How can this be done on the G1? Right know all my tracks are just single filed and not in any structure like Artist then album.
Yes.. In the music app you can sort by songs, artists, albums and playlists. It will list all mp3s on your SD card.

The stock app should have what your lookign for... but it can only do one of each, like sort by artist or by album. just browse around the menu screen.

Hi all,
I have finally managed to get the album art to be displayed in the Touch Flo 3D. When I select a song from the library, the correct image is shown. However, I'm still not able to flip / browse / scroll through the different albums which are stored in the 4GB internal memory. Flo 3D just doesn't display the albums, only individual songs.
When I just unpacked the Diamond, there were two demo albums (with one song) stored in the device memory. Those were displayed correctly, but I've erased those demo albums, because the songs were not my style.
It seems that the Internal Storage is not scanned in a proper way to display the albums, because I get the message "Geen muziek gevonden", which is Dutch for "No music found". But the strange thing is, is that the individual songs are selectable through the library.
I used Windows Media Player 11 to synchronize my music albums. Anyone having similar problems, because I could not find a thread on this.
Is the album art included in the tags? If not you could try that. I don't know if WMP does that, but media monkey and other free apps do. If it doesn't even work then somethings probably not right.
I've added the album art in the tags using MediaMonkey. Before that, the images were not even shown, but as I said, I've managed to fix that. The only problem that remains is that I'm not able to scroll through the albums. Am I missing something? How do you select album flipping? Is this a special combination?
There are a lot of ways to show up album art. Mediamonkey works but i just put the song under content/music, create an folder with the artist name and put the song with a jpg picture in that map. Rename the picture to folder.jpg and you're device creates the album art. Under the touchflow select library and play the song so it shows up.
It sounds like your issue is not in getting album art to show at this point, but in getting the flip interface to show albums rather than songs, correct? I'm afraid you are mistaken about the original configuration. The flip interface always has and will continue to merely show songs. It's just that the original samples only had one song per album, so it looked like it was showing you individual albums. To browse through your albums, you need to drill down into the appropriate screen in the library. The flip interface will only show the songs in your active playlist.

Hmmm, could that be the case? Let me settle with this explanation (for now). Thanks!
I have a stock Sprint TP. I noticed too that the Albums disappeared from the flip interface in TF3D after playing a song. As stated above, to get back to being able to Flip between songs on Albums you need to go to the Music tab, select Library from the bottom then navigate to All Songs tab, select Menu > add to Playlist. Now all the songs in your library are in your playlist and will be displayed on the main Music tab in TF3D.
gbrailsford, thanks that worked great for me! I used windows media player to sync songs and put the album covers through
Something that annoys me, is that, the music player Album ****s up everything, it creates album for each song, how can i keep my mp3 folders, as albums on the phone?
hey no answers?
This is one of the weakest points of all players made by Microsoft and HTC. They think people always keep their music neatly playlisted and ID'd.
People like me and you simply keep their music in folders with the names of the artists or albums.
The player you need is called MortPlayer. It can keep a list of folders and jump to the next folder with the touch of a button.
Can the menu music .. I put the covers of albums? in almost every song is "?"
Look at this thread and go to post number 9. This is what I have done and it works for me.

If you have an artist lets say 2pac, you make a map within the Artist map named "2pac". If you have alot of songs from him and alot of album arts, sort them and make folders for all the albums in the 2pac folder. When you are done, put all the tracks in the right album folder and search for the album art, remember to put it in the Album folder with name Folder.jpg. Just check so the Album folder is same as the Album name in the track in winamp or w/e you listen.
Just seems obvious, but there's no music player app/widget that can do this. I've no idea where it would get the pics, though.
You know, you can put whatever picture you want in for the Album Art... put the artist's picture in all the MP3s.
That would take a really long time to do manually. There are players that will auto-download the album art.

they will show album art for sorting by albums and on the now playing screen. playerpro can show artist pictures when you sort by artists.
I bought 'Anthems' Ministry Of Sound Electronic 80's Volume 2 from Amazon MP3 and it shows in Music as about 60 different 'Albums' each with one song in it. Perhaps 2 songs if there is more than one track by a particular artist on the compilation. This is not good as I can't play the Album.
I imported the set of MP3s into iTunes, and it shows on iTunes and on my iPod as a single album. Must have got that from the ID3 tags, I guess?
I deleted the album from my Amazon MP3 folder on the Galaxy, then used DoubleTwist to import it back onto the Galaxy from my iTunes library, and it /still/ has 60 different 'Albums'.
How can I get this album to show as one Album? I've tried the Galaxy stock Music player, and MixZing and Zimly. They all show it as multiple albums.
I'm trying to get rid of my iPod and use the Galaxy as my main music source, but things like this are getting me down.
Please help!
Thanks
Done some searching and I find that compilation albums are a sore point in Android and no app will sort them properly. A lot of my music is multi artist compilation and it's just a mess in any player app that I can find. Just tried winamp too.
Guess I won't be replacing my ipod after all
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Just use the folder option in the library to play the album.

Not sure what that means - if I look with Astro or My Files apps, each song is in a folder of its own, hanging off the 'Music' folder on my external SD. Single artist albums have all the songs in an Artist/Album/Song hierarchy.
it was probably done that way by doubletwist.
Download media monkey, copy the compilation, go into media monkey, find that copy, then using media monkey select all tracks, and change album name to whatever you want. Done!
Fix Found
Had this issue, it appears it's an ID3 tag error.
You can fix it by getting an app called ID3 fixer.
Select the folder that holds your music and set the charset to "US-ASCII (English)"
If you still have issues, try different charsets.
