the same note, I refuse to to wear pink trousers! Just because my wife likes it I m not forced to wear them. I will explain reasons behind the theme later on.Have a nice day.

Here is the reason behind the theme…..
The theme is part of a bigger project to customize all the icons in the rom , this will look great with a black backdrop/accents and will gives us better battery due to the nature of the screen.
As you may know , or not, using the same theme colour and accents renders the highlighted letters invisible, so we need to change the color of the font,so far we have been unableto do so plus at the moment if you try to cook a custom theme into the rom it simply breaks the unsigned apps unlock rendering unsigned apps useless .
You're providing an uglier, fragmented UI - things that Android OEMs are hated for.

Whats the point then? Lets just use the carrier rom! What do you expect? Different oems different skins etc,if it really bother people they should get an iphone.
Really… let not confuse things here, this is one device alone, neither m I using a different framework for the theme, this is not Htc sense VS Touchwiz, So In theory you can flash any update into my rom provided its is the same version without breaking anything.
In windows mobile chefs integrated apps to save space but users could not remove them, but guess what pretty much every app in my rom can be uninstalled by the user plus we don’t have limited space on our devices as windows mobile devices did.
All we are doing is trying to better our devices but its is early days, and we just started scratching the surface and I for one had enough of flat metro theme after a year stuck with it.
In the end the choice is yours.
Regards
Faria
I will personally deal with all the people who FORCE others to use their ROM
But if it's free to use and free NOT to use, I really can't see what's wrong then
Keep up the good work people, the things are cooking up for Omnia7 these days and it's nice to see it.

Custom ROMs allow for tweaks not possible with a carrier ROM - examples being a higher number of apps shown in the task switcher, and a full unlock. I think it's very hard to say that either of those tweaks will be bad for a user of a custom ROM. The same cannot be said about skinning Windows Phone. Also, Windows Mobile wasn't purely about saving space, it was about optimising the ROM to run better and nicer.
If you'll take any advice from me, remember this: you are never going to get away from Metro on Windows Phone. The apps you use will have it. There will be underlying bits of UI which you will be unable to skin. I will guarantee that you will end up creating something that is neither beautiful in the way Sense or iOS can be, nor industrial like Metro.
If you read reviews of Android devices, you'll see that often the manufacturer skins that OEMs provide do offer extended functionality that can be useful. However, the UI changes and custom launchers are almost universally received poorly. Ever wondered why Microsoft isn't allowing any manufacturers to skin the UI? Hint: it's not just them being control freaks.

I like a lot of things about the ROM. I'm not going to get angry if Faria doesn't keep things stock, I simply won't use it as you say. However, I think the concept of providing a semi-skinned ROM is a bad move by default. In fact, trying to skin Metro at all is a sign that you don't understand good design and UI. I don't mean to offend Faria or anyone else, but you'll never get your skin to fully extend into third-party apps and other experiences. Hence, you will always be fragmenting the interface by trying to introduce your own skin.
Sorry if I've offended anyone here, but good design is something that Microsoft has lacked for a long time. I feel like Metro is their break.

Anyway, for people like yourself ,i im working in a cab that can restore the rom skinned items to default, also im about to finish a clean version of the rom.

Regardless, I wish you the best in your endeavour. It's ambitious, I'll give you that. I can see how your skin will be nice if it's fully implemented, most of my uncalled-for bashing was related to the co-existence of conflicting design languages - either is fine by itself, but when combined they don't work.
I'm worried that you're going to run into heaps of restrictions (ie. how the start screen background is a solid colour). If you somehow get this thing working, hats off to you!
Fix Omnia 7 Bluetooth issue?
My Omnia 7 currently gets stuck at searching for bluetooth devices, does this rom solve this?
This is, IMHO, the best Omnia 7 Tango ROM out there.
Everything works and looks great. Battery life is fantastic too. A lot better than the Mi7ROM which is currently doing the rounds.
Thanks for your hard work. Looking forward to the next version (if there is one).

This is an unqualified comment, because mi7ROM isn´t "doing the rounds" here. mirolg was one of the first cookers after DFT has released the first custom rom. Also he was the first who cooked in the HTC drivers.
How this rom could be "a lot better" than other roms ? All available roms are only dumped. With all respect but the cookers are only replacing packages or adding packages from different builds or other custom roms...
Next time remember your thanksmeter before you post unqualified comments.
