Suddenly I find I cannot open any html files from the device. PIE, Opera mini, File Explorer and Resco File Explorer all give the same error "The file "xxxx" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found". Same happens with apps which have to access offline html files.
Works fine online - just affects files stored on the device or storage card. Hope someone can help.
I have flashed to 1.37 Malaysia WWE ROM, under the 3D touch flow, when I click the browser, it opens to HTC site instead of a local search page like 1.34ROM. Is there a way I change it?
I have changed the startup homepage in opera setting but it didn't change the default page when you launch the browser from 3D touch flow.. any ideas to have it changed? thanks

when u open it at the adress bar u see from where the file (URL) is its shortcut in windows make a shortcut of a browser in your pc and name it the same thing as u had that is ( windows\htc-opera.html) so with your pc make a shortcut of internet adress u like and the save it to your desktop and then rename it to htc-opera.html and copy this to your device windows folder thats it !!
I have done that but it seems the opera launcher in 3D touch flow is hardcoded to www.htc.com. In fact under the globe icon in 3D touch flow, it has a line www.htc.com . I forget whether it is the same in 1.34 ROM. But so far I am not able to change that...
anyone got any idea? thanks
ok, i got tricked by this as well.
Look underneath the earth in the browser panel.
It says "Launch Browser - www.htc.com"
So I guess it always launches to htc.com.
To launch Opera only and on your predefined start page, use the Right softkey when on the browser panel. It's labeled BROWSER.
Irritating
i noticed the browser softkey, but i think there must be a way to change this... it seems this is not an issue with 1.34 rom
I finally resolved this issue; anyone who has the same problem go to "Application Data" folder and delete this file: InternetPortal-en-AU.xml. or you can edit the InternetPortal-en-AU.xml file , it will then go to whatever URL you have changed in InternetPortal-en-AU.xml when you launch it by the Globe Icon, don't worry, the Globe is still there. As a rule of thumb, back up the file before you make changes
Please note that this InternetPortal-en-AU.xml is a read only file, you need to copy it to your PC for editing the URL you want to go when you hit the Globe Icon. First, uncheck the "read only" tab in file properities. then edit it with notepad on PC. After you are done, rename it to InternetPortal-en-AU-new.xml ( your file extension may be hidden) , copy it back to Diamond's" Application Data" folder. then launch "File Explorer" in your Diamond, then go to "Application Data" folder, rename InternetPortal-en-AU to InternetPortal-en-AU-bak then rename InternetPortal-en-AU-new to InternetPortal-en-AU, You are done !

So what does the screen show now? I mean before you tap on the browser.
Is it still the globe, just without directing you to the htc official site?
without the file, it will go to whatever homepage you have set in Opera's setting, or you can edit the InternetPortal-en-AU.xml file , it will then go to whatever URL you have changed in InternetPortal-en-AU.xml when you launch it by the Globe Icon, don't worry, the Globe is still there. Thanks vaio for web browser tip!

I've finally got time to try this out, & it works like a charm! thank you so much!
Now... would it be possible to change the browser icon to something of personal preference? I saw a path inside the *.xml & it directed to a banner.qtf or something. Or is it embedded?
Anyway, just want to thank you for this huge help.
princEd, thanks for your kind words.. will keep searching for tweaks..
Hi all, can anyone post the original script for "InternetPortal-en-AU.xml" Thanks in advance..
Hi.
I don't have this XML file in Application Data too, and my Internet Tab is just useless : the globe button does strictly nothing, neither do the "browser" or "more" bottom buttons, and the youtube link below the globe displays an error message about missing file or incorrect certificate.
So I would like to :
make the "Launch Browser" button launch Opera 9.5b or at least Internet Explorer
if possible, make it launch my homepage or a customizable page
remove this Youtube link
learn how to add other links
having a link/button to one-click des/activate WLAN would be just GREAT
Can somebody post the content of the XML file ?
And of course, if anybody knows how to achieve any of the above...
Thanks in advance
Phone: HTC Touch Diamond
Original ROM (strangely hadn't TF3D though, had to install tlr-manila-38.cab)
TF3D version: 1.1.34569.0_1630.38
Opera 9.5 Beta (bizzarely located: \Program Files\9.5 Beta\opera9.exe), IE
try reinstalling an opera cab, it may ask you to remove the old version if you have one. reset and try again.
doesn't change anything
I have this problem with Opera Mobile 9.5 where I try to download a cab file to install on my phone but it instead opens the cab file as text. There isn't a "Save file as" option in the menus so how can I download the cab file without opening it as text?
Type in opera:config and check through the settings, or you could reinstall.
Guys I am having this problem also and need to fix it.
The thing is when I type :config in Opera and try to log into settings nothing happens. Please how can I remove that **** Opera off my phone?????????
Need to install all the cabs that I need...
Any help would be appreciated, thanks
I have never had any problem downloading anything with Opera... Actually, I tend to try and use Opera to download with because it's download manager works so well.
It sounds like you have a setting off somewhere in your phone... probably with Opera, assuming you can download with IE just fine.
Also, you want to type in the address bar "opera:config" without the quotation marks, and that is where you will find the advanced settings that control downloads with Opera.
As well, maybe try downloading a different version of Opera? I like this one:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ywydu3iczxn/WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9-build_15954_WWE_QVGA.CAB
That is not what I mean.
I downloaded files throught my PC, hooked Omnia to it and copied the files to the phone's SDcard.
The cab files of all progs are "branded" Opera. meaning if you want to run them, they open through Opera and not execute style. Got it?

Ah, ok... I don't think that is the same problem they were having... I don't know what the solution to that would be, since a .cab file is an .exe file written to run a PPC, thus when you click on it, it should run itself without any other program opening it...
I would say try downloading the cab files directly on to your phone with the built in browser, save them to your memory card of course...
But if you are copying a .cab file on to your phone, and using file explorer to launch it, there is no reason it shouldn't work, it is a self executing file that doesn't look for a mother program to run it... Unless somehow you have managed to change them so that they try and open with Opera, either through your phone settings or properties of the cab itself type thing.
I think I have no choice but to disable or uninstall Opera in some way.
If someone can help me to do this, I think I can manage with the cab files then...
I don't think that will fix your problem. Those files will still be linked to Opera. And if Opera is part of your ROM, you can't uninstall it... actually even if you loaded it yourself, unless you did one of the uninstallable versions, it can't be uninstalled...
At this point, it would help if you gave more information:
What, if any mods, you have done to your phone?
What program did you use to copy the files to the SD card?
Where did you get the cab files?
Heck, what cab files are they?
These mods:
http://www.samsung-omnia.org/how-to/howwhatwherewhichwhywhen/
And the cab files are related to advanced configuration tools, Omnia patched dialler, SPB mobile shell and a couple others.
You might want to ask that forum for assitance? It looks like they are pretty dedicated to the Omnia, which most everyone here does not have one. This forum is for the HTC Kaiser specifically, and the site as a whole is dedicated to HTC devices. Perhaps post in the general section of this site, but I think you will have better luck with the omnia site you got all of your cabs from.
In general, without having screen shots, or hands on knowledge of the cab files you are trying to use, about all I can say(and anybody really) in this forum is that there is something corrupt with the .cab files or your file explorer is corrupted. I would bet the .cab files are corrupted, and that somewhere along the way you did something wrong. Maybe you skipped a step in the whole process, and Opera is coming up not because they are tagged to run through Opera, but because it is suggesting to search for something using your default browser.
It really is hard to say, but I would suggest asking that forum for some support. Also, I would flat out re-download all the cabs straight to your phone from the site, not your computer. This will make sure you don't have any issues with the sync process. As well, save them to the root of you SD card, in other words not in a folder.
Sometime i got this problem but it seem it happen when the page is not fully loaded
Do you open cab files through Opera?
Open link in new tab
Hi
I have also had this problem with opera version 9.5.16277. I have found a couple of work arounds:
1) Tap and hold on the link and then select "Open in new tab"
2) Tap and hold on the link and select "Copy link location". Then manually open a new tab and paste the address into the address bar.
I have found that if 1) above does not work 2) will.
Cheers

Sometimes it's the website itself.
For example, for Josh's Test ROM, if we click directly (even on PC) on the link, it'll open the zip file on the page. I had to 'right-click' and 'save the link as' to save the file.
It might be some code on the page ..
Input the two .reg files to the registry, should just solve the problem. You can use any regiedit tools or taskmgr.exe or total command to do it. If don't know how, please search some info first.

The above is my answer to origional poster of this thread.
But since this thread is already goes to off-topic, I would also write my comments:
Opera opens compressed file as text on page, is a big bug for opera software, it happens to both its mobile and desktop vdersions. But latest releases of Opera Mobile seems have some progress on this issue, although still can not completely avoid it.
Just downloaded Opera 10 Beta 2 and am having the following problem:
With the preloaded version Opera opens to the following page file://localhost/home with the Opera 10 I get an error telling me that it cant open or find this (i dont want to go there anyway) Where can I find the files to fix or remove this I would like to open to either my yahoo.homepage or the bookmark page. Thank you in advance!

i know typing in "about:config" in the browser brings up some customizable user configurations but I am not sure which one does what quite yet.
same problem as you can solve?
This is the link with the error
file://localhost/http://www.google.it
thanks
Anyone find a fix for this? It is really annoying. I love opera 10, thought deleting the previous version would fix and it doesn't. Any advice?

prepare filename named "home" (without extension) with this content:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=SOME_URL_HERE">
</head>
</html>
replace SOME_URL_HERE with webpage you want to open and copy this file to root directory of your device (not root of card)
after opening opera from TF3D it will redirect to page set in this file - no more /localhost/home error
woo hooooooo, no more file://localhost/home error!
postak05, you are a genius regarding the file://localhost/home problem! That concept works and it requires a little work to implement it.
Here is what i did: I created a text file named "home.txt" on a desktop computer using Notepad with the following text:
<html>
<head>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=link_starting_with_http">
</head>
</html>
I then saved the text file on my desktop and emailed it from my desktop to myself. I then opened my touch pro 2 email program, and saved the attached file to "memory". Then I had to use the file explorer on the phone to copy the emailed file from the "My Documents" folder to root (My Device). Now the tricky part. The emailed file has a .txt extension that is by nature not shown to the user in the windows mobile 6.5 OS. I had to download and install a program called "Total Commander 2.52" ( select the arm version of the Devices with touch screen (Total Commander Pocket+PocketPC Phone). The program allows you to rename and strip the .txt extension off the file so that it can be found by Opera 10.0. I would have posted the link to Total Commander but the forum would not allow.
Even if you strip .txt extension from the beginning using the desktop, once you email it to your phone, WM6.5 still assigns at the least a "." resulting in a file named "home." which Opera still cannot find or use.
I'm still not sure why Opera needs this file upon startup . . . the icon panel page would be great to see and not have to deal with an additional tag opening file://localhost/home.

Ok Well I have the problem that when I try to open a link from a email, it will open Opera no problem, but puts file://LocalHost/ in at the start everytime. Anyone know why?
so it will show file://LocalHost/http://www.msn.com
have a website that i use often and they had some domain issues recently - used to be able to get it on my mobile browser but not anymore (and the work pc's ban this site!) so it's a pain in the arse.
the site themselves mention editing hosts file names on the computer (i did this with the laptops at home and no problem now) but i can't seem to work out how to do this on my i9000. It's rooted and I have root explorer but under system/etc/hosts i'm not sure where to go from there (or even if that is the right place to be to edit the hosts files!)
any words of wisdom please?
I was just trying the same thing for similar reasons. did a 'mount' and it says / is a read-only system. I remember someone mentioning it here. Aha: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514698
cheers for the link - looks like some useful tips there though still a bit confused as never done any adb pushing from my computer so will have to read up about it.
trying to find a way to edit the hosts file from within the handset itself - not sure if i can do this with the terminal app?
An easier way to do this, on a rooted phone, is to use root explorer (remember to enable r/w) and go to /etc/hosts and edit it there. Or you can use es file explorer and enable root in settings.
thanks, i was also looking for a way to view and edit the hosts files. just tried a new ROM and it sort of block some popups that i wanted to appear.

thanks - tried root explorer in the past but couldn't find way to edit the hosts - didn't notice the 'mount as r/w'! - alas i'm still stuck - added hosts as per the website's instructions and still can't load the webpage, either by the www name or by ip address.

Have you restarted the phone and made sure it's not commented out and there's only one space between the addresses?

Um, if you can't get the website via the ip address, you have a problem routing. Ensure you have the correct ip address. If that is the correct ip address, and you can get to it from another computer, you may have to use a proxy to get to the site.
