Help 1 More Time Please No Options Are Working

Heres whats Happening
I Got Rc29 on my phone
I Think i rooted correctly
I have Recovery.img and update.zip(hardspl)
on my sd card
Im stuck here where the Arrows Pointing
"What To Do Now That You Have Root
Now that you have root, you will want to apply "Hard SPL" to your phone. HardSPL is what will allow you to apply flash images from other regions (like UK on US phones, and vice versa), create full backups of your phone, install the latest build from the Android source, and usually resurrect your phone if it is "bricked". You have already downloaded the file to your SD card, so now you can apply it.
1.Power off your phone.
2.Start up in recovery mode by --->(holding home and pressing power)<---.
3.You will now enter recovery mode. You should see an exclamation.
4.If you do not see a menu on screen, press Alt-L to show the menu.
5.Press Alt-S to apply the update from the SD card.
6.After the update is complete, hold Home and press Back to restart."
When im at step 2 i do as told but when attempting It turns on
with the Tmobile g1 screen then goes black then g1 again then turns on like normal it doesnt enter recovery mode
so can i update(hardspl) with the Back+Power button instead the recovery or no?
Whats wrong i dont understands what im doing wrong
please just like help me out

You need to reformat your post. You mashed together other threads instructions with your own post without seperating or quoting them. Its difficult to read.

You need to hold down home+power until at least the fone vibrates. Some say hold it down longer which is fine. Your phone should then boot into a recovery console that will allow u to apply the update.zip file you placed on the root of your SD (this file should be the hard/engineering SPL). Post if u still have probs.

This is the SECOND thread he has made about this. Apparently the first one wasn't good enough for him anymore.

can not enter recovery mode..

hi,
my tattoo can not enter recovery mode after pressing [END]+[HOME], it's only show the "!" sign in a triangle and phone icon.. but it succesfully enter HBOOT mode my presing [END]+[VOLUME DOWN]
it has been rooted with m6..
can anybody explain what happen with my tattoo?

coolbits.. nope, my tattoo never been flash before, it just been rooted with m6 method.. so, is it normal if it's not able to go to recovery mode by pressing [END]+[HOME] when my tattoo has not been flash before?

If you didn't flash the custom recovery image, yes it's normal!

from memory the "!" sign in a triangle and phone icon
is the default splash screen and you just have to press some other button for menu
alt + L I think ... ill edit if I have time to dig it up running late for work and have my own flash issue atm

If the triangle is showing, then you didn't sucessfully ported recovery img.

Not dev. related question..
BTW I think you should install ROM Manager (with Clockwork recovery)
Then use the nandroid backup or flash another update.zip.
To rollback to original 1.6 use the WWE RUU

I cant rollback to original 1.6 becouse its says error when i tray

Which one is the "ENTER OK" Key ?

im trying to wipe my captivate at the moment, booted into the clockwork 3e recovery mode.
vol up down chooses the menu but what button to "Enter" ? Power does not work, thanks

how do i get out of this ? Vol up down buttons work, but no enter button ... home etc... nothing happens.

It's one of the bottom four keys... menu or back

Oh, I see the other keys don't work.
When I saw something similar, one of those keys worked for "enter". If no keys work for enter, these are the options I know of:
- Hold up+power to reset
- Hold up+down+power to reset in to recovery
- Hold down+power to reset in to download mode (where you can flash back to stock with odin)
- Pull battery

To get to the green recovery mode, make sure you have the install.zip file in the internal sd. Then in regular recovery, click reinstall packages. You may need to press it twice.
If you don't have the install.zip file, boot your phone, download ROM Manager from the market and select the option, Flash ClockWork Recovery.
Once this is installed, each time you go to recovery, it takes you to clockwork recovery mode automatically

cant get into recovery

i cant get into my recovery, i have a recovery image, im on cm7 rc3, i tried flashing to the stable using rom manager, but i get stuck on the htc screen, i take out the battery, try flashing the normal way, and im still stuck on the htc screen, what can i do? i deleted gapps off my sd card and put the new one in, but i didnt flash right away, i tried flashing cm7 stable first, dont know if thats what caused the issue. thanks for your help

It puzzles me you say you can't get into recovery but you posted you tried flashing the rom threw rom manger and the " normal " way. I'm thinking the normal way is from your recovery. If you can get into recovery try this. Make a nandroid of your current rom. Then do a full wipe. As in data,cache & dev-cache. Then flash the rom and see if it boots up. If it does. Reboot back into recovery and flash the gapps. then reboot. See if that works. If you cant actually get into recovery just post back and either myself or fellow xda members will try and help you out.

i cant get into recovery at all, what i wrote was i tried flashing the cm7 stable from rom manager first, but it got stuck on the htc screen, then tried the normal way which is holding down the red button and clicking on the reboot-recovery option, and still got stuck on the htc screen. these are the only two ways i know to get into recovery, and holding down the volume down button and the power button, which didnt work for me either, basically i cant get into recovery. i thought it was because i deleted my gapps and didnt flash the new gapps file as soon as i put it in my sd card,but im not sure if that is the reason.

With power off
To boot into recovery you
Press & hold the red power button & press & hold the home buttom untill you see your recovery. Or Peres & hold the power button then press and hold the volume down button. A white screen will appear. When you see the white screen press the home button and wait. Your recovery should appear. If you just deleted your gapps zip from your SD it would not effect your recovery at all. I think your just caught in a boot loop and your not booting into recovery the correct way. But I'm not sure.let me know if this works. What recovery are you using???

i tried what you said and im still get stuck on the htc screen, i saw the white screen and all but when i pressed the home button i got stuck at the htc screen, its the cm7 recovery clockworkmod

Pull battery, replace battery.
BEFORE POWERING ON DEVICE, press and hold HOME key.
WHILE HOLDING HOME KEY, press and release power button.
WHEN HTC LOGO APPEARS, release HOME key.
You should now be in recovery.

Are you able to boot normally? Or does that get stuck as well?

yeah i can get into cm7 past the logo and everything, i can run rc3, but i cant get into recovery at all trying everything in the past posts

Then just go into ROM Manager and re-flash the recovery.

If I'm not mistaken can't you tell rom manger were to look for the recovery you want to flash?? If so and you have a copy of the recovery on your sd you can flash it.

I am having the same problem...except I never actually got Cyanogen flashed. I rooted my phone. Installed SuperUser to fix permissions. Installed Rom Recovery and flashed the Clockworks Recovery. Then I backed up the Rom and when I went to boot into recovery to flash Cyanogen, I just get the white HTC screen. I get the same issue with manual recovery (holding down home and turning the power on). I can boot normally, but I can't restore my backup or use any other recovery features. Any ideas?

So I cleared my cache and then I selected to installed zip from sdcard and selected the cyanogen zip file. I get E: Error in /sdcard/update-cm-7.0.0-Hero-signed.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted.
Anyone know what that means?

Could just be a bad download. Redownload it and try again. Or it could mean its the wrong type of file. Or the zip needs to be signed.

CWM wont boot up. PLEASE HELP ME

ClockworkMod recovery wont boot up AT ALL
It wont let me in my recovery settings.
Pressing the down volume button and the power button gives me the recovery option, but will do the same exact thing.
In fact the second I go to it from ROM manager the screen goes black and then takes me to my HTC screen and just stays there.
I cant even go back to factory settings.
I would like to just restore my origional phone/settings and just forget about this whole flashing rom idea.
PLEASE help me. How do I get to my restore so I can go back to my old settings???

2 options you can try.
1. Copy the ClockworkMod.zip to the root of your SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip and then boot into HBOOT and let it reinstall CWM.
2. Boot into HBOOT and use the FASTBOOT command to flash the CWM recovery image.
Not sure which one you had used before, but it would be worth trying the other option.

or even easier, install ROM manager from the market and use the one click option install CWM mod from within that.

Thanks...I used Android Flash 1.8 to flash the recovery back on my phone!!! And went from there. Actually the **4EXTRecovery_v2.1.0_RC1_vivo** is better to use for recovery and flashing in my opinion...Thats what I used..
