I have an unlocked bootloader, and I have been rooted before.

flashing through fastboot?
Is the file corrupt? try downloading another copy
I see that most CM7's require the new hboot. I have flashed, pushed, fastbooted, just about anything you can do with ADB and am quite comfortable with it but i can't find anywhere the instructions on just "how to" flash the new hboot to the N1. Is it as easy as placing the zip on the sd and flashing through recovery or is there more to it? I even tried looking in the Wiki and it showed the newest hboot but not how to flash. Thanks in advance!!
I thought it was possible to flash from recovery but after some digging around i'm not so sure now. Best to check with somebody who has done this
I flashed new hboot using cw recovery just this morning. No worries.
Thanks for the reply!

Hi, am trying to flash my HBOOT, downloaded d6096cac5e9f.signed-hboot-0.35.0017.zip and currently trying to flash but getting this error:
Code:
$ ./fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... OKAY
writing 'hboot'... INFOadopting the signature contained in this image...

The phone is unlocked and fastboot can see the device, any ideas?

I think what they are saying is you can flash that .zip through clockwork and not worry about fastboot. Try that and let me know if that works for you.
just disable verification check and then flash. worked for me
Just in the process of rooting the phone... just rooted it and about to install RA recovery.. guess I'll flash it through that
Just tried to flash in RA Recovery got the following:
Code:
Install:d6096cac5e9f.signed.hboot-0.35.0017.zip?
Press Trackball to confirm,
any other key to abort.
Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:No signature (8 files)
E: Verification failed
Zip verification failed!
Zip isn't signed correctly!
Installation aborted.
Surely if the thing is signed then there shouldn't be a problem with the signature?
Check the md5 on the file...

Hi,

Try this in AR recovery and see if you can flash then.
In AR recovery main menu select flash zip, then in that menu under "select zip" is toggle verification. Select that once and you will get a warning that unsinged zip can corrupt. then you can choose "select zip" and flash the hboot zip from the sd card.

I don't think that's correct. It should be: fastboot flash misc whatever_hboot_you_want.img

Thanks for the tip, just wondering if anyone can confirm the md5sum, there isn't one shown on the sticky for kernels and radios.
Cheers

That's the correct value. Note that the d6096cac5e9f is the prefix of the sha1 checksum.

Hi.
For begging - I googled, wrote on polish forum, searched here but nothing found. I have HTC G1 (polish edition), 32B PVT.
I decided to flash Cyanogen 6.1. I downgraded system to RC29, flashed recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G, then HardSPL. Its what i have when I'm trying to write radio trough recovery:
Code:
E:failure at line 2:
assert gerprop("ro.product.device")=="dream"||gerprop("ro.build.product")=="dream"
installation aborted.
And trough Fastboot:
Code:
C:\fastboot flash radio radio.img
sending 'radio' <21504 KB>... OKAY [ 7.726s]
writing 'radio'... FAILED <remote: partition does not exist>
finished. total time: 7.733s
Can you help me? Thanks in advance.
Anyone? Im stucked with android 1.0 atm.

Hi,
I have unlocked the bootloader using HTC Dev site and it is unlocked.
Then I have got a permanent root using HTC Super Tool v3 and I have root access.
S-ON. So when I downloaded the zip file, copied it to root of the sdcard with the name of "update.zip" and then followed the procedure for S-ON, I get the error when I try to "Apply sdcard:update.zip"
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Please advice. Thanks

If your bootloader is unlocked even though it says s-on you should be able to use the s-off recovery.
Thanks whpsnp. That worked just fine using the first part of S-OFF method.

I can confirm that the S-OFF method does indeed work with S-ON if the bootloader is unlocked.

You need to keep the update.zip on your sd card if you have s-on and the bootloader is locked.

For the past few months, HTC keeps telling me that I have to update my software, so I try each time downloading the OTA software but every time it updates, it says that the installation is aborted and failed to complete.
The Software is currently at 7.17.666.7 but I need to update to 7.17.666.35
Here's the message I receive when trying to update:

Also side note: My HTC one fails to charge via wall outlet and now I have to use USB charging via PS4, PC or TV. Could the reason why the wall outlet stops charging is because of the software update?
Some help would be grateful!

unexpected contents = You rom is not stock. To install an ota update, you need the stock recovery, stock /system files and stock /data/preload files. Any modification to these files will make the ota installation fail. Backup your personal files and flash the 7.17.666.35 RUU which will bring your phone back to stock and maybe at the same time it will fix your charging problem. After flashing the RUU you'll be able to install all the .35 and .51 ota updates.

I used the fastboot provided in the link you gave above, and I don't know why the bootloader is still unlocked. I retried again renaming the bootloader.exe to htc_bootloader.exe and same Fail message came above.

You must relock your bootloader to flash a ruu on a s-on phone. It's all said in the instructions.

Alright, after doing that I reran it, realized I got the HBOOT 90 error, for some reason my command prompt froze each time I tried redoing the RUU.zip, so I had to pull out the USB while it remained being in flash mode, then put it back in, flash the zip and then finally managed to get it working and now it's back to the current software update, Thanks for all your help!
