Extended battery --> GPS Failure - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Good evening to everybody!
Today I've experienced a really annoying thing!
I received a 1800mAh extended battery for my diamond (now I call it "sandwich"!), and today I've had the good idea of trying it in a small trip! well, when it was time to use GPS, all the satellites were down, or better, iGO says that GPS is connected, but it doesn't find any satellite.
Maybe a Radio problem? tryed to change Radio, but nothing happens
Maybe a ROM problem? tryed to change ROM, but nothing happens
Maybe a BATTERY problem? tryed to change BATTERY......PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
But how could it be possible? maybe low cost batteries could have interferences with GPS receiver?
How can I resolve the problem and use the extended battery(it is really long lasting!)?
Anybody has had the same problem?
Please help!
Many thanks!

It is something with the extended batteries, nothing to do about it as far as I know. Use GPS = Original 900 mAh or 1340 mAh maximum. Don't use GPS = 1800 mAh.

So you are saying that I'm only a really lucky man?
sigh!

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

Battery life problems

Right then,
I am a n00b here, and am expecting a bunch of 'search for it' responses that seem common in my reading of the forum over the past day or so. I have tried all of the tweaks recommended and still suffer from poor battery life. Today for example, day 4 of having the phone, and having been charged approximately 6 times during that time, the phone has only 2 green 'bars' of power left after only 8 hours of being on. During that time I have made no phone calls, and sent/received about 8 sms messages.
Anyone have any ideas or similar problems? I understand that this phone suffers from limited battery power, but mine seems particularly bad.
Thanks anyone who can help.
could be a bad battery?
I improved mine by disabling the GPRS auto-attach (massive saving) and truning off wifi using comm manager when not using it but by the sound of it you have tried these...
Mine lasts a few days now.
I also got good results from Bepe's and TDP's ROMs but it's probably nad to flash if you are thinking of sending it back as faulty...
Yes, also as a 'n00b' I'm not too confident flashing it just yet. The battery does get hot during charging, something others say doesn't happen. I think it may be a faulty battery. I have turned off the auto-attach and also wifi, as well as any other tweaks that were mentioned on here regarding battery life. Nothing seems to be working. Anyone else have any input? Thanks.
Same problem here.
I also flashed it with TLR ROM... but the problem is the same and very annoying.
I use it in a very normal way without any strange usages.
For me the battery resists only 75% of the day... and it is terrible!!!
I tried also with the minumum of brightness.... but you can't use it like this all the time!!!
Any suggestions??
Thnx!!
I am thinking of phoning Orange (who I got the phone from) and asking for their help. I think I might have to send the phone back which I really don't want to do. I hope they might just ship me a replacement battery.
wow. u get 4 hours? mines more like 2 hours. im on my 2nd diamond with the same results. i tried all the different roms also. u are not alone. my fix was going back to using my old touch.
You should flash a new rom..I recommend you shep's new rom and get radio 1.12.25.19 with matched rilphone2.dll..your diamond will stop suffering from battery draining.

Just in case you haven't tried all tweaks and tips yet, have a look at this Battery Conservation Fanatic thread.
If the battery is OK, you should try with a new rom. I had the same problem: my Diamond were with Vodafone default ROM and the battery lasted half a day... now with a cooked ROM, the battery lasts near two days.
Good luck!
900 mAh is btw way too small for such a phone, I recommend you to get a new rom/new battery. I'm waiting soooo much on my new 1800 mAh battery........

Battery indicator shows "Unknown"

Hi guys !
May be someone could help me with this.
Since the original Diamond battery was too "small" I've ordered an enhanced battery, 1800 mAh, from Easy Devices UK.
Everything went fine with my 1.37 ROM.
But then, after upgrading to the 1.93.831.1 WWE ROM, I have the following problem: the battery indicator shows a battery with an exclamation sign on it and when I go to "Settings\System\Power", instead of displaying the remaining battery charge, it only displays "Unknown"!
This happens only with the 1800 mAh battery (with the 900 mAh one, it works fine).
The 1800 mAh battery can be normally charged (but I have to guess when it's full, because I have no indicator) and then normally used (but , I don't know how much is left, which is very unpleasant.
Did anyone of you have this ? Is any way around ?
Thanks,
Matei
Hi guys !
Exactly the same issue for me (except I have never tested it on original ROM, directly on a new SwiftBL cooked ROM). battery bought from GPSForLess via eBay.
As MateiF said, it's seem it's a ROM issue as battery works correctly on 1.37 ROM.
So, does-it exist a workaround or a special file/driver for new 1.93 ROM ?
TIA

Hi guys!
I have exactly the same problem with an Offical ROM upgrade!
would be great if someone could help us out, as its a pain in the backside not knowing how long your battery will last for!!
I'm having the same problem with a 2400 mah battery...
Got the same prob but wit added pain onto it
I too got the same above mentioned problem but added pain is that when my battery is over completely then it wont boot my phone on recharging and jus keep the phone on restart again and again.
Then i have to remove my battery off the phone and charge it on some external charger then only my phone can boot up.
Any suggestion for it.
Tx in advance
you all can try this application I hope it can help you

gps locking on problem fixed

after reading several posts on the forum about gps locking on to satellites
when using any sat nav software i like many others have spent about 3 days trying all the fixes on the forums. when i first got the phone the gps locked on to sats no problems and then one day nothing .
then my missus noticed one thing that i had changed the battery which i purchaced from ebay but the main difference was the new battery was a high capacity version 1800ma which comes with a replacement back to compensate for the extra thickness. so once she pointed this out i ran a test and as soon as i ran the phone with the original battery instant satellite
lock. then i went back to the high capacity battery and i get nothing not one satalite. this is well worth a try. i guess i owe the wife a bunch of flowers
gary
Gary, you should always buy your lady flowers irrespective of her bug fixing skills.
I just got my HTC Touch Diamond and I hope I don't have a problem with the GPS.
Yup
Some of the aftermarket batteries / backs interfere with the GPS.
Check in the accessory forum before picking one up.
I'm using the 1350 battery from HTC (via Expansys) and it works fine (as does the GPS).
I remember seeing a thread about this, and they solved this by putting tinfoil (I think that is the correct word?) between the battery and gpsreceiver in the phone. Anyone knows what thread I am talking about?
any thing els
is there something new for this error ?
High capacity battery - no GPS - tinfoil solution
My GPS used to work with Tomtom and Google Maps, etc... and then suddenly it stopped working. It was at a time when I started to install lots of new applications because the original battery didn't even last a day and I got fed up. I got a high capacity battery, which meant I could start using my phone a whole lot more.
I would never have thought that the bigger battery would cause GPS to stop working. From another thread I decided to do a hard reset - my first ever! That didn't solve the problem.
Eventually I found this answer (just after I decided to buy a cheap standalone GPS!).
Sure enough when I put the small battery back in the GPS started to work again. I then folded some tinfoil and put it on the underside of the battery (between the battery and the phone, in other words) and I have both the GPS and the high capacity battery.
Thank you very much for this.

Diamond original battery

Hi all,
I would like to purchase DIAMOND, but found in many forums that there's a problems with a original battery, that it enough only for few hours and can't finish even a one day without recharging.
Could you please tell me what is your opinion ? is it necessary to purchase the extended battery 1800 ?
And maybe another negative opinions if any ..
Thanks
It depends how you are using the phone, if you use alot of wifi/gps, it wont last long, but if just few calls and sms in a day, it will last more than a day.
With extented battery 1800 your gps wont work, but with the original extented it will, with extented i've heard it can make 4-7 days
what the difference between extended battery 1800 and original extended ?
why should gps effected ?
anybody have same problem ?
original extended
i have that and gps works fine.....i have tried others but sent back as they wouldn't get a gps lock.....
im more than happy with my original extended battery now
With all the tweaks on Advanced config and Diamond config done, I have a 3 days battery lifetime - 50-60 min talk time , ~60min 3g internet , ~30 min wifi . I dont use gps without chager , because is included in the gps stand.
I got 1 extra day on battery simple by switching off 3g when not using it.
anybody have here an extended battery ? is the gps working correctly ?

Battery Life hacks? Which one?

Hi,
I came across this cab file today for the Kaiser http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2132767&postcount=151
its right said:
ok guys, some of you want to increase the battery life, i attached a cab file which contains these registries:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0
all of these can improve the battery life, but if you face any issues with WiFi, just check these registries .
enjoy.

Has this been used in preference to, or in conjuction with the cab found here

Power Saving.cab
sd-battery-save.cab
I have spent about an hour trolling through all sorts of posts and would like any feedback on what is recommended.
Thanks in advance.
anyone have any comments? surely im not the only one trying to get a full day out of the stock battery.
This is the best hack out there.
http://cgi.ebay.com/AT-T-TILT-8925-...s?hash=item1c05a465c2&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
if I not wrong, sp call battery hack ..it not really hack to battery, It only reduce the phone keep searching the network (which consume a lot battery ...according to some forum).
I think this one better ..2800mah ...
http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2...00-110-120-O2-XDA-Stellar-2800mAh-Battery.htm
My phone will last about 3 days by measurement if I'm not running Flexmail with two mailboxes online. Otherwise, 14 hours.
Want a full day out of your Tilt? Limit network activities, or interactive activities, and don't use the GPS. Network, backlight, and GPS are probably the biggest power users on the Tilt. I assume WiFi too, but the only thing I've used WiFi on my Tilt is for scanning for open access points.
Sorry bumping thread couple of months old....
I've got a Kaiser HTC TyTN II and my battery is a shame.... i can't get it until the end of the day, always getting empty at the end of the day....
What can i do to improve the battery life time?
I've installed those cabs, but nothing really happens....
My phone idle during the night takes like 20-25% of the total battery.
I just use my phone to make and receive calls (lot of them), and sometimes the bluetooth when staying at the car.
Some time ago i ordered a 2800mah battery, but i really don't want to carry always a replacement battery with me, besides its really heavy and big....
Thank you for you advices.

There's an old saying begars can't be choosers... Kinda makes sense you want better battery life yet you want to stick to stock battery.
Ummmm? Buy a OEM new stock battery if the size of 2800 is too much? To be honest the Tilt is a brick anyway so i'm happy to have aprx 1cm added to the base... Also maybe time to try all the Radio's available to see if you can get better battery life, while @ it hard-reset device to start from fresh
