I am trying to find information regarding the Rom that is on my HTC 8925.
When the phone boots up I do have a splash screen that says Dutty's Series.
I go into Settings>System>Device Information to find:
ROM version: Touch v6.1 WWE
ROM date: 02/19/08
Radio Version: 1.70.OliNex
Protocol version: 25.65.30.04h
What ROM do I have and where can I have find some information regarding this ROM? I have done some searches for Touch v6.1 WWE and Dutty v6.1 WWE, but to no avail.
Thank you in advance.
from the ROM date and the fact that u have a dutty's splash screen (which doesnt really accurately show what rom you are using) this would most likely be your rom.

Thank you for responding.
How do I update my radio?
I am pretty green, when it comes to modifying anything like this. Plus, I do not want to do anything that I could possibly render my phone useless for awhile, since I do not know what I am doing.
Thank you for your assistance.
Radio Upgrade
Do I really need to upgrade my radio?
I am frankly scared to death to do anything like this with my phone in the fear of bricking it.
Thank you.

Ill help you out. What you do is go into the radio thread and down load a different radio. I use 1.65.21.18 with Josh's new 6.5 super ram. When you download the file it will show up like a new rom. Flash it like you would a rom. and you are done. It really is trial and error to find the one that works best in your area. If you need any more help just let me know. I was the new guy not to long ago so I feel your pain. While in the radio thread read all the posts when you can and it will help.

I have only had the phone about a month, so I am just trying to get use to it. So, If I am having trouble with signal and/or battery, I may not know it as of yet.
Once again, I am very leary about flashing.
I was to My first time, but once you learn how and get used to it you will love trying out different roms

I know exactly how you feel Grey, but I thought sod it, best bet (someone correct me if i am wrong) hold down the camera key and hold in the soft reset button. If it comes up with the tricolour screen and it says something like SPL-1.0.OliPof. If that comes up the scary bit has been done and someones already put HardSPL on the phone. Chances are they have if you already have a custom ROM on it.
Now the hard bit will be is what ROM to put on it. Just read how to flash it but the easiest way is to do it from the SD card, and always flash the HTC stock ROM between custom ROMS, it helps u avoid any problems.
hello i am sort of a noob on flashing phones, i just got my T-MOBILE Touch Pro 2, im very pleased with it, i downloaded the EURO WM 6.5 and..3G wouldnt work..and my keyboard mapping was wrong, i switched back to TMO Stock ROM, now i am look for the best stable fast running fun ROM,
ive seen many impressive ROMS outhere, but again im a noob, iam looking for a ROM that supports TMO 3G as in CoralSprings FL i have full 3G signal, please i would really appriciate your help, thanks in advance..
It all depends on what you install and what you use your phone way. Best way to find out is to read ROM threads, and flash and enjoy. Just make sure you have HardSPL before you flash custom ROM.
Mate I'm a complete noob as well.....
You just posted the same thread two days ago.
People posted help there.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572868&highlight=tmobile+keyboard
now go here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550559&highlight=tmobile+keyboard
It has all the T-mobile keyboard fixes.
Now you can use any ROM you like.
Don't ask people for the "best" or "most stable" ROM. Cause nobody knows what "the best" or "most stable ROM" is. It will depend on your own personal taste and situation. Give 'em a try and find something you like.
Oh and finally. I started on the Touch Pro 2 a couple of days ago. Had never used a WINMO phone before, never flashed, applied a cab, or anything. Although I've managed to do all of the above with a bit or "searching" and reading of this forum. Use the "Search" tool, it's excellent. And only ask a question if you've searched and searched and searched and still can't find the answer.
Best of luck
HDSPL then flash them all and you will find one that fits for you.
ikno guys, i already hardspl, but idont want to keep flashing and flashing, but yea isee what you guys mean, im downloading the energy rom, looks pretty cool, and alot support for TMO users,
thanks for ur response.

ooo yeah i had 4gten bout that post, sorry,
so i also read that the 3G depends on ur radio, can u guys help with that? please,
I haven't heard about that because my 3G worked right out the box with stock radio.
But I have the latest HTC and it seems to be working real well. Also read positive posts about it so give it a try.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4360836&postcount=2
BTW, their is NO WAY to return back to the stock radio once you flashed a new radio. UNTIL someone finds a way to release it to us.
wel mine too, but when i had the custom rom, it didnt work.
Please find your own ROM, today's best might nott be tomorrows best, and you might not like what someone else likes.

Hi all,
I've had a GT-I9000 for over 6 months now and I haven't really tried too much stuff on it except for an official firmware update and OCLF, and as an XDA member this is my first post.
I'm currently running Froyo 2.2 (I9000DDJP2, kernel 2.6.32.9), everything was fine until my phone started to lag like hell and lots of force closes and reboots which is really pissing me off now. I was planning to wait for the official gingerbread update, however I think XDA already has tons of Gingerbread ROMS out there ready to be flashed. Also, I saw a few videos of I9000 running cyanogenmod which looked awesome. So i decided to give it a shot.
I'm a total noob at flashing, and to be honest, this will be my first time trying it out. Can you please suggest which is the best gingerbread ROM out there for I9000 and can it be flashed using ROM manager or do i need to follow the ODIN method.
Also, one very very dumb question , what is the difference between a ROM and a kernel, and is it required to flash both of them separately, if yes then which one should go first.

You need to read everything, especially if you don't know the difference between a kernel and a rom. You are no where near flashing, I'm saying this so you don't brick your phone.
Go to general thread and read through the stickies as these will lead you in the right direction. Once you have understood all of them, then proceed to flash.
Cyanogen is not for beginners so stay away.
Gingerbread roms that are supposed to be good are Juwes, Insanity, Simply Honey and Doc's. There are many GB roms but these seem to be the most popular.
Read everything until you know everything for sure and then go and flash
Good luck

Thanks for your reply... I'll start off with the reading i suppose, coz obviously i dont wanna brick my device... I've read that Insanity can be flashed directly using ROM Manager... Is this true?? If yes then can I try that one first, coz it seemed to be an easy enough method to flash a custom rom...
You also have to understand that Gingerbread is in effect Beta not released and devs still working on it in XDA . If you are capable of unbricking your phone dont mind breaking it then carry on otherwise wait for official release update through official method backup the firmware then customize as you want .

However as a consolation prize, you receive the home version of our game as well as the same answer the 385 previous contestants received...."All are good but it is a very subjective thing, try them all and see which one suits you best."
Thanks for playing our game, and happy Androiding.

Thanks i'll keep that in mind, i guess the best thing for me would be to wait for an official release... Till then i can try out the minor tweaks and stuff, hopefully i'll be able to understand how to use ODIN properly...

Well usually I would ignore such a flaming reply, but since you are soooo good with statistics, i'm guessing you have nothing better to do than to count the number of noobs on XDA...
Well if so is the case, then best of luck, you might just reach 1000 since not everyone is an expert like you...
No one faults the fact that you are new to Android, in many ways we all are, especially myself. However, there are numerous posts that explain and educate that are meant to be READ, not just skipped in the hope that someone will tell you the magic secret of Android while standing on foot.
XDA is one of the greatest resources you will find for learning about Android and finding the best software solution for you....use it. It will be time well spent.

How about responding with a link to a thread that does have good information on available Gingerbread ROMS. I have searched and have not found it yet. Obviously based on your response there are hundreds of threads about this topic. Why not offer up at least one that we can check out? Obviously I am not typing in the exact magical phrase in the search box that reveals this supposedly abundant information.

Hi all,
I have Incredible S, all from the factory (software, Sense..etc)
I would like to know step by step how to :
1- Install a new ROM.
2- Having the news HTC Sense 3.5 on it and also if that have any negatives or if something might not work.
3- The latest ROM I can install.
4- Any additional info you think I should know as I am new to Android and HTC world.
Thank you,
Michel
The best bit of advice I can give you is search, search, search! All the info you need dude has already been asked and answered so hit that search button and spend a bit of time finding it out for yourself. Best place to start is the development forum where you can learn and download many different ROMs and find out which is the best one for you. Good luck...and welcome!
yep, you are right,
but sometimes when you are totally new to something you need some help at least with knowing the name of the best ROM as I've found many of them with different issues.

Go read the sticky threads in the Dev section. You have some work ahead of you before you can flash a custom Rom.
Yes, I went, and all is ready, my PC and my mobile,
the only thing I need is a ROM which doesn't have problems and won't effect my device plus a new version of Sense.

Ok, then nandroid backup and start flashing Roms then. Only you will be able to determine which Rom will fit your criteria. What you may think is a 'problem' on one Rom may not be that big of deal to someone else, so just start trying them yourself.
Problems like WiFi, Camera, SD Card, Backlight, Bluetooth.. all these are problems which I think might be issue for all users .
only a starting name would be enough to me

I would agree totally with all of those which is why I personally have not even tried any of the Sense 3.0 Roms. IMHO the current GB 2.3.3 Rom with Sense 2.1 runs just fine on my IncS so I won't be able to offer you any suggestions.
Revolution HD has no known issues download that and stop complaining. There is no "best ROM" try them all, the only thing you have to lose is bandwidth and time.
I use Newt pyramid beta 3 sense 3.0 gb 2.3.4 its stable, crazy fast, as current as you can get, and if you check the last of the comments almost all of the bugs have been fixed.

My thoughts too, the only glitch that bugs me is that I sometimes lose my gsm signal here at home. I don't think there's a fix.

try a new radio...
I find the 20.2810 one has great signal
Is that a newer one than I have now? I received a 30mb update recently. Any negatives effects with it, battery life?
My current radio is 20.208.30.085AU_3805.06.03_M

yeah it's the newest. I think it works perfectly and has the best signal of all the radios I've tried
Right, I might have to look into that, just hopes it improves things for me.
I'm still considering returning the phone though due to the signal drop outs, I'm a bit reluctant to root or do anything that'll stop me from being able to return it. Can I take it that running an RUU will put everything back to stock, including radio and S Off?
Yes. If you root using AlpaharevX and not a permanent root using a gold card then flashing a stock RUU will bring you back to S-on. Give it a go, I did, happy so far and have the stock RUU downloaded and ready to go if need be.
I don't think I need a Gold Card with it being a sim free unit? So it should be just a case of following this guide http://is.gd/5wKZRZ and then flashing a different radio?
If I don't like the results then I should be able to run an RUU to get me back to stock?

The beauty of it is there are many ROMS to chose from, and the captivate is pretty much unbrickable (trust me, I've screwed up about 20 times in the past month alone) and I've brought it back to a working phone every time, so try flashing one or two, see how you like it.
The reason you can't find any threads on " what the best rom is " is because the best rom doesn't exist. The features I find to suit my needs may not suit yours.
Do you want a 2.2 rom? There are many of those to choose from, all stable.
Maybe a 2.3 rom, the newest samsung leaks, a few different features from 2.2
Since you're a beginner I don't recommend flashing ICS , those are still in beta form, thats just a brick waiting to happen.
So, pick a rom and read what it offers, if it fits those needs flash it, play with it for a few days if you don't like it flash your second choose, but seriously. READ READ READ, watch some of the videos that accompany the rom before you do anything, thats the best advice I can give you.
Be sure to Read all of the "Sticky" Threads... they have this stuck to them... View attachment 843677

Darkyrom
Try darkyrom. It's super easy to flash, gives great battery life and is smooth as butter. Just go to darkyrom.com and under the forum section, go to base roms and download the JVP base, extract it and run odin, the rest of instructions are all in the forum =)
