Backup For Root Users, backup the data, flash, restore data, done.

I personally just backup the game data specifically by going into the /data/data folder

Yup, it's pretty fun, not as impressive looking as the iphone one but stilll fun.

Hmmm just searched in the market for 'sims', 'the sims' and 'sims 3' and none of them returned anything. Market search sucks!

PAC-MAN request
Hi,
I can't download Pac-Man from the Market. I get an error message "The download of PAC-MAN by Namco was declined because you haven't purchased it.". I tried both 3G and WLAN.
Can someone with an rooted G1 PM me the .apk file of PAC-MAN so I can install it?
Thanks,
Michael
I have had the same problem for 2 weeks, I figured it was cuz Im on at&t.
try downloading it aagain.. i just downloaded it now and it worked
Just tried again and said I cant because I didnt pay.
In case you still need it, it's in your PM box.
I threw just the apk on my SDcard and installed it from there. Thank you for your help!
where are the Market place apps stored, I want to keep that one incase they charging when the market place starts to charge.
Most are stored in /system/app
Pac-Man was in /system/app-private
If you want to make backups, ASTRO (the file manager) can make backups to the sd-card for most apps.
I was hoping someone could PM me the file for Pac-Man as well? Maybe it is because we are on AT&T as the other poster mentioned.
Would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks!

Don't be sad my friend, cheer up. Its now in the Android Market and it is extremely fun! Everyone should go and download it right this moment if you haven't downloaded the new and improved version. Only problem is that it has ads, but the game is wonderful and its free so why complain right?

it's a possibility, other types of phones running CM6 have had issues finding it in the market or getting it to install. It worked perfect for me this morning when I got my e-mail from Rovio, however both my wife and I still don't have it show up in the market and we are both running CM6 based ROMs.
edit : just a side note, maybe it's just my phone but running the Dopio v3.5 844MHz OC kernel I had to "dumb down" processor to 600 MHz or keep my play time to under 30 min any longer than that would cause the battery to get hot enough to lock up the phone where I had to pull battery and reboot

Please make sure you know what you are doing before you end up with a brick. First there is no jailbreaking in android. Second you can find what you are looking for under settings about phone. And dont assume it is the newest version cause you bought it today. Alot of the device being sold still have 2.1 on them and not 2.2. So do yourself a favor and save some grey hairs and do a few hours of research before you do anything.

No not all apps are free. Even if you root it the apps will still cost depending on the apps. I am not sure of the games that you can get as like i said I dont play games on it. As for the themes they are mostly for custom roms and few will work on a stock rom.
Once again before you do anything head over to the dev section and read up or you will end up with a paper weight.
The problem here is that you cannot jailbreak your phone.

He is right. Jailbreaking doesnt appy here. What you need to do is root and enable non market apps.
There's no ds emulator, only gba, ps1, snes, etc, but no n64. Also we don't talk about getting paid apps for "free" here since its...illegal :0. 2.2 is "froyo". We pretty much call it "rooting" and not jailbreaking. Once you root your captivate, you can install custom roms and you can make your homescreen flashy without having to even root it if you want. Android is wayyyy more customizable than iphone(sounds like you are coming from that)

The reason it wont work is because you dont have root. Here is a link to some reading. I implore you toread up. If you go to fast you are gonna be real mad when your phone wont even boot up anymore. if it is 2.2 then yes it is froyo.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887525
Start here.
Go to settings-> about phone and look at the "firmware version" if its 2.1 then its "eclair", if its 2.2 then its "froyo". 2.3 is "gingerbread" and you don't have to worry about 2.3 until after your more acquainted with this whole rooting business.(don't try getting gingerbread right now)

Gameloft games after changing roms

Does anybody know if I can download gameloft games that I bought as much time as I want? For example, if I change rom, can i download it again?
If you got them from the market, yes you can. When you sign back in after the flash. The apps you have purchased will show under "my apps " and you just re download them

Hmm, you get a download link in the mail from gameloft (or in the sms)
So there shouldnt be any problem with that.
Anyway just tried to download avatar again I purchased earlier. And worked.
Rom shouldnt have to do anything with the game. (as I bought it on Froyo and now I have GB)
dont understand this though
Gameloft's policy is that if you buy a game, you can re-download it on the same device with the same phone number within the 90 days of your purchase. To re-download your game, go to http://gameloft.com on your mobile and click on the 'My Downloads' link at the bottom of the page. You will see the list of all the games you purchased so far that you can re-download. If you purchased your game on our website on your pc using your credit card, enter the 'My Account' section at the top of this page and re-download your game(s) after signing in.

Well make a nandroid with the game on it. (Tit backup too) . Go new rom. try to download. If it wont work restore with tit backup. If that wont work. you still have the old nandroid.
Anyway ask them if you arent sure
PS: Just for a game not to update ? Doesnt make sense for me
Just go to their website and use their online tool for re downloading games. If that don't list your game then email them and they will send you a link via sms.
I have done this a couple of times now.

Seriously write them? I downloaded it after 4/5 months.
Also once on the phone you know you can back it up right? You can restore it from there tit backup. Just try? Nandroid for good measure.
I think they honor any purchase up to 3 years or something. After I put on gingerbread JVK, I asked them for a fresh link to download NOVA which I had purchased last august.
Though NOVA still doesn't work, they did give me another game for free.
Very good service

ive been using the product since 2009, on my g1. a few years ago, hurricane sandy took my galaxy nexus(nexus prime), and someone sent me a used one as a gift. so, i signed on and restored my old apps on it from a previous nandroid. one of the apps was sd maid, but a really old version from several years back. anyways, the developer sent me an email after a day of using my old apps, he highly recommend that i update it, and was curious as to why i havent updated. so i replied to him, telling him the whole story. it was rather humorous actually, and i did never expect a developer to contact me about updating an app. the app let him know that i was using it.

I think it was more like you accidentally send an email through the contact support button which includes version the version information. This happened quite a lot on the old versions. Never found out exactly why, i suspected that instead of canceling the mail window that was just opened, most people accidentally send the mail. That or the default mail app didn't work well with the prefilled textfields and just send the mail without letting anyone type in it...
Anyways, just wanted to mention that SD Maid is not sending any personal data "home"!
You're all anonymous to me :good:.
