Mono audio from a (wired) stereo headphone? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My G1 (previously running JF roms and now Cyanogen) seems to only play audio out the right speaker of my stereo headphones. I am using the standard audio connector that came with it, and I was getting stereo output prior to Cupcake's release.
The headphones are not damaged (i.e. plugging them into my computer yields stereo sound), and the connecting cable to my G1 also appears intact, as plugging it into my phone yields a gentle stereo "pop" through the headphones.
A headphone with mic icon appears on my notification bar upon plugging in my headphones, so I'm guessing Android thinks it has a mic and only one speaker.
Is there any way (hardware or software tweak) that I can get it to output stereo audio again?

i have the same dongle, and i have cm 4.0.2. its most likely the headphones try different pair if u can

I have exactly the same issue - G1 with brand new stereo headphones, left channel about 10% sound with noise. Worked fine before convert to Cyanogen 4.2.2?

[Q] Headphone with inline mic issue

I have the MEElectronics M6P with inline mic headphones. When I connect the headphones to the One, it does not recognize that the headphones are connected. All sound goes to the speakers.
Has anyone had similar issues? The HTC one will recognizes headphones without an inline mic. I believe the issue is with the length of the jack.
It's very disappointing I can't use my everyday headphones with the One. Attached is a picture of the jack on the headphones.

microphone doesn't work while 3.5mm jack is plugged in?

Hi,
Does this issue plague anyone else?
The microphone simply won't work when any 3.5mm jack is plugged in, regardless of whether it's headphones or a headset (with a built-in mic).
This is my 2nd phone, and I still can't use my mic when I have a standard set of headphones plugged in. Surely this isn't a design choice they made for the Z1?? What happens if I'm listening to music and I receive a call, do I have to UNPLUG my headphones and slap the phone to my face?
My gf's XZ works just fine with the 3.5mm jack plugged in.
It needs to be compatible with Z1 and it will work, afaik not many if any phones mic will work with headset plugged in if headset doesnt have mic or mic that is compatible to the three ringed plug.

[Q] Output audio through aux during call

Is it possible to have the phone output sound through auxiliary for phone calls if the attached aux does not have a mic. For example if I plug it into my car speakers, or if I wear headphones not made with a mic. I'm not sure if its just a problem with my phone that doesnt allow this, it shows the headphone icon yet for phone calls it still outputs through the earpiece. Calls output fine if I use a earbud that has a built in mic.
This has been an minor annoyance since I got the phone a year ago and I've been hoping after all the updates they would finally fix it.

Nexus Doesn't Like Stereo Jacks

Hey all, I've got an issue. I can listen to music just great on my N6 via 3.5mm standard non-mic or mic earbuds. I went to plug the N6 into my stereo today and the music kept playing out of the speaker when I put the jack in, but when I take it out it pauses the music. AudioFX also knows when the jack is in because the EQ switches to headphones. It's not just music that does this either, YouTube keeps playing through the speakers as well. I've tried 2 different jacks, both are just 3.5mm to RCA stereo plugs. However, I had an old pair of broken Apple headphones with a mic that I cut up and attached a 3.5mm female onto the end instead of earbuds. The setup is N6 -> modified Apple earbuds -> 3.5mm to RCA -> Stereo. This actually worked, god knows why. I want to know if anyone else had this issue, and what to do about it because I'd rather not return the phone to T-Mobile for a replacement.

Sony Sound System speakers to stereo 3.5mm

I have a Sony music system DHC-AZ55D. It basically consists of two speakers (with optional 5.1 surround speakers that I do not have) and a main unit that handles interface. I connected the audio IN to my TV so I could simply set the system to Video mode and it would play sound from the TV. The satellite connection was connected to TV through HDMI and the Sony system was connected through this cable.
My problem is, the System no longer works. I tried to take it to a service center but they couldn't do anything about it. The speakers work fine though, so I now want to route the speakers directly to my TV. The speakers use a weird proprietary jack that doesn't connect anywhere but the interface. It has a black cable and a red cable like all speakers, and they can be detached from the jack. I looked online for information on how to solder speaker cables to one speaker, unlike my Left and Right speaker situation.
Here's where I'm stuck now. How can I use both my speakers with proper Left and Right channels on my TV without the main system?
TLDR
Two speakers, both have black and red wires
Takes audio from TV through 3.5mm jack
Separate stereo channels
Consistency preferred over simplicity
Thanks in advance!
