Alright so my friend gave me his g1 after he had broke it. He went to the beach and got sand in it. After awhile the flex cable broke and the phone stopped working. I took it apart today and dismantled the phone and took the cable out. I dusted out MOST of the sand from the boards and other stuff inside of the phone.
Anyways, back to my original question. can someone identify this flex cable for me and possibly point me to a website or auction that stocks them?

From the HTC Service Manual
Attached is what the service manual shows.
A quick google of the part number reveals this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481968
You'll find links to suppliers and an old ebay auction. $26.99, not a bad price for a working G1.
thanks a bunch man! that helped a ton. i didn't bother reading more than the disassembly guide in the service manual but thanks for pointing that out. can't wait to use the g1!

thanks, but i know where to buy it, i'm looking for a way to take out the keyboard. i'm assuming, if what your saying is correct, i have to take the whole phone apart??
i saw that, what i'm asking, is it possible to just change the rubbery keyboard and not have to do open heart surgery??!!

Hi all,
I have bought some new housing for my Vario III [just front and back] as mine has become slightly damaged, due to ware & tear.
Is anyone here farmiliar with changing the housing on a Vario III / Tytn II? Managed to also get a T6 screwdriver, but just need a little bit of advice on what to do next.
Look on the back on the front facia, I can see that there are a total of 7 T6 screws:

}
But which ones should I be removing, in order to remove the front facia with ease?
All the help I can get would be helpful, as I don't want to mess this up.
Cheers all!
If I remember correctly there is a Service manual somewhere in the wiki,
download it and see if you can find it in there
Ok, just looked thru the Service manual... and I would have to completely dismantle the whole MDA in order just to replace the front part of the housing, is that correct?
Seems like alot of work IMO!
that is correct...It will take you half an hour 2 dismantle the first time.... after that : 5 minutes will do.
This thread may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337102&highlight=open+kaiser
Also mike channon has some dismantling guides on his website
Hi Guys,
As a present I'm looking for the original purple cover (the factory one) for my gf's htc tattoo (not purple rain, the purple cover you could've purchased the tattoo with).
So far my research on the intertubes came up empty handed.
Does anybody have an idea where I could find one (as I'm from austria, central european region is preferred, but not essential)?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Alex
Purple? Mine's gray.

probably, as this is something I can neither confirm nor decline.
But at least on htc's webpage there are serveral different colors shown, one of which is purple.
br,
Alex
Why don't you design your own Tattoo cover? Look here, did this in 3 minutes and it would cost only 15€:

yeah, I do know that this option exists, already given it some thought - but the lack of creativity....
the pictures you posted look actually very nice, did you design that one yourself?
Any chance of making this cover public, or letting me use it?
Thanks in advance!
Alex
edit:
Figured it out - sorry!
So, are you happy with the quality?
My kaiser heats on keyboard am not sure what happened..

the lightest is the hottest part.. am sure this is hardware part buy you guys know more about the hardware .. what you think it was??
Am planning to disassemble my Kaiser and I found some manual, though in PDF.. but I need a video guide! If you know where to find, can you please share?
P.S.
I already asked Uncle Google.
ok I have managed to disassembly my Kaiser and found on something on the board.. most likely it's one of the possibilities why my Kaiser heats..
check the image below.
The encircled part was the source of the heat, most probably the first image... or the second .. am not sure.
here's the image shack link
http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/2717/new2i.jpg
the 2nd image where the resistor was disaligned and it should be like the 3rd image.. am not sure what happened with that.. can you give some advice on how to fix this without going to HTC service center?

IMPORTENT UPDATE:
After trying everything, including the replacement of this part, I've found a solution!
The solution is replacing the home button flex cable! I probably damaged it when I've taken the device apart...
This is the home button flex cable:

}
* I didn't want to take a chance of damging other parts so I just ordered a complete piece of the fort cover, including the flex cable:

Hope this'll help other poeple fix there devices too! :victory:

Hi,
Maybe you should visit the nearest Samsung service center...

Does the home button work in recovery? It's a long shot but has happened to me a couple of times before.
