Hi to all.
I am a new owner of a TyTN II and former owner of 9090 and S710. I would like which is the best calendar and phone manager (missed calls) application?
I don't know about phone manager, but as concerns calendar application, I think that SPB diary is probably the best....
I go with Spb Diary and Spb Phone Suite......
I use Agenda One. For me the best, Great piece of software !
maybe he means phone explorer ( phone manager )
if that is what it means so you have only one choice
resco explorer
I'll throw in the combo I like:
PocketInformant
http://www.pocketinformant.com/?p_id=pocketinformant
SBSH PhoneWeaver

SBSH PocketBreeze

Total Commander is a good free alternative for file managing
For calendar, Calendar+ is my preferred Today plugin. I bought pocketbreeze (which is similar to SPB Diary I think) when it was on special offer, but in the end I found I preferred Calendar+. I also tried TodayAgenda and, while it was good, it didn't suit me.
For missed call notifications (which seems to be missing in WM6), you might want to consider PhoneAlarm and SPB Phone Suite.

I've tried both SPB Diary and Pocket Informant. I think the second one is definately more customizable but I don't like the today screen that much and i have some problems with the GREEK language. I like the spb diary today plugin but it doesn't have links for emails and phone numbers on the appointments, so that I can call someone easily. Also when you open the appointment if the title is long you have to scroll with the arrows.. Is there a program that can combine these? I will give Agenda One a try!!
I am testing Agenda One now. It is probably the most useful application available.
I tried Agenda One, but found that it didn't have all of the features I wanted. Agenda Fusion is similar to Agenda One, but has more capabilities. Agenda Fusion is working great for me.
Oooops! I somehow double-posted.
Just curious. What do all these 3rd party calendar software have that Outlook doesn't. I've tried a few, and have always gone back to Outlook. It's nice and simple to use.
I dont call thumbcal the best , but as of now its suit my need. Very simple and finger friendly = what I want from a calendar.

I'm using this exact same set of S/W. Working well for me. PocketInformant has many better calendar views than PocketOutlook. PocketBreeze gives me flexible ways to put my calendar on my homescreen. If you go to a lot of meetings (and/or use Outlook to keep your personal calendar too) these types of views are very helpful.
Hello,
I've just tried Pocket Informant, which is very great, but it seems to not fit my necessity as I was expecting. It has "all" but what I need.
I simply need to set my "class" timetable for university. I don't want to use Excel or something similar. I thought something like pocket informant was the best one to do that, but it seems a little bit complicate. It also maybe I'm not able to use PI very well.
I also want to not use PI to view my contacts. Is there some place where I can select what PI should manage and what not? For example, I don't want Activities to be managed by PI. What to do?
Thanks a lot.
Call Calendar
One of the best ones I use, It logs all calls into your phones calendar, then will put it onto your outlook or exchange server as a private appointment.

Pocket Informant (the newest one) has settings called 'Roles' under which you can choose whether PI is the default app for calendar / tasks / contacts
Thanks a lot aberz! I'll try it as soon as possible!
EDIT: I've just tried it. That's really cool! Thank you!
...
Thank you rabdo, I'm going to look for that "role"... I hope to find it!! There are a lot of possible settings !!!
EDIT: I found it. It works very well now.
Bye!
I love Pocket Breezer, I've always used PB since I had MDA Vario and now I've got MDA Vario III but still using PB.

Another vote for SPB, a combination of SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Mobile Shell is superb. Today bundles together a few other things as well.
Are you willing to pay for software as these aren't free?
Spb Programs....worth every penny
I am running Spb Pocket Plus, Diary, phone, traveller & time (with Spb Backup as well)
Totally ditched TF3D as its only to get the girls (and I already gotta girl )
u can get skins for BatteryStatus (believe the name has changed) which show all the info u want... there is a big post full of them somewhere (think it is under Development and Hacking section).
yes I see that spb programs are very cool and I`m willing to pay for them.
Thanks
Hi everyone! I have my Raphael since November 2008 (man, time goes fast!) in replacement of a Palm Lifedrive. The PPC sistem is very nice, and I love my phone... the only thing I miss is the calendar/agenda sistem of the Palm OS, where you can separate your meetengs, etc by category and these are showed in the agenda in differents colors. I think this is VERY useful! I now using the GREAT and last version of ENERGY ROM (TP2 Manila xbmod), and this interface have a nice improvement in the TF3D with the CALENDAR TAB, but this "show" a "busy" day only by a white mark, and the WM6.1 calendar doesn´t have any colors to show in the Week or month view. So... my question /request is : Is there any way to tweak the TP2 manila or the WM6.1 default calendar so it could show different colors depending on different categories? or Is there another good software that replace the default agenda and has this feature?
...well , that´s it!, THANK YOU VERY MUCH !
PD: sorry my terrible english.... Chile present in an international forum!
I use pocket informant 8.... better cal app then the default.
SoBBie
Thank you! I´ll give it a try!
There's also Agendus that was on Palm and now is on Windows OS
http://www.iambic.com/agendus/wmppc/
thumbcal is very nice.
Actually if you are using Win. mobile 6.5 you will want to stay away from pretty much every 3rd party app until 6.5 is officially released. none of the 3rd party cal's have the information to update there software and many are creating (in my opinion) big issues with the cal. and the phone.
I was using 6.1 and PI worked great. I also liked SBSH Cal. touch but it was not as robust. BUT now that I upgraded to 6.5 I am trying to stay away from any of them since none fully work with it :'(
Thanks,
SoBBie

This is so true. I tried PI8 and SBSH. Neither worked right. However, Thumbcal is working like a champ.

I have been using Agenda Fusion 8 for a few years and find it to be, by far, the most productive app on my phone. It works fine on my 6.5 ROM. I can read and write current and new appointments and tasks with no problems at all. Frankly I was surprised to see that some other apps are not working with 6.5.
If you try Agenda Fusion 8, be sure to give it a good try. It has so much functionality that it takes a while to sort through what you will use and not use. The trial is 15 days. It has a great interface for tasks and appointements. It also has the ability to create templates for new appointments and tasks to speed repetitive entry on the go. The app is stylus based and not finger friendly, but as a business application to manage my Outlook data on my phone, I have never found anything that even comes remotely close, and I have tried several.
There are several that look better, but none that are more productive.

Hi,
In order to get an overview of my appointments in different colors I have the following setup:
- I use Oggsync to sync OTA my Google calendars (category is automatically assigned for each calendar)
- I've installed 'Manila Today Page' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508102%5C
- On the extra Manila page, obtained from MTP I've put TodayAgenda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2723505, which allows to display all of my appointments, with colors according to their category.
- I use Thumbcal to create appointments for it's 'finger-friendliness'.

AgendaFusion looks good but I dont think they ever made it touch friendly ... I will play with it again but pretty sure it is stylus based. PI8 and SBSH both are great for thumb use. PI8 has just as much functionality as AgendaFusion PLUS it has the touch feature which is very nice.
But that is my personal preferance. I want a thumb based organizer. ThumbCal works fine but I use tasks a lot and I dont know if it handles that (dont think so last I checked) but I may also take a look at that one.
Thanks,
SoBBie

You are absolutely correct. Agenda Fusion is not the least bit finger friendly. For me however, I can use the simple Today screen on 6.5 to see upcomming appointments. But if I really need to spend time with my calendar and tasks, I use Agenda Fusion. It works so well for me, that I do not even take my laptop home or on appointments. Everything I need is accessible through Agenda Fusion.
I did write to DeveloperOne a couple of months ago to see if a newer release is scheduled. They have stopped development becuase they already had so much functionality, there was really nothing left to do. So... no finger friendly versions are headed your way...
If I had a tool to do so, I would post screen shots, but I do not have anything.
Doug M.
Doug,
I am playing with agenda fusion... and yes, it is a good program. But, I would advice you to try PI8 again (wait till Windows Mobile 6.5 comes out and they update it). PI8 has at least as much functionality as AF but they were smart enough to make it touch freindly. I am not saying jump right into it but I would advice you to try it again. if you are still using a 6.1 ROM then I would suggest that you give it a try now... but as I said above if you are on 6.5 dont bother with it yet... but try it as soon as they build a version for it.
Have a great day,
SoBBie
Before switching to TD2, i used SPB mobile shell and I was very satisfied about that software
TF3D is so much like an eye-candy, but for the way I use WM phones, I prefer having multiple functions on one screen, provided that we can put lots of things at the same time on a 480x800 screen.
I hope both companies can come up with new version of their software to perfect user experiences. I look forward for this to happen more than seeing WM6.5 or WM7
what do you think? and sorry about my english
If you say so, I think PointUI HOME2 is much better suitable for you. You can have different theme, different arrangment of the screen. And the most important, it is free.
Current version of Spb Mobile Shell (3.01) still has issue in Diamond2. You may refer to Spb forum regarding those issue. I just wait for a more stable Mobile Shell version, just like the ancestor stable verion 2.15, to run in my Diamond2.
The moment I got my D2, I disengaged TF3D and use SPB MS 3.0. TF has just too many gestures to get where u want. SPB MS makes it easy to access the applications.
IMHO....
TF3D is an extremely unproductive UI. Contacts and calendar are the two most important things for business and TF3D is configuration limited scrolling hell.
With the calendar I can see today and tomorrow. It has a gimmicky month view but in all not very useful at all.
The contacts themselves within TF3D are annoying as I have to scroll even when in a contact to get to the option to view the standard WM full details because TF3D does not display what I want to see. By default finding a contact in TF3D is like having to win a game of Teeter first.
SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 is also very unproductive. It does not integrate with SPB Diary (not today plugin friendly) and amazingly does not even integrate with SPB Phone (try to turn rules on and off from the Shell!!!). You lose weather views and the easy moving between cities even if you have a licence for SPB Traveller!
The contacts screen from Mobile Shell 2.0 is the best I have seen. It has "dedicated contact names T9 search for any part of contact string" (very valuable feature).
The HTC dialer on the Topaz offers non-T9 name search only from the beginning of each word (vastly inferior to SPB Shell 2. Contacts) but it is still quite usable.
In a choice of TF3D vs SPB MS3.0 vs no shell I would choose no shell.
Maybe install SecondToday. Put your calendar (something like TodayAgenda or SPB Diary) on the second Today screen. Put your calls/e-mail/messages, program launcher, music player and weather application plugins on the front page.
We should be able to use specialist programs for functionality that is important to us. The above 2 shells exclude the ability to mix and match what we want. For many people they will not allow a UI that suits their lifestyle.
Why did we want a WM phone in the first place?
We may as well be choosing above between Nokia and Motorola. These shell providers could do better and they should!
IMHO
I've had no problems with SPB shell 3. It works great. I have all the other spb shell apps and they all work great! It's nice to be able to have 2 different types of today screens. and the lifestyle today screen is great. one page for media, one for phone controls/tools and one for games and 'other'
it's much better than touchflo
Ich switched from TF to Mobile Shell and i think Mobile Shell delivers what i expected from TF...
I prefer shell than TF3D too. I usually get to what I want faster...
Mobile Shell 3 interfere HTC dialer
If you look at the following thread in Spb forum, you may find one of Mobile Shell issue in Diamond2:
http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25814
You just cannot tap the left bottom "Contact" button in the default (HTC) dialer to open contact.
Maybe we could all get back to the old and ultimate WisBar
Regards,
Carty..

yes, this is very annoying to me. I like the phone suite for the sound profiles that you can set including the automatic. Why can't I put that plug in on a main screen of the shell?
I'm also very annoyed how the custom layouts get all messed up in landscape. for the most part sbp mobile shell 3 is pretty good.
Hello everyone,
I just bought a Omnia 2 and I'm planning to get an ultra-ultra-lite 6.5.5 ROM as I really don't like most of the Samsung stuff.
My intention is to get a "off the shelf" UI manager. I've been looking into PointUI and SPB Mobile Shell mainly. I also have seen Vito Winterface and some custom stuff like xda Touch Flo 3D.
Can someone provide a short review on those?
My concerns:
1) Don't get a laggy device because of the UI
2) Do not loose all the memory on the UI management.
3) Not to have a battery eater UI (read bad things about Spb MS)
4) Have a solution that handles not only the home screen but has additional managers for contacts, calendar, media, weather etc..
5) Have a nice applications panel, a home screen with weather, appointments and messages.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I guess that the UI is a personal choice. I liked SPB MS very much, but unfortunately it is not a free app.
Thanks Junal... I agree and I don't mind to pay. My biggest concern is to use almost all the RAM only for the UI.
Unfortunately there is still 100MB from 256 reserver by samsung:/
Bu according to SPB Mobile Shell it is the best for me too

I have the same concerns regarding SPB shell..!! I used PointUI Demo version ( or the Lite version if you prefer..) and it was simply zippy.. The UI is good and the shell doesn't lag.. All in all, i would definitely recommend it over SPB as i found the UI and memory management better..!!..
In case you *don't* want any extra shell running on your WinMo ( and eating precious RAM ) , i prefer using Resco File Explorer and its Today plugin.. It is easy to use with minimum RAM/CPU needed.. And you can see the RAM, CPU,Battery and Storage space info from the Home screen.. Plus you can also add any number of shortcuts to the plugin to suit your needs.. I use it in conjuction with SPB weather ( which also uses a Today plugin..) and my phone stays zippy throughout the day.. Yet to see any lag due to it's use..!!
Attached a screenshot for the same..
Samsung Today...
I use Samsung Today, which is just a better all round experience than the rubbish TouchWiz widget thingy (in my opinion!). You need one of the newer ROM's though as it wasn't included in the last ROM release from Samsung... by last, I mean official release. Secany, over at MoDaCo has the latest JA5 available, which does include this - just check 'Samsung Today' in the 'Items on Today' option screen
PointUI w/Pointsens v2 for me.
Samsung today rules. It is not as fancy as SPB, but extremely useful and fast.
Used SPB Mobile Shell for several weeks. I admit, it looks good. I don't like the contact manager, it looks awfull. My main issue with it it slows down the Omnia a lot. It consumes a lot of MB's and lags your phone.
I now run Titanium. Put a nice looking, glossy black skin with nice icons on it. I also run PhonEx. Maybe it's not the very best contact system, but it adds a lot of functionality and eye candy. My phone is faster then ever. No issue with loosing memory or closing apps in the background. I enjoy my Omnia more then ever before. No freezes or any issue.
Curious? Try SPB MS for a while. It is a nice UI. But at some point I'm sure you will revert back to Titanium. At that point you will enjoy your Omnia as if it is new
WM 6.5 Rules
Hi everyone....
It's just funny but the best UI was always there! TITANIUM from WM 6.5!
Lightweight
Calendar / Messaging / Weather* / Contacts* / AppLauncher* Plugins
* Additional Plug ins from xda
Straightforward
For the first time Microsoft Mobile is going the right direction!
Maybe they hired some xda fellows?
You can try this ROM ie HD2 Sense UI
I not sure why no one has mentioed yet. Maybe I'm the only one who likes it. But I'm diggin iphonetoday 1.3. I don't use the today plugin. I have actually idsabled the Today, then assign the side button to luacnh the iphotoday exe. I have 80MB of ram on boot. about 76 Once iphonetoday is launched. With this my skyfire browsing experience became mch better as I can multitask
definitely the titanium... add panels and whatever to make it to your liking
JML Panex + JML today rules...
SPB
Only tried Samsung native and SPB MS and prefer MS. Cleaned it some to free around 47mb on bootup. Satisfied with features but would love more free RAM. Less lag than native UI.
Very open to try lighter UIs so i'll keep reading your inputs
47mb is very little. do u have other things booting as well? because i use PhoneEX and MS, and i can boot at 70mb even on stock rom (j6)
i tired pointUI like it very much. but too expensive =p
SPB Mobile Shell, albeit a little slow and paid
Samsung Today (new UI from JA5 ROM) is also excellent, free and customizable
OK.. I am confused with so many diff UI
1. Which is the best UI for Omnia i8000, I need one which is a eye candy and can help show off your OMLed display
2. I am planning to update my Omnia to WinMo 6.5 to get Titanium and TellMe Voice command.. is it worth..?
Titanium plugins are light and become really attractive.
Take a look.
And here are the links if anyone interested.

Although when I first used Titanium I was not impressed now I love them.
They light, practical and beautiful.

I'm actually using SPB Shell around 64-70 MB free on start up, not that bad. Would like to start titanium but I tried everything and cannot get the interface to show -.-;
