Calendar sync not working on G1 with Cyanogen 4.0.2 - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi , I hope someone will be able to help me:
I have a rooted G1 which runs Cyanogen 4.0.2 ROM, before this one 4.0.1.
Everything went fine until yesterday or the day before, when I noticed my calendar wasn't up to date anymore. I connected the G1 to my pc and started 'adb logcat', this is what is logged when trying to sync the calendar:
(note that I have replaced my real email with [email protected] for privacy reasons)
Code:
D/SyncManager( 146): failed sync operation authority: calendar account: [email protected] extr
delay: 0 key: {authority: calendar account: [email protected] extras: [force=true ]} rowId: 1
After some searching I found this problem mentioned before but no concrete solution to this...
I've tried clearing the calendar cache as described here to no avail.
I also tried a complete system wipe but the same problem persisted.
To make sure that it wasn't something at the google server I fired up my HTC magic which is still running stock software, and it synced fine right away.
So this definitely has to do something with my G1, only if anyone could point me in the right direction...
BTW:
Gmail and contacts sync goes just fine!
Thnx in advance!

Cyanogen calendar sync...
Hi all,
Exact same problem here, HTC Magic. I am new to the hacking, rooting, cracking in the android world but installing Cyanogen 4.0.2 was very easy with recovery flasher. ( http://gizmodo.com/5341915/android-hacking-for-the-masses)
I can not speak for any other versions but this version is great except for the sync of Google calendar. This also explained why my battery did not last for a day while is was doing nothing much. Calendar kept syncing without result but was trying all the time.
I hope that Cyanogen can fix this and if he can not or will not that's ok with me. I a happy that there are people who can make things better than they originally were. Good job! However calendar is important to me so perhaps i will switch to another ROM.

@bunster:
Are getting the same error when start 'adb logcat'?
Thanks for mentioning the battery life part, mine had bad battery live to but I failed to make the link to the sync problem, I was on the verge of replacing my battery LOL!

Just upgrade to 4.0.3.1 this morning, problem persisted
@Bunster: Are you using google hosted apps or a regular gmail account?
Because a colleague of mine also has Cyanogen 4.0.2 running on his G1, and his calendar syncs fine, the only difference is that he's using a regular gmail account while I'm using hosted apps account...

I have the same problem.
Previously with JF 1.5 the same calendar of my google account was syncing just fine.
Hope there is a solution soon..

Are you running google apps or regular gmail account?
Updated to 4.0.4, problem not gone...
I found something else:
When looking at the logcat output there's a URL in there which points to one of my calendars (there are URL's for each of my calendars - 5 in total). And when I try to enter this URL into my browser, it tells me that '[email protected]' doesn't have the necessary rights to view that calendar.
However I am the admin of my domain so I should be able to view all my calendars...

I'm running regular gmail account.
I found that this is a known bug of the rom after version 3.*.* ... so we can only wait.

Where did you find this?
Like I said a colleague of mine has 4.0.2 on his G1 and he doesn't have any calendar sync problems...
There has to be something else involved...

Yeah, nothing good however...
Check this link.
It's an issue that has been file on the GoogleCode page for CyanogenMod ROM.
If look at Steve's (=Cyanogen) post you'll see what i mean:
4.0.4 won't be updated. Any calendar/sync related issues for the next release should
be reported as an Android (Google) bug.

So he's basically saying it's not his fault but a Calendar bug and we have to take it up with Google.
Google off course won't do sh*t about this since it works perfectly on stock ROMs and even other custom ROMs.
As a software developer/tester I can understand that this bug is situated in the Calendar app itself, and since Cyanogen received the C&D letter from Goog he can't/does not want to modify and/or distribute this app.
However, since this only occurs on his ROM, it must be something he did that triggers this bug. So what I'd like to see from Cyanogen, isn't a fix in the calendar app, but rather a workaround in his ROM...
I've read that deleting all recurring events will 'fix' the problem, however that's not an option for me since I use a seperate calendar to store all birthday dates for friends and family in (birthdays being off course yearly recurring events, under normal conditions )
I hope Cyanogen reads this and will provide a fix somehow.
As I said i'm a software developer and I know it's f*ucking frustrating if you have to deal with other people's mess, but I think it's clear we shouldn't expect a fix from Google on this one...

so let's hope only in a cyanogen work... it seems to be the only solution for continue to use this fantastic rom with the calendar sync...

4.2.4
Am I the only one who still has this problem??

Nope, see the link I posted earlier.
Cyanogen is not planning to fix this, he blames Google.

Froyo - Problems with Exchange Calendar

As soon as I updated my Nexus to the official release of Froyo, the exchange calendar worked great. No issues.
2 days ago, I wiped and flashed the Rodriguez ROM. Immediately, the calendar would not show any of my exchange meetings. The calendar is listed and shows it as "synced, visible"
Today, I wiped again and reflashed the official FROYO build (still on my sdcard). Set up my exchange. Same thing - no events are displayed.
I had someone send me a new invite and once I accepted, it showed up. But this was the only event displayed.
I created a new event and sent it back to him. Something went funky & it sent him 401 invites w/i 5 minutes. I eventually had to remove my exchange accnt from my phone for it to stop.
Any thoughts???
Submit the question to google, its something they should know before releasing 2.2 officially

Well, it is released officially to the Nexus. And it worked properly before... thats why I am confused as to what is causing this.
Nothing changed with my company's setup. All other Android phones (with Sense) are working fine w/ exchange.

Since when?
The leaked 2.2 was not "official" according to what google and members here are saying.
Maybe this is one of the bugs they are trying to resolve before officially releasing it for the N1 (or any other phone).
It might be worth adding your experience.

No it is not officially released to the N1 - the FRF50 was a preview/rc/testing release sent to a small group and not intended for the public release it got from someone pulling the URL from the logs.
The official OTA is being delayed until google irons out bugs and resolves performance issues (per a google employee's post on the Android help forums). They were hopeful it would OTA this week if the data that came back was good with the last release.
Haha, tough question. If it was entirely up to us, I'd say Definitely Yes! We have made some significant progress over the last couple of weeks and are now analyzing the data that is coming back. If the data looks good, then we will OTA (won't promise this week though!), otherwise this may take a bit longer.

@mr_christian: I was referring to Google as "us". I just want people to understand that we are not intentionally holding back the release. We work very hard on the platform for our customers to enjoy (including tasty names!), and would rather release it than not. That said, we will not release it until we are happy with it.
I am not at liberty to share details of what is being worked on, but at a high level we weren't happy with the performance and quality bar we had set for this release. There were also a few last minute bugs that cropped up and wanted to fix them before launch.
Hope that helps. Once again, we appreciate all the support and feedback!

Post about it on the Android forums if it's something you can recreate or supply information regarding what caused the problem. If it's something they can identify and resolve it will help everyone.
Sorry... my bad then. Been out of the loop as of late.
FWIW - I installed Kang-o-rama's Froyo and everything works fine now...just like before.
Something with Rodriguez ROM maybe? I mean, if it worked on stock 2.2 (and it does, I enjoy it myself) then it's not 2.2, but something else. Either bad flash, or something is up with the ROM. Check the ROM thread to see if anyone else has your problem.
I have problem with frf83 and exchange calendar sync. Email and contacts are syncing well, but exchange account does not appear in Calendar. In account settings calendar is marked to sync. Can anybody help?

[Q] Contact sync??

I've got my NC rooted with GMail and Market working ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871210 )...
Next, it would be great to have contacts imported properly. Does anyone have any ideas how to get contact sync working with Google on the NC?

Lets just go ahead and add Calendar as a direct addition to Contacts. I believe the biggest hurdle was getting the market ported so gmail sync was locked in. Now that permissions seem to work, hopefully these two (contact/calendar) can quickly be sideloaded and installed without a hitch.
Thanks!
Can you either upload or show us where to download the 2.1 contacts/calendar apks?
I've gotten the Calendar working, but not contacts. Was just asking about that here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9784134#post9784134
(also links there to the old cyanogenmod zip where I grabbed the Calendar apks ... just pushed 'em over, and all worked fine -- this is after getting market/gmail working with the instructions on nookdevs)

Thanks for the link.. Lets hope replacing contacts isnt too difficult with the existing NC bloat in the stock build.

[Q] Syncing to google calendar?

Has anyone gotten this to work on the NC yet? I'm somehow able to see calendars that people share with me, but I cannot see my own. They are all sharing just fine with my iphone, but they dont show up on my NC. I can see them and check them off, but nothing displays on the default calendar or on calwidget.
Has anyone run into this?
Agreed
Yep... I've got the same issue with mine.
Hmm... that sucks... well, I guess I COULD just create a second google account, set up my calendars there, then share them with my primary account... but that's almost more trouble that it's worth.
SOLVED
OK - researched a little more - check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10122405#post10122405 and look at DocFreed's post - it's so simple and stupid, yet it works
Fantastic! Thank you. I'm currently wifi-less so i'll test that once I get home

[Q] Cannot sync Gmail calendar...can anyone help?

Hi everybody
MY GF has an SGS, and recently she added a new calendar to her gmail. However, it wouldn't sync with her phone. All the other calendars were fine, but this new one would never even appear in her calendar options.
We've had a look at lots of forums, but all the solutions we tried didn't work.
Recently, we cleared the calendar data from her phone, but now none of the calendars will sync: they don't even appear in the stock calendar app.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this please? We thought about deleting her gmail account form her phone and setting it up again, but of course, it won't let us.
I was thinking of setting up a random gmail account...adding that to her phone, deleting her old gmail, and then adding it again. Does anyone think this will work?
Many thanks for advice you may give me
If you are on stock try seeing if you can run the set up apk, or some such similarly named app worth a try

Does anyone know where I can find the setup apk? I had a browse but I can't find it ...
Thanks again for all your help

[Q] Facebook contact sync in Jellybean?

Hi!
I've been searhing around a bit, but couldn't find any proper soloution to fix Facebook contact sync in JB.
I've tried Facebook HaxSync with the workaround, but doesen't sync phone numbers, so the purpose of it all is kind of lost then.
I read some places that som ROMs have this feature built in? I'm currently running SlimBean 2.6, and It doesn't appear to have this feature.
The only flashable zip fix I found was for a HTC phone or something. A guy running SlimBean 2.5 on SII tried it, and it didn't work, so I guess it's not working on the note either.
So, does anyone know of a working solution for Note running Jellybean?
