Sometime between flashing JacHEROski1.6r3cc(from twitter. Really slow by the way, needs tweaking) AND Cyan's 4.0.4 my G1 has decided that wifi doesn't need to work anymore.
I've tried several roms since I realized it wasn't able to turn on to try and get it working. I've also search Q&A and Dream Development looking for anyone or anything on the issue with no result.
I've reflashed the radio and spl and even had no luck with getting it to work on JF1.51 ADP. I'm stumped and would like to get it working.
I'm sorry in advance if this thread is uncalled for. Delete it if you must, but after 3 days of searching and requesting help from fellow xda peeps I am still without a fix.
Roms I've flashed since the problem
Jacheroski's
1.6r2 a & b
Cyan's
4.0.3
4.0.4
4.1.1
Jacxrom
1.4r2
1.4r3
JF
1.51 ADP
Twisted's
4.5r3
All with the same result "unable to start WIFI"
Edit: 8/31/09
Okay so after calling T-mobile's PDA tech support I've found out that this issue has warrant for replacement. It is a know issue with their latest update. Before they could send me out a replacement I had to check the color indicator circle to make sure it is white (which it is) and give the my G1's IMEI # which I did located under the battery. I am now waiting for a replacement which should arrive in a week. SO Yeah!!! I wasn't able to change the color though (the bronze has a hard to read slide out keyboard is dim light) and I guess my battery warranty was up in July = [
I have a few days left before I have to send it in. Does anybody want any info off my device before I return it? Like logs etc. Just pm me.
Mod thanks for not closing this thread right away = ]
Mod okay to close = ]

Huh... well... I hate to say it... but it may be a hardware issue. Sorry. If you wipe and flash your rom then it should start up. Or maybe it could be your access point (if it's an 802.11a or something).
you may want to hit me for saying this, but if you can't get a wipe/flashing fix, try going back to rc-29 and finding the stock 1.5 update (someone has it in their sig i just can't recall right now, sorry). and see if it will work in a stock build. if it doesn't then it is a hardware problem and your phone will be back at stock so you can call for help. if it does work on stock though, since you have already rooted your phone before i have an easy to follow guide to get you back to the latest and greatest cyanogen mod from stock in my sig
hope this is of some help
definitely try what binary100100 posted above me first though.
I'll try R29. I am rooted. I can su in terminal in all the roms accept Cyan's 4.1.1 (theres something weird with it) So my plan is to flash to an Official T-mobile rom and call for tech support. is there anything I need to know before I call tomorrow?

do not mention ANYTHING about rooting, flashing, recovery, anything technical at all. the dumber you sound the better.
Thanks for the advice. I will post my findings tomorrow.
Have you looked thru your kernel log (dmesg) for any error messages that might show up when you attempt to turn on your wireless radio? I'd check there first and post back.

i have firm ware version 1.5 and every bluetooth i try on my phone doesnt work can someone help me
I got the same problem after rooting device. I use image RC29 and JACKHeroski ROM. But the bluetooth function is used by me rarely.
i really need my bluetooth im almost always in my car ... i need help
and i cant use my bluetooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bluetoo has not work on jack yet
you guys need to know that , blutoo just has not work on jackhero.
bluetoo work on cyanengen, jf1.5.
first of all,
you need to explain more than your running 1.5
is your phone rooted.
have you tried rebooting your phone / wipe your phone
are you using any custom roms etc.
yes i did all of that rebooted anf=d everything but my bluetooth does not work
an my phone is rooted
excuse me sir.
ok, a suggestion. goto quicklinks and edit your sig. let us know what rom, radio and spl you are running. second, do you have adb? no? get adb installed so you can run logcat and we can get an idea what exactly is going on with your device. third: what is the history of your phone? what process did you follow to get where you are now? when is the last time you wiped? etc. etc. etc.
if you have questions about the aforementioned items, search. apply google-fu accordingly.
We can't help if we don't have something tangible to work with. internets are not magic, simply shouting "my stuff is b0rked" will not automagically repair your problem. harry potter is an iphone user. you are not harry potter, and that phone in your hand is no iphone.
i'd love to help you but simply cannot until you give me something firmer to work with.
Define doesn't work. Does it not connect? Does it seem to connect then you lose all audio? Does it stab you in the face? What does it do, exactly. Have you updated your radio?
This is a "my car doesn't work, how do I fix it?" kinda thread..
We need info in order to help you!
Did it work before?
what have you done in order to break it?
What are the errors?
What version af ROM are you running?
What radio version are you running?
etc etc etc..
BTW bumping the thread doesn't help either, it just will make a nice padlock appear on the thread, just like by magic..
And I moved the thread from DEVELOPMENT (!) to Q&A..
Try using a different ROM as suggested. The _Hero_ Roms don't support BT yet. If you need it you'll have to switch to JF, Cyanogen or Haykuro's etc. ROMs.
Just like everyone else said. And one more sugestion have you updated your radio.
how mean. thanks
look every one is being so mean. n e ways when i say it doesnt work i mean that it says its connected to bluetooth but u cant hear anything when u send or receive a call and for sure i know its not the bluetoth because i have 5 different ones and none work. i dont know if it have ever worked because i just started using the bluetooth . and well ill try finding our the rest of the info because i dont do the updates my self only sometimes and i dont know all them numbers u guys are asking for what i know are the numbers i put in the other messages. but its ok thanks to those who helped...
ok... seems like we got some info here.
It seems that someone else has been modding your phone for you. Installing custom ROMS is nothing to be taken lightly, you should really research things a bit to get a better understanding of how your phone actually works.
I wasn't trying to be mean, please understand that you posted a help request in a forum designated for development of new applications and customization of the system images that make up the operating system you see when your phone boots up. Posts like these have become a growing problem lately and many users here are getting frustrated, myself included.
First of all, goto settings, about phone.
Write down the following information:
Model Number
Firmware version
Baseband version
Kernel Version
Mod Version (if its there)
Build Number (if its there)
Post that info in a thread in Q&A, where this thread belonged to begin with and maybe we can actually get somewhere.
Model Number:x201
Android version : 4.2.2
Baseband version: moly.wr8.w1315.md.wg.mp v4.P1, 2013/11/09 14:19
Kernel version: 3.4.5 [email protected] #11
Custom build version: ensec 20140318
my bluetooth wont connect with my iphone 5? it says "connection unsuccessful, Truesmart is not supported
any suggestions??
thanks
First things first, i did all this upgrading to hero crap so i can fix the problems i was having in JF's 1.51 Camera not working, apps not downloading properly, and just random constant crashing.
Now that i finally got hero to work after buying a brand new SD card, i'm stuck with one of the same problems.
Many apps including robodefense, my backup pro, and a few others and seems like just about every other app i try to download screws up.
This is EXACTLY what happens.
I click download
App starts to download
The file size it shows is 45-55% of the actual full size.
--Example: Robodefense is normally 3.5MB, the phone only downloads 1.75MB
The phone downloads the reduced file size and says it's complete
Also it's not like it shows downloaded 1.75 of 3.35 and ends. It actually shows the full file size of the app as 1.75 where as the description shows the full file size at 3.35
Obviously because the app didn't download properly it won't load.
NOTHING has fixed this.
-15 factory wips
-10 card formats and repartitioning
-JF's 1.5 rom has this problem
-Jacheros 2.7.3 rom has it as well (what i'm currently using)
i've also reinstalled each rom 10 times. and nothing. every single time the same apps won't download properly
Now i'm pretty sure now that it's because of Apps2sd but that dosn't make any sense since when i first did apps2sd EVERYTHING worked that i installed, it wasn't until jf 1.51 and a few weeks after that all this **** started happening.
I figured going to a new rom would fix it and that it was something that JF's 1.51 was doing. But now on a brand new rom it's doing the same thing.
I really hope theres someway to fix this, or someone can point me to a stock US T-Mobile rom so i can test to see if it is apps2sd.
or if someone just knows what this is because i'm really pissed off about this and i'm about ready to just leave android all together.
Try cyanogen's ROM...Could just be a network issue
can't right now but i will as soon as i get home. But does that even make sence though? cause i've already had it happen now on two different roms, would cranogens really make that much of a difference?

Well again it could be a network issue. Try downloading via wifi.
I have, Wi-Fi, Edge, and 3G.
3G in both my city, and 5 others. Edge the same.
Wi-Fi at home, school, mcdonalds, apple store (was showing off my G1 to the iphone lovers lol) and a few other places that have free wi-fi
No matter where or what these apps will never download properly once it happens the first time.
home now and just trying to find my razr2 that i tossed somewhere so i can have a working phone while i try to fix this.
installed cyanogens rom. still no change. same apps doing the same ****
You could try flashing back to RC29 (DREA100) and doing everything over.
any quick download links?
and one other thing, can i leave the new SPL or do i have to go back to the old SPL
I just don't feel like bricking my phone right now since it's literally my only phone and i can't afford a new one anytime soon.

Well if you already flashed the new SPL successfully your phone is like virtually unbrickable now...
okay so then all i do is flash the RC29 rom and thats it? nothing else needed

Flash it then flash back to RC33 (JF) and try dling from the market again...Also try logging in with a different gmail account. Google may have suspended your original one.
no change what-so-ever
flashed ro RC29, then back to jf and then used a different account. same exact thing.
So i think it's safe to say that my phone is just screwed to high hell now and i'm gonna have to get a new one right?
We've basically tried everything possible...If you wish to do it and not continue racking your brains just get a new g1
yeah. through not so legal methods i was able to find most of the apps i paid for and can't use anymore because they die if i update them but the fact that i can't download anything off the market kinda sucks and i don't think i feel like waiting for the hero or some other phone to come out thats better than the g1
I've had bad luck with HTC devices, never had one that worked perfectly for more than 6-7 months. Just wish Acer, LG, Samsung, or Motorola would actually show us what android phones they're working on. and release them right now.
try this "fix"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=539780
This disables the android checkin service. But remember:
When you wipe your phone, you have to enable the checkinservice again, otherwise the setupwizard will fail. After the SetupWizard it can be disabled again.
Here is also a litte script to disable the checkinservice:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
su
if ! grep -q "^ro.config.nocheckin=" /system/build.prop; then
echo "Mounting system as read/write"
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
echo "Disabling Checkinservice"
echo "ro.config.nocheckin=1" >> /system/build.prop
echo "rebooting.."
reboot
else
echo "CheckinService already disabled"

Hi guys
i had a rogers htc dream. i have used to the one click guide and haykuro methods to root my phone with cyanagen rom. however my phone is running extremely slow for some reason and i would have to force close all the application everytime. the only way to make it work is to uninstall and reinstall and reboot and use them for an hour and start force closing again.
while i was browsing i came to find out abt Super Dwang. some people are sayings it stable and fast. so i decided to try it. so i also wanted to get the new recovery Aman-Ra. once i installed that recovery...i was no longer able to go in recovery mode or start my phone. it would remain stuck on ROGERS logo. no matter what i tried didnt help. in desperation and by panicing i used the method on code.google.com to unbrick my phone. which led me to download DREAM.nbh and update that. little did i know once i have done that i ended up on T-mobile G1 with 1.0 firmwire and the original SPL. noting i could think of worked. i did reasearch one for last 5 hours and no help. so i have no choice to but post a thread in hope for a solution. i do want to mention was able to go to firmwire 1.1 with rc033 if that helps. i wanan go back to original HTC DREAM they way it came from rogers with 1.5 cupcake. if i want to root again i will do it later. also how do u upgrade radio i cant seem to do anything. please help.....i dun have a spare phone!!! i can make call but i am just so disappointed....please someone help me! i am a noob at this!
relax
At least its still running. I rooted my t-mobile under nearly the same circumstances (v1.1 etc) using the gold card hack. Youre a noob? So keep reading until you know what youre doing. Im at work atm. Maybe i can help when i get home. But 5 hours waiting is nothing. Dont force it. You could try it in the #android irc channel at freenode, meanwhile.
hey sHR00m thnaks alot. but i was able to go back to the root mode with cyanoge. what i did is i used to flashrec to back up and then flashed cyanoge 1.4 and at that point i was able to goto recovery mode and i used my laptop to put donut and latest cyanogen rom in the sd card and did a full wipe and installed. however when it loads it still says t-mobile g1 no that i care. i was able to use 3g from rogers! (it also returned me to original radio). but then i installed the amon-ra recovery and installed it (btw its amazing) and i flashed superD rom (super dwang) and its amazingly smooth! but i have 2g...dont have option for 3g and even with 2g i cant access the interent at all...no edge noting. i can only use WIFI.... with cyanogen latest rom its darn slow everything keeps force closing. apps dont run properly.....id unno why. there are many who are like its wow fast and me i am not getting the speed. i dunno what to do....can anyone plz help? i need 3g back or otherwise return to cyanogen but need to have speed and stability....
ah glad you made it back. no idea about the radio thing tho. im sure the information you need is out there but dont mess with the radio until you get it.
hey thanks...so right now i am on dwangs latest rom....and although i wasnt able to go on interent with my provider. i manually put in the apn's and to surf on 3g however with the dwang rom i cant seem to make it work for app2sd. i mean i created a partition and when i load i dun see a second part for my sd. and when i am installing apps it uses internal storage but not full but a partial. for example i installed a 4 mb app but i saw a 2 mb decrease on internal storage.
i . ll just start from the beginning. i installed a jesus freke ROM on my G1, i dont remember what version. i think it was 1.41 or something like that. (RC29 or RC33, idr). i downloaded an app or maybe it was an app that came with the ROM that let me know of jesus freke's updates. i hadnt checked it awhile as the G1 is not my primary device. when i checked for it last week, it showed an update and i attempted to install it. i completely forgot the procedure for updating a new image and im prretty i bricked it because it wont go past the android screen, even after waiting about 10-15 minutes, it still wont go past it. so my question is, can somebody please help me unbrick my G1? im in no hurry as im not using it on a daily basis, but id like to get this resolved as soon as possible so i can sell my G1. anyways, id appreciate it if someone could help. if so, can you give some detailed instructions as im not TOO familiar with android. i know a little about it, but too much.
thanks guys,
josh.
if you can access recovery mode, just go and reinstall other rom, i recommend cyanogenmod - user friendly and it got a complete guide on there website to install.
youll have to expand on that a little more, like i said, im not that familiar with android.. i dont have an SD card in there, and i suppose that might pose a problem trying to flash another ROM to it.. can you give me some links and some specific directions when you have a chance..? i'd greatly appreciate it.

This right here is why I say don't root if you don't know wtf you're doing. This always happens to people who should have just stayed away. Look:
Power phone completely off. Hold home key and power on. If you get to the recovery screen (the screen with a bunch of options, probably all written in green for you) then you're not bricked. All you need to do is put latest cyanogenmod on your sdcard, wipe your phone, and install it.
Hey guys, please forgive me if I misuse my terminology here but I am still a padawan learner.
My wife's hero is rooted and running a cyanogen rom. All was well for months but now her usb plug is broken and NOT charging. I have not yet verified that the usb won't talk to the pc but I assume it's the case because I can't get the thing to charge. Of course i have tried 5 or 6 diff chargers, tried wiggling, etc. but i am convinced that there is a broken prong in the phones plug. The phone is under warranty for 2 more days but I understand that I need to flash it back to stock before trying warranty stuff.
I have searched and the answers I have found are to simply run the latest RUU from the htc website. I found it, no problem, but it is an .exe file and would require the usb to work, right? The phone is dead right now or i would test the usb>pc connection and I have arranged to briefly borrow a friend's battery later tonight. If i can't get the connection to work is there any other way to flash this thing back to stock? If I just download a stock rom and flash that then i will still be rooted right? Do they check that? and lastly what about running an OTA update? Any advice/ideas are greatly appreciated.
Come to think of it, I might have the original naandroid backup that i did of the phone back in the day. If i restore this, would it go back to stock?
Here's what you can do:
Go HERE and download the S-OFF bootloader.
Flash it
Download THIS - its the zip that gets uploaded/flashed when you run the RUU.
And..as per instructions on that page:
Simply rename this to HERCIMG.zip and place on the root of your SDCard.
Power your phone completely off.
Press and Hold VOL DOWN and POWER until your phone boots into HBoot mode.
Wait for it to verify the zip, then click <ACTION> (Trackball) to update, or <SEND> (Green Call) to cancel.
After it flashes you'll have a stock phone, with the stock bootloader
Its the same setup I have on my phone..Just in case I need to un-root on the fly Except I have two zips. One with the stock bootloader and one without so I can keep it unlocked.
Gotta love XDA, thanks so much. I may have found it if I had thought about searching for "stock sprint zip format". Hopefully the next guy will find this. I have been helped by your advice many times throughout the forums in my searches.

And you're welcome that's why I'm here
Not working (yet)
Hi, another noob here: SAKKA.
I also need to revert to stock. I already switched the phone number (just upgraded and giving Hero to daughter). So have to push everything from Mac via USB. Unable to d/l md5sum: a77a2dee8e903e8f1a18b28b5c5e0b40 b/c it won't connect (too old?) Have HERC in root, did steps 1-4. But no go. Is there someway I can chat and get some help? Or do you know where i can chat now that AOSP is no longer running an online chat room (as far as I know)?
do u have any idea how old this thread is
Oh.
D'oh. Thanks.
That being said. Know how I can find someone to talk me through this?

There is this help page :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13479613
I always unroot with this:

Then I root with the "one click method"

Both never fail me....
Good luck

V's CDMA Hero
i tried this! it was on the updating part and when it was almost done, the htc screen appear and it started all over with s-off. so it said fail.
Just curious, if phone is already activated to her # then why go back to horrible stock.
If u want a stock ROM flash liquid sense or nfx.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=643
From either of those two ROMs u can do all that stock can.. like activation, PRL updates, etc.....
So unless its going for service under warranty there is no need to unroot to stock.
Good luck
