Hello to everyone you know if HTC roadmap has a new version of ROM for the Touch HD. I have installed the latest available, but I saw that for the new PDA HTC has released new features. You believe that will be available in a new official ROM? Thanks Tony
No new features! There will only be some bug fixes and even this is not certain!

Apple is the only company which provides new features to you devices after they sold there devices. No other vendor provide even a bug fixed release correctly. It's not hardware that making apple win the market it's there Operating System, Regular Bug Fix Release, Regular new Features release, Standard way of using devices (iTunes), Standard way of hacking apple devices (Jailbreak).
By seeing HTC Touch HD most of them thought this phone has high specs than iphone and high price than iphone so it surely be more advance device than iphone. But those who brought iphone are happly enjoying new games every day new application every hour and those who brought Touch HD (even after 1 year) still trying to make this device better with new application ones in a month or two and new games ones in 6 months or more.

What are you taking victoradjei. HTC might release 2 or 4 more devices with same specs as HTC Touch HD with new manila and make money. Why it will care about a device which is already sold?
it's pretty obvious...if HTC were to release new updates / features for Touch HD you would see them by now...I was disappointed by the lack of updates by HTC for a high-end device, honestly i was expecting more from HTC and if isn't for the wonderful support / ROM / apps from XDA, i wouldnt have chosen HD over iphone...
Query answered, thread closed.
I don't want this to turn into another.....why don't HTC allow free updates/upgrades etc like Apple??

I am new to this XDA and am awaiting my time for renewel to get the HD2 - this will be in January which means I will be about 2 or 3 months away from the release of WinMo 7. My question is about the HD2 and the possibility of it being able to upgrade to the new OS out next year.
Also when MS releases minor updates to the WinMo OS how do you get them to your phone.
I am probably asking simple questions but this seems a great place to ask and get a straight answer.

Hi Scott
Minor updates through windows update on the phone;
Re. Windows 7 nobody really knows if they will be able to upgrade to the official version. The hardware seems to be there so it depends on if HTC will release an updated Rom for it (assuming your provider has not put their own customised one on the phone in which case in which case you are reliant on them as the HTC Roms won't work.
On the other hand I am sure that after a little while you will be able to find a rom here that you can flash to if you want to and are brave enough to.
A rule of thumb I have for myself to evaluate the probability of an official ROM upgrade from HTC is this:
If a new OS version comes out within 6 months of a device release then you have a good chance to get an upgrade. So if WM7 is released in Q1 2010 then we may get it.
HTC got the habit of releasing their flagship devices right before the Christmas shopping season. This means that by this time in 2010 we're very likely to get an HD3, and HTC won't spoil the show by giving a second life to their by that time outdated cash cow. So WM7 in Q4 2010 equals no upgrade for sure.
Q3 2010 = not likely at all, but not impossible
Q2 2010 = not likely, but possible.
Something like that. Now if somebody can pick their HD2 and give a call to Steve Ballmer and ask when WM7 is going to be out we can continue the guessing game with more data than we have now.

I suspect the only reason the Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 got 6.5 was that by the time it came for a US release, 6.5 was about to hit and they'd looking stupid with a "premier" device with 6.1 being outdaded in weeks. Of course then they had to give it to the rest of the world...
I put the chance of an official WM7 upgrade at about 1%.. and that's including a 1% chance of Microsoft forcing their hand. WM7 and the HD3 (or otherwisenamed spiritual successor) will both hit in about 12 months.

Actually that is one of the things the iphone has going for it - It has changed so little from when it was originally released that other than the size of the drive they are really very similar (most of the changes being available to existing phones through os updates).
Actually - come to think of it I don't know if that is really an advantage or just boring!

Yup it's the other side of the coin. They have the stability of platform implementation that WinMo lacks, but that stability leads to stagnation. Developers know 100% what the target platform will be (well maybe a little faster, an added feature here and there, but essentially a keyboardless portrait HVGA device) but it also means that the consumer will never have the option of one of the countless form factor options available on WinMo.
Stability vs. flexibility. Both have their pros and cons and you only get to pick one. Microsoft & Google have gone one way, Apple the other. It's good that we have the choice.
Indeed it is
[Q] Why HTC LOVE not to upgrade the previous HTC Devices even though they are able to support the software??
Because they can sell new phones.
Have patience.
htc is actually one of the better companies when it comes to upgrades on older phones. I hear sony or motorola customers get no love.
I guess being better doesn't translate to being good at updating previous models. It's all about making a sale.

Cause if every single HTC device have right of upgrade, what's the point of new devices from HTC ? This forces people to buy new products. Hope you understant
like i said, it's all about the sale
They sell a device, support a few updates for a while, perhaps after that one or two updates spread out, then they do focus on the sale of newer devices almost exclusively.
HTC is better than some companies, and at least they have made lots of hardware that can support better software, because we can enjoy the great work of independent developers like those on xda to give us lots of options. We don't have to rely on HTC that way!
Go open source!

I will be happy if HTC just gives out drivers to stop the camera lag in AOSP ROMs, that's all I ask
I found that app in sensation forum...it is force closing on all the roms except virtuos unity one. It won't even run on the IS official sense 3.0 update.
Anyone knows how we can port it???
You should be happy, as HTC is actually releasing updates...go to Huawei or Motorola...the phone sells and dies with the same Rom. You'll find all sorts of unofficial Roms, but not from the manufacturers.
So, HTC is doing quite all-right, not as good as Google (from obvious reasons) but not as bad as Huawei or Motorola.
OK. once again regarding this app, does anyone have any idea how to port it?
i have the sensation qhd .apk of this app.
any one willing to resize this app for wvga?

No, it's Sense 3.6. OTA means Over-The-Air which means you can update your phone without wiping. It's not the whole ROM, It's just a bunch of new files. I hope you get that despite my bad explanation

If HTC keep upgrading us to the latest versions of sense/android, we will have no reason to upgrade to a newer phone
Also, they are not making any money on these upgrades, just keeping us happy who have bought the phone a year or so ago

Nowhere to be found in Canada either.
Oh well. I have my HD Revolution, so Bell's lack of updating isn't an issue for me.
Now that Google has announced they will be selling a GSM Samsung S4 through the android market starting in June, what are your thoughts on which to get?
I purchased my HTC T-Mobile version last week. Took a while to adjust to Sense, and actually have 'desensed' it a bit by using Nova Launcher instead. It's a pretty phone, but I do miss some of the stock Android features of my GNex. Actually, it may be that since the GNex has had quite a bit of development, there are some nice tricks I can use with it that haven't been developed for the HTC One yet (i.e. PGM swipe to wake).

Sadly, its not true based on this source
Update: Jeff Gordon of HTC just sent us the following message, “HTC is not currently planning a ‘Nexus Edition’ of the HTC One.”

Is there any developers that are interested in porting the android L developer preview over to the m7wls? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants this. I wouldn't immagine it would be insanely hard but maybe that's just me. thanks in advance.

Don't get your hopes up.
The initial reports were wrong. Its only partial source (people are speculating for GPL compliance) and that it will not be enough to make a full custom rom. Haven't looked myself but this is what I heard
Good News
Devs for the GSM HTC One have finally gotten L to boot :victory:
This is nowhere near a daily driver: "WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, Data and Sound doesn't work" and it would need to be ported to sprint for us to use. But its a start! Hopefully we'll get something to play with soon.

The L port they cooked up for the M7 basically "works", as in booting up. Though going into settings force closes:angel: every time. If you at least want to try it. Knock your self out. Just make sure to back up to save yourself the trouble.
