...in Cyanogens system recovery v1.4
Will I still be able to access the system recovery screen to apply update.zip?
Yes you will still be able to boot into recovery. Since u have 1.4 u don't have to name it update.zip just put the file u want to flash at the root of ur sd card and u r all set. Root means not in a subfolder. Not trying to be a Richard just wanted to inform if u didn't already know.

looks like i am in a big problem here.
i tried to use Clockwork to wipe and install a new rom, but after wipe dalvik, cache and data, i cant update the rom.
i tried to use too diferent zips i have in my sd, but i get a error.
trying "applying a zip from sd card" and "choose zip from sd", i can't enter in the "_external sd" folder, it just return to the previous folder (internal sd) and there is only a "update.zip" there wich i don't know what it is. I had the hope it was a update i did with rom manager but this zip doesn't work too.
if i try the roms that are in the clockwokrmod folder, i get "no files found" and i have to folders inside clockworkmod folder.
what i should try?
now when i click in any option stuk with a image of the exclamation and the Android the android dummy ((((
edit: oh, the menu is back, but i still don't know what to do.
Did you try flash another ROM for odin?

i restarded the ox2. I see sd, system and data was unmonted. But even with this mounted don'est work. I am not able to enter in the dir _external sd.
but in the clockwork folder in the internal sd i have 2 backups and they doesn't work too "no files found"
I restarted it now in normal mode and the system is there, just in default mode, asking me to configure, etc.
If i wiped data, cache and everything, where was the files that allowed this rom to "survive"? At least i can use the phone today. I am almost giving up of flash the rom
Please help, why clockwork did not recognize any zip? looks like it was not able to enter any directory
I think you need to select install zip from internal sd. That is the only way I found to install the .zips on my _ExternalSD folder.
BTW, I won't be able to restore the CWM backup because needs to be on an external SD.
I hope it helps.

Sounds like it's a case of switched mounting points, try install from internal sd.

the problem is that it was accessing any folder, even in internal sd. I don't if the app was able to recognize that there was not a valid file inside the folder or was really a error.
i am almost giving up. Thinking in change only baseband, as i believe it is safer than chaging a rom.
i don't understand how/where the device was able to boot with a "new" rom after the reboot. I thought after clear data, cache and factory reset was like formating Windows in pc. And the last command when i was in clockwork was a simple reboot, not recovery, etc.
Did you put the .zip on your external sd card? In that case, you should go to mounts and storage and select mount sdcard. If it is already mounted, unmount and mount it again. It helps in some cases. Works for me at least, I cannot guarantee that it will work for you.
my phone os stuck at AllianceROM_N7000_JB_XXLSC_Beta-1.1...i cant change os..fail...my sdcard also cant format...cant format by phone n windows...so how can i solve my problem??i want change os n format my sdcard...help!!!!

Why do you want to format your sd card. Is your SD card or internal memory not working. This method is If your phone recovery is working. Flash a cm10.1 kernel from signature stay in recovery. Go to advance>reboot recovery. Flash a custom ROM you like which you have downloaded.
This method if you can't flash from recovery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
i think this is ur first time flashing anything custom!!!!Root ur phone > flash cwm 6+>flash safe kernel and install any custom RoM.

You do not have to format user data partition (internal sdcard.).
Alternatively you can use adb to push your files to the phone.
http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/42332/push-a-rom-to-galaxy-s3-d2att-while-in-twrp-cwm
If you have a Linux, actually Ubuntu installation, everything is much simpler in this regard. You don't have to install any drivers, only android-tools-adb and the phone mounts automatically IIRC. So it is sufficient to type 'adb push yourzip /sdcard' without ''.
Edit:
I am sorry, forgot what I said about adb. That is only possible, if one has the working ROM. For some other phones, Nexus on the first place, it could be possible to do the same and even flash the ROM with fastboot, but not here...

Hi, i recentry rooted my samsung s3 mini for installing the new kitkat rom.
So, i followed the steps, saved the new ROM on my external sd card and formated the system.
The problem is this: when i was browsing the zip file with the ROM on the costume recovery menu (I have ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.2.7), a message appears saying "no files found".
So now I can´t reebot my phone beacause it has no OS and I don't know how to fix this. Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Never, ever format the system.
If you're on stock just do that:
1-Reboot in recovery
2-Choose Wipe data/factory reset
3-Flash cm rom
4-Flash gapps
5-Reboot
Done, that's it.
If you want to update cm roms (or any rom):
1-Reboot in recovery
2-Flash cm update
3-Choose Wipe cache & dalvik cache
4-Reboot
Done.
You don't need to mess up with anything more.
P.S. better use twrp 2.7 from novafusion, for better compatibility.

Thanks but it still doesn't work. I want to flash the rom but the rom file its in the external sd card and it says that there are no files found. And when i hook up the phone to my pc the phone is detected, however I can´t acess the sd card.
Maybe if there's a way for me to acess the ext. sd card and change the rom file for the internal memory it would work. Do you know how can i do this?

Euhm, it might be a weird idea, but you take your external SD-card, put it in your card reader, connect the card reader to your pc, and copy the zip to (let's say) the root of the SD-card
CWM should be fine, but I'm used to TWRP. You can find it on the novafusion website. (search novafusion TWRP)
If you can't boot into CWM or TWRP, or files still don't show up on the browsermodule in the recovery rom, you still have the possibility to flash your ROM using odin. Check the installation guide on novafusion, it gives you a link to all the files you need and a detailed description how to install your rom.
Hi!
I have downloaded the zip file from xda. When i went into recovery mood i cleared the cache and data when i tried to install the zip from sd card.... the zip was not found.
Now when i try to switch on mobile it goes into recovery mood.
Any solution to it plz help...!!!!
Awaiting for your response....
It does help stating which phone you have, either the normal 5570 or 5570i, as both phones vary a lot under the shell.
I assume you are using stock ROM and kernel, as you appear to be new to this.
When you downloaded the zip file, did you download it directly into your phone? If so, then the file stays in /sdcard/download. As the stock recovery does not display all the folders in /sdcard, the download folder cannot be seen or accessed. Hence, as a guideline, shift all flashable zips to the root of your sdcard (/sdcard) to allow your recovery to access and flash these zip files.
However, I am not too sure why your phone is unable to boot as you have (apparently) only wiped data and cache.
