ok thanks...shame tho, dont think ill go back to hero for a while..loved it!
but, i love my txts better..

I need my texts as well. I am on jachero 1.6rb and I got all my txts. With other hero roms I did not get all my txts. SO if you want get jac 1.6rb

agreed. jac 1.6r2b (sounds like a droid from star wars) has been the best rom as far as sms goes. i am pretty sure i got them all... meaning nobody called me asking if i got their text or sent a reply saying hello? lol

thing is, i dont when i lose my txts. the only reason i knew i was losin txts was cuz i was using this messages widget..in launcher, not rosie.
when a txt came up, sms popup popped up showing an Old text..and i just dismissed it.
but when i went to the messages widget, i saw my new txt, but when i opened up messaging or chomp sms, it wasnt there. i tried clicking it from the messages widget to open it, then it just disappeared.
ive been using hero for a while, and i didnt have that messages widget...so i wonder how many txts i wuld av lost without even knowing - and well..nobody calls to check if i got their txt..they just think im ignoring them...(which i do alot anyway).
i was using jac 1.6..i think a, i actually sent and received a couple of txts the night i flashed it, so i didnt suspect anything. the next day's the day i realized id lost some.

ur not really gonna lose messages from the 1.6 whatever though are you, aint that upgrade only? But I'm sure there are some scripts that will backup your sms. Look for the gscripts thread, it may be in there.

Sense Rom without apps2sd?

Hi, i was wondering if you guys know of any good sense roms without the need for apps2sd? I remember using tinyhero and liked it, but cant find it anymore. Im sorry, i tried finding it on my own but i dont know how to search it without bringing up everything that requires apps2sd. I will be getting the Incredible in a few weeks so i dont wanna bother buying a new class6 sd for just that long.

close this thread mods.
Is that the only other one that doesn't require EXT? I've tried that one and had problems with not receiving all of my texts. Thanks for the quick reply tho!

Only one that I'm aware of.
I honestly won't waste my time though. Why would you want 1.5 when we are catching up on 2.1
1.5 to 1.6 to 2.0 to 2.1
That'll be like going back to RC17 and being content.
Haha good point. I just like the layout of sense and wanna play around with it sometimes. I'd probably get tired of the slowness after a day or so tho

[q] Has anyone NOT ON SPRINT gotten mms working in AOSP roms?

I am well aware that MMS sending works for sprint, so if your a sprint customer, I don't care that yours works.
I have successfully input my carriers mmsc settings into multiple roms. I can get mms sending to work under any sense rom just fine. I cannot get it to work under AOSP, I have tried under CM6, DD2.8, and Csrom.
Has anyone who is on a carrier other than sprint ever gotten mms sending to work in an AOSP rom?
Yeah I have the same Issues. Also on all the AOSP roms my carrier still shows as Sprint, wish i could change that one too
dont think they will until someone cracks the MMS.apk for sprint.
FROM WHITERABBIT
"Sprint uses "Picture Mail" instead of MMS, which probably saves them some money or something, but causes problems when using phones off of Sprint. Maybe that isn't the case any more, but it definitely was within the past year or two."

I don't get what your implying here. I can send mms with my carrier no problem using sprint roms, its the aosp ones that give me trouble.
Any update on this? I, too, am on ACS.
I've been trying to soak in as much information as possible browsing these forums so that I can tweak my phone to my liking without bricking it. I finally jumped in and rooted a little over a week ago and flashed the Aloysius ROM I found on here. I lost my voicemail notifications, but thanks to another thread, I got that back. Now, I just need a cure for the MMS on AOSP ROMs.
Don't want this thread to die.
Aloysius is not an AOSP rom, its based off of damage control which is sprint based and thats why you didn't get voice mail notifications. This of course means you should be able to get working mms.
Download apn backup & restore from the market. extract the attatched zip file and stick the xml file in a folder on your sd card named ApnBackupRestore.
Run the app and delete all apns. then restore from my acs.xml file and you should be good to go.
O/T good to see more ACS customers on here!

Learn something everyday.
Right on Man, thanks much.
Check out the Eris forums. Kaos Froyo is a CM/AOSP rom and mms works in it. Btw the Eris is a Verizon phone.
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
just tried it, didn't work in that rom I don't even get the network traffic lights like its trying to send. Thanks to the anykernel patcher thing it was stupid simple to get the eris rom running on the hero thanks for pointing out the eris forum as I found a froyo version of buufed there that I'm going to try.

You're welcome. You can also get that theme by downloading the new adw launcher and theming it in adw settings with the free theme from the market.

I've tried the theme but its kinda half assed compared to the fully themed rom. This is getting way off topic so I'll end it there.

This may be a dumb question but how are you running Eris roms on your Hero? Can I run Hero roms on my Eris?
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
I changed the kernel. You could run hero roms on your eris by flashing an eris kernel into the hero rom. I didn't have working wifi, bluetooth or rotation sensors but I can probably get those working if put some effort in. Wifi I don't care about as the wifi on these phones is a JOKE seems to cap out at 1.5 to 2mbit throughput so might as well just use 3g.
I haven't got that far yet. I'm not brave enough (or I should say don't know enough) to do that yet. But thanks for the insight.
