Hello,
I am on T-Mobile in Philadelphia, so which Radio would be best for me?
Looking for a Radio with GREAT signal strength but also that is stable, fast, smooth.
Any help would be appreciated because signal strength has been really bad ever since I started flashing and now using hundreds of different ROM's... Mostly Dutty's and Miri's.
And does the Radio DELETE everything from my phone?
Cause I just set up my entire phone, e-mail, contacts
For right now, I am using Dutty's WM6.5 Leo R1 ROM, but I WILL upgrade when he comes out with a newer version.
Thanks in Advance,
Victor~
Hey,
Nope flashing a new radio doesn't delete anything from your phone unlike a ROM, which is great
I updated from the stock radio to 1.12.25.16 and found that was a really good radio.
I tried 1.14.25.24 a while back but found it was worse than the radio I had used before so I actually reverted.
A few days ago I took the advice of some people who had posted in Duttys ROM thread regarding a hex edited radio (nothing scary!)
If you security unlock your Blackstone (not the same as SIM unlock) for a small fee/donation, then you can flash the 1.16.25.48 radio. This is the best radio I have used yet, much better signal even in former weak spots! Call quality seems better and even better; no dropped calls.
Thanks for the reply.
How do I know if my phone isn't already security unlocked?
It is fully unlocked, running on any SIM and everything. And right now I am running Radio 1.14.25.24 and the signal strength is HORRIBLE. Just horrible. I lose signal in very stupid places, sometimes in the car when outside I have full strength and sometimes in my house, where I should be having full signal, it now goes between one and three bars and sometimes no service at all.
I bought the phone back in September, when they came out. And I have used only Miri's and Dutty's ROMS mostly. Then just themes and CABs of other files like HDTweak and FingrKeyboard.
So would I be able to place the Radio 1.16.25.48 on my Blackstone?
Thanks
Victor~

Flashing a new radio will not delete your current ROM's settings.
If you are not sure - do not flash 1.16 radio, it can brick your device for ever. Seems like you phone does not have a "security unlock"
Рекомендую НРГ (NRG) РОМ, пробовал многое, но это пока самое лучшее, что тут есть
Why is it not good to install 1.16? Bad?
I am looking for a good Radio because I am losing signal almost everywhere.
And what NRG ROM? Can you post link please.
Looking for SMOOTH ROM, preferably something like Dutty's Leo ROM, or a good Manila2.5ROM atleast untill Dutty works out the bugs.
Thanks.

Read this to understand the risks. As Valti says it can brick your phone and make it an expensive paperweight which will have no signal anywhere. .
Note: Secutiy unlock is not the same as being able to use any SIM card (that is just SIM unlocked). I believe that if your phone is security unlocked it will say so when you put it into bootloader mode and unless you actually applied to have it secuurity unlocked it is not likely to be unlocked.
So is there any way to get a better signal?
Do I have to Security Unlock my phone to install ANY Radio?
Or will a signal booster work better if I bought one?
Thanks

AFAIK, you can install other Blackstone radios without having the phone security unlocked. The radio wiki seems to suggest that the worst that could happen could be a hard reset (which would loose your data).
If you want to try a radio from another phone such as 1.16 then YES you do need to be security unlocked (and then the consequences are more dire if things go wrong) (Sorry I posted the link to an incorrect thread in my post above - Read this one for the risks associated with the 1.16 radio.
As far as signal boosters etc I have not used them so have no view on the effectiveness of these.

There's no harm in signal boosters, I have never tried one myself but several people I know and probably thousands on eBay would say it increased their signals!
At the moment I can assure you your phone will be SIM unlocked but not security unlocked.
To install any radio that belongs to Blackstone e.g. 1.12 or 1.14 (that was a rubbish radio for me too!) you DON'T have to security unlock your phone. It is easy and not much can go wrong.
1.16.25.48 is a radio from the HTC Kovsky, obviously a different device. But if you get your phone security unlocked you are able to use radios from any device. 1.16 is proven to work but there are some people who say it bricked their device. IMHO... probably because they didn't install it properly. It works very well for me and a lot of others.
Bottom line is if you're willing and able to spare a little £$£ then try 1.16; otherwise revert to 1.12 and you'll be okay I reckon.
Cheers!
clyde, all of your questions made here are already answered in many threads here.
please, for your own safety, do some reading before attempting anything about flashing your blackstone:
first security unlock your blackstone. check if your phone is security unlocked ("how to" is explained in the given thread).
then flash kovsky 1.16.25.48 radio.
you will take safe steps and learn much more than simply getting answers from your questions here. also, you'll contribute to keep the forum clean and organized!
i can confirm 1.16.25.48 radio is very good, better than 1.14 if you use your phone at low signal spots frequently. at least for me it is.

Hello from Pretoria, mate
Виток, just have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524032
For me that is the best ROM I have ever tried, with many of useful preinstalled applications in it. To flash the ROM (or a new radio) you need to have HardSPL or USPL done before flashing. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
Please remember that HardSPL and USPL - different from security unlock of your phone!
Regarding the radio - I use 1.14 without any problems.
I would highly suggest you to get radio 1.16
You need to security unlock ur phone though. I am happy to get this radio on my HD and now I think the 16 euros I spent for security unlocking was worth it. Getting better signal, phone getting less hot and call quality has improved.
And if u listen to some of our friends who say that it can brick ur phone then u must be aware that even Flashing cooked rom can brick ur phone if not done correctly so the point is that risk is everywhere. Just enjoy ur phone to its fullest. U need any help with installing the security s/w,pm me
MOD EDIT
Move out of Themes, Applications and Software as not relevent
Plenty other threads exist regarding roms & radios including this one. I suggest you post further queries there.

It worked for me.
Once you have Olipro's hard SPL on your P3600i you need to put it into bootloader mode before you flash the radio ROM.
Just in case you weren't doing it that way.
I flashed mine this afternoon and it works like a charm.
i also hv no problem in flashing the radio rom to 1.50.08.11
where can i get that rom?

Why would I want to do that? There is nothing wrong with my battery life...in fact it is really good, as is my reception and GPS Time to First fix...
If there are any other compelling reasons to "downgrade" to a much earlier radio ROM then I may consider it.....

how long does ur batree life?
Guys, I've just flashed my P3600i with olipro's loader and successfully updated the radio ROM to the 1.5.x version.
It's been 2 days now and while I do notice a slightly higher battery consumption on my phone (I have 60% batt remaining at 9pm after a full day at work, compared to 70-80% previously), the pros really outweigh the cons for me - GPS is locking within 1-2 minutes at cold start, and 20-30 secs on a warm start. The GSM and 3G signal reception seems to be more stable too.
I'll continue using this new radio ROM for a week or two before I take the plunge and move to a cooked WM6.1 full ROM.
Does anyone have problem with bluetooth on this radio version?
After flashing, my bluetooth can't search new devices, then downgrade the radio to 1.46.30.11, Bluetooth ok.
Is it the radio??? .... or something else in the OS rom.....

It certainly does work with the D810. My wife has one and I have flashed that with this Radio....it actually solved a heap of problems we were having.
Trying to upgrade but failed.
Thanks for your reply. I wonder if this radio ROM able to solve or somehow 'fix' the secondary camera problem. My secondary camera doesn't work when I'm using video calling. The video output is blank.
I've been told by someone in the forum that upgrade the current radio ROM to the latest might solved this problem. I think I might want to try it.
May I know what kind of problems you had before the upgrade ?
I tried to upgrade but it fails on me as I'm using Vista (Business Edition). I'm still searching on how to properly upgrade using Vista.

Daneal

Most of my problems were related to poor signal strength and dropping onto Edge when in a full 3G area...it used to take a Soft Reset to get it back from roaming.
I am not sure about your secondary camera issue...give it a try....it cant hurt.

Hi guys,
I have in my possession a review sample of the X1i. Seems that the hardware is intact but the software is very old
R1AA013
R13A
Generic_UK
Rom 1.01.931.14
Radio 1.05.25.15
The SE update service says there is no update for the phone, but I know R20A is out and much newer roms are also out.
I have a Touch Pro and have flashed many HTC phones before.
Is it just a matter of Hardspl and then finding a UK rom and radio somewhere.
I have checked the Wiki but there only seems to be one rom there and it does not say what it is. Can anyone please point me in the right direction for an up to date UK rom please. (really liking the panels)
if you hardspl then the seus may work, but theres several roms on this section of the forum that id use instead..
Thanks for the tip, I will try SEUS with Hardspl.
I have been looking at the roms on the forum and they all seem to be hacked with HTC Manila on them. What if I just want the latest SE panels and rom?

I have a prototype X1 too, I have flashed it a dozen times (mostly testing ROMs for the ROM LIBRARY) Zero problems. Advantage: protos are security nlocked
LINK TO THREAD HERE
Really? Thats great. I'm running the same firmware as OP, and while it will make me sad to loose everything to start fresh (just got tomtom working ) maybe I will try this out soon. A performance boost would be nice.
Usually with SE stuff the proto IMEI (004...) throws a serious red flag, among other things. Great to know I can update it. Now if only the hardware were in better shape...
Edit: One last question to gtrab or whoever may help. My main interest would be to load the latest official NAM firmware out there, doing so wouldn't lock it or anything would it? Official as in un-touched, not network (Att or Tmo) related. If I were looking to do something unofficial, what would be the best way to go? Perhaps I should read up a bit first.
But thats when you have normal non-pda se phones,
there os works differently.
You have FW, EEProm, Erom and gdfs (i think)
proto's have normally got brown FW and erom so they need brown loaders instead of red (retail) to get flashed properly.
As this phone works completely different there is (almost) no difference between proto and ratail ones.
I am trying to find information regarding the Rom that is on my HTC 8925.
When the phone boots up I do have a splash screen that says Dutty's Series.
I go into Settings>System>Device Information to find:
ROM version: Touch v6.1 WWE
ROM date: 02/19/08
Radio Version: 1.70.OliNex
Protocol version: 25.65.30.04h
What ROM do I have and where can I have find some information regarding this ROM? I have done some searches for Touch v6.1 WWE and Dutty v6.1 WWE, but to no avail.
Thank you in advance.
from the ROM date and the fact that u have a dutty's splash screen (which doesnt really accurately show what rom you are using) this would most likely be your rom.

How do I update my radio?
I am pretty green, when it comes to modifying anything like this. Plus, I do not want to do anything that I could possibly render my phone useless for awhile, since I do not know what I am doing.

Ill help you out. What you do is go into the radio thread and down load a different radio. I use 1.65.21.18 with Josh's new 6.5 super ram. When you download the file it will show up like a new rom. Flash it like you would a rom. and you are done. It really is trial and error to find the one that works best in your area. If you need any more help just let me know. I was the new guy not to long ago so I feel your pain. While in the radio thread read all the posts when you can and it will help.

I know exactly how you feel Grey, but I thought sod it, best bet (someone correct me if i am wrong) hold down the camera key and hold in the soft reset button. If it comes up with the tricolour screen and it says something like SPL-1.0.OliPof. If that comes up the scary bit has been done and someones already put HardSPL on the phone. Chances are they have if you already have a custom ROM on it.
Now the hard bit will be is what ROM to put on it. Just read how to flash it but the easiest way is to do it from the SD card, and always flash the HTC stock ROM between custom ROMS, it helps u avoid any problems.

As long as you have an official HTC rom & radio on your device your phone will be ok for warranty. Official HTC roms can be found on HTC website or in wiki here and radios here
Thanks for the info.
Well, my warranty do not depends directly by htc, but from my mobile operator SFR.
I saw one guy in a forum who get his phone fixed by sfr, but with a notice "modified phone" because he changed the radio rom. So this is the reason why I am asking
Anyway... hehehe lets hope my phone will never need to go there...
Is there any reason to change the radio? I cant find a change log of any description? Is it due to bug fixes ???

Changing radio can improve reception, GPS fix, signal battery. But this doesn't necessarily mean it will. Also depends on location as well as signal with one radio in Ireland for example may have different signal strength in India.
Best advice would be to read up on radio's in the wiki.

I want you guys advice me what to do:
I flashed Pauls rom... and because it was originally released to all Tmo N1's mine is not doing so great with its radio... (the gps is slow and inaccurate)... and im thinking about THIS too, is mine going to be recognized as a tmo being att's version?
So... do i have just to wait for cyano to release its cooked version for att? or should i flash my eclair backup and flash my orginal radio again (this scares the crap out of me)?
The gps problems dont bother me so much, but, im thinking all the futures issues... should i just wait or whut?
They are the same phone don't worry. you could just try flashing your old radio if it worked etter for you.
I'm about to root and I want to use the same radio I currently have. My phone has been rock solid with reception, and all the issues I see I don't want to risk introducing any problems.

Most roms state if there's a radio update included if there isn't your radio will remain unchanged and you can always download an update.zip with your current radio so you can go back to it in the future if you update it and dislike it.
