Is there a way to do this? I bought my HTC Touch Pro 2 in The Netherlands but my Dutch isn't that great and I get lost in my phone a lot... Does anyone know if there's a way to change the ROM from one language to another? Thanks.
Flash HSPL so you can flash any rom you want... like the stock WWE version, or any custom rom found on this forum
This voids all warranty i believe, is there a way to put it back to the way I bought it, incase i need to send it in?
You can re-flash your TP2 with the original rom (i did it).
What kind of backup tool will I need to use on my original ROM before I start? I'm seeing instructions for the Magician etc but not the Pro2, is it model specific?
Please search before starting new threads, both of these are very common questions and have been answered on the forum and the wiki many times.
Thanks
Dave

Yes you can go back to an older one. I believe I saw a stock french ROM floating around here somewhere. It shouldn't be an issue to flash to a custom and then back to stock if a return is required.
Is your phone CDMA or GSM? If it is CDMA you may want to head over to ppcgeeks for ROMS...
thank you
It's a GSM!
i was wondering if you can add a language? without flashing ....just curious!!
No sorry you wont be able to change language without flashing.
I also got a french phone from ROGERS so i flashed it too.
I know that i may sound like a noob to you guys
But i just got my first ppc (the HTC diamond touch) with a dutch (i am) rom installed.
now i've tried to get the new rom from HTC but they say my ppc is not compatible.
What i like to know is, if i get a new rom and flash it do i need a new WM 6.1
or is that in the rom or does it install ( like a backup on the phone)
If it is the last option, where can i get a "clean WM6.1"
If this question has been asked before then i'm sorry i probably didn't see it
Sincerely yours
Harry
Try this S/N on HTC :
ht822gn28022
WM is in the ROM

Why would you look like a noob to us? Just because you've just got your first PPC? Everybody has to start somewhere.
First question I've got is, do you own a real Touch Diamond or do you own the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV? If you own a Diamond touch you've should be able to flash the latest Dutch rom without problems. If you own a MDA Compact IV you've need to flash a hard-SPL into the phone otherwise you can't flash original Touch Diamond roms.
You can use this S/N for downloading the original Touch Diamond rom from the HTC homepage.
To upgrade to Hard-SPL you can follow this tutorial. Only do this when you know what your doing and if you understand the risks.
Another one here also. So how about a SN for a Sprint US Version?
I did search and all i found were the Two Dutch SN's for the EUR Version on HTC's Site.
Thanks,
Bryan
Hi, been looking through the various sections of ROM development forum, and have a couple of questions. I am new to this Windows based phones.
1) When I dump the ROM, does this Backup the ROM, radio and Protocol, or do you have to do them individually? Basically can I put the MDA Compact V back into its complete original state if I dont like the new ROMS?
2) Has anyone tried Flashing the Compact V, if so, any improvements?
Hoping some of you experts can help out a noob!
2) You need HARDSPL installed. Then you can flash any topaz rom on it. Trust me, you don't want to go back to the t-mobile rom.
Let us know how you get on, i'm thinking of doing the same thing
I dumped my rom from the mda compact v but I havent put it back together as nbh yet. Downloading the topaz kitchen to do so.
It is always a good idea to dump your rom before flashing a new one. If your phone develops a fault t-mobile will not accept responsibility if there is a custom rom on there and they will likely tell you that your warranty has been invalidated. Although the t-mobile rom is awful is always good to have it backup up just in case of the worst.
Saying that I didnt backup the radio though and I updated that to the latest last week
EDIT: To answer the question yes there are improvements with running custom roms. I have not moved to 6.5 yet as I have a heavily customised uDK 6.1 rom and cannot be bothered to move to 6.5 and do all the customisations again. There 6.5 rom appear to be slightly buggier from what I read but it does have its advantages over 6.1.
Backup the t-mobile rom and move to the custom roms just make sure you follow the instructions carefully
Thanks for the replys.
Pauloke: I have backed up the ROM (parts.raw) and I have also got the kitchen, but I really have no idea what I'm doing. Worst case, I have a copy anyway. The kitchen instructions get quite techy very quickly and they soon lose me. Is there any way of getting a copy of the shipped ROM online?
Cheers

One way is to check the website of your provider. Sometimes you find the ROM (as an update) there.
Another way is to check the WIKI TOPAZ cooked ROMs page. By chance you find your ROM there.
Ohh man i must be rly stupid, why i cant figure out how the @#% i can dump my rom :S This dumprom tool is supposed to extract an already backed up rom right? i'm really confused :/
i just got a new HTC Touch HD from orange romania. It is sim locked to the orange network. i would like to unlock it and then flash it with one of the new WM 6.5 ROM. i was just wondering if there is any chance that i can later flash back to the original ROM so that i can use the warranty if ever needed??

Of course you can return to original rom. All stock roms are available for download in the wiki here.
Follow cRaCKwHoRe's guide for flashing roms and for your purposes on returning to original rom I would use USPL instead of HSPL.
In future before posting a new thread read the wiki, try searching for your answer as many people have asked this before and read the forum rules!!!
