Hey Guys
I found out something interesting. I downloaded this freeware audio routing software for using the earpiece for sip softwares like skype which normally send their autput audio through the loudspeaker and not the normal speaker for calls.
http://www.teksoftco.com/storage/download.php?product=audioroute_ppc
now the interesting thing is that this software has 3 possible speaker choices
one is the internal the other the external and speakerphone that when is activated u hear music from xperia in a greeat quality and really high volume. It sound like stereo speakers. I am really wondering how many speakers has xperia? and why normally the music doesnt come out like this but in a very low quality. ???
suggestions welcome

Most likely two...the ear piece speaker and the speaker phone speaker.
I don't think there's an internal speaker like on the Ipod Nano.
so, your'e saying that you found a way to enhance the inside speaker??
Cool !
For as far as i heard, there is a mono speaker built in, and there where plans to make it stereo..
I just gave this a try, it does produce sound from the ear piece speaker on one of the settings and while it is a much better quality sound it is far too quiet to make a difference or to listen to, you actually need to put the phone to your ear to hear it.
Shame, I was hoping it would flesh out the poor sounding loudspeaker
This guy didn't find 3 speakers.

I also had my xperia taken apart and couldn't see any other speakers. you can't always trust a software. if its programmed to say there are three speakers it will say there are three. also you have to look with which phones it is compatible

ok now try this
leave a song playing and from the software change from earpiece to speaker phone (The order is VERY important) so first put the audio to play in ur earpiece(first icon) then put it into the speakerphone (last icon) and u will hear a very loud music in a good quality. then if u change to the second icon u will hear the normal very low quality.
there is a huuuge difference

Ok, will give it a try later, so in theory it will be playing from both the ear piece and the loudspeaker, with the ear piece giving it a bit more oomph.
Will this work with the ring tone too???
This could be the final piece of the puzzle to make my Xperia perfect
Not true.

Ok that does it ...
The first thing when i get home is to make a video and upload it on youtube ... till later
this app is very bad...can't shut it down, speaker on and stuck there.
edit: okay, to shut it down you have to press the first icon and the little bar below is for moving it around.
the last icon did play with both speakers on. there is no 3rd speaker. first icon for the earpiece, second icon for speakerphone, and last icon for both. IT DOESN'T MAKE A BIG DIFF. Can you hear the earpiece loud? NO...

Strange ... for me it does ... but u have to pass from the earpiece (first icon) to the last icon ... and another icon will appear telling that speakerphone is ON and during this time the music is really much louder and in a much better quality.
like i said...the last icon is playing with both earpiece and speaker on. that's it.
Would the incall volume of the ear piece speaker make a difference...mind is set to the lowest so maybe when the sound is played through the ear piece that's why it's quiet.
What incall volume are you guys phones set too
carefull, you can burst your earpiece speaker with this.

hmm actually i dont think so ... because the higher volume doesnt come from the earpiece but from the normal output sound... only that is amplified and much better quality

Agreed, but there are only two speakers. Earpiece and mono loudspeaker.
The HTC Touch Pro2 has 3 speakers.
actually im thinking there might be three ... the one which is mono might have 2 speakers inside one low quality for music and ringtones and another good quality for loudspeaker during calls ... and is activated only when using loudspeaker during a call ... (u will see the same icon and notification that speakerphone is active)
but i really like the sound ... is like my laptop

is it possible to overclock/tune the audio settings and increase the sound that comes out from the speakers???
I hate the tilt speaker, its so quiet that i always miss my calls. Plus my headphones are louder not on my ear than playing music from the speaker.
mehh???
Can't do the phone for you, but get a player with pre-amp capability in the equaliser - like GSPlayer, or TCMP
G.
just tried gsplayer, its not loud either...
is there anyway to make the speaker louder for mp3's??? :/ atleast for the ring tone.
Download your ringtones from your pda to your pc and open them with an audio edit program (like audition or ...). Raise the volume and save it.
Put them on your pda
think you should go to a doctor
i had to decrease the speaker to 50% cause it was much to loud.
there will be no software-way to increase, cause it is limited to avoid hardware-problems with the speaker. try to open your kaiser and do some electonic-work
bye andré
Are you complaining about the ring tone volume? or the music volume?
If so then do the following using your computer:
1. Save the Ring Tones or the Music Files onto your Computer.
2. click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder/
3. On the Sound recorder, click File/Open/ ( open the Ring Tones you saved earlier or the music files)
4. Increase the volume and then save the file. You can re-record the saved file with another 25% volume increase.

Not offense meant, I'm talking from a professional point of view: go to a ENT specialist to check on your hearing capabilities. Especially if you're young, you may have damage from various club visits, etc.
If you're older, you may have had ISSHL without even noticing it.
Seriously: I'm 42 and the HTC TyTN II is VERY loud at the max volume setting(s), so you definetely have to check out your hearing capabilities. Even if you think you hear very well, it is possible that you hear only certain frequencies very well and others not.
Just a friendly advice, you don't have to agree.
the phone has its speaker on the rear side, which is sucks!
but then they couldnt place the speaker grills on the front either for sake of looks
i (and i am sure almost everybody) keep the phone with the lcd facing up so the speaker gets blocked and the sounds are muffled.
my nokia has its speaker on the top (not front) which sounds awesome even when in pant pockets..
seriously i think uk3 is fine..lol..nothing wrong with his ears
Take a look at your sound profile.
I was having the same problem until i checked that and noticed that it defaults at sound 40% ring 40%
knocked it up to 100% and all is well now
the sound for the default ringtone... (Ring Windows Mobile) is VERY loud when volume is at max. BUT the ringtone of the mp3 that i put into the /my documents/my ringtones are very low and unable to hear them when i have the phone in my pocket. I notice about a 50% in volume change.
This goes with the windows media/audio manager. It plays really low. My hearing is fine im only 18 lol

Not sure where or if it even exist on a default settings (i've got the 02 version of the Kaiser i.e the strealth) but i've got SPB phone suite installed so there is a icon on my today screen which I can just tap and set various profiles to ring and notification settings (set to 100% ring and 100% vibrate, 40% ring and vibrate, just vibrate etc.)
But as a test I did a hard reset (backed up everything with sprite backup first) and then played the default ringtone and it was very quiet , restored from my backup which had spb phone suite installed and the volume increased a lot
Hello folks ... actually my problem with Kaiser is different, as my speakers work so fine with both ring tones and music ... but my problem is with the ring back tone (RBT) which is the ringing tone you hear till the other party picks up the call ... I can barely know whether it's dialing or not ... anyone can give me the registry key/value to enhance this.
TIA
HI dude, try the SRS WOW HD app.
It works on my Kaiser
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355496&highlight=srs_wowhd_arm
The volume of the actual mp3 doesnt matter. I rerendered a mp3 to 20db more than it was.. and it still played the same volume on the phone... Is it just that the speaker of the kaiser is crappy?
Can anyone suggest agood custom setting
If u could clcik a Picture captuer & post it
Would help alot
Thank You

I currently have an XDA IIs and the sound through the speaker is kinda meh, I'm thinking of getting a Touch Pro which I assume will have the same speaker as the Diamond and I'm wondering if you who have one will give me the heads up.
What's the quality/dynamic range like?
Is it loud?
Does it distort too much at higher volume levels?
I know some may question what I can expect from a phone speaker, lol, but there can be differences.
Thanks.
Not good. The sound is thin, so as the phone.
That was honest and helpful.
Thanks.

the sound from mine is fine, works like a charm.
The external speaker is for voice, if you want it to play "decent" music get some headphones or plug it into a stereo.
Could you tell me which music player you are using??
I am using the default player in TouchFlo3D. Tried built in speaker, bundled headphone, and my own headphone with 35mm mini plug adapter...all sound like old AM radio. No bass and high pitch is a bit scratchy.
Bluetooth A2DP + my headphone is much better, though far from perfect.

im using the builtin one, what encoding are you're MP3's?
Checked Media Properties by CorePlayer:
Audio: MPEG Layer-3
Codec: CoreMP3
Audio Format: 44100Hz 2Ch
Data Bit Rate: 320kbit/s
Duration ~4mins
FileSize ~10MB
Thanks walshieau. My problem with headphone is solved. It was due to buggy Audio Booster. More detail here:

Of course I agree with you that we can't expect too much from the built in speaker.
Sound from external speaker
I have Pocket Player for my TD and it has an equalizer built in that you can customize. I have the sound from my external speaker sounding very good, ( I think) with Bass. It doesnt rock my pocket...but...its much better than it was. I find it very acceptable.
not good for mp3 ringtone it like the speaker cant Handle it
the sound get crap when you turn up the volume

I come from a nokia 7710 (first real touch screen in the world) and that speaker was LOUD, the one on Diamond is kindo bad. Forget about bassss.
gbye.
Yeah, I think the problem is not just the quality, but the loudness too.
If you use this with a Sat nav program (e.g., TomTom), at the maximum volume the audio commands are not loud enough when driving and with the car's radio on
Anybody knows of any trick/tweak to modify the volume range on Diamond, even if it gets distorted, as I really just need loudness for sat nav directions.
i have the same wing as my buddy, but his phone speaker when on either playing music or phone call is much more louder, has more bass than mine, is there a reason 4 this? whats the best way to improve speaker phone quality. and secondly which rom so far 4 u provides that in terms of speaker improvement. your input are highly welcome.

For the playing music part, do you guys play the same file? It could be the encoding and decoding process that different files have diffierent output levels. So test again with the same file. For the phone call, make a call (to your voice mail mabe), then turn up the volume while you're on the call. It's weird that this can only access when you're on a call. Hope this help
Have you checked to make sure the volume on the actual media player is turned up? The WMP's volume is usually on like 70% from default or something like that.
I bought my girlfriend a wing and her speaker's sound is a lot better than mine. And I've tried the same exact video and audio files.
Hey Dudes/Dev's
What i want:
I want to Create a Mod which us allow to use the Front Speaker+Side Speaker for Stereo Music
See Attached Pic...
I have tested the Loudness of the Front Speaker and i think the Volume Level is nearly the same to the Side Speaker!(?)
I want to let the Music play over the 2 Speakers like:
Front (Call-)Speaker=Left Audio Channel + Side (Loud-)Speaker=Right Channel=Stereo!?

Steps:
-1. Find files which include the Speaker config. Maybe lib-so files?
-2. Find the right way to edit. Maybe i can compare the files between Tablet Z and Xperia Z to find the diffrence?
-#. Edit files to -> Playing Music-> 2 Speaker's active (2 Channels Left-Right),Call Option1-> 1 Speaker active,Call Option2-> 2 Speaker active
-3. Find a Way to make both Speaker's to the same Loudness Level
maybe more...
I really don't know what's needed for this so Please Help!

Good idea
Another excellent idea, though sound when watching movies is allready pretty good, true stereo imaging would be a massive plus.
Good luck with this

Sounds like a good idea but then again, earpiece is not nearly as powerful as the main speaker and can result in funny stereo audio lol FYI, the stereo speaker positions are a bit weird
In order to achieve in what you want, we need to route all audio playback to play on two channels which is the earpiece and speaker at the same time. We can either do this on a specific configuration file or kernel modifications. I am not sure how to do this as I haven't tried before but it's a start
It's too bad that Sony did not make two speakers positioned like the HTC one... Would of been epic...

wow didnt see you Replied to this thread nice to hear from you...
It's really bad with the Speaker Position... sometimes my right hand mute the Speaker
but back to the idea... it's like you say,the Earpiece is not really Powerful (It's a really Clear Speaker, but no Bass) so you think it's not loud enough for stereo? Maybe we can use it to Support the other speaker (more Virtual Sound or such,i think you know whats good )
The Point is still to find out how we can use the second speaker :crying:
the only idea i have is to find the related files and watch the same files on a Stereo Speaker Tablet to see what we need to change...
when it works we have really found a General Mod for a lot of Devices with low Volume Speaker Devices.

You won't find any related files which will route your speaker and earpiece together.
We need to re-route the audio playback with earpiece and speaker activated at the same time to make both speakers to sound like stereo. If you compare with Tablet Z, you will not find anything because the configurations for that is to route audio playback to both the speaker components and if we do that then it still won't work because we don't have that 2nd speaker.
If we can re-route the speakers into stereo, then we can manually increase the earpiece to make it sound as loud as the main speaker
This is just an idea remember, I don't actually know how we will do this
Any progress on this excellent idea?

One thing that bother me a lot is volume via earpiece of phone during call on my nokia 8.does anyone know how to boost it ?
Your problem is opposite of mine. I have problem of static and and hissing noise with Nokia in-ear headphone making it unacceptable whenever I want to listen to the music or audiobooks. So I adjust the headphone jack, then it becomes better, not so much noise in the background, and the sound is much, much louder. The backdraw is that the volume control on the headphone doesn't work anymore, and the sound is still really loud in minimum volume.
I also try my other headphone, luckily it works fine. However, the sound is not as loud as it comes from the Nokia headphone even in the maximum volume.
