Would it be safe to use a 4 month old thread on installing HTC_IME when I am running what is in my sig?
Does CM v4.0.2 already have this installed.
I am thinking of Haykuros HTC_IME Hero. Is this compatible with my sig specs?

already installed
go to settings > locale and text > switch to touch input
When I go there, all I have is
-Select Locale
-Android Keyboard
-Android Keyboard Settings
-Any Soft Keyboard
-Any Soft Keyboard Settings
-Device Keyboard
-User Dictionary
I cannot find Haykuros HTC_IME Hero keyboard.
If it is not listed you can try installing it. Should be no reason it shouldn't work unless the "any soft keyboard" option is actually a modified version of the Htc_ime. If that is the case you should be able to check that box than long press any text field to select your default.

you have to install the lib's from the stock keyboard to get it working on any htc phone. there is a AOSP keyboard in the themes adn apps section just install that and the droidx keyboard will work perfectly.
check here
That worked! I like this keyboard =D

I'm running Perception 10.1 and it only comes with the Samsung keyboard and Swype. I dont like either of those. Personally I like the stock android keyboard that was in the version of Cog 2.2B7 that I was running.
Does anybody know where I can find the apk for the regular Android keyboard that will work with 2.2.1?
Thanks!
I have the gingerbread keyboard that is almost the same, find it attached. it is an .apk so just install it, then go to settings and make sure it has a checkmarc so you can select it on the keyboard selection.
It only has English but I have the other .apk with lots more languages if you need it
PS : I am running 2.2.1 so I know this works

Thanks. I have tried that one. Its better than the samsung keyboard but the keys are a little small, in my opinion.
I did manage to find the stock android keyboard in the Cog2.2B7 zip file that I had. I just took it out of there and installed it on my phone, it seems to work.
cool, I like this one because the keys are a little smaller LOL
Was wondering if there is an Gingerbread Keyboard ,for low-res phones (aka Magic) ? as a free app ,not the paid one from the Market
There is a free version in the market, I'm currently using it.
Please use the search function. The keyboard is for example included in some ROMs and posted on other phones' forums.
Still, get it here: http://goo.gl/b8UPH (gingerbread keyboard, use 7-Zip)
Works for both mdpi and hdpi devices.
Yes there is actually.
Edit- App is called "Keyboard from Android 2.3"
Developer : Steven Lin.
I have a magic too and flashed gingerbread keyboard with it. But my new rom have it by default.
It's probably already somewhere on this forum.
But, I've made the update to android 2.3.3 for my galaxy s and I'd like to have the gingrbread's keyboard on it.
Does any one knows how to get it, i'm lost on this case.
Thanks!
Isnt it there already?Im on Darky 10 based on JVK and its on. Thought it was included

Just get the apk and install it. Use the search function to find the apk.
If you upgraded to 2.3.3 it should already be there.
Find any type of search box, press in the box and hold down until a popup box called 'input method'. After selecting 'input method' a new box should pop up with multiple choices of which keyboard to use, gingerbread being one of them (if preinstalled). If not, download it from the market and enable it in settings/locale and text. You should see in that list "Gingerbread keyboard" with an empty box next to it (if unactivated). Check that box and make your selection through the input method box again.
On XXJVK AOSP gingerbread keyboard is not included.
Here is the link, just download the apk and install:

Even easier, just download it for free from the Market.

very good keyboard
It will get better if you install the multitouch fix from here:

Ok thought I would take the rubbish out of the dev thread.
So far I have done this:
Flashed JVT from start with custom .PIT file. Speeds up Ice Cream sandwich, I've tested this and it works great. Visually no lag and it works on top of any lag fix you do after wards.
[HOW TO]
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...-12mb-in-nand-symlink-modem.6361/#post-131323
So here it is:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/43088692/12MB_Gain_NAND_Symlinked_Modem.bin.zip
Download and instructions - Everything you need is in that zip (its not a CWM zip by the way) load it to your PC and unzip. Follow the PDF print outs I have included and also as an acknowledgement to ykkfive's hard work (this references directly back to coolya's work from XDA https://github.com/cmsgs/utilities/tree/master/pit-stuff)

1. You can do this by taking a CWM Nandroid backup of your current setup.
2. Flash back to stock using Odin and the files I have provided in my drop box zip file.
3. I have added modem.bin file, script manager apk, buszybox apk and superuser apk for everyone should they wish to test the script and modem on the base JVT setup that they just flashed.
4. When it works correctly boot into recovery and then restore your CWM Nandroid backup and viola your done
5. Boot up - NB: You will notice you have no reception until you run the script in script manager.
You set on moot the script to run and in ICS it seems to work better than on JVT (where I had to initiate the script even after checking the onboot function).

Swype for Ice Cream Sandwich - I am so effin sick of the stock keyboard. Went on the Galaxy Nexus pages for a rummage around see what I could find?

Nova Launcher! Yeeeew finally a replacement. ****s on the standard launcher, can make GOSMS my sms app in the dock setup just how I always wanted it. Go Launcher Ex fails big time on ICS so don't bother installing it (even though I love it) the animations on GO Launcher cause big time crashing hahaha test for ya self for LOLs
You will ditch the stock launcher in an instant once your on this. It allows resizing of widgets and app draw also has widget draw like standard launcher.

Ice cream sandwich clock download from market. It looks like the clock in the pictured icon of the clock....not the gay looking analog clock that comes with it that I tried for ages to work out how to change the skin when you can't.
Haven't got a link for it atm but its in the Market so just download from there.
Feel free to post up anything additional that would be helpful

Whats the difference? I am running a tweaked version of MyUI ICS ROM on my Phone and freakin rocks!
The MyUI version of the ICS ROM based off OneCosmic's RC 2.11.
- List of Mods. 1% increments on the battery using the similar style to Perka's MOD of Elin ROM ICS. Uses the ICS font for numerals upto 100 and has blue lightning bolt whilst charging.
- Uses Nova Launcher and Glitch Kernel but with the nice white standard Google boot image and tweaked Boot animation as well.
-Center Date in notification dropdowm menu
Drop box is here:

Acknowledgments go out to Perka and MyUI

anyway to stop vibration on lockscren?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I think there is, u need to search in settings of the phone.
Thanks alot, Ive been looking for swype and a good and proper replacement launcher!
swype thread link broken?
didnt find a way to disable vibration on lock screen. if you disable haptic feedback in settings, it still vibrates.
furthermore, the vibration on haptic feedback is very high and not configureable.. thats annoying. disabled it, using now a keyboard with custom vibration length (htc_ime mod, yeah - still running under ics)

That one doesn't work after i tested it. The look of it is nice but the apk is made for a much bigger phone. It stretches too wide for the screen lol.
I went back to FlexT9 keyboard. By far the best swype out there that I have ever used. I keep deviating but I keep returning back to that old faithful hahaha. The issue with ICS is that it won't let you over ride the standard ICS keyboard to use anything other than native. So you need to freeze the keyboard apps with Titanium Backup. Then install the keyboard of your choice...in my case FlexT9. then I go and remove the apks from system/app like LatinIME and any associations with the standard keyboard, dictionary etc and put them in a folder on my SD card for "just-in-case"....cause that Justin bloke has saved me on many occasions lol.
I managed to use SwiftKey X without any problem - I do not need to freeze the stock ics keyboard apps.
i guess u knw wt i have done ..
You've found my very very very old thread that I started when ICS only first came to SGS...hahah
