is this possible? Have lost mine after a recent flash and having trouble syncing .... I can see a data.img in a previous backup, could I combine that with a current backups files and get them back?
Look into fastboot, what you eventually need to do is re-flash your userdata partition:
Code:
fastboot.exe flash userdata data.img
EDIT: Removed my rude "Try Searching" comment, forgot I was in the Q&A Forum
I did search, honest!
Thanks for that
Is Google smart enough to know which contact details are more recent than others? If I restore my entire phone from a Nandroid backup, will the older contact information from the phone overwrite the newer contact details in my Google account?

I ran into something similar. I had edited my contact info and not done a sync. Did a nandroid backup, then had a crash.
Did a nandroid restore, then synced and my contact info was merged. I had two of some contacts, so I just went to Google online and did the merge option from there. It's faster there than on the phone and then you can sync that back down to your phone.
Hope that helps somehow.. confusing when I read it again, but I know what I was trying to get across... hopefully it worked, lol
Yeah, I just went through a whole bunch of contacts and cleaned them up, merged them, etc in Gmail a few days ago. The phone was in sync, but then it locked up, so now I'm using a backup from a week ago. I don't want it to sync with old info and then have to go through and merge all that stuff again. :/
unfortunately, you sound like you're boned...
I have over 200 contacts so its not too bad when 20 or so go all weird on me
can't imagine having to do all 200. that would suck

Not unless it overwrites them. I haven't connected to Wi-Fi yet, so it hasn't done anything. Oh! I could wipe Google data in Titanium and then sync.

Hello I was wondering if someone can help me. I download Cyanogenmod 6.1.2 which was a good mod for my first. I thought I was doing everything correctly, rooted my phone for the first time. I was following steps on how to access the ROM I recently downloaded, but unfortunately upon installing the rom I wiped my cache and data without backing up my Nandroid. Now everything is gone, I lost my contacts, all my data and on top of that I dont have GMAIL to restore my contacts nor do I have the MARKET.
If someone could help me I would appreciate it, or even provide me with a link in which I can restore my phone back to a default setting so I can start over. I tried looking through the forums, and I couldn't find anything. I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places, or subforums.
Thank you.
I don't have your answer, not a droid user, but I can tell you that it's probably a very easy fix. Don't sweat it. Your contacts and gmail aren't stored on your phone.

Well I found out that my contacts were saved VIA gmail, so I found most of my contacts. For the most part I'm worried if I damage my phone in any way, by that I mean losing the Market application in which I can't find when I google market.apk

Did you flash the GoogleApps? With CMx you need to flash it after you flash CM. Google apps include account settup, googla apps downloader, market, etc
When you set you account up you will see your contacts again
The phone is not damaged at all! Stay chill )... As eXtink said, you just need to download Google Apps, put the .zip file in the update folder and run it from Androidiani, just as you did with the ROM. Here's the link (choose the one for HDPI devices). Have a nice day!
HI there
i recently restored my phone after flashing a different rom. everything went well and i restored almost everything using titanium backup. i clicked for "install missing apps and data" but unfortunately i could not restore my phone contacts. my contacts are also not synced with gmail. please help?
Did you click on the button in the top middle to bring up the list of programs, and restore contacts then reboot?(assuming you backed it up of course). Cause all it sounds like you did was that batch restore of MISSING apps. The contacts.apk was included so it didn't get restored.
i'm curious about this too. I dont need to restore my contacts but I've installed custom roms for a few friends who didnt have their contacts sync'd with gmail and after restoring what I thought was the contacts, it didnt actually restore.
so I've had this problem before, too. I'm curious to hear from someone who successfully restored phone contacts from TiBu.
Always sync your contacts with Google
I never used TiBu for contacts or calendar entries.

Not sure if this thread is dead or not but I just flashed my brother's phone and used TiBu to restore missing apps + data. For contacts I tried restoring [Contacts/Calls] Storage 2.2, rebooted and still nothing. I dont know what else can I do now. Is there any way I can pull the information out manually from TiBu backup files? I opened com.android.providers.contacts-20110625-144656.tar.gz and noticed the raw data is in the files. Any ideas would be helpful....
Thanks!

Did he sync contacts with his Google account? If so sign into Gmail from the phone and sync. I use the Backup with Gmail from the market to backup calls and texts too. All of my call history, contacts, and texts are synching with my Gmail, works great.

Restart the phone after restoring apps and system data.
When it comes to backing up my contact list I'm Old School. I still do it the same way I did on my Palm OS device. Export to a vCard file (*.vcf). Since android still has that feature I occasionally make a backup of my contacts as a *.vcf and copy it to my SD card, PC or dropbox. However, after reading this post I gave it a try and successfully restored my contacts, txt messages, call logs etc with TiBu. After a restore (I was able to confirm that the 'Restore missing apps + all system data' batch restore will restore your contacts etc. However they don't show in your contact list after a restore. You can try to force close the Contacts and Contact storage from the 'Manage Applications' -> 'Running' screen, and when you restart your contacts after that they should appear. However tried and true method is the simplest.
=> Do a Re-boot.
I tried it successfully four times and doing a restart of the phone worked the best, smoothest and easiest. Then all my contacts were successfully restored.
I performed this on a I897 running FireFly 3.0.2.2 (Froyo based ROM) I used the latest version of TiBu 3.9.0.1 free version and made sure that busybox was updated to 1.18.4
If you're worried about TiBu not working, exporting your contacts to a *.vcf file does give you a nice file that you can then import natively into Android and most other mobile OS. (I've personally verified that *.vcf works on Pantech and Lg messaging phones, Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Thunderbird, Outlook)

Yea, don't use TiBU to restore any system apps like contacts or messaging ESPECIALLY when changing roms/android os versions.
I would recommend backing up ur contacts to your google account. Also, see if u can find a .vcf file in your TiBU backup
hi
just wanted to throw this question out to the community - I have selected the option to Backup my phone's application/data profile to Google.
now, even though I have uninstalled some applications from my phone, the next time I flash a rom, they pop right back in.
Is there any way I can check on Google what is the data that has been backed up and manually edit/remove those applications so that they don't keep getting re-installed.
thanks.

i dont believe it backs up app data. If you want to backup app/game data for when you are flashing a new rom, get titanium backup

I've looked around on google and my phone and cant find anything. I THINK what you should do, next time you flash a new rom is make sure you sync your phone with google so that your uninstalled apps will register in their server as uninstalled and therefore wont install next time just a hunch though.

disregard my previous post, i read the question wrong :S
unfortunately i dont think there is a way to do what you are wanting to do ive done some googling and looked through my phne to find nothing :|
What you can do to avoid the apps from re-installing is to not select the 'sync' option when you insal a new ROM in the 'first settings' .
Once the rom has booted up completely then when you goto 'accounts & sync' with gmail, only contacts and the selected choices will be synced, not the apps.
can't backup data or game in google account
Both times I tried a 7.x based rom, once I re-connected my google account, only some of my accounts came back. I'm guessing that somehow the contacts that were loaded onto my phone originally were loaded as "phone only" rather than as google contacts. Is there a way to get CM7.20 to recover them? I've made a few Titanium backups and haven't wiped my SD card other than that one path that gets wiped by clockwork when you wipe before flashing. Thanks.
Mod Edit : not development Moved to Q & A .Pls post in appropriate thread
sorry, this is the wrong section for you to post this.
the best course of action is to repost in general or q/a, or ask a mod to move this thread there.
but until someone moves this thread there, were your contacts synced with your google account? because if you just flashed a rom without manually (or googally for lack of a better term) backing them up, sorry guy, they are gone
in the future, when you add contacts, the list will pop up that says sync with google account or phone only (unsynced). choose sync to google account, or find a 3rd party app on the market and back them up that way.
Yeah, they were synched with my google account, but I'm guessing that when my phone was initially loaded with contacts from my previous phone, they were loaded as "non-google" contacts so those didn't synch. If they weren't stored on the SD card, I realize that they're gone, but maybe they end up on the card. I asked a mod to move this to Q/A. Hopefully someone knows this answer. I still have my old phone (Razr), so I guess I could import the contacts from that again, but I'm sure I'll lose a lot of info that was updated and add in a lot of stuff I'd deleted. Hopefully the contacts are on my Hero's sd card somewhere in a retrievable format.

Before you flashed CM7.2, did you make a nandroid of your original setup? If you did then just nandroid back to that and make sure to resync those contacts that are phone-only to your google account. And then re-flash whichever CM7 rom you plan on using.

Yes, but I'd rather not go through all that. Can I make a new nandroid of my current setup and then go back to a previous nandroid? Hopefully there's just a way to read the backed up contact list so I can import that or something. It's not a ton of numbers, but I don't want to lose them all. Thanks.
Hello everyone,
Just updated my actual version to the latest weekly xiaomi eu rom and I lost all my notes (only).
I tried to sync and did not obtain them.
Is there any way to recover them? Tried with some software without success...
Thanks in advance,
Regards.
Anyone in the same situation?
You didn't make a backup of your data partition by any chance?
Or synced them anywhere in the cloud?
Or used Titanium Backup or alike?
What do you mean with losing notes only?
Is data from (all) other apps still there?
Maybe a detailed flashing procedure explanation would also help.
Although I think if you did neither of the backup solutions above, it looks a little hopeless...

Hello mate, thanks for reply.
I synced all with MIcloud, then upgrade xiaomi.eu version to latest (as always as did to keep all data).
Keep all data of all apps, contacts, images and so on.
Only notes app, it's empty, I started to sync and (seems a bug) all my data has been deleted.
I want to know if is possible to recover the notes...I did not use any backup solution because I always kept my data when upgrade in this way.
Anyone can assist on this? Thanks in advance guys.
Hey, I also thought for once that since I haven't synced my account so my notes might not have saved anywhere.
But I was wrong....
Rather than looking on my trash from the notes app...
I rather go on the chrome browser, log into my Mi account & BOOM !!!
All my notes were there.. Thnx me later
I have always synced my Notes with Mi Cloud and always lost my notes while I factory reset or updated etc because the mi account doesn't retrieve and recover your data back. I logged in to my mi account on browser and it shows empty apps, nothing there, no sync files.
actually there is nothing like Cloud Backup without paid subscription although in my own sense I was always backing up my data to later recover. They want money to backup your data.
HELP]
I lost all my notes, sync with micloud does not retrieve any.
The notes are shown on web version but not synced on the app.It thorws an error(check screenshot)
Device :RN9S rooted Curtana.
