You paste them into the drawables folder in the framework-res. After you are done copy the framework to the CM ROM in system/framework and resign the update. Then you can apply it in recovery.
EDIT: This is only for the graphics that are in framework-res. Some are in the Launcher.apk and the individual icons are stored in each individual apk in system/app
Just copy and paste.

Black Status Bar: Ask All Questions Here

If you have any questions regarding my Black Status Bar Mod (Find it here), I have created a thread in which I can answer. The Black Bar Mod is for CyanogenMOD, but if there are requests for some other ROMs, please let me know.
just a random question: is there a tool that allows me to create my own bar without creating a whole theme? i want a bar that combines the elements of several different ones from diff ROMs..
Doc, are you gonna update your mod with Anderweb's new froyo launcher?
Login Screen disappears.
My login screen disappears after flashing the CM5.07 .zip file. Just to let you know. However i think i was supposed to metamorph the theme....
this is more of a request, but could u make a flashable bar for CM5.0.7test6? like the one in BlueDark? this is what it looks like:

That is just the bar from my old Blue Haze theme.
ok.. right now i'm running Test6 with SuperBad1.2.5.. can i flash the BlueDark over that to get the bar? furthermore, will the launcher stay the same? i really like the smooth launcher in SuperBad
Make a metamorph with the status bar images in framework-res, then in CM5.0.7 test 7 you can change the text color in the status bar via spare parts.
in the new spareparts where we select text colors. what does the "SPN & PLMN" labels refer too?

The Blackbar is now a Metamorph so updates for every version are no longer needed. Just download Metamorph & install.

Ginger DX = Framework-res.apk

Hello Guys over XDA's...is ginger-DX cant be edited framework-res.apk like xml's and png?...and metamorphing caught me to a boot loop??,,,any ideas?
You can to decompile framework-res.apk using apktool or apkmanager
GingerDx uses T-mobile theme. Download one of them and if you want to edit the default framework what you have to theme is not the usual framework-res.apk but the SystemUi (or something like that) app in system/app. Then you push back the modified app to system/app. You can use apktool to modify the theme.

In that case, just install and apply that theme,then go to gingerdx setting to set the statusbar transparency to theme and reboot
Not all launcher can have transparent statusbar,
If you're using launcher pro,you should use live wallpaper to get the transparent statusbar
I suggest you use zeam launcher

i am talking bout editing the framework-res..whr did u go to?
Sorry,thought you only need transparent statusbar
Just like i've said before,you can use apktool to decompile framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
You need java installed on your pc first
But gingerdx already have a feature for transparent statusbar
I've tried it and it works,but i found a lil bug on date when pull down the statusbar

here's i made the patch for GingerDX v.007
1. apply theme that support transparent statusbar like MIUI or Meizu
2. go to gingerdx setting and set statusbar transparency to theme
3. reboot to CWM Recovery and flash statusbar_patch.zip
i only patch the centered clock and modified pulled down statusbar because GDX already have feature for transparent statusbar

ICS - Little theming but doesn't work

Hello, I'm pretty noob on theming...
I have a HTC Desire with a custom ICS ROM, no problem
I want to change some status bar notification icons:
- Icon for GPS
- Icon for new mail from gmail
- Icon for new chat message
- Icon for missed call
So I extracted the apk framework-res.apk from the system/framework directory via ADB
In the apk, I replaced the files:
\res\drawable-hdpi\stat_sys_gps_on.png
\res\drawable-hdpi\stat_notify_chat.png
\res\drawable-hdpi\stat_notify_missed_call.png
\res\drawable-hdpi\stat_notify_gmail.png
with my custom icons
then I pushed back the framework-res.apk at his place
Problem: Only the GPS icon is replaced... where did i messed up ?
Best regards

Not every image will be found in the framework-res.apk so you need to pull apart a few apks to find the image you're after.
Thanks,
Oh I see... it's strange because I actualy found the images in framework-res.apk
So they are in another file too... I'm going to look for them
I someone knows the place to look for...

I don't own an HTC device so I don't know off the top of head, but Im pretty sure the other apk is called HTC resources or something.

There are lots of images in there that aren't used by the system for whatever reason, so while they may look the same, doesn't mean it's what you're looking for.

But much more rewarding to find it by yourself.
I looked into ALL the apks of the ROM and can't find others files corresponding :-/
But you're not using a theme, right? :laugh:
These icons are normally located in framework-res.apk/systemui.apk/any device specific resource file.
Do you looked into systemui? There should be at least the icons, even if they're not used.

No, I'm not using a theme, I just want to change 4 statut bar icons
And yes I looked into systemui, but the icons are not inside
The gmail icon will need to be changed in the gmail.apk have you looked in there?

try looking in the contacts or phone apks for missed call, gmail in gmail and chat in talk....
if they are not in the framework or system ui....they are in the apk that controls the image being used.....

missed call is in framework. make sure you are coding it right and that the file names matched.
in android.xml
Code:

@drawable/stat_notify_missed_call

i found the google talk chat icons in the drawable-xhdpi folder in the Talk.apk
your xml for that should be com_google_android_talk.xml
Code:

@drawable/stat_notify_ongoing_audio_chat

@drawable/stat_notify_ongoing_video_chat

@drawable/stat_notify_talk_audio

@drawable/stat_notify_talk_text

<item name="drawable/stat_notify_talk_video

shure there is, pull out the framework-res.apk out of the system/framework folder from the rom zip. change the icons that you want to change (find them at a hdpi folder, don't know the exact name atm). don't unzip the rom or the apk, just open it, change the icons and push them into the folders.

I will upload a decompiled systemui and you can browse through it and see where everything is but most will be in res\drawable-xxxhdpi-v4 on a stock Note 4 rom and the icons in the status bar start with "stat_sys"
here is the file its in zip format but is not usable so just unzip its from 5.1.1-N910W8VLU1COK3 but all are pretty much the same, also if you want to change colours and position of icons you will need to decompile the apk easiest program I have ever used is Tickle My Android which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633333
systemui zip is here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24415232478675087
Hi...understood, thanks for the answers.
I also digged my hands in apkstudio, apk signing and zipaliging processes and managed to achieve thos and even tweak some aps
