I dont know what happened i was trying to flash the new heros and when ever i pressed mount when connected to the computer itd immediately say at the top checking for errors and preparing sd card and go back to usb connected screen with mount or do not mount? what is going on xda? btw i flashed a rom yesterday successfully
Sound like a corrupted card.
1. Try mounting it with card reader
2. Reboot your phone and try again
3. Toggle "Enable debugging on/off and try again
4. Format your card
If nothing works......
5. Buy new card
Good luck

Hi guys,
First off I want to say this site is great in what it is doing for the mobile phone world! This is my first post and I am a noob so be gentle haha! Well ok, i've messed up my g1 phone and its almost bricked. I think I have identified two problems:
Problem 1:
I was trying to partition my sd card using a method from a site called theunlockr.com. Where they used the apps2sd software:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_7n1g8jXgY
After performing the procedure, my 2 gig sd card cannot be read on my computer (comes up with "insert disc") and cannot be read on my phone as well. My SD card is completely wiped and I tried formatting it again but it still cannot be read.
Problem 2:
I tried to reboot my phone and now it gets to g1 tmobile screen but no further. To turn the phone off I have to take out the battery.
I can get into the recovery utility using the pwr and home buttons so I do not believe it is bricked, but as my computer cannot read the sd card, I am not able to copy any roms to make any progress.
My question is whether if after buying a new sd card and formatting it, can I simply reflash of my ROM by doing "alt & S" to make it work? The reason why I ask is whether I should simply send it back to TMob and play dumb to get a new phone or buy a new sd card and usb reader.
I am looking at it too simply and there is more to it? E.g have I messed around too much and damaged the file system links etc on my phone. Will a reflash of the cynogen rom using the recovery utility completely reset my phone and get me passed the boot screen loader to the operating system?
I had the following set up on my phone:
Firmware: Cyanogen 4.02
Recovery Image: 1
Recovery Utility build: JF v1.43
Thanks for your input!
Mepow!
Reflashing your phone if you messed up partion it will not work, if you pop out your sdcard and then try to boot it prob will, try a card reader and format and repartion or you can try recovery console and type ums_enable to try to mount your sd card while connect usb to your computer and try to format it that when and when you are done type ums_disable and then type reboot to reboot the phone
thanks tried that in the recovery console but it came up with
"ubs_enable not found". My computer unfortunately does not recognise the sd card.
You gotta type ums_enable not ubs as you said in the last post
....now in the notification bar i get this message, "Damaged SD card" you may have to reformat it".
Is there a work around for this? Can't backup to pc because when i plug in the usb cable i'm not given the option to mount. Only the triangle w/ the exclamation point comes up, that says "USB debugging connected".
Besides reformatting the card, is there anything i can do on the phone itself to correct this problem?
Thanks in advance.
if got a micro usb adapter use that to get whats needed out of the sdcard and format it.. best method i kno to go by
....................................
yeah.....i'm up on that. i've actually had 2 use that method b4. but i'm here @ work w/o my adapter. was hoping there was something else i could try.
thanks anyway. i appreciate it.
fsck.vfat can be used to repair broken vfat partitions.
I never unmount anything b4 pulling the usb cable. Never happened anything!! The only time i had to unmount a device was on a pc of someone who had a very old or broken version of xp. There, any new data disappeared after pulling the usb-stick out.
Really weird ...
But, if u have another card OR you can use the partion fix of amon ra's recovery, or am i wrong???

Tried to repair/fix ext using Amon Ra. Didn't try "partition fix". May have to try that.
THE REASON THE CABLE GOT PULLED IN THE FIRST PLACE...RUNNING TO A MEETING AND JUST SNATCHED IT OUT. REALIZED LATER THAT IT WAS MOUNTED. AND I never never never ever do that. Except when i was working on a friend's old computer.
Have a 32B. It broke, so I swapped the insides of that one into another G1. The G1 boots into recovery, there's no ROM flashed on the Phone. I tried to mount the SD to PC. It shows that there's a disc connected. But it wont open it. The SD card will mount in my other phones, and connect to the PC via USB, USB dongle, and SD Adapter. I can't flash ROM's via recovery. All i get is this error:
Build : RA-dream-v.1.7.0
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0
p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(No such file or directory)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:
So I was like meh, I'll flash the ROM via ADB
ADB Isn't working either
just saying "device not found".
Anybody have any clue what this means?
Here's something to try:
Back up all the stuff on your SDCard to your computer using USB.
Unmount the SDCard from the computer.
Go to Settings/SD card, and unmount the card and select format.
(at this point I would turn on your WiFi if you have is to facilitate the faster Rom download your about to to, but it's not necessary)
Go to Rom Manager and select download Rom, and choose the one you want.
If its a cyanogen one, you will be asked to install google apps (gapps), Yes. Backup Current rom, Yes
When asked to reboot to install the Rom, Yes
If all this works out, replace you stuff on to your SDCard
Good luck, and let me know how you make out!
That would work, but my board has no ROM flashed on it. Can't access SD Card in Recovery. Can't push the rom to data with ADB.
Man, here's two way for this situation:
1. (Good) You just updated your radio in a wrong way. Try to do this right
2. (Bad) Your phone now is just a brick. You can use it like a hammer
Hope, your way is first. Try to reinstall radio, bootloader etc.

my g1 doesnt detect memory card....but dats because the thing that reads the sd card is loose but if i press on the bottom of the phone it reads...you could try that..but again you will have to keep on pressing on the bottom so that it flashes the entire rom works for me.
one question though how do you flash a rom via adb???
I know for a fact it's not bricked. It's just I took the board from my 1st G1, 2708+ and Everthing. Worked perfectly. Then i just put it inside a "New" G1 b/c that on didn't boot. The G1 boot's into Recovery, just wont access SD card. I hate my iPhone Xo that's the only phone I currently have. Don't let meh use iOS YoY.
I'll post Pic's soon. All I have is a ****ty 3G, and it's not on iOS so no autofocus. Unless a blurry cam pic can help. Otherwise I'll wait for the wife to get home with the Nokia.
Waiting for pictures!) А тут часом никто русский не затесался?)))
After every time I restart my phone and it turns back on my phone will never automatically mount my sd card, so I have to go into setting and manually mount it myself which normally isn't a problem but every once in a while my phone won't let me mount it, when i click on the mount sd card button, it goes to another screen that has a title Reset? and the whole screen is blank. I have reset the phone, taken the sd card out, I have done everything that has normally worked in the past to get it to remount but this time nothing will work. Has anyone else had this problem, or any suggestions how to fix it?
Thanks

Sorry, no help for you, but I have the same problem here. Started just a few days ago. I haven't made any changes to my settings that I know of that could have caused it. Anyone have any suggestions for getting back the ability to mount the SD card?
Yup, me too, just rooted my phone trying to get cifs manager (cifs.ko) installed and working with my win7 machine (no luck w/that yet either)... since then the external sdcard unmounts from time to time and restarting the phone requires a manual mount
Fixed?
What I had to do was basically move my entire sd card on to my computer then I formatted my sd card put only my necessary things back on there and it fixed it, stupid but it got it to mount right away...oh and I formatted it though the phone erase function not using the computer, so I didn't have to take the sd card out again.
Tried the erase all, but no luck... I suspect it's related to installing busybox... tried unistalling that without success too... would installing another ROM likely fix that, and if so any recommendations?
Talking about an HTC vivid
I'm having the same issue, except it partially mounts the external card (only shows a couple of folders but not the /music folder with 2100 songs along with 4-5 other folders)...Only way I have been able to fix it is to connect it to the PC as a disk drive then disconnect it, then all the folders "reappear".
If I put the card in my tablet I have no issues.
I tried a new card but the problem is still there.
Any help or suggestions?

Good Evening OP,
I had a problem like this earlier today. I finally rooted and flashed a new rom (PACman). I used CWM as my recovery, and apparently this is part of the issue. You need to use TWRP for your recovery instead. Their website is at http://teamw.in/project/twrp they have instructions located there on how to install TWRP onto your Vivid. I used the fastboot method, then changed the settings in the 'Mount' tab to mount SD Cart, Internal and Use External SD. Worked like a charm. And since it's touch based no more using the volume rockers and power button... Hope this helps! By the way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2109140 had the initial lead to install TWRP instead of CWM.
Hello everybody
i tried to connect it to another computer and could not so i switched to MSC mode to see if it reconogizes it, after that i think my cable failed because the LED went orange twice, then i realized it wont accept my SD CARD anymore, also i try to open dev mode and it crashed, i try to get in USB settings and it crashes too now on this computer it shows internal memory only
i did factory reset and the problem is still there, my phone is C5302 android 4.3 and stock firmware
EDIT: i tried with another sd card and nothing happens, when i go to storage it says mount so i go for it and a notification pops up saying checking for troubles with the sd card icon, it just hangs there nothing happens

You can try the following
1) Factory Reset the Device, of course back up your data first.
2) Flash a clean stock firmware, again make a backup of important data
3) Try using a different cable and make sure the drivers for your device are updated on the computer
Good luck
