Hi,
I am using a java mail client which handles encrypted mails. Its a bit slow so I wonder which ROM is supposed to have the best java performance or if there is a way to improve the java performance of my Dutty WM 6.5 R9 ROM by installing another JVM?
BR, Jens
It seems that you are already using the fastest (in general) JVM, that is JBed build 2009XXXXX. There is not much you can do...

Hi All,
Long time reader first time poster.
My company is currently using the Dopod 838 pros for a mobile web app we are developing.
Unfortunately (well deneding on which way you look at it ) but we ordered 50 Dopod 838 pros but they could only fill have the order so we received 23 kaisers insted.
Problem with the Kaiser is that it has IEMobile 7.6 which does not handle AJAX as well as IEMobile 6.12 which comes with the Dopod 838pros.
Is there ANY way I can cook flash or downgrade IE mobile in this rom? or does anyone know of a CAB or Rom anywhere which will help me with this - it is driving me crazy and its critical

What is the symptom that the later version of PIE gives?

Basically I am trying to run a database online based on the ASP.Net makers generated software.
www.hkvstore.com/aspnetmaker
When I go to click save or cancel on a form - on the Dopod it works fine, on the Kaiser - it wont let me click on it. I have had a ASPX programmer look into it and its because the Kaiser Version handles the functionality different.
Do I need to install AJAX upgraed/ java upgrade for IE on the kaiser or something?
download Opera Browser doesn't help? Maybe Netfront Browser? Did you try those.
I am going to guess that opera will do it fine - but it costs...
Havent heard of an asp patch that will fix PIE.
Opera may be the only way to go... just frustrating
Anyone think installing a 838pro rom onto the kaiser would be a good idea hahah *clutches at straws*
Have tried the other browsers but found them clunky - i still prefer pocket IE for general surfing...
A mobile version of Firefox is about to come out, that (combined with Netfront) very well could force Opera to be free in the not too distant future; maybe even Firefox itself could run the database...
It IS very frustrating that PIE is so picky about things. I've noticed it through the years too, but let me qualify that: i don't program interfaces for it, I just have used it to surf the web over the years.
Good luck!
AJAX fully supported in PIE & has been for quite some time, befroe wm2003se I believe. How are you handling the java?

I dont know - is there a java update/ fix? I am assuming java is turned on - everything looks fine - its just the onclick/ submit function or something not working on the kaiser.
Is there a way to improve the graphics on topaz. After upgrading to Stock WM 6.5 my TF3D is much slower and graphics on other pages are also slower. is any one else having this issue? If anyone has a fix to this please let US know.
If a cooked ROM is not an option, search for registry settings to improve performance. They're all over the internet
wm6.5 sucks. Nothing interesting. CE home - Sucks
wm6.1 is much faster. tweaks can't do wm6.5 fast as wm6.1
I patch me qtek s110 and diamond 2 to wm6.5 and then rollback to wm6.1
of cause new sense is good! but how can I install it on wm6.1 rom?
For faster graphics try 'GFXBOOST'
i hear that GFXBOOST actually slows down graphic speeds
Dear HTC hd touch users.
As the title says what ROM are you guys using and why are you using it?
Maybe u can say some good and bad stuffs with that ROM. Also which ROM are you recommending and why are u recommending it?
Thanks for answer
Kind Regards
I vote for 3:
- Original HTC ROM. It works, it's light. Of course no Manilla 2.5, Opera is only 9.5, Office Mobile is old version. But it works pretty fine.
- Topix 3.5 WM6.1 Manila 2.1. This is light and fast and everything works fine. It's missing lastest Office and Opera tough.
- millski rom[21897]
I'm running this one now. It's not heavy for a WM 6.5 ROM. Has all the basics and no extra unneeded programs. It feels slower than WM 6.1 of course, but it's usable. Has Office 2010 and Opera 10 integrated. All WM 6.1 programs I usually install work here (in other WM 6.5 builds you can find incompatibilities)
Thanks for the answer!
I thought that updating ur ROM from 6.1 to 6.5 would make ur phone faster and more stabile but u are saying that it feels slower? explain please'
Thanks in advance!
WM 6.5 is heavier than WM 6.1. The only thing I saw going faster is installing some programs. Manilla 2.5 is heavier than Manilla 2.1. Manilla 2.5 with all tabs is heavier than it with footprints, facebook or e-reader tabs removed.
You must think of that when choosing a ROM.
A WM 6.1 ROM has more much RAM free than a 6.5 (130 MB vs 90 MB for example). This is important if you launch applications like Opera 10. Touch HD2, with 1 GHz snapdragon and 512 MB od RAM, can handle WM 6.5 better. Touch HD is not designed for WM 6.5.
If Kwbr or someone else decides to update the WM 6.1 ROM with IE6, Office 2010 and Opera 10, I'm flashing that. Right now you can use a light WM 6.5 (48% RAM used on boot).
I just love Energy ROM...they are the best in term of full pack features (all the latest) and if you are in for a beauty (eye candy) stuff. Currently I am using the Energy ROM 23554 with GTX theme (truly AWESOME!)

I would recommend Cloudy 1.6 or Topix 3.5.10, both wm6.5 roms, close to stock, low ram useage, ive had no problems with either of these roms.
Don't use wm 6.5, its stable when you don't install apps but If you install your apps, your hd will run slowy and unstable. I prefer kwbr 3.1.2 its is wm6.5 with manilia SENSE 2.1, I updated microsoft office to 2010 and opera to 10 final. All my apps are intalled, about 60 apps and it stil runs smooth, stable and fast. I've tried all the recent roms, and I always flash back to kwbr 3.1.2!! KWBR 3.5 wm6.1 sense 2.1 is in my opinion not beter than 3.1.2
If the point of this thread is to find out which roms people use & why so you can decide which to try.....my best advice would be to try a few yourself. You're never going to know which build is for you unless you try it.
Yes wm6.1 is quicker than wm6.5, but you may prefer the latest builds in wm6.5 over wm6.1
Its a matter of personal taste and everyone has his/her own likes & dislikes
Threads similar to this have been opened countless times before and closed for the very reason that its opinionated which creates endless long threads as each user will have a different opinion
For the same reasons I am closing this thread
Hi!
I am kind of a noob when it comes to phone hacking so i ask for help here.
I have a Blackstone with WM 6,1. Is there any way to put WM 6,5 on it and make it work as smooth as it does now?Or do you recommend to put Android on it? I have read stuff about putting android on a blackstone and it does not sound like it works any good, but maybe i am wrong.
What do i need to swap from WM 6,1 to WM 6,5, and how do i do it.
Thank you from Forca
Windows Mobile 6.5 is not lighter or faster than 6.1. It takes more RAM and use more CPU. The only WM 6.5 ROMs for Touch HD are the ones done by the cooks here. They have ported also Manilla 2.5, so you can have twitter, facebook, footprints.. tabs weather animations, etc
You can get a very useful and fast ROM installing KWBR 6.1 and then installing a twitter client, facebook app, marketplace... if you want.
In the end depends on what you want more. WM 6.5 ROMs come with latest versions of many apps, but most of them can be installed on WM 6.1 too.
There have been other people asking the same only a few days ago, please use search:

There's a section on this forum for Android on Touch HD but it's not a ROM and it's not a replacement for WM ROMs. Several things do not work at all (GPS, camera), and it's very slow on average. It's nice to take a look at Android and test apps, since you do not have to modify the ROM, you just reboot and load Android from the SD card. But it's not like you're going to run Android all the time on this device.
Thank you very much for your help
Why there is no more benchmarks? =((
Benchmarks don't always relate to real life usage.
The way to find out the right ROM for you and your daily life is to flash a few different ones and see what you think.
WM6.1 is obviously going to be the quicker of the two as standard (for example: Windows XP vs Vista - XP was quicker as standard).
But WM6.5 has a built in lock-screen (with sliding button), kinetic scrolling and other finger-friendly stuff that WM6.1 doesn't have. I like these, so I use WM6.5 instead and accept it may not run quite as quick as a WM6.1 ROM will do.
The quickest 6.1 ROMs I know about are Dutty's 3.9XT and kwbr's Topix 3.02 (one of his latest may be quicker, but I haven't used those).
The quickest 6.5 ROM I've used so far is kwbr's WM6.5 with Manila 2.1 (i.e. without the weather under the clock) - think it's up to version 1.5 now but I'm still on 1.3 and am in no real rush to change yet
But as I said before, you'd need to try them out for yourself to know which is best for you.
The easiest way to find the fastest ROM is via flashing.
And as all fastest ROM threads thread closed.
