Anyone know if it even exists?

Have a look at this site. I was looking at making my phone into a webcam.

It's not a bad concepts.
Cheers.

I stumbled across this and I can confirm it works well on the Kaiser.
Dunno if anyone has seen this but here is the link.

nice find
would be a nice substitute if anyone doesn't like activesync
it's been around for a while...this will ensure others see it for sure. works well when you want to edit things on the phone using your keyboard (e.g., changing registry values). i've experienced stable some stability issues, meaning it will disconnect without warning and reconnecting usually requires me to disconnect and reconnect AS or WMDC.
any idea how to remove/stop this program? seems to start up magically and i cant figure out the trigger.

It doesn't synchronize anything though.
It just display your pda screen on your computer and allows you to control it.

It's in no way a substitute to AS
BTW, guys, read my review of the app in the local Wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...retty good, free (!) handheld controller tool
I installed it on my work laptop and it played havoc with my network connections.
Pocket Controller Pro is worth every penny.
I'd like to use my diamond as a bluetooth/USB gps and get connected to my laptop. Due too its bigger screensize, viewing maps on laptop got to be nicer, but then how ??? Any clues smart guys???

Thanks bro, I'm gonna get it
You could also try GpsGate for PCC and PC..
Works great for me.
Hmm... I never even realised you could do this. Saves me buying a separate BT GPS receiver for my CarPC.
One question, how do you actually set this up over Bluetooth? It just asks me to pick a BT port, but I have no idea which port to use.
it's said that autoroute 2007 works on the PC, i'll give it a go
Is there any app out there that would allow me to use my magic, as a webcam..??
I have found a new one called qik... but this only posts videos to a site..
I need something that would appear on my pc as a webcam.
any chance someone cud develop something like this!?
You can test Qik (available on Market) or www.qik.com
It's not exactly a webcam but it's a live video from your phone

He actually tested QIK already. But that's is not exactly what he's looking for. I've been looking for this also, to use the phone USB connected to the PC as a webcam that you can configure in any IM software. I haven't found any way to do this, so it's more like a request for the devs!! don't know if it's not a big challenge for them, but there's a lot of threads asking for this.
A WiFi webcam would be nice instead of an USB one.
Can any developer help??
qik is fine but it does not do what I am after.
I need something that is recognised as a normal webcam.
Windows mobile has an app called mobiola that is a client and server type thing... with the server being installed on the pc, and the client on the phone.
Wifi connection would be good as well as usb.
Can a developer help??
so i would like this too. i did find this but its NOT for our phones
Motvik has recently released a product called WWIGO (Webcam Wherever You Go), it turns your Bluetooth enabled camera phone into a wireless webcam which can be used with any application on your computer.
its not for our phone but it shows that this has been done be for on another phone. so maybe some great coder could make a app for us
just thought i would share what i found.
bump!!!!!!1
Yeah this has been done before for Windows Mobile. I'm sure it'll get here eventually.
that would be cool, but the camera of magic is soooo bad... i'd rather buy a high quality webcam, they're not that expensive anymore.

Yea I have a camera in my laptop already, but this could be good in certain situations.
has anyone got any more news on this??
check out w3.placaware.com
though it does not seem to be updated any more..
I am trying to use WP connector for mac but its seems to be working oneway from Phone to Mac.
I wonder if anyone knows how can i use it to sync music and photos from mac to phone ?
The following help file from Microsoft contains directions on how to do this:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=203366&clcid=0x409 (PDF)
all you have to do is buy a pc
I did it earlier. I started up the Windows Phone 7 connector and it told me to connect my phone and I did. From there it works almost exactly like iTunes. It will sync any of the playlists you made in iTunes to the phone. Of course if you have no playlists in iTunes... then it might not work.

Well i do have the playlists and it is not even syncing photos as well.
I want to know if there is a way that I can tranfer all my files from a MAC to my phone. I used to plug my HD2 in and it would pop right up like a folder on my desktop. WinPho7 wont do that. I can not download anythign on my work computer, and I use the phone's storage every single day. All I have on my work comp is iTunes and it doens't show up like the iPhone would. This is very disappointing...
Vikramdhani, it won't sync photos if you don't have iPhoto 9 or above. I don't have it and mine won't sync either. So you have to update your iPhoto or wait until Microsoft releases an updated version of the Windows Phone 7 connector (which I'm not even sure will fix the problem, I'm just assuming they'd make it compatible with older versions of iPhoto.)
Jeimygirl, it doesn't work like the HD2. You won't see it on your desktop on your Mac. It works kind of like the iPhone/iPod. It will only show up in the Windows Phone 7 connector program. It works similar to iTunes but it doesn't show up in iTunes. You have to use the Windows Phone 7 connector program in order to sync anything to the phone. Unless someone figures out and releases a workaround.

Thanks. i knew this is how it worked I had an iPhone before, and I can't download anything on the MAC, so I'm pretty SOL. It was my biggest drawback to upgrading to the HD7. Second would be multitasking. But I figured the rest was worth it. i was tired of soft resetting my HD2 2-3 times daily. I'm just hoping the developers come out with an app that can turn the phone into a mass media storage like the HD2 or G1. I used those as my "iPod" in my car thought my stereo too.
Not sure if that's even possible on the HD7 but I would GLADLY pay for this app, and that says a lot for me as I normally never buy apps.

I hope you know that it is not a IOS connector but Mac OS connector seems like it was a hardware or software issue on the phone i had, guess what i returned it back to TMobile
I got the connector working no problem but of course it took forever to drop a couple thousand tracks the first time. My problem is it seems to try and update all 2k tracks when I plug it in attempting to snag a couple of new albums. Is there anyway to make it only capture the new albums and not try and run the stupid slow update all sequence?
Driving me nuts I had it running for almost 45 minutes and it was only 75% complete...FOR 2 fraggin albums I wanted to add...Man I honestly really like the new OS and phone but Microsoft didn't do themselves any favors with this dumb sync system. Let me drag and drop what I want, KISS!!!
(or I am doing it wrong and I am not very bright...which I KNOW is the case more often then not! )
Has anyone seen or heard of possibly using an old smartphone touchscreen as a monitor for the pi?
Seems like everyone has old spare phones laying around. Maybe the adaptation is too difficult, but thought I'd just put it out there.
VNC Is the solution!

I suggest you to setup a VNC Server on the raspberry pi, download a VNC Client on the smartphone, and connect the client to the server. Now you will be able to use your touch phone as both screen, mouse and keyboard for the raspberry pi. You can also just use it as a screen, but it will be pretty low resolution, depending on how large the screen is.
If you don't know what VNC is, it is basically a "remote screen control thing", as I like to call it.
Check out some links here:

Just a tip, lol.

I was thinking more of inline of just hardware. Ive got a GS3 that bricked, so i was thinking of taking apart and hooking up the screen that way. plus ive got another half dozen phones that arent in use. Didnt know if anyone ever tried it before, seems like such an obvious idea.
Not from a smartphone but you can search for Siemens S65 or Nokia 6610/3310 for Raspberry Pi...
Those are working!
I had not found someone who has got make a smartphone display work...
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9100
So, hardware...

I don't really know what to do here, but I saw some people hook up a broken smartphone (With working screen) to the raspberry pi via GPIO cables.
Maybe this'll help you: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=34469
If you know what you are doing then I do not think it should be any problem to do so.
I was looking for something like this, because I have some old phones with good screens that would come in handy as status screens (I'm already using VNC)
¿Has someone tried to drive any phone screen with the bare GPIO or is a shield needed?
Thanks for the link. Its definitely going to work for one of my many pi projects. Love this this community !
