Micro SD card size - HTC Breeze

Hello,
i've got a new (used) mteor, with the original operating system (WM5.0). I've put into it a 4gb micro SD, but the phone does not recognize it. The card came straight out of my TyTnII, and worked fine there.
Question: does the mteor have a size limit on card capacities?
thanks.

official SD driver in MTeoR doesn't support SDHC (4GB and higher) cards.
Moreover, WM5 is not designed for SDHC either.
SDHC support had been appeared with WM6. But special SD host driver comatible with SDHC should be supplied by manufacturer. HTC didn't that for MTeoR.
There is some SDHC package for MTeoR is floating around, but it's very buggy - SDHC card disappears after sleep and requires reinsertion.
In the meantime, i've wrote my own SDHC driver for MTeoR, but it's only for my personal use.

Thanks for the response.
If i understand correctly, in WM6.1 there is a chance that this memory card will work?
I've been thinking about putting another Rom on this phone, but am a bit hesitant. I've done it on several other phones (TytnII, Neo, etc.), but have become a bit hesitant. Sometimes the new Roms become "sticky", i.e. slow.
So the question for me is, are the available newer Roms for the mteor ok? Do they run without major issues? And, which one would you recommend for relatively stable running, not "playing", if you know what i mean?
I'm just asking for an opinion, nothing else.

You do not plan to share your driver with the community?

What is the largest SD card that can be used in an XDAIIi?

Hi,
A simple question but I couldn't find it categorically written down anywhere: What is the largest SD card that can be used in an XDAIIi?
Thanks a lot,
James.
Im not sure i know of any limit, but its worth noting that only a Transcend 80x SD card works properly and as far as i know they go up to 1gig.
Any other card (non 80x) causes problems with the XDA IIi and causes it to hang.
Thanks for the info. I've been using San Disk 256Mb cards for a while which seem to work fine (although one did get confused once and thought it contained stuff when it didn't so had to be reflashed).
I'll stick to Transcend when buying a new bigger one.
Thanks,
James.

That is not universally true. I have been using a SanDisk 1.0 GB Ultra II SD card in my XDA IIi for a number of months with no problems whatsoever.
Yeah, in fact i'd go sa far as to say it's not true, I'm using an Integral 60x 1Gb card and have not had any problems whatsoever.
The only problem I have found is that with 1gb cards the XDA2i seems to have a problem when accessing the card and accepting incoming communication at the same time e.g, reading the memory card whilst accepting a call or accessing GPRS. The phone seems to cut power/access to the memory card (disconnects it)and therefore makes the phone hang/freeze. This does not seem to be an issue with 512mb or lower sized cards only 1gb and above. I have tried many different brands and this seems to hold true. For SATNAV applications people advise 512mb cards or lower work best. Again this I have found to be with card accessing issues and 1gb+ cards seem to lose connection, admittedly some cut off slightly faster than others. I use a gb card for most of my apps, but if running TomTom I swap in a 256mb.
ok perhaps i shouldnt have said ONLY transcend cards but i was just trying to highlight that i know that they work fine in the XDAIIi.
Yes there are going to be more brands that work fine too, as far as i know its a voltage issue, anyway im not a htc technician so thats as far as my knowledge goes
I'm using a SanDisk Ultra II 2.0GB card with no problem at all in my Qtek 2020i with O2 rom
I have been doing some reserch into SD Cards because of this problem.
It seems to do with the layers in the card. If the card is of good quality and is a single layer they seem to work OK, if it is dual layer you could have problems.
It has everything to do with current to the card and little to do with card speed.
Single layer cards of high storage capacity are more expensive to produce, because of this even the big brands use dual layer cards.
Interesting stuff about the layers. Thanks for the info.
Has anyone tried the San Disk Ultra II Plus which is the one that can be folded so it can be plugged directly into a USB port too? They look really useful (although are hard to find at the moment at a decent price) as it means you have both USB flash memory and SD combined which I'd find useful when travelling.
Re: Single layer cards
Does anyone know the brands other than Trancsend who use the Single layer card build?
Thx
i'm using a 2GO Maxell SDcard X150 and it works fine.
no pb at all

I have 150x A-Data 2Gb. All is ok too...
I have a no-name 2 Gig crd and no issues (£84 from Novatech). Actually, 1 issue, bloody XDA locks up when removed from cradle more often than not & needs a soft reset. Other than that, zero probs...

Anyone had any luck with sdhc drivers?

I broke my ipaq2490b which worked flawlessly with Wm6.1 and SDHC cards.
Now I have got this imate phone edition and from what every post has said, there are no rom images that supports sdhc (Ive tried most of them (which seem uniformly good in all other respects) listed in this forum over the last few days). I have also tried cab files etc for a number of other wm6.1 devices, all without success with either of my SDHC cards.
Now my question is, is there *anyone* out there that has had any luck getting a sdhc card to work, or could hopefully speculate on the problem as I am at my wits end, and theres a huge difference between 16MB SDHC and any card thats vanilla SD.
NB I do know you can format 4GB SDHC cards to Fat16 (therefore making them SD 4GB cards) but I kinda am hoping to get my 16GB card working.
no need for a seperate post, there has been no working edition of SDHC driver yet , all the ones you find will either wont work or will corrupt your existing SD drivers
Fair enough, I couldnt find anything (recent) that definitely stated that.
Any idea on what the problem is? If you have any leads on the matter I may go off and experiment on stuff, as I am reasonably brave in that regard, and the imate is pretty useless to me with only my smallish sd card anyway, its worth the effort..
NB thanks for the roms!
its the drivers, some have got them to work and some devices are still lying but we shouldnt let our hops down as we are running WM6.1 on a devices which recieved the last official WM2003 Upgrade in year 2004

sdhc Kaiser II TeRrIbLy slow

Hi everyone
That's my first post! I've been hanging around here withwout becomming user so long...till now.
I have just bought an sdhc card ( dont know the class ) and it's working EXTREMELY SLOWWWW on my Kaiser TyTN II (htc) when I mean slow, i mean below usb1.0
I'm using Card Export II, compatibility with Hermes devices, and when writing a single mp3 through, ~6mb it takes 5 minutes. Transfer rate is below usb 1, and that was weird, so i've checked to transfer ~6mb to anotrher microSD card (256mb old card from old phone, nokia brand) and the song was copied pretty fast, reaching usb 1.0. bitrate
Imagine to copy a 400~mb film on my new card, even i can't copy mp3 ...to slow...ah, almost i forgot it, the new card, kingston sdHC with it's HC pc card reader works exellent, usb2.0.
How that can be possible? an old card is working at least 4fold times faster!!! than my new Kingston sdHC 4gb.
Any idea?
Really appreciate.
Any idea about that?
Someone is using a Kaiser II with Card Export II? having reeeaaaly slow data rate¿
thanks
As you know, the Kaiser only supports USB 1.1 and thus (s)low speeds.
First of all, disable the Hermes workaround option. Activating the option reduced my transfer speed by half (approx.).
For large files, just use an external USB 2.0 card reader.
In the past I have done a test to get an idea of the different transfer speeds:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392941 (post 9)
Just wondering: which ROM are you using and which class has your SDHC card? (Me: -G-'s DK.10 series - WM6.1 & SDHC Class 4)
As to why your transfer rates are so low, I have no idea...
Hi!
Mhhh it could be the rom....i've even tried tweaking registry parameters (increase sd bloc size, etc) with no significant success on writing speed.
I've got and kingston 4gb sdhc class 4, rom WM6 prof compilation 18125.0.4.2
I had this problem with a Kingston 8GB Class 4. I tried tweaks and other roms, no luck. I ended up exchaning the card for another one that was exatly the same, and it completely solved my problem. I think a bad one gets in the batch from time to time. It took like 2 minutes to transfer 500kb. Granted, it takes a long time to transfer files anyways, but not that bad.
I've heard this from other people as well. However,

if not mistaken, i think i've read somewhere stating that kaiser max spped is usb1.1 and class2 for sdhc (hardware limitation)
well
I jave update the rom....to hyperdragon III and things got worse....
Now, can't even connect with pc via Card Export....and the worst of all, my gps got ruined.
More than 45minutes to catch gps signal
Before flashing, with the original rom i got satellite inside home, now...now not even outside....
Gps is now spoiled.
I've used [13 January 2009] HyperDragon III Raphael OS 5.2.21009 Build 20931.1.5.0
Now i should fix the gps...any idea¿? reflashing the rom would be painful.
Thanks
The fastest transfer rate I have found was via a ftp server on the kaiser. Its called Mocha Ftp Server. Works via wifi
Hope this helps
P.S.
I dont think HDIII comes with a radio. Maybe you are using an incompatible one. Look at the list on his page and download a matching radio for WM6.1 ( as this 100% will cause issues with any radio function including GPS )
It's not only a hardware thing.. I am using an sdhc 8 gig from sandisk, and just reading/writing to it is slow (even w/ an external reader as oppossed to the one in my comp)....
I guess it's like trading off mileage for speed in a car though.............. I dunno, I'm about ready to chuck mine, good thing it only cost me 29 bucks.

XDA IIs compatible with SDHC with WM6.5?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the XDA IIs (BA) is compatible with SDHC cards when upgraded to WM 6.5?
If so, what is the largest SDHC cxard anyone has tried successfully?
Thanks,
independant from the os used, there is no sdhc driver for the blueangel, so none works. the biggest sd card to work in a blueangel is a 4gb sd card, as long as it is not sdhc, there are different brands working, you gotta try for yourself, everything above 4gb is definetely sdhc and will not work.
in my experience 2gb cards work best and are the cheapest anyway, a 4gb card can easily cost 8-10eur while for the same price you get 2gb cards in a three-pack, so having 6gb
HCsd Cards
Thanks Chef_Tony for your response.
Currently I use 2 x 4GB SD cards and 1 x 2GB SD Card. All work reliably although once I dropped my device and after a reset and re-install, I had issues with GPS software freeezing after about 15 minutes.
A re-format of the 4gb card and re-copy apps back and all has worked well since.
Only ask as I have friend who is into IPaq's and when he upgraded from WM2003 to WM 5.0 he was then able to use SDHC Cards.
But, since your response, I won't worry about buying SDHC cards.
yes, that is possible with certain devices, my universal takes sdhc cards too, since it is wm6.1 because it contained a driver to enable sdhc support. but since there is no such driver for the ba (yet) no card above 4gb will be usable.

HTC Fuze - Does not recognize Transcend 8 GB

Hi All,
I have a HTC Fuze. I recently purchased a Transcend 8GB Class 6 microSD card. The problem is even if the card is plugged in memory it shows that its "Not Installed".
I updated the ROM from the HTC site and then It showed the card. But, after that I could transfer the files as it gave me some error. So I kept the card in the provided adapter and pluged into my system to copy all the needed files.
But when I pugged the card back into the phone. It doesnt recognize again and just shows it as "Not Installed" I tried flashing the ROM agian but of no use. The card is not being reconized at all. Please help me how to work it out?
I replaced the card once alread with Transcend!
However, about your card problem, have you tried re-formatting it before using? I'm not sure how well it will work, but at least something worth a try...
Ohh Ya, I have tried it all. Reformat, Soft/Hard reset. Upgraded to new version of ROM. I didnt try the Enerygy ROM, trying to get one. Also I see in the forumns that there are specific format tools to do to. Any idea?
i am having the same problem with my FUZE, I have a 8 GB transcend micro SDHC did you ever get yours to "read" or install it?
Same problem here...
8gb Transcend microsdhc class 6.
Fuze doesn't recognize at all, tried two different roms. It recognizes my non hc card but not the hc card.
You need to post this in the correct forum (i.e Touch Pro). Only Diamond related posts here.
ATT FUZE and 8 Gb Class 6 MicroSD
ATT FUZE and 8 Gb Class 6 MicroSD
I tried everything reflashing phone numerous times, low level formatting microsd card nothing worked or at least not permanently. Bit the bullet and bough another microsd card after some reading but this time a Class 4. I think a Class 2 would have worked also. I don't think it has to do with the brand name and/or size just the Class.
Also had lots of freezing issues with 23081 Roms so went back to a 23420 Rom and have not had a freeze or lockup since. Not naming Roms because it's not the fault of the Roms since these are all Beta builds otherwise we would be stuck with the dull stock Roms. So i'm grateful to be able to have all these choices and I do say choices because no one here is being forced to change their Roms.
Sandisk 16 Gb is a Class 2 so that should be a clear indication that not all devices are able to work with newer storage. Standalone cameras yes but smartphones not so smart.
This is my two cents
I have ordered 2 of these same cards(18 each from Newegg deal).. both of them do not work on my FUZE. They work fine on samsung impression. Tried formatting, reflashing other ROms, TAEL, NRG etc.. no use. Any help???
Sure Fire Fix!!!
I had the same prob..Switch back and forth from the touchflo view to the regular today screen view. in both views insert and take out your memory card it should reappear in your file explorer in one of those views
